Problem Updating - AT&T LG G2

I'm actually on 4.4.2 stock, no root, and when I try to update my phone say Is not registried yet

Pretty sure this post belongs in General or Q&A section but...
Try putting it into Airplane mode then Settings- turn on Mobile Network. Then in Mobile Network settings go to Network Operators and make sure it registers on your provider. (Don't panic. It can take several minutes to register.) Use Auto Registration.

[Q] Mobile Network State: Disconnected

If I go into settings>about phone>status it shows my mobile network state as "disconnected"
Under mobile networks, one of the options is to change the network mode. Right now it says "CDMA/LTE/EVDO". The other options are GSM/UMTS and Global.
Is that the network mode i'm supposed to be in? If so, what should I do about it saying my mobile network state is "disconnected"?
I had to odin back to stock recently and I think my phone is working correctly but I'm sure it's not supposed to say that my mobile network state is "disconnected".
Thanks for any and all help.
Yes, you want to be on LTE/CDMA/EvDO.
Is the 'CDMA Subscription' set to RUIM/SIM?
We need more info regarding which rom you're on, which build, etc. Some devices (like mine) have s**t modems and certain roms end up freaking the modem out and shutting it off. I suspect you have the same issue.

I'm pretty sure completely stock right now. 4.1.2. Build number JZO54K.I535VRBMF1.
I'm not seeing anywhere where I can change the "CDMA Subscription".
I was about to go through the process of rooting and unlocking the bootloader and flashing LiquidSmooth 2.37 and dealing with this disconnected mobile network state problem after that.
hmm... it's been a while since I ran stock. I know it's a dumb question, but have you rebooted the device?
Are you connected to WiFi? It will say that if you are connected to WiFi.

[Q] Mobile data switching issues

Hi all, I am having some issues with my Z3s mobile data switch. If I have mobile data on and then activate my wifi, the mobiles data 3g icon disappears, which I had assumed is normal because wifi trumps data.
After I turn wifi off, the data connection icon does not come back and i have no internet access. When I go to settings to reactivate the data connection, it says it is already on. I have to shut it off/turn it on manually 3 or 4 times before it reconnects... and it seems like it takes a really long time to reconnect too.
Any thoughts?
1. Try to reinstall the internet and mms settings under settings, Wireless and networks, Internet Settings.
2. Try under settings, Wireless and networks, mobile networks, prefered network mode, select any of the non LTE/4G options.
3 .If either of those don't work, then try under settings, Wireless and networks, mobile networks, then network operator, then select your network provider from the list, then do each of the previous step 2 then step 1.
If that still doesn't work take the sim back and get it checked out by your provider, or request a new one.

Thanks for this. Apparently it matters in which order you do things with this phone so when I set it up before installing the sim it messed it up. I reset the phone back to factory defaults but this time with the sim card in it and it now works a lot better--though switching between wifi and mobile data is rather slow, at least compared to my One M8.
hmm, shouldn't do I haven't noticed that previously, I would be wary of your sim card.
I have the same issue on my Z3 Compact. Is there no other way than a factory reset? I'm rooted btw
Try turning off Stamina mode
I've had the same or similar issue with the T-Mobile version of the Z3 (D6616). For my phone, I've noticed that it is Stamina mode that is causing this issue. Another post described a similar issue and the way to resolve it was to clear the data and cache on the "Extended Standby mode controller" app/process. Note however that this causes all the stamina settings to be reset such as the apps active in standby. Eventually though this didn't work any more so I decided to turn off Stamina mode altogether. So far, the Wi-Fi to mobile data switching works flawlessly with Stamina mode off.
My feeling it has to do with an app/apps that affect this particular process. I had reset my phone and installed apps "slowly" (install one app, test, install another app, test, etc.) to see which app would cause this though could not pinpoint a particular app. I've experienced this issue with three Xperia Z3's (the first Z3 I had, the replacement Z3 due to a camera button issue, and my wife's Z3) so this has to be a software issue.
Another option is to put the phone in Airplane mode then take it out of airplane mode.
I have the same issue. Although it arises sporadically, I simply enable and disable Airplane mode when I'm out of wifi range if the phone fails to catch mobile data.

