I have a G7 Power international version running on Consumer Cellular (AT&T). For the past month, once a week or so the clock will be off by several hours (4 or 5). At 10:15 PM last night (US EST), it showed 3:15 AM (which was Greenwich Mean Time). When this has occurred, rebooting the device has restored the correct time. All my phone settings are set to use automatic date and time. Is there any way to determine if this is a device or a network issue? Thanks.
I guess is a network issue. You should try setting off the automatic time zone and setting the correct time for your zone. Sorry if I don't write correct in English
You probably need to change cell phone towers or apns settings. I *228 for verizon

I'm on Consumer Cellular (AT&T), and the only apn I have is the one they supplied.
The only thing I can think of is restarting the phone or putting it on airplane mode for a while and back

When it occurs, a restart does in fact cause it to go back to the correct time. My question is why this is happening in the first place. Thanks.
If restarting the phone I did not reread the first post on the second reply at first I thought there was a number to call to change cell phone towers but at and t don't have that option restarting the phone does change cell phone towers. If you want to verify its a network issue of the time changes again turn on airplane mode for 5 min turn it back on and the time re adjust then I would lean towards you r network

Consumer Cellular said that it doesn't appear to be the network; no other users on the same network have reported an issue. They suggested a factory reset. My device received a security patch back in December, so I wonder if that's the culprit. The issue hasn't recurred in a few days, so I'll hold off for now but will likely reset if it happens again, but I'll try the airplane mode first. Thanks.

It happened again yesterday. Turning on airplane mode, then turning it back off (after a few seconds) caused the time to revert back to the correct time zone. Does that mean that (a) it is in fact a network and not a device issue, and (b) a factory reset would likely not resolve the problem? What can be done if it's a network problem, particularly since Consumer Cellular indicated that it's not? Thanks.
Update: I got on a chat with Motorola support, and they had a tech support person call me. (That's pretty prompt service for a budget phone.) She said that it could be the security patch and offered to troubleshoot, even if it takes days. She had me clear data for the Clock and Settings apps, then power off/on. She's leaving the ticket open and sending me an email to let her know if the problem recurs in the next few days. We'll see.

Well I just got my At&t Fuze like 3-4 days ago. For some reason it randomly loses connection to the network, so I can make call or use the internet. I'll have to go back to setting- communication to turn off my phone turn it back on then turn on the data connection. I'm really tiring of it happening over and over again. Does anyone else have this problem? And are there any ways to fix it? Thanks
No one has any idea??
Are you still running the stock ROM? If so, GET RID OF IT!!!!
In all seriousness: Have you installed any applications? Have you modified TouchFLO 3D? You can always try a hard reset and see if the problem persists.
It's possibly a problem with AT&T's network. I've noticed that my 3G speeds are incredibly slow lately and others on hofo have had this issue as well. I would advise you to wait it out.
forp me it says i get 3g,edge, or G and i will cant connect sometimes.
I also have this issue. Sometimes it happens after a soft reset or for no reason at all. It is easy to fix as i just turn data back on but I don't know why it is happening.
I actually tried a hard reset reset and it didn't work so then I brought it back to At&t and the guy there fixed it for me. He said it was because the data connection was off so then I thought maybe I accidentally turned it off, but the problem persist after.
Yes, I am still running under stock rom, I installed google map, beejive, and some other that I don't think will cause this problem. I am afraid to flash because I already have a lot of contact info set in and data and would have to re-do everything.
I was hoping maybe someone would have a solution for this. I don't think running on stock rom would cause this.....
Any help would be great. Thanks
I just flash it to NATF's rom and it's working really well right now. I hope the problem will not appear again. Again thanks for the rom NATF
I now get it often that there is a problem with the GPRS in your area. Also there are times that the phone is not even connected. It is getting to be a pain but will try calling AT&T and find out
Even after installing a new rom the problem still continue. I tried going into an At&t store and ask, but they have no clue. I don't have time to call 611 right now, but will update with what they say when I do. It starts to get really annoying....

