Is the Sony smartwatch 2 worth it at $85?
Yes. Next question.
Yes.
compared to what?
u8?
pebble?
AW watches?
the u8 is cheap but crap
-screen unreadable outside
-crappy companion app
-screen is off in standby
-only 4 boring watchfaces
-hardly any firmware development
-must have phone or audio connection to phone, can't connect otherwise
the pebble is nice
-has a lot of support, both in firmware and 3rd party apps
-good companion app
-long lasting battery
-lots of watchfaces
i just don't like the design of the pebble, nor do i like the e-ink screen
the AW watches look nice, but AW hasn't evolved enough yet
and those watches are quite a bit more expensive
is the sw2 worth it?
i say yes:
-screen always on
-very readable in direct sunlight
-3rd party apps and watchfaces
-even though it's not high-res, it has a nice color screen
-good notification support, including filtered content from facebook and twitter
-battery life is pretty decent, about 3 days
-doesn't look as cheap as the pebble or u8
only wishes i have for the sw2 are native whatsapp support and a selectable screen timeout
hope this helps

This doesn't allow you to clear phone notifications from your watch though, is that right?
Also, I don't think it has a watchface widget?

No idea, neither are things I would look for in the app that forwards notifications.

So that means you have to clear notifications once on the watch and then again on the phone....
Not that I have a better way to propose. Watchify should be, but unfortunately doesn't work reliably and the developer is AWOL.

I never bother to clear notifications on the watch. They are there as a heads-up, but want them to stay on the phone anyway for when I actually deal with them.

With watchify (when it works) I see the phone notification icons on my watchface, so I can be sure not to miss a text message for very long fir example, even if I happen to miss the watch vibrating.

How do you miss it, it's on your wrist! Anyway, lots of watch faces allow you to add notifications if that's your thing, glad you have one that suits you.

I don't have one that suits me, that's the problem, watchify is too unreliable.....
I'd be very happy if you can point me to alternatives but as far as I know they don't exist!
watchify doesn't have a content filter does it?
i only want Tweets from certain people on my watch
i have the Sony smart extension for Facebook, Twitter, Gmail, Sms and Call handling
for Hangouts this one
for Whatsapp an app that's no longer in the play store, still hoping for a native version by Sony
JJW has pretty nice collection of watchfaces as well
Use "Notify Smartwatch" instead. It has widget, font size control, clears phone notification when cleared on watch and content filtering!

I tried that before.
I think a smartwatch should show notification icons on the watchface, same as you see in the notification bar on your phone, whatever you're doing on the phone. So just the icons. Then I can see if there's anything I need to action or clear.
Notify Smartwatch just shows the latest notification in the widget, same as with Sony's widget. It doesn't show all the notification icons.

Maybe you know this situation: Your phones lays on your desk, you're in the kitchen and you get called. You do not hear your ring and when you come back to your desk, you don't notice that you were called because your device has no notification LED (and you're not using NoLED)...
Therefore I made another small app, called "Vibration Notifier" (name is not final) which does the following:
When you have a missed call or an unread SMS, the app keeps vibrating every X minutes for Y times or until you turn on the display of your device.
It supports missed calls, SMS, GMail and any other app which puts a notification in the status bar once a new event occurs (like WhatsApp, Google Voice, etc.)
I think the attached screenshot describe the intention of the app pretty good
App is now available throught the Android Market: Vibration Notifier

Like vibrating every X minutes won't drain the battery? That's no excuse, make it work!
Nice idea for an app though, keep up the good work.
thanks
i also might have found a way to get some gmail notifications. i'm not yet sure if i have broken something now because i had to change some stuff, but it seems to work so far
This is a great idea for an app. I'll install it once it's in the market!
Also to people talking about battery use, vibrating uses hardly any battery at all. It is not going to be noticeable.
I have a tasker task that does something somewhat simmilar... when my battery level drops below 15%, my phone starts vibrating once every minute. It's a subtle "charge me!!!" hint.
I think this is a great idea even for the people that have LEDs like me. However, I don't think the limitation to calls, sms and gmail is a good idea. You should find a way of making all the notifications vibrate every x minutes or adding a lot more to your app. For example Whatsapp (I installed your app today but noticed it was only for certain notifications so uninstalled it ) and let's say Twitter, Facebook... all this stuff.
Looking forward to a more complete version of this!!

Nice one the thing I miss most on my Samsung is the notification light from most my previous phones. Will give this a go.

Great app, but 1 minute set is just under 3 minutes realtime. I seen you uploaded a new version, I got the previous one. It's running on a motorola Defy with 2.2.

Is there any widget that shows what would be in your notification bar?? Particularly one that is customizable. I want to put it on the lock screen, like the new IOS 5 lockscreen.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think standard (non-root) apps are allowed to read/see all your notifications.
Well I am rooted.

Wearable Widgets (beta) for Gear 2 is just out on the Samsung store. You can now use any mobile widget to show up on Gear 2 screen. The feature is really great and you can also control the widget from gear 2 like pass touch inputs to phone.
I have enabled zooper widget and use it to show time and weather and call tasker objects.
It is a bliss on Gear 2

This is a GREAT app!
Awesome app! One of the most useful apps available. Thanks!
SUPER ! ..Can I just add one widget?
Awesome. I installed it immediately. Off course for Tasker. I use Launch-X widget in which i create the shortcuts. But i find it to slow, especially when the phone is off.
I also used it to display my tasks, so i could read and fill in the items into another task app. Of the first section it was perfect. But when the screen of the watch is off and turned on again, the widget is reset for the first items. Not to the last scrolled position.
You can add only one widget per device..
I use zooper to add only my functions as a single widget.. Calendar, time , date , battery life and tasker icons

If you read the first post, you'd know the dev of this app isn't the OP. To answer your question though, the dev left this on G+
"Clarification for Gear 1 & 2 owners: Currently, the Wearable Widgets app has two editions, both with a significant limitation:*
• The one available through Google Play (including this beta group) does not support Gear 1 & 2 devices.
• The one you can download through Samsung's app store (including via the Gear Manager app) only supports a single widget at a time.
The reasons for this are complicated, but are generally due to a number of restrictions that Samsung has put in place. We are working to develop a solution to both of these issues, and will release it as soon as we can - but for now, this is how things stand, I'm afraid.
Thank you for your understanding, and your patience."

