Is there any widget that shows what would be in your notification bar?? Particularly one that is customizable. I want to put it on the lock screen, like the new IOS 5 lockscreen.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think standard (non-root) apps are allowed to read/see all your notifications.
Well I am rooted.

i'd like this too, also rooted, something minimalist would do nicely

Thats what i'm using now
It works well and its fairly customisable but it only shows notifications for calls, texts and emails.
I think Tennis11 and me are both looking for a widget that shows all notifications e.g. facebook, calendar, app updates, IM etc

This is the only thing that I've been missing since moving from a Sense ROM/launcher.
Does a nice scrollable widget exist that's similar to the stock Friendstream one?
EDIT: I've tried out Socialite, but it seems to never sync properly and eventually force closes on the CyanogenMod nightly builds.
I miss it too.
Try Pure Messenger Widget.

OP if you try Pure Messenger let us know what you think. I use Socialite and it seems to work okay... but could be better of course.

EDIT: I was just too tired to realize what I was doing incorrectly. Trying to get a widget setup that looks decent.
All of the different variants of the Sense style widgets look really "off" for some reason. Looking further, it's definitely the pictures, as they trail a bit off the left side of the widget. (See pic)
I'm also not fond of the left/right arrows on the widget. I only set up FB, so I don't need non-working buttons.
Pure Messenger will make you forget Friend Stream every existed.

Use the scrollable version with ADW/LauncherPro. It is better than FriendStream.
Like so:
Nice setup TheBiles.
PureMessenger > friendstream with the ability to use skins, add email and sms along with twitter and FB to stream, ability to select preferred clients for clicked feed, and oodles of config settings in a nice scrollable UI with ADW or launcherPRO. Well worth a buck-fifty.
I wouldn't consider Pure messenger better than Friendstream myself.
It's nice... but sadly needs a few fixes in my opinion
1) Won't display 'mobile upload' picture notifications properly. It only shows 1 picture in the internal viewer with no way to go directly to the person's photo list.
2) Pictures display as filenames in the list view, rather than the actual thumbnail as sense does. (This might be considered user preference, but I'd prefer to see a picture rather than <randomwords>.jpg )
3) No support for built in HTC applications for Facebook nor Twitter (aka peep). While the internal viewer can be dismissed in favor of a real 'app', the selection is limited to bout 3-6 apps none of which are the built in parts of HTC's rom. (Of course if you're not using HTC roms then this isn't problem
Overall it's a great app, and the best out there I've seen, don't get me wrong.. but Friendstream still has the edge in actual functionality for basic use. Sure, No themes, lack of customization hurt, but when it comes down to using the product for what it's intended for (Keeping up with posts/photos from your friends) it has a few issues IMO.

Overall it seems "ok" but lacking in some ways as well. You can't post directly from the widget, which is a huge strike against it. I want the widget so I don't have to clutter my homescreens with redundant apps.
Guess I accidentally went past my 24 hours so I am the proud owner, or some such thing.

I'm using the scrollable widget currently, and like I said, it's neat to watch updates, but it's a killer that I don't see an obvious way to post anything to FB/Twitter through the widget, instead I'm forced to use the app.
It just feels "clunky" for lack of a better term.
I will say that the widgets can be set up to look better, it just seems that some of the skins are definitely not ones any OCD person would want to use.

It's Launcher Pro. I'm using the Froyo wide dock (in settings) and just setting up normal apps and using the Launcher Pro icons for them.
I like how it looks with a nice black/white theme.

Erm. You just click that little star, and select "update status." You never have to open the official apps. You can also click that little arrow and select "open Facebook" so you don't ever need an icon on the screen in the first place.

Where did you get that toolbar at the bottom. It looks a lot like mine but with a few more icons. Is that a 4g between the wireless and sat?

That's Extended Controls. The second icon is the Froyo hotspot toggle, but it does have a 4G toggle option. I just don't have it on there because 4G doesn't work with CyanogenMod at the moment.

Well crap, it looks as though I'd always been fat-fingering the arrow and only saw the "open Facebook" link in there.
I recant my previous statements and accept that this is a damn fine alternative to Friendstream. (after a little getting used to)
The only issue that I have with Pure Messenger is this: When a FB contact posts something on someones' wall it doesn't show who the other person is, even if the other person is one of your contacts it doesn't show.
Got socialite running on newest cyanogen nightly. Its pretty nice really, I actually like it better than friend stream.
This is just a thread for my application: Metro UI. Please post any suggestions. I would post a link...but it won't let me. My Application is called Metro UI (BETA).
Was checking this out the other day! I didn't understand how to get the tiles going. Any help?
This. Is. Awesome.
How do you remove tiles though? it added 2x SMS tiles for some reason, and I can't find a way to remove one of them.
*edit*
NVM worked it out, just long hold the app in the app list.
Great app i like this interface a lot especially after last update
this is my suggestions for improvements so far...
-I would like to see the option to hide applications in the "appdrawer"
- Needs folders ( in the squares, it would look nice if the folder looked like the home screen so that you push the folder square and get to an page whith more squares). sorry for my bad English, hope you understand what i mean...
- would be nice to be able to resize and rearrange the squares
- also more custom icons
later on I would like to see an lockscreen in the same theme and perhaps the ability to place widgets in the squares but thats not important at the moment
but as i said in the beginning , great app i will follow this closely
Verry nice, great work!

