Hi there has anyone here had this? Tested my z3 by submerging, it was okay at first then washed it with distilled water. Then allowed it to dry now i picked it up after an hour and now the screen flicks when I tap it. Pressure test was okay, while I submerged it i opened the pressure sensor on service menu and it was holding up to the pressure.

Others mentioned earlier in another thread that just the pressure test does not guarantee the phone being waterproof as some of them had their phones die.

Sounds like your LCD is damaged by water now.
Had this repair on a local phone shop and they found out that it was only the flex for backlight that was an issue. They made a jumper on it and now it works. It cost me only 22 usd. Good thing that guy found out the issue other cell shops refuse. Water entered on the lower speaker or either the lanyard hole, the phone was very dry inside except on those 2 area. The lower speaker was having an muffled issue prior (happened when the lower speaker was splashed with water.

Do you think this is still worth it to be repaired at Sony shop to have waterproofing restored? I have no warranty for this because this was an import unit.
Sent from my SGP621 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm pretty sure others were covered under warranty even for import units. However since a third party repair shop touched your phone it's lost now.
Well no it wasn't covered really. I went to sony repair and they said the serial number is not registered for this country's warranty and they explained sony doesn't have warranty. Do you think I don't want to have it repaired for free? Of course I went first there sony.

Oh, interesting because some were covered with phones from a different region. Is yours carrier branded by any chance?
As for speaker repair get a quote first if you can from a repair shop, then you will know if it's worth it or not.

Only way out of this is, if your eBay seller mentioned that there is warranty, you can go after him for making false claim otherwise it's out of your pocket.

Well that wouldn't be quite right because actually when I got the phone it's in good condition and I've taken it into a lot of underwater sessions. it really was an accident that happened and I guess it would be quite unfair for the seller. Anyway i decided to not just restore the waterproof function and i would wait what z4 would offer. I am interested with the flapless usb port.

I accidentally pushed my phone off of the bathroom counter and it landed flat on the screen. Not a scratch on the screen but there is a hairline crack in the top left corner of the casing. Strange that the case would crack before the screen.
Ya this is what insurance is for so it not fraud. But I was more wondering if there is a replacement screen for this phone out yet that I could buy and fix myself? And ya when the phone dropped it landed right on the corner so all force of impact was concentrated in one spot...

He can use a lighter and heat up the void sticker. Use tweezers and carefully remove it. It will all come off in one piece, then you can open it up, replace what needs to be replaced, put it back together, and put the sticker back over the screw. VZW will never know.

I would recommend going through the insurance to get it replaced. The same thing happened to my Thunderbolt (today, actually) and it was relatively hassle-free. Functionality of the phone wasn't really affected so the cost was only $99.00 for the replacement. I figure it's better to pay this and start with a fresh phone than waiting until something really breaks on it.
I got this service for $7.99 with my HOS last year when I got it.
I was curious if anyone had this as well and tried to replace their phone.
Now that they have the black HOS at T-Mo.
What would qualify as enough damage for replacement?
I ask this because I was going to get my top cover replaced and figured may as well see how much I can get out of this.
Don't wanna sound like I'm intentionally damaging my phone for a replacement with the T-mo rep.

I work for tmo, so maybe I could help you out. Back plate as in the sim card cover on the top back of the phone?
And tmo will only send the black one if that's what they have in stock as far as a warranty replacement. Doing a warranty exchange is $5 on the next bill.
If the phone is damaged (I.e. water damage, major physical damage, cracked screen etc.) then you have to do an insurance claim with Asurion which is $130 on the spot.

If there's physical damage/water damage then yeah, it'll be another $130 unfortunately. But at least it's cheaper than full cost. But depending on the damage, I'd consider self repair and then replace anything that could void your warranty (void sticker screw tops, water damage indicators etc.)
What sranimo said is correct, after the second insurance claim that's it for the year, so use it wisely. I personally don't think that's right, but hey, what can a sales rep do? Lol

First off, I love my note 3. This phone is so close to perfect I can't bear the fact that I broke it somehow.
After having no case/screen protector since I got this phone.. sometime end of summer.. I bought my first case off of amazon. I received it YESTERDAY.. today.. while it was in the case, in my back pack (in a nice "protective" pouch that is lined with soft cloth) somehow it cracked the lcd screen (or digitizer) but the GLASS IS NOT CRACKED. Infact there's no physical damage to the phone at all, no dents or scratches anywhere on the phone at all, even looking at the screen under a light. Nothing on the glass.
SO I'm heart broken. It's my secondary phone so I have no insurance on it.
What would you do ? It's a sprint phone.. black.
You have to replace your complete screen.
It's called a full assembly.
You can't just replace you lcd alone.
They cost around $200.
Try parts4repair.com
I repair alot of phones and this site always has the best quality.

Yes.. you can see the top third of the screen for a minute or two, then it goes black/digital looking (8 bit graphics) and then eventually joins the bottom of the screen - being broken.

I had the same thing happen, although it happened after someone else dropped the phone.
I ended up buying a new front assembly for the phone for about $237. It was the only seller that affirmatively listed the display as AMOLED. The repair was pretty straightforward and it works well now

I decided to go the honest route.
Handed her the phone saying that I dropped it, don't have insurance, can't get it anymore because it's been too long and asked if there was anything that could be done.
She smiled, said "Finally someone is honest, let me see what I can do"
Turns out they had a broken Note3 in the back with a good digitizer and screen.
Charged me 75 bucks, signed me up for insurance (I'm months outside the 30 day window) and sent me on my way.
Sure it's not free, but for 75 bucks and I don't have to mess with it and I kept my integrity, I'm happy!

The rep may have been making assumptions after watching the video discussed in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2694834
Assuming the rep was referring to HTC as the ones who apply a water repellant coating, there COULD be truth in the statement. Looking at this video, I'd say there must be some level of moisture protection unheard of in phones from just a few years ago. Using it as a sales pitch, however, is certainly more BS than anything. Bottom line, it seems to be a pretty great phone but don't get it wet and it'll stay a great phone. If you must expose it to moisture, invest in an appropriate case.

I've got stuff that is made in England. It's made my phones waterproof. Look up "flash flood" phone waterproofing. Should find it. Let me know if not. It's expensive since its not on kickstarter anymore. But if you want waterproof and something that can also protect your screen (since he makes something for that), that's the place to go. Yeah I did, but in practice it's rather different. Apart from the obvious lack of sealant on the video the back was in one piece mine was in about a million or so.
I also used a hair dryer over a heat gun.
The bit that makes me sure the video is a quick after the fact version is I had 2 large blobs of glue on the back of the battery, which were around the concentration of smallest shards. That was a nightmare with tweezers to remove the parts. When I pulled a shard off it invariably broke into even more.
The replacement ball should arrive today or tomorrow I hope so I'll be fitting that asap.

Ok all done! My phone looks perfect, there was one minor hitch after all this too....getting the NFC sticker back on. I've not yet checked it's working but the adhesive sticker was the right shape to help me line it up.
I had to use the old hairdryer to loosen up the glue, and once I got a bit lifted up it got easier but it was a couple of minutes of slowly pulling it off with tweezers.
I've yet to brave the waterproofing...but that being said it's the same adhesive as before...
