[Q] Mobile Network State: Disconnected - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

If I go into settings>about phone>status it shows my mobile network state as "disconnected"
Under mobile networks, one of the options is to change the network mode. Right now it says "CDMA/LTE/EVDO". The other options are GSM/UMTS and Global.
Is that the network mode i'm supposed to be in? If so, what should I do about it saying my mobile network state is "disconnected"?
I had to odin back to stock recently and I think my phone is working correctly but I'm sure it's not supposed to say that my mobile network state is "disconnected".
Thanks for any and all help.

Yes, you want to be on LTE/CDMA/EvDO.
Is the 'CDMA Subscription' set to RUIM/SIM?
We need more info regarding which rom you're on, which build, etc. Some devices (like mine) have s**t modems and certain roms end up freaking the modem out and shutting it off. I suspect you have the same issue.

I'm pretty sure completely stock right now. 4.1.2. Build number JZO54K.I535VRBMF1.
I'm not seeing anywhere where I can change the "CDMA Subscription".
I was about to go through the process of rooting and unlocking the bootloader and flashing LiquidSmooth 2.37 and dealing with this disconnected mobile network state problem after that.

hmm... it's been a while since I ran stock. I know it's a dumb question, but have you rebooted the device?

Are you connected to WiFi? It will say that if you are connected to WiFi.

[Q] 4G Connection Issues (Haven't Lost WiMax Keys)

Hello. After lots of rooting, ROM flashing, and all that good stuff, somewhere in the process I did something that must be keeping me from using 4G. When I turn on my 4G antenna, in settings it just says I'm "Disconnected" and when I scan for service, it scans for maybe five seconds and goes back to disconnected. In the settings, all three fields for 4G network information (Network provider, Signal strength, and IP address), are blank.
I used wimax_mtd and ls /data/misc/wimax/ to make sure I still had my keys, and I do, they match what's written on the back of the phone exactly. I tried this with no luck.
Anyone know what is causing the problem? I'm running a fully rooted gingerbread.

What rom/version? What provider? What troubleshooting steps have you taken?
Sprint. The ROM is just a rooted version of Gingerbread (2.3.3). The software number is 2.76.651.4. Troubleshooting? I don't even know what you're asking there. I have my keys, I've confirmed that. I tried one thing from the thread I linked. I can't connect. What else am I supposed to try?

Flash the new radio/wimax radio, update profile/prl/twice/reboot twice, tweak ##DATA# settings.
Read the Wiki here:

And search around the forum.

Unless your actually connected Network provider, Signal strength, and IP addresswill appear blank when you look in settings. If you've confirmed you have your keys, and are in a 4G zone. Then you can try a simple trick that sometimes works. Put the phone in Airplane mode for a few minutes. Then take it out of Airplane mode, and try to connect to 4G. If that doesn't work then go ahead and update the radios as VICODAN said. That should solve the issue.
Still no luck
I just tried all of those steps, besides the airplane mode one, with no luck, but I'm trying the airplane mode idea right now, and if that doesn't work, I'll elaborate.
EDIT:
Okay, no luck.
So I went through and flashed the newest radio and the wimax radio, and in the process I realized that I didn't actually have the newest radios beforehand. (I also learned that I hadn't yet formatted my microSD card to FAT32, so it's good that I realized that too. ) After that, I went into System Uupdates and updated Profile and PLR, then I rebooted, and I did it again, and I rebooted. You said to do it twice, so that's why, but you said twice twice so I wasn't sure which part to do twice. (Wow, that was a mouthful.)
After all of that, I tried the airplane more thing, with no success. I've connected to 4G in the past here, and the spring website even says my area has 4G coverage, so I know that's not the issue.
Also, about the tweaking ##DATA# settings, I mentioned that I tweaked it according to the link I put in the original post, but is there anything else I should try?
Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Last thing to try is ##rtn#, wipes fone and resets to factory defaults, then do hands free activation.
Also make sure your [email protected] stuff is configured properly. This is also somewhere in ##DATA# settings.
You can also try flashing a different rom like CM7
But before you do that call sprint tech support and tell them to fix it. They might be able to do something on their side.
Okay thanks, I'll call them later today.