Agreed, being able to use this interface with the millions of Android WM7 icons out there would be brilliant. Give us the option for 3x1 etc panels and an image chooser and you are on to a winner.

edit/ destroys the battery, 10% usage after being installed 20 minutes on a battery unplugged for an hour wtf?

The app is awesome... icons in the squares are a bit small. Havent had any problems with battery life on my samsung fascinate.
Would like to see the actual wp7 animations though. The cubed music app uses it in the" boring" layout, so it can be done.
Want to say thanks and keep up the good work. Sms tile updated with go sms, so that's pretty cool.
Well done sir.

Really nice app. Quite smooth, although on some moments it is choppy, but hope it gets fixed in final version. Even when it is in beta it is the best Metro like Launcher.
Def considering buying the full/final version. Also think about Metro like lockscreen.
This is very good!
Miss custom images and colors, and a sort option. And how about transparancy? Also if I use the back button, it exits the app..
But a very good start!

I can confirm this too. If are installed more than one Launcher, with the back button it opens an other Launcher.
Metro-UI taskbar needs other icons e.g. BT, GPS, etc then only battery and singnal.
Great app. I was wondering if any possible way to get counts for tweeter and regular email? That would be awesome, otherwise very smooth on my phone.
Hey its the nicest metro ui till date, and the best part is its so light. And its super fast on my desire.
Well done sir, hope to see more customization soon, and it is currently my UI choice.
Thankyou
just thought of a suggestion. Could you give the option in the metro ui settings to turn off the highlight when you press a tile?
tiles dont show up on my mt3g
On my Droid X after I installed nothing shows up. I get the top area with battery, 36, signal, clock, and arrow but no tiles or anything, just black below that.
Any help?

You need to add tiles. You can do that by opening the app drawer and long pressing the apps you want.
FYI - You can later remove those apps by long pressing them in the app drawer again.
I am wondering if anyone has or is able to develop a new lockscreen idea. One of the greatest things in Android is the drop down notification window. It has everything on there that you need to know. All the missed calls, texts, etc., that we all add to our lockscreens. Why can't the notification window be the lockscreen? Turn off the phone and the notification window drops, so when I turn it back on that is what I see - still clickable (with the option to turn off the clicks) and the way to unlock is to raise the notfication window back up.
Anyone?
Notification screen doesn't show me my upcoming calendar events, my current 'top priority" note, my return to owner note, the weather forecast for the next 5 days, etc, etc....
Widget Locker FTW.

Thank you, I appreciate the effort! I agree that the click-able idea is something that could lead to issues, which I counter with making it optional. I really like the swipe idea though! Even better!
That's actually a pretty awesome idea I would like to see something like this also
So Im loving this phone just like everyone else but im curiouse if it is possible to have the number of missed text and stuff on my lockscreen while i have security on such as the pattern feature? Or does it have to be on swipe in order for me to see any of this?

Use goSMS pro. You can customize it to act like an iPhone whenever someone texts you, it will show up in your screen without unlocking.

Really now? is it possible to get a screen shot of an example of this? haha just because im kind of married right now to the stock messaging app but that little detail you just mentioned might make me switch
Android 4.0 allows you to access the drop-down notification bar from the lockscreen. I'm not sure if it works when there's a password, though.
I don't have access to my phone for the next week, so I can't exactly test it for you, either.
EDIT:
So I looked up the issue a bit more, and found this old thread from last year talking about the GoSMS Pro lockscreen pop-up notifications:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231142
For some people it worked, but for others, it didn't. I suggest you give it a quick read.
Try DashClock of you are on 4.2 - looks great and does exactly what I need!
Search it up on Google Play, I cant post links yet
the drop-down notification bar from the lockscreen.
is there any way or app that can categorized notification in status bar? for example mail only got 1 notification but have number depend on how many new mail come, and so the rest app.
i usually miss important notification because so many notification and it stack by another notification

You can use an app called "sms unread counter". It only applies to icons on your homescreen. It works for calls, sms, and emails. As far as I know there is no way to do it in the pull down bar just with icons on the screen.

If I'm not mistaken Android kind of does this on it's own. I know if I get an email in my status it shows the notification. Then in that notification it can say +5 more emails. Then I can drag down on that notification to see the other emails without fully opening them.
You could try the app floatify to see of that will help you.
Yeah, through the same app the notification should not create a new notification but instead increase the number on an already existing notification.

hi Lokke. thx for reply
unfortunately calls, and sms is what i barely use. in other hand, such email, bbm, twitter, chat group is what i mostly use, and sometimes in group chat or community chat (bbm, line, whatsapp, and else) new chat just for new information about whats going on if that case i just slide to close notification. but sometimes also new important information come, and i barely see it because it stack with another notification

thats what i thought, and i'm pretty sure if notification only per app not per new notification, it will come in handy.

on the other case if there is really no app or way to do it, i think this will be bring new idea for developer to make such thing like this, is not like iam demanding, commanding, or asking for the developer to made it, but consider it as an opportunity to make small step for android, because for me it will be usefull, and i hope for the rest who own an android devices. i mean come on guy, is android, free to do whatever it suite you, the problem is i even dont know where to start. lol