You can leave STAMINA mode on (under Power management), however...... only enable the "Extended Standby" option and of course Activation should be at 100%/Always on. When Wi-Fi is on, you must also have whitelisted 2 specific apps in STAMINA under the "Apps active in standby" list: The text msg app you're using (i.e. Textra, etc) and I would also whitelist one under "All others" entitled "Phone/Messaging Storage". Again, this is only for when you have Wi-Fi on. Keep the other stuff disabled in here. With regards to STAMINA mode.......
First, put Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep to "Only when plugged in" (Settings, Wi-Fi, Advanced). Also, make sure everything else on that page is unchecked/disabled. Turn off STAMINA mode. Go into Settings, Apps, All, Extended Standby Mode Controller, Clear Data AND Cache. Then go to your text app's (Textra, etc) "App info" page (on same Apps "All" screen) and clear ONLY the cache, then close out the app itself (3D button to the right of the virtual Home button, swipe the text app off the screen). Reset. When you come back, follow what I said above, including turning STAMINA mode back on (note the removal of having to leave "queue background data" off.) Make sure that when you turn STAMINA mode on that the pop-up shows up describing it. If it doesn't at any point, then repeat this paragraph's instructions. What I just said here MAY resolve any lingering MMS issues, and also resolve any issues regarding with STAMINA mode not kicking in too. When I did this my phone spit out a few "missed" incoming MMS messages out all at once. And the battery seems to be last longer too.
It seems that MMS messages will def show up if Wi-Fi is on, but it will take longer to show up if screen is off. Maybe 3-5 minutes longer.

Can I get my device to auto-connect to WiFi without internet?

Hi everyone,
I own a Nexus 5 and I am running stock firmware, Android 6.0 MRA58K, unrooted and bootloader locked. I use this device at work and frequently connect to a WiFi LAN that has no internet connection (by design -- I use it to talk to other devices on the network). In older software versions (I believe back in the KitKat days if I recall), I could simply turn on the WiFi slider on my phone, and it would automatically connect to the network, and I could immediately start talking to the devices I need to (this was excellent!). Then when Lollipop first rolled around, it would still connect to the network automatically, but it would realize that there's no internet connection, so it would then prioritize the Cellular Data network, preventing me from communicating with my network devices. So I had to do an extra step by disabling my data connection, then things would work properly again. (Of course, this also meant that when I wanted to jump off the Wi-Fi, I would need to re-enable Cellular Data.)
Nowadays, Android seems to remember that my WiFi network doesn't have an internet connection, so it never joins it by default (very frustrating!). So every time I want to jump on the network, I need to turn on WiFi, then manually select the network to join, then go into the Data section and disable cellular Data, and then things would be working fine. Of course, if I ever walked away from the Wi-Fi range and then came back, I would again need to manually select the network.
And now with this lastest Marshmallow update, a new Notification pops up every time I join the Network that says:
"Wi-Fi has no Internet Access. Touch for options." When touched it says, "This network has no Internet access. Stay connected? Yes/No" There's also a checkbox that says, "Don't ask again for this network". Every time I check that box, and say YES to stay connected. And yet each and every time I connect to the network, this notification appears again! (The checkbox seems to do nothing). I've looked at the Advanced options in the Wi-Fi settings, and nothing there seems to help.
So my question is, is there a way for me to go back to the "good 'ole days", where I can get my phone to automatically join this WiFi network, and still prioritize it over cellular data?
If need be, I'm perfectly fine with rooting/unlocking my phone, if I need to install some custom firmware or whatever.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have!

Incorrect Time

I have a G7 Power international version running on Consumer Cellular (AT&T). For the past month, once a week or so the clock will be off by several hours (4 or 5). At 10:15 PM last night (US EST), it showed 3:15 AM (which was Greenwich Mean Time). When this has occurred, rebooting the device has restored the correct time. All my phone settings are set to use automatic date and time. Is there any way to determine if this is a device or a network issue? Thanks.
I guess is a network issue. You should try setting off the automatic time zone and setting the correct time for your zone. Sorry if I don't write correct in English
You probably need to change cell phone towers or apns settings. I *228 for verizon

I'm on Consumer Cellular (AT&T), and the only apn I have is the one they supplied.
The only thing I can think of is restarting the phone or putting it on airplane mode for a while and back

When it occurs, a restart does in fact cause it to go back to the correct time. My question is why this is happening in the first place. Thanks.
If restarting the phone I did not reread the first post on the second reply at first I thought there was a number to call to change cell phone towers but at and t don't have that option restarting the phone does change cell phone towers. If you want to verify its a network issue of the time changes again turn on airplane mode for 5 min turn it back on and the time re adjust then I would lean towards you r network

Consumer Cellular said that it doesn't appear to be the network; no other users on the same network have reported an issue. They suggested a factory reset. My device received a security patch back in December, so I wonder if that's the culprit. The issue hasn't recurred in a few days, so I'll hold off for now but will likely reset if it happens again, but I'll try the airplane mode first. Thanks.