So I called, the woman had me do a few things, and after hitting restore from the menu in ##DATA#, the 4G is behaving differently. Instead of scanning and returning to disconnectec, it now goes to "turning on ..." Then to "turning off ..." And back to on again. It cycles forever, until I manually turn it off.

Well it sounds like something is still wrong. Try flashing a different Rom to rule that out. If that doesn't work, and having WiMax is a must. Then you may want to think about running an RUU back to 2.2 stock. Then just start the whole root process all over.

[Q] Not registered on the network problems

I've read a lot on the internet but have not found a good answer for me. In certain locations, almost daily, I get either a "not registered on the network" message or a "sim not allowed ##3" message on my Infuse. If I switch the phone to airplane mode and then back off of airplane mode it always reconnects to the AT&T network. The problem started after I changed my ROM from Infused 1.5.3 to Zeus 6. I've flashed to Mind of Mac 1.4 but that didn't fix the problem. I've tried a new SIM card, different APN settings and several other changes, but it didn't help. If I have a good 4g connection it never has the problem. It never re-registers on the network until I do the airplane mode on and off thing or reboot the phone. My iemi number shows up weird on the phone too. What is the best way to fix this problem? Thanks.
No one has a clue?
No one has a clue how to fix the problem? It happens when I lose 3g or 4g connection.
What modem do you have?

Modem
I currently have UCLB3. I have tried a few different ones but it does the same thing with each one I've tried.
Sounds like you know what you are doing , unfortunately it sounds like a hardware issue. If going to settings > mobile networks > network operators and choosing AT&T does not fix it the only thing to suggest is return for repair or exchange. As you know, you will have to return it to stock so after you do that you may want to test it one more time. Sorry, not the answer you wanted but the best answer I have, Regards.

From recent experience - I would avoid using the fixes listed above as they will change your IMEI.
I say this as I was having a similar issue -- I had been running on the ParanoidAndroid ICS rom for a few days and my I997 started to do the same thing. Network connection was fine most of the time but it would occasionally drop out to no network. Except swapping between airplane mode didnt always fix it. If i rebooted the phone and it would pop up with "Unknown" Baseband Version, and no IMEI/IME SV until it connected again... whenever it decided to do so.
I flashed a few different modems to no avail.
Used GTG's stock restore... and it still showed no baseband or IMEI.
Searched through everything i could find and I found the 2 above posts. Being the cautious person that I am, I was skeptical to run the "fix" since I know playing with the efs folder can do.. fun things.. I backed it up with EFS Pro.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
So after that - I did the fix from those two posts. It worked. I got a signal. HUZZAH. But I could only make a few calls before it would drop out, and I couldn't send or receive text messages at all they would just stall and error out.
So I took a look at the IMEI again and noticed that it was NOT *my* IMEI, it was presumably the imei of the person who Truckerglenn got the backup from so long ago.
Figured at this point my phone is going to have to go back to Samsung to fix since it's still dropping out, the IMEI is wrong and I can't send texts
Can't break it anymore than it's already broken right?
Go back into root browser, delete the EFS folder entirely. *poof* gone. Reboot. Use EFS Pro to restore the backup I had created (GOOD THING!) phone reboots. Instantly picks up the signal again, I get 15 text messages, 2 voicemails AND my IMEI shows what it should be now.
*HOPEFULLY* it holds onto its connection now. If not, back to stock and back to samsung it goes - now with the correct IMEI. heh
Sorry for the long story
Thanks! May have found a partial fix.
Thanks for the tips and information. I think I may have found a partial fix. It seems that picking the "WCMDA only" in the "Network Mode" options seems to solve the problem for me. If it is set on "GSM/WCCMA (auto mode)" option, it seems to cause the "SIM not allowed ##3" or the "not registered on the network" problem when I am in an area where the 4G or 3G signal is weak. I will do some more testing. It appears that if I don't have 3G or 4G available in any given location my phone won't connect to the cell towers at all even though other users can connect without any problems. Does this give anyone any other ideas? Do I possibly just need new APN settings?
Have you tried flashing a new radio? Does a complete wipe and restore to UCLB3 make any difference?
Has any of these roms/firmwares that you flashed been done so through Aroma installer? I know Aroma gives you the option to change modems, and if your download was buggered that could have caused it.
I'm just tossing ideas around here... I'm up early and looking to help.
The work around works
Yes, I have flashed the radio but that didn't help. I have discovered the "fix" is to set my phone on "WCDMA only". It seems that the phone will only work if 4G or 3G is available. I am not longer getting the original error messages. So that's a good thing. If I ever go to where 3G and/or 4G is not available I will have to try something else. Thanks for all the replies.