Just change the setting for what is shown on wake to last app / screen.
That means I need to go to the wearable widgets app continually before I am 'done' doing whatever I'm doing
The developer has indicated they are working on the ability to make this a watch face. I am looking forward to that update.

Thank You
That's great, Thank You.
As I've been using it - I actually don't mind having it not be the main watchface. What I've done instead is make it accessible from one of the 9 shortcuts from the Multi-Watch "swipe-up" launcher panel. That way I can still have the customizable watchfaces of multi-watch, but when I want I can launch an info panel widget that has time, date, watch battery level, currently connected wifi SSID, current weather w/ 5-day forecast AND my next 3 calendar appointments. Using a customized Zooper widget for this. I've made a request to Zooper to allow adding Google tasks list items and the phone's volume state to a widget.
So ive tried out the Watch styler app to change the watch face on my Gear 2 and to be honest wasnt to thrilled with the options that were available to make your own custom watch face. The ones for download arent to bad just looking for something of my own.
Has anyone had any luck with any other Watch Styler type apps? Either that or i would be happy with changing the color of the digital clock and say the weather widget that comes with the watch. The white is just rather boring.
Just looking for some tips here and hopefully give some others some more options!
Thanks guys

I've always favored Multi-Watch over the rest of the watch face customization apps. The ability to use any graphic for your background or using any wstheme watchface as a base to tweak your own is very powerful to me. Add on the ability to have a 3x3 launcher for watch apps when you swipe up makes it essential to me.

I actually stumbled upon that a few hours after i made that post so i greatly appreciate it! I just found that the watch face i picked really drained my battery today! I went from 5AM till about 4:30 PM and it died completely! Not sure if its the face or just multi-watch. Im going to charge it up and try another face. Maybe it was just that. Figured id give it a go before i put a ton of effort into customizing one. Just rather stinks that I had to pay for the app first to try it. But oh well. Its just a few dollars and it supports the DEV.
Thanks for your suggestion. Any feedback from your battery useage?

I normally don't use the premade wstheme watchfaces anymore, but I do remember certain ones eating my battery faster than the rest. What I do now is just take a graphic I like and make a clock face out of it, then customize the watch hands and other text.
I just customize the watch faces to my liking and use it via Multi-watch. Just waiting for the app to support weather and calendar as well.
Mutli-Watch app battery use is very low .. much efficient than Watch Styler.
Hey Guys,
I am yet to receive my HTC U11 but I just wanna check on a few things regarding notifications :
1) Do you get unread badge counters for emails, sms, missed calls, Whatsapp messages and Facebook? It is supposed to be like a red counter if I am not mistaken. Just want to know if apps like Facebook and Whatsapp get this too.
2) The Notification LED light is only RG instead of RGB yes? Would like to confirm on this.
Thanks in Advance Guys!

Hello,
my 2 cents: if you use Android Messages instead of HTC Messages, you do get a red badge counter for unread sms.
As for the notification LED, I think I've read somewhere thats it's RGB, but having received my U11 only yesterday late afternoon, I can't confirm...

Thanks man. I am more interested to know if Facebook or Whatsapp has unread message counters on the icons.
I get badge notifications for stock email, Twitter, and Next handcent SMS widget. None for Gmail, Facebook or instagram. Of course the last three is the App's fault, not the phone's fault.

Don't confuse the fact that HTC uses only two notification LED colors (green and amber) with the number of actual LED color components (RG or RGB).

Did you manage to find out how to turn on badge count for the facebook icon? Like yourself, only my facebook is playing up. Very annoying.
I can't say for sure that it will work with the Facebook app, but the current version of Nova Launcher replicates the notification badge functionality that Android "O" is going to have. So, if you're okay with switching to a different launcher, you might give Nova a try and see if it works there. (I'm running Nova on my U11, but I neither use Facebook, nor the notification badge feature, so I can't speak personally as to how well it works. Sorry).
There also the Tesla Unread companion app to Nova launcher

I can't get Nova to display any unread notifications using any of the three options (dynamic, numeric or dots). Very frustrating. This works on the LG G6 but I suspect it's because it is only on 7 not 7.1. Has anyone gotten this to work with the U11?

Does Nova Launcher mean you can't use the stock background and layout of the phone? Or is it possible to override Nova Laucher and use just Tesla Unread?

I got mine working with Nova and Tesla but wasnt using the standard background. To be honest, even though it "worked" the notification badges were rather sporadic and frustrated me.
So much that in the end I sold the phone and bought myself a Samsung Note 8. Guess what? Everything worked straight out of the box! HTC please take note (pardon the pun).
My recent experience will make me think twice before ever choosing another HTC product again.

Really?? That's so frustrating that they'd remove this feature - it worked fine on my HTC 10. Don't understand the thought process. I love everything else about the phone and personally am a big fan of the HTC/Google Android and less keen on Samsung. I feel dubious about using a third party app to completely replace the home screen, just for the notification feature (especially if it only works sporadically...)