It's probably a network issue.
Regarding flashing, I suggest you back up your contacts with outlook. Even if the problem has nothing to do with software, you're missing out quite a bit in terms of speed. Besides, you should back up your contacts regardless. Don't trust windows mobile too much
OK, sounds like I'm not the only one experiencing this problem. I think the only thing that's different for me is that when I lose the data connection, I also lose voice. The first time it happened, it said my SIM was unprovisioned. When I called customer service, they didn't know beyond checking for network outages in my area.
Fuze_tactic & Tribalmunky
I thing both of your problems -- intermittently dropping the data connection for Fuze_tactic, and intermittently dropping the voice and data connection for Tribalmunky -- could be caused by the Long Press End button setting. Go to Start/Settings/System/LongPressEndKey to see what I'm talking about. There is one setting for Airplane mode, which would kill voice and data, and another for killing just the data connection. Try changing the long end key press to Set Vibrate/Ringer and see if that cures your issue(s). If you are occasionally long pressing the end key, your should develop a problem with intermittently losing your ringer.

No, I've checked that. It happened once when it was just charging, no where near my hands or anything that could have pressed it. When it happens I can't make calls or reestablish data connections until I either go in the connections manager or soft reset.

Like tribalmunky said we were no where near the phone when it happens, but I follow your instruction and changed the long pressed key. I'll see if anything occurs. Thanks for the input tho.
Update:
I called At&t and from what tech support told is, their network is having problems, especially for users in Cali. They are in progress of fixing it, but no idea how long it is going to take. I guess the only thing we can do now is wait.

I've been having problems with this too (losing data and phone) and I'm in Seattle. Maybe if I call, AT&T will claim there are problems with the entire west coast.
I did the whole SPL and ROM flashing thing (ROMeOS) and the problem still persists. I chatted online with an AT&T guy and he said it was a known issue but no way to fix it yet.
If you're worried about your contacts, don't be. Use PPCPimBackup (I think I got it either here or at freewarepocketpc.net) and it can copy all of your contacts onto the storage card. It's free and I've used it prior to flashing a new ROM.
However, flashing ROMs do not work. The only fix is simply going to your communications settings, turning off Data, then turning it right back on. This will also be why some of your MMS pictures don't get sent out.
I still love this phone, just get annoyed with it at times. Even the available larger battery with cover only makes my phone last about two days opposed to one.

I am in NJ and have the same problem. It started about the time I loaded some screen lock software that requires a finger swipe to unlock the touch screen (navigation buttons always active) upon coming out of sleep mode. I just decided to live with it, I like the software. I merely click the data connection in settings, connections, data connection (it may indicate off or on, doesn't matter, it is actually off) and then click it on and everything works again. Mostly happens after charging overnight.
I have stock fuze and it keeps happening to me too. But whenever I reset my phone, I can connect to the internet. I don't think it's network related in my case. not sure though.
So out of nowhere, my HTC Sensation no longer connects to the network. I would get roughly around 5 mbps around my house, but just all of a sudden, it stopped working. I tried rebooting the phone, and turning on/off airplane mode, and it just doesn't seem to be working. Anyone have any more tips before I try and factory resetting? Also i think I may be experiencing a bug because every time I open any app, I get a very quick glimpse of the weather instead, and then the app opens up. Thanks
What was your previous phone with t-mobile? If you don't have an "android plan" it seems that T-mobile is blocking you from data.
Check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128335&highlight=data&page=5
I had the same problem two days ago and had to do a factory reset to solve the problem.
Previous phone was MyTouch 3g, so I'm sure I'm on an android plan
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out
Don't assume it's your phone. It's possible that service in your area is down. If you have another t-mobile phone check to see if it has reception. Next go into settings, wireless&networks, and select mobile networks. Then choose network operators and select automatically. If nothing comes up I would call t-mobile because resetting your phone.
Hi All,
I've been having an issue after upgrading from a Nexus 4 to Nexus 5 where the phone will not re-connect to the home network (or will only reconnect to GSM with no data) after losing connection. This happens for example when going into an elevator or parking garage; I'll lose signal and when I get back into a signal area it won't reconnect unless I go to the "Mobile networks" -> "Network operators" menu and select "HOME" or "Automatic Registration". I'm using Straight Talk wireless with an older T-Mobile SIM (before they switched to only AT&T). I've called Straight Talk a few times to try and debug this, but the only instruction they've given me is to reset the APN and set it up again, which I've done a couple times to no avail. They claim that the SIM card is good on their end. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks!