HELP! :(

Is your device Rooted?
it doesn't mean that because you don't see the 3g indicator that your not on the 3g network it also depends on the carrier/PRL/Tower, did you enable data over the network?

[Q] Nexus 5 will not automatically connect to cell network

Hi All,
I've been having an issue after upgrading from a Nexus 4 to Nexus 5 where the phone will not re-connect to the home network (or will only reconnect to GSM with no data) after losing connection. This happens for example when going into an elevator or parking garage; I'll lose signal and when I get back into a signal area it won't reconnect unless I go to the "Mobile networks" -> "Network operators" menu and select "HOME" or "Automatic Registration". I'm using Straight Talk wireless with an older T-Mobile SIM (before they switched to only AT&T). I've called Straight Talk a few times to try and debug this, but the only instruction they've given me is to reset the APN and set it up again, which I've done a couple times to no avail. They claim that the SIM card is good on their end. Any ideas what might be causing this?
Thanks!

It sounds like the Baseband/RIL problems I had with my old LG OP2X with non-stock roms. For me, it was fixed switching to aeroplane mode and back, it could also get stuck there, I remember it once took me half a day to get it out for I didn't want it to wipe it.
Any way, may be it's not the same but it could be fixed flashing a baseband, I think I saw a thread about it somewhere around... Also, flashing the full firmware should —if it's not a hardware issue— solve the problem without doing much research.
HI

Hi Were you able to get a solution for this, My nexus 5 does not connect automatically to the network, it works only for manual search.
Please help...
Same problem here. Any solution?
I'm stuck with out any connection for the las two days. Tried removing battery, airplane mode. manual search. nothing.
Tried my line in other phone and it worked, other line in my phone and it didn't.
S4 I9500. Paranoid 4 Beta 4.
I don't have a really good solution, i reflashed my phone to stock and it did not fix the issue. I ended up switching carriers to T-mobile and haven't seen the problem since. It seems it was a SIM or network problem like i suspected

I still couldn't make this work I'm this close to buying a new phone... any idea?

Flashed US T-Mobile Galaxy s7 SM-G930T to Verizon. Wifi keeps disconnecting.

I recently acquired a Permanently Unlocked US T-Mobile Galaxy s7 SM-G930T. Since I have Verizon, I flashed it to the latest Verizon Firmware SM-G930V from sammobile using the latest Odin. Everything went perfect.
The only problem is that the wifi will not stay connected.
It will connect for a few minutes at a time, and then, despite it saying it is still connected to wifi, videos will suddenly not load, apps will not open. I run a speed test and then it will show the little exclamation mark on my wifi signal, only then showing that wifi is not connect or having problems. It's very tedious as I go based off the wifi signal to and since it says it's connected i am missing important notifications despite my mobile data being connected. I have unlimited data with my carrier so i could simply stay connected to mobile data at all times, but i would like to have my wifi working again. Does anybody know what may be causing this problem.
I tried flashing it back to T-Mobile. and once again everything works perfect. except for the wifi. So i believe it may have to do with the firmware, or maybe i need another file or files that i still need to install? I have been researching it for a week and i just can not figure out a solution.
I tried resetting my router, nothing.
Different older firmwares for Verizon from Sammobile, nothing.
Resetting Cache in recovery mode, nothing.
Unchecking Smart switch (function for it to switch between mobile and wifi automatically), nothing.
Unchecked Wifi and bluetooth scanning, nothing.
Can somebody please help?
Just asking, what were the bootloader versions of the T-Mobile and Verizon ROM's you went back and forth with? *Bootloader version can be found in baseband number i.e SM-930TUVS4CRL1, The 4 is the BL.
