[Q] Weird Issues on official Motorola 5.0.2 (brazilian) - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
Well I have the most indescifrable issue with my Moto g (xt1032).
It was aquired with kitkat, the day 5.0.1 GPE was released I installed it, making it a xt1033 GPE.
When Motorola´s 5.0.2 was released (brazilian) I downgraded to 4.4.4, and went ahead and installed moto´s 5.0.2 for the camera..
The next day, all was going ok, wifi, gps, moblie data etc.. not a single issue.... I had made calls, sent sms, etc... but around 12:00m (lunchtime) I saw "emergency callls only".... (I have not cutted the sim card to fit in the phone).
At that time, I swapped sims, (I´m on Claro colombia, I put a Virgin Mobile Sim..) and it worked again. I could call, send messages and stuff.
But yesterday That Virgin mobile sim stopped working, Now I face the following notification: Selected network (Claro) Unavailable.
I also get another notification about Resticted mode changed.
and yet another notification that says my sim card cannot be used to register on said network.
And another notification that says cannot send mms without registering something.
And another notiication about Voice service disabled...
this is driving me crazy....
The first thing I thought was of factory resetting the phone, to no luck, as my phone gets stuck at the red exclamation android and never goes to recovery.
I tried to install Phillz recovery but I get fastboot errors.
My phone is rooted btw, bootloader unlocked.
Is this my fault? as in I did a massive screw-up, or is it the software or is it a change on the provider´s end? I dont know.
What would you recommend doing at this point?
I have entered test mode and selected GSM only, but no luck.
Please, please shine a light on me, searching for no service and specific notification content only guides me to kit kat issues, which I really don't know are applicable to lollipop.
Mercí for your attention guys, have a good night.

I had the same issue (I'm also on Claro Colombia). All you need to do is flash the official Motorola Lollipop 5.0.2 and it'll be working fine.
Firmware 5.0.2 XT1032 http://www.filefactory.com/file/5i311qq8mguf/BRASIL_XT1032_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid12_CFC.xml.zip
Follow this guide: http://motoroot.890m.com/restore-stock/
Don't skip any step.

Thanks mate, will try and post results.
Anyway, just to know.. why does this happen?
Why is that the radio was working all right and suddenly went kaput?

Help ! Persistent call connect problem & incomplete file copy/move issue in XT1033
I am facing network issues on my dual sim moto g (xt1033) almost since I bought i.e even when my device was on jellybean & now when I am on KitKat.
The issues I face are:
i. People are unable to reach my number/contact me almost 90-95% of the time. They tell me u were unreachable.
ii. Sometimes when they call, my phone rings for 3-4 times(only hearable to me) but the caller didn't hear any sound of the call getting placed/connected and phone ringing.
iii. while browsing data(both 2g/3g), network frequently drops. it doesn't show that it dropped. I get to know when the respective app shows that you have an internet connection failure (for e.g facebook)
Things I have tried to resolve but failed:
i. Flashed revolution g v3 brazilian stock rom and reflashed indian radio/baseband to overwrite it. got both sims working but "call connect" issue did not go.
ii.Swapped sims on both the slots. I use a BSNL 3g sim & an airtel 2g one. I noticed after swapping/may be restarting calls getting connected a bit sooner/proper than they did before. but a day after again same issue & it just doesn't seem to go.
Can anybody please tell what can be done to resolve this? Is this a hardware/software issue ? I get it irrespective of data switched on/off.
If everything fails I have no option but to convert my asian dual sim moto g into a european single sim xt 1032 as explained here http://forum.technofaq.org/discussion/53/moto-g-xt1033-turn-your-xt1033-dual-sim-into-an-xt1032-single-sim/p1 Since it's system version is 174.44.9, I believe it contains the network fix.
My current device stats:
Bootloader unlocked, rooted, stock indian firmware with philz cwm recovery
system version : 171.44.31.falcon_umtsds.AsiaRetail.en.03
Build number : KXB20.25-1.31
Use 2 sims with both active
Update: Jun 1 2014
Have relocked the bootloader & downgraded to jellybean, still face the network issue
Facing a copy/move issue these days
After selecting all the files in the phone explorer (mtp mode) & trying to copy them to my win8.1 notebook the process automatically terminates/window vanishes midway. There's no error/warning thrown but all files do not get copied. I have tried to do the same thing but failed everytime. I tried to copy 6GB of files/folders. Everytime only 4GB gets copied & remaining(some folders with data) left out. why is this happening ? is this because they are being copied in mtp mode ?

