Ever wanted to launch that fancy Daydream screensaver easier? In your Android 4.2+ device's settings, you are only given the options to launch Daydream while docked or while charging.
Now, there is an easier way simply to launch Daydream, right from your home screen, no matter if you are docked, charging, or neither. Just press the icon, and Daydream will start.
I have heard a few people ask for such a shortcut, so I made this; if you have any suggestions or problems to report, please let me know. Also, this is ad-free and requires no permissions.
Google Play link: http://bit.ly/XuPPmv
Also, if you want the source, I will look into putting that up somewhere, too, but it really is a simple shortcut application.
Last thing: if anybody wants to make the feature and/or promo graphics for the app on Google Play, post them here, and I will probably use them.
I hope this shortcut helps somebody out there!

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.
I know this is no excuse, but I have been really busy. However, I got going this week, and have looked into adding more features.
The popular request seems to be for the daydream to start when the screen becomes idle. Well, I have included that, kind of. Some of the features I have added were hard to do, given the way that daydream was set up by Google. There will be a Daydream Launcher Plus app for 99 cents on Google Play that includes many new features and will help to further my development. Also, the current free app will be getting a minor performance update. I hope you enjoy whichever app you choose to use! And, I love all feedback, good and bad (but constructive ).
Have fun, XDAers!

Would it be possible for this to launch daydream after a while of the phone being idle?

Great suggestion! I will try to work this in there. Should it start when the screen goes to sleep naturally (set in Display Settings) or defined by this app?
Thanks!
Just suggestion, but maybe attach the apk to the original post?

Thanks for the app I was looking for something so I could leave poweramp on and not get image burn in, like a screen saver, which this does -though I notice I have to turn off screen timeout (presuming in all modes one needs to?)
Thanks
Edit: just changed my "car" profile in my profile settings to screen timeout "never", so that I guess easily enough solves it

Thanks, I am working on adding some settings, and I'll fix this, too. I just got really busy last week.
Hopefully, I'll update it by the end of this week.
Thanks again!

I know this is an older post but wanted to point out that modern led screens are very very hard to burn and it would take years n years of a solid non moving image to burn in, long after you would have retired most phones. Have you ever seen an image burned into any phone?

I have the Samsung Captivate with the Super AMOLED screen. Apparently some image burn in can occur, as I set power amp music player screen to not turn off when playing, and after not even that much use (maybe more than i realized), leaving it on in the car sometimes, now when it's a solid screen, such as solid grey, I can lightly see the buttons (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.) burned in, so wanted to avoid further burn in.
Great app
I just try it and can say that is great app. It is be more better if you make that daydream app start when screen in idle. That be perfect. Thanks again for your work.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have tried both Daydream Launcher and Daydream Launcher Plus on my Sprint Galaxy S4 running stock (rooted) 4.2.2 (MDL), and each time I launch the app it crashes and never runs. Any chance of getting this to work with the GS4?
Thanks.

Any chance of updating this app to work with the GS4, running latest firmware? I even purchased your premium version, and would love to use this.
I've sent you multiple crash logs from the app, sent you a direct email, and left feedback in the app store. Hopefully one of these methods reaches you.

Just finished my first released Android App. It is a Widget version of the Fibonacci Clock, found on Kickstarter.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.thebillington.laxe
I've also built a web app that does the same thing, using Javascript:
http://www.fibonacciclock.co.uk
Any feedback is very much appreciated as I'm not particularly great with material design. Also if anyone has any tips on how I can market a free app, that'd be most helpful.
Cheers,
thebillington
This post saved me from reinventing the widget! I've got the Android wear watch face!

Hi thebillington,
I’ve brought the Fibonacci Clock to Android wear! Check out the Fibonacci Clock/Fibonacci Watch face. When I was about to create the widget thankfully, I came across this post. Else I'd have unnecessarily created one!!

Any feed back is greatly appreciated. Be it, design or customisation or anything! Thanks!

That's awesome. Strange, we brought them out on the same day!
Unfortunately I don't have a wearable so I can't check it out, but the app looks really good
very interesting app.. thx..
just a minor finding..
the vertical spacing among the "squares" are a bit too broad (might be due to my apex launcher)..
the spacing in the play store screenshots looks much better..
can anything be done on this?
[edit]
one more thing..
the time displayed is using the round-to-the-nearest-5-minute-mark algorithm..
that means a display of 11:00 is in the range of 10:57:30-11:02:29 (just guessing on the seconds part..)
this is a bit non-intuitive to calculate..
could it be changed so that a display of 11:00 actually means 11:00:00-11:04:59, i.e., round-down-to-the-nearest-5-minute-mark approach?
anyway its just my opinion, and im not sure if there is a publicly recognised definition to display the time in fibonacci sequence..

Thanks for the feedback! I am trying my best with material design, but I have noticed that the clock does look slightly different on different devices. Because of the way I've done my XML layouts, I have no idea how to fix this, but I've been racking my brain. Hopefully in future the widget will look more uniform on all devices.
As for the rounding, I hadn't even thought of an alternative being used. Guess I just assumed 2:30 either side would do the trick. I will definitely include a 'round-up, round-down' option in a further update. Thanks for the suggestion!
Fun app !!!