It sounds like the Baseband/RIL problems I had with my old LG OP2X with non-stock roms. For me, it was fixed switching to aeroplane mode and back, it could also get stuck there, I remember it once took me half a day to get it out for I didn't want it to wipe it.
Any way, may be it's not the same but it could be fixed flashing a baseband, I think I saw a thread about it somewhere around... Also, flashing the full firmware should —if it's not a hardware issue— solve the problem without doing much research.
HI

Hi Were you able to get a solution for this, My nexus 5 does not connect automatically to the network, it works only for manual search.
Please help...
Same problem here. Any solution?
I'm stuck with out any connection for the las two days. Tried removing battery, airplane mode. manual search. nothing.
Tried my line in other phone and it worked, other line in my phone and it didn't.
S4 I9500. Paranoid 4 Beta 4.
I don't have a really good solution, i reflashed my phone to stock and it did not fix the issue. I ended up switching carriers to T-mobile and haven't seen the problem since. It seems it was a SIM or network problem like i suspected

I still couldn't make this work I'm this close to buying a new phone... any idea?
As stated I'm using the LG G5 H830 T-Mobile variant. I am getting 4G LTE data connection and everything runs well (Not in any WiFi range) Yet for SMS and calling as well as mobile hotspot I get "No USIM card' error. This happened after wiping the system and formatting data. Rebooted recovery (as per instructions on forum) then installed the stock firmware & Patch with systemless root and xposed. After this I did factor reset when just pulling the sim didn't help. Still nothing. I reflashed just the stock firmware with TWRP and SuperSU and issue is still happening. I've disabled rebooted and enabled the phone radio. SIM is in good condition and tray as well everything is SECURE and should be good to go.
I'm assuming a new SIM might be a solution. But I'm not counting on it and with Labor Day tomorrow for me I wouldn't be able to pick one up for 2 days. So here I am...hoping someone might have a fix. I know I don't have many posts on here. But I am an experienced user....just not with the more basic of problems I guess
Thanks!!
Has anyone else experienced this yet? I'm just curious...I had it fixed for a couple days. I've formatted data and done complete system wipe. Tried it resetting phone with the COMPLETE zip and TOT using LGUP. I'm receiving texts. Not calls. Not able to send either. I've activated new sim, didn't help. LG support just told me to look into warranty. T-Mobile needless to say just wanted. Sim card does show stock tmobile short code contacts but phone number shows as unknown. Hotspot won't work. I've tried setting the phone number to the sim. Nothing.
Anyways. I don't think I messed with anything, even so I've done everything to start the phone from scratch. Going to replace it, just more or less curious at this point and maybe others have had the same issue.
I believe I had the same issue as you and it was driving me crazy. I was constantly wiping data, system, etc but my phone kept giving the message "roaming indicator off" where it should show the name of the carrier. This resulted in me having LTE data and that's it- no 3g, no phone calls, etc. I couldn't even access the mobile network menu.
What ended up causing the issue was the network mode setting under wireless networks. Keep in mind at this point I'm running a patched rom which now gives more options in the network mode menu than the phone came factory with. I have an area at work where I have to switch to 3g, GSM/wcdma preferred network setting, because although I have full LTE signal, my connection goes dead. When switching back from 3g I chose the setting lte/CDMA thinking this would force my phone to stay in lte mode due to another area on an upper floor where the phone will constantly drop lte.
Anyways this resulted in my phone saying roaming indicator unavailable, the inability to make or receive phone calls, and either the mobile networks or network mode menus being grayed out. When stuck in this mode there is no way to put the phone back into the standard "GSM/wcdma/lte" mode. Even a complete reflash won't fix it. I even used lgup, which worked for maybe a day until it force closed the phone app and went back to roaming indicator unavail. I wiped every partition and even reflashed radio firmware. Nothing worked.
What ended up fixing it was using an app called v10 hidden settings which allowed me to access the network mode menu directly and re-choose the lte/wcdma/GSM setting. Incidentally on first access to this menu through the app there are only two network settings available. Once you choose a GSM setting, the rest appear.
I'm not sure if this was your issue but I hoped this helped because this took me about a week to workout.
My Huawei Y9 has recently started to intermittently stop recognising either SIM card in the dual sim slots. Once this happens I can restart the phone or set to aeroplane mode for a number of minutes and this usually resolves it for a short period before the exclamation comes again in place of the mobile reception.
I have confident of both SIM cards functioning well as I have tried them in another phone, and also tried a different SIM card in my phone and the error occurred again. So I am sure that the issue is with the phone.
I have followed the following steps but to no avail:
Restarting phone
Removing SIM cards
Checking other SIM cards
Running in Safe Mode
Clearing Android Cache via Recovery mode
Reset Network settings
Checked for IMEI (It is there when the card is working, and null when it isn't)
Have the latest updates installed
Other than a factory reset (which I don't want to do until I have exhausted all options), I am not sure what to do. The phone is only six months old and still under warranty, however it was bought in Cambodia and I am now living in Brazil so I don't think they have service options readily available here.
Any suggestions?