Since you've already unlocked the bootloader, try CM11 or any other ROMS. Let me know how it works out. I'm facing the same issue but don't want to unlock bootloader as I might not be able to return it.

@rajibie & @major9 Thank You for taking the time to reply. The first thing I did after unlocking the bootloader & rooting was install CM snapshot m5 . But unfortunately I wasn't able to hear the person on the other end clear enough. sound was too low. Therefore I returned to stock rom.

Dear # MotoG customers, we’ve uncovered an activation

Moto G and have network connectivity problems this may
apply to you. This is due to a programming error from our

Verizon HTC One M8 - kitkat 4.3.3 update

Hi everyone,
I was working in usa and I bought a cell phone verizon htc one m8, with kitkat 4.4.2.
Now, I'm living and working in Brazil.
When I try to update my kitkat, is blocked and this message appears: "Software update only work in CDMA mode".
Here in Brazil the service is GSM not CDMA.
Please, where I find the kitkat 4.4.3 (or upper) to do download and update?
And, how I do this? What is the procedure?
Recently, my cell phone reset to factory default, without my desire, by self!
I think that exist some serious problem in kitkat 4.4.2 to happen this.
Please, help me to solve this issue.
Best,
Daniel

Your phone likely reset because you have a pin on the lock screen. Ten failures means it factory resets. They updated the lock screen now to avoid that.
Hi,
Thanks, for the tips...
The cell phone is working fine in GSM network, without problems.
I'd like to update to kitkat 4.4.3 (or upper), please, you know the link to download the OTA file and how install?
Thanks,
Daniel
If you want to update it without problems you will have to get software thru htc sync on pc.

Go to HTC website and download their Sync program. Connect your phone on USB and give it a few minutes. It should update.

[Q] Wont recognize SIM card after flashing rom on MOTO G PLEASE HELP!

Hello, i recently thought about flashing a rom on my phone, i did all the basic stuff unlock boot loader, root etc but when i put the file on my device i got stuck in a bootloop, so i panicked a little and went on to google to find a STOCK ROM for the moto g. I found one and flashed that instead, it did infact save my device and i was so happy at the point, but then i noticed that at the top on my task bar it said i had no signal on BOTH Sdcards when infact this phone only has 1!? (my o2 simcard was in at the time) Anyway i went into setting and it had above he wifi setting "Dual SIM settings" which i have never even seen before. Anyway i clikced on that and it says 'SIM1 Disabled' and below it says 'SIM2 Disabled' Also my Mobile DATA has vanished to. All this worked before i went and screwed up my device. Im kind of in a panic and really dont want to loose this phone :crying: :crying: Please can anyone help get me back my signal and data, other then that everything else is working normal.
Screenshots Attached.

You have flashed a single sim variant of the stock ROM on your device, find the dual sim version for your phone here: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
Also, of course your data has gone as your phone has undergone a reset and firmware flash
All of them are not for 4.4.4 or does that not matter?

Absolutely. From experience, you must flash the dual sim variant. Unfortunately, there is 4.4.4 available, but only for the States. You might PM me the OTA update package and I'll be able to help.

nightmare trying to get CM12 to boot on 4g XT1039 - no calls but data works on stock

Hello all
I recently got a Moto G 4G XT1039 in the UK which was on the o2 network, which I've unlocked.
I want to use my Three network simcard, which works fine on stock firmware, BUT the baseband is o2's one, so with my three sim card the data works, but calls doesn't "mobile data not available" so...
Can I flash a stock standard baseband?
I've tried unlocked bootloader and installed CM12 but it get stuck in bootloop at the cm animation, so i've restored to stock... I'm oblivious what to do next?!?
Any help would be appreciated...
I just want calls to work!
Thanks in advance.
Ok i've read I need to intall cm11 first to get it to boot as cm12 just stuck in boot animation but for the life of me cant find any cm11 download links, anyone know any?
Thanks
Hi, please help, moto g xt1039 works fine on 2g calling.. but when select 3g or lte,
it doesn't connect call, always call ended automatically.. any solution please..??
Did you ever update the phone to 5.1 stock ?, if so it should work fine. If however you went straight from KitKat to CM12, that's your problem, the radio firmware needs to be updated. Links to it are in the stock image threads on this board.