It happened again yesterday. Turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off (after a few seconds) caused the time to revert back to the correct time zone. Does that mean that (a) it is in fact a network and not a device issue, and (b) a factory reset would likely not resolve the problem? What can be done if it's a network problem, particularly since Consumer Cellular indicated that it's not? Thanks.
Update: I got on a chat with Motorola support, and they had a tech support person call me. (That's pretty prompt service for a budget phone.) She said that it could be the security patch and offered to troubleshoot, even if it takes days. She had me clear data for the Clock and Settings apps, then power off/on. She's leaving the ticket open and sending me an email to let her know if the problem recurs in the next few days. We'll see.

Android 13 software stay connected to internet despite wifi and data off

Hello,
I'm a newbie here so I hope I'm not doing mistakes, writting in wring place, etc. And English is not my native language...
My phone recently update from android 12 to android 13.
I noticed something a bit weird later. Here are the steps:
1- I start a software using internet (firefox, etc) . I go on some websites.
2- I set the network off (wifi off, 4G/3G/etc off) using the network screen
3- but the software can keep surfing on internet !
In fact, as long as I do not restart the software, it stay connected to internet.
I first noticed this while hearing radio on internet using VLC. Despite having put the wifi off and not put on the cellular data (proper words?), I noticed the radio keep working. It never did that on android 12: as soon as I put the wifi/ cellular data off, the connection was interrupted.
What is happening?
PS: my hypothesis is that android keeps the connection on or switch from wifi to data automatically... But I've no idea how to test it.
I think it should be that you didn't turn off both mobile data and wifi properly.
To turn off both mobile data and Wi-Fi, tap on the Internet tile in Quick settings. Then turn off the toggles next to Wi-Fi and cellular service provider’s name.

You may need to boot into stock recovery and wipe the cache, this is necessary sometimes after updating to remove any conflicting data from before the update that is causing things to be buggy.
Late answer, was kinda busy.

I read here what you mean by "boot into stock recovery and wipe the cache".
But I don't know if I can do that.
I've an XR20...
The only option when going to fastboot are :
"START" "Power off" "Restart bootloader"
No possibility to wipe the cache.
While I'm at it.
I played with network option. To test the internet connection, I use termux and run
ping www.google.com
I use the " toggles next to Wi-Fi and cellular service provider’s name" to put network on off.
Here are the results in sequential order.
"Ping ok" means: internet connection available. "No ping" means no connection. (!) means unexpected behavior.
wifi on and cellular off => ping ok
wifi off and cellular off => no ping
wifi off and cellular on => ping ok
wifi off and cellular off => ping ok (!)
wifi off and cellular on => ping ok
wifi off and cellular off => ping ok (!)
wifi off and airplane mode activated and cellular off or on => no ping
wifi off and and cellular off and airplane mode disable => ping ok (!).
Then I exit termux (using the hard method (force quit)) and then activate the airplane mode, then disable it:
wifi off and and cellular off and airplane mode disable => no ping
So in fact, it looks like once an app has asked for cellular data, the cellular data are kept on, whatever the network toggle in quick setting is set.
By the way, and just in case (1):
it reminds me than when I updated to android 13, sms couldn't send anymore pics when off network. I had to update some parameters to make it work again. (From what I understand from doing a little search, you have to "allow mms when your cellular data are disabled"). Think I had to update my APN too (I used the configuration suggested on the official website of my phone provider).
Could that be the source of the troubles?
(1) good old stuff I was taught the hard way: try to remember everything you did on your computer the day it failed. Even insignificant stuff can be the cause of huge trouble...

In fastboot, connect to PC, open a adb/fastboot terminal, type this command.
fastboot erase cache
Also, try going to your system settings>apps and find the apps on the app list that are using data in the background and disable background data usage for those apps.