Hello Oisin
I'm facing the exact same issue here. It's started the day after the last update (FLA-LX1 8.0.0.124 (C185)). Please tell me if you have the same firmware.
Well, I also tried Factory reset and even flashing the same official firmware doesn't solve it. I talked online with Huawei support (from the app) they told me that It's a software issue and to do all kind of reset... But it was un vain.
From my point of view, the culprit seems to be an built-in app that ask for location or network Time. But every time it does the phone reject the sim as you said earlier. Note: It's still do it even with the location disabled (asking for network time)
I spotted the app last week, It's com.hisi.mapcon. As I'm typing this message, I decided to revoke this app authorisations to modify system parameters. I'll tell you if that solves the issue
Otherwise I'm planning to downgrade the firmware (the last step before I break this phone out of anger)
See ya
---------- Post added at 04:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:55 PM ----------
Revoking the authorisations didn't make it. Now I will debloat this app... It seems kind of useless while being troublesome
For now, I just disable location. And there's a little trick to keep your signal on. While disabling location, soon after you'll get a notification tile that the phone need location enabled. At this moment the signal will disappear. Don't enable the location just keep the notification as is. And toggle the airplane mode on for 10 secs. Then toggle it off. Tadaaa! Signal is back... It'll stay on as long as you don't erase the notification or enable location .... Still, if you reboot your phone, you have to do it again... This is just a "patchwork" while waiting for a solution but it works

Hi Mumiby,
Thanks for the help and reply.
I have FLA-LX2 8.0.0.126 (C636). I can't pinpoint the exact time the error began unfortunately. However your work around fixes the issues as you suggested. Thanks for that. Although as you said, it is only patchwork and not a long-term solution. Any idea if Hauwei are aware of this or likely to fix it?

Hi.
Well, I came here on xda to post this problem because Huawei didn't react to this issue. Maybe there's not enough people complaining about it to make a move. I bought my phone in Morocco and now I'm in Congo DR. There's no Huawei Customer Care here and reporting to the online service is sort of hopeless. As I told you I'm planning to downgrade the firmware so that I can give them evidence for the bug

OK, just to note, I can delete the notification of location services and the SIM error does not return. Only if I restart the phone or turn on location. I have passed this information on to Huawei Cambodia also.

Do you still have signal right now ? Maybe It's my imagination, it seems to me that when the phone asks for location it enable it for a few secs maybe to warm it up... I'm not sure about it but if the location app or the gps driver (maybe the radio) is the culprit then it does make sense. Logcat would be helpful for investigation.
I deleted the notification too. Let's see how long it last

Well last night the battery died and the phone was restarted. I left the location services off, and since restart the sim is working fine. So it is clear the sim not being recognised is directly related to the location services being on.

So we just have to wait an update from Huawei. Btw I still have signal without the notification... It's kind of weird because before around 20 minutes after deleting the notif' it would get back and kick out the signal .... Maybe we did find a better workaround ?
Hey Oisin
Does the workaround still work? Did you have some updates ?
Hi Mumiby,
Yes so some updates on my part. Firstly, after my last post I decided to turn on location services again to see how long it would take for the error to reappear and to gather proof of the error. Surprisingly, the error did not, and has not reappeared.
I also upgraded to the latest firmware a few days ago (.128) and all is still good.