XT1225 radio problem

Hi All,
I bought XT1225 on ebay and I can't return it. So when I run on 4G network, everything works fine until I go into some places where is certainly no signal; After signal is gone, it can't turn on again. I tried to unplug the SIM and reinsert it, turn airplane mode off and on again, and nothing did the trick until reboot. I am using *#*#4636#*#* to check phone status, the GSM radio is off and I can't turn on it's radio even I clicked the button "turn on radio".
I am currently running latest version of stock rom. Anyone have idea why? and how to fix it?
after using logcat -b radio, here is the result:
D/RILJ ( 1668): [4364]> RADIO_POWER on [SUB0]
D/RILC ( 341): SOCKET RIL_SOCKET_1 REQUEST: RADIO_POWER length:16
D/RILC ( 341): RequestComplete, RIL_SOCKET_1

What exactly is wrong with this radio?

Yes I did factory reset and fresh reflash everything, problem still the same.
anyone have idea?
Hi there,
I have the exact same problem, and actually here is what caused it.
I bought Moto Maxx XT1225 from eBay roughly a year back, it was Puerto Rico version. Since early 2015, I noticed it lags at times. I also noticed the other varients of Moto Maxx XT1225 (Indian) got Lollipop update, however PR version still on Kitkat. Researching through Xda developers, and I knew my XT1225 PR version can be flashed with Indian firmware, and gain Lollipop update, as the internals are identical. I also hoped I'd fix the lagging issue of Moto Maxx, and clean up the device wish a fresh start.
But then, after I flashed with Indian firmware for XT1225, I noticed this issue which you're experiencing now. On 4G LTE, its all good, as well as on 2G. But If you're on AUTO mode, you'd frequently switch between 3G and 4G, and the issue comes then. At random times, when the phone switches to 3G mode, radio gets turned off somehow, and the only solution is to turn it OFF and then back ON. It happens only when switched to 3G cell, and doesnt happen always. I suspect this is due to some incompatibility of Puerto Rico radio and Indian firmware of Moto Maxx XT1225.
Go to SETTINGS > ABOUT PHONE > and check SYSTEM VERSION.
My system version: 22.34.11.quark_reteu.reteuall.en.EU.amxpr (ending with PR, hence Puerto Rico)
My Baseband version: MDM9625_104438.245.02.85p QUARK_EMEA_CUST (Previously, this also had PR in the version number, but after the flashing its gone)
While I flashed, I flashed radio as well as system and all other parts, but somehow this happened. I'm waiting for Marshmallow to my phone, will probably reset it and reflash the PR version. For now, I'm forced on 2G most of the time (on WiFi at home and office), and while I drive within the city, as cell switching between 3G and 4G happens often, and then radio goes off.
I believe flashing the original firmware might fix it, you just need to figure out which version your device was on before this happened. In my case, if Marshmallow gets delayed beyond December, I'll flash PR version to check again.

Thanks for your detail reply,
I tried to flash all other version of stock rom, only India 5.0.2 stock work without having issue with baseband version "Unknown", I couldn't turn on radio as you did, the only way to make GSM radio turn on is by reboot.
Anything we could hack around to make it work?

I believe flashing the original firmware might fix it, you just need to figure out which version your device was on before this happened. In my case, if Marshmallow gets delayed beyond December, I'll flash PR version to check again.

That's right, my phone is initially from Puerto Rico, and I flashed Indian firmware 5.0.2 back in September, and has been facing this issue since then.
When I'm on 4G, and when an incoming/outgoing call happens, the phone gets switched back to 3G, and sometimes radio goes off. Once this happens, there is no cure, but to restart the phone. To prevent this from happening right after restart, I switch to 2G ONLY mode, and then reboot, and can make calls and send SMS. Like I said, I'm tethered to WiFi most of the time, and whenever I really need to browse, I force to LTE only with the USSD code *#*#4636#*#*.
I think this problem has got to do something with baseband version respective to the firmware region. Any clue as to what your phone initially had, was it Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico or Indian?
If I find any cure to this, or a more permanent solution, I'll post it here.

I have no idea what's the original region of this phone. I am guessing India because all other firmware baseband doesn't work.

By the way, do you think it's a hardware issue?

No, I believe its got something to do with firmware compatibility with radio software. All these problems started after I flashed it with Indian firmware.
In addition to the random radio off issues, my device randomly reboots while I'm in the middle of doing something. It gets damn slow at times, and then phew, reboots. Random freezes do also occur, and I'm counting on Motorola to start rolling Marshmallow for XT1225, trying to stay calm until then, so that I can try the new firmware, and if that doesnt solve it, can downgrade to 4.4 for Puerto Rico, and install 5.0.2 OTA from there.

I never used RSD Lite, sorry about that.
Download the firmware from the links, and I suggest you use 'Flash Firmware on Moto Maxx Using Motorola Fastboot' method.