The app is set to refresh every minute. I need to streamline my code so that it will refresh every 5 minutes exactly. However I'm still unsure of the differences of using the AlarmManager. I'm currently using the AlarmManager.RTC, which as far as I'm aware prevents the app from waking up the processor, meaning the app will wait to update rather than wait the phone from sleep.

Hey guys I would like to share an interesting watchface I found on the store a few days ago. So basically the only reason I got the gear S2 was to make my life easier by not having to reach in to my pockets for my phone. But the reality is that you still have to swipe, select and go through various menus just to get to the app you want to use on the gear S2. The watchface is called Customizable Watch with alarm, stopwatch, timer and torch by a developer called Hoseob Lee. The title is pretty much self explanatory and you can access all these functions just from the watch face, so you dont have to swipe and touch more buttons. And the best part is that you can customize the interface and the look of the watchface. It may take some time to get used to but I think its one of the easiest and useful watchfaces on the store once you get used to it.
Where did you find it? I can´t find it anywhere.....

Search Customizable Watch in the gear store and its an app by a developer named Hoseob Lee. It has 5 star rating
I downloaded one yesterday for free. Animated Matrix Watch. Interesting face an got built-in very brightness flashlight and funny battery indicator.
Face is very customizable and animation is smooth.
I decided to give it a go and try the Gear Watch Designer to make some watch faces. I started with my sports teams and then tried a couple premium faces. I'll probably create some more with the faces from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/themes-apps/watchmaker-500-watchfaces-monster-pack-t3276583
Only annoying thing is that I can't delete the stock faces on the watch - several of which I'll never use, and there's a limit of 15 faces you can add. Since I've made 8 faces so far, and downloaded a bunch more, I'm out of space! Guess I like to fiddle too much...
Anyway, feel free to post faces you've made. I'd like to get some ideas of what other guys have come up with...
I've done a few from that thread - but only the non-chronograph versions (There is no Chrono function in Samsung Gear) - I find it easier to use the default AOD. If someone root's the Gear S3 then you'll be able to delete the stock dials

Gotcha. I've rooted lots of phones, but this is my first smartwatch, and my first adventure into Tizen. Would the non-carrier (WiFi) versions be easier/done first? (Seems like Verizon always makes it harder!)
I'm guessing we'll need to root to see the .gwd files on the stock faces too? I'm able to link to the Timer app or the stopwatch app for my chronograph faces, but I'd like to have it switch to something like the Chronograph+ stock face. I just like the look of the chronograph face watches better.
Here's a few more I threw together last night...

You need to get Gear Watch Designer on a PC.
http://developer.samsung.com/gear/design/watch-designer
There are tutorials on how to use it. The files in that zip are components that can be added to make a face. Then you need to install it to the watch from the PC, by disconnecting the Bluetooth connection to your phone, and connecting via WiFi to the same network as the PC with the face file.
I recommend downloading some faces (.gwd files) from the Watchland app on your phone. Send them to your PC, and open them in Gear Watch Designer. Use them as a template to see how to put faces together. (And/or swap in you own components).

Simple. It would take like two seconds. Gear Watch Designer lets you adjust the color, or if you had a picture of a hand, you could easily swap it in.

PM'd. Note, the left dial is the battery, the right is % of step goal, and tapping them links to respective app. The bottom doesn't move, but links to the timer app. Link to stopwatch not yet supported to my knowledge.
Obviously, edit as you please.

No worries, I'm thinking you meant needle, but it's the second hand.
Just start clicking through the components on the bottom left in Gear Watch Designer until you highlight the second hand. Delete it. Then click, "Watch Hand" on the left, and pick a new one, or import the image of a new one. Edit properties - size, placement, etc. on the right. Done...
Hi guys,
So I've just recently got a gear s3 for Christmas and wondered if anybody makes custom watch faces? I tried but can't do it lol, I need a lot of training in using the program and a lot of patience!
I have a few ideas in mind and a couple of images of like incorperated into them if possible but I a different colour,
I'd like it to be very similar to the picture attached using the logo attached to replace the one in the picture, i would also like the dials and accessories to compliment it in either a silver of something other than Good, also is it possible to make it a precisionist type watch face?
Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated
P.s it won't let me upload images so I would be able to email them to whoever would be able to help me
Many thanks in advance

I just got the watch a week before Christmas and I am finding it hard to find a perfect watchface also. I know with apps such as Facer and WatchMaker you can create your own watch so it might come to that. I went through so many pages of watches and I am so indecisive its ridiculous haha. Most of the watch faces show alot of S-Health info which I dont care about, especially the completely inaccurate step counter.
This is pretty much what I am looking for...
-Shiny Silver in color (preferably)
-Analog Clock with Roman Numeral numbers (White numbers with silver outside, only want this to be shown in AOD and nicely dimmed)
-Small digital clock on the bottom center
-Weather info somewhere on home-screen (top center, when pressed takes to weather app)
-Watch and Phone battery percentage info somewhere on home-screen (maybe right and left center?)
