Hey guys.
I have a problem with my Z3.
It is the D6603 Model and it is stock and not rooted.
I resetted it to give it to a friend and then i cleaned it with a bit water. Just a few drops, not much.
Everything was closed.
After i did this the screen was dead.
The touch, the led and the led flash are working.
I can start the sony, it vibrates makes a sound and i can hear the unlocking sound if i swipe over the screen.
And if i hold the camera button it makes the start sound of the starting camera and the flash works if i fokus with the camera button..
But the screen is always black.
I resetted it with sony pc conpanion again but no reaction..
What can i do?
Edit: Now it doesn't show any more reactions..
It is dead now..

Hello,
I recently bought Sony XPERIA J which accidently slipped into water tank which with no doubts remove the warrant of My phone & have caused several issues with its working. I kept the phone switched OFF for 5 days and successfully removed moisture from its motherboard. When I turned it ON everything is fine except malfunctioning of WiFi & several Touch Screen issues.
1. The problem with Touch is that whenever I press the POWER KEY to unlock phone I have to wait for atleast 5-10 sec for TOUCH to start responding. Is this a software issue or is it a hardware and also is there any way to fix it.?
2. Another problem is the small LED light (notification indicator), it is constantly glowing BLUE and does not show any other color for any notification and even never turns OFF. Can it be fixed?
3. Problen with WiFi is that it just keeps on trying to turn itself ON with no success, which is consuming the Battery Power a lot. How can I turn OFF the WiFi permanently?

Dude, those are clearly hardware issues. There's no way we can help you with that... take it to a repair store or try your luck with the official warranty.

Thanks for Your reply.
I actually took it to the sevice centre but the said it can only be fixed by replacing the motherboard which costs Rs10000/- , so I just thought of asking for help over here.
Alright, I can bare with these TOUCH & LED issue, but I really need to disable WiFi, so is there any way to do it like removing WiFi module or something like that?
you can try and say to the service centre officials that it started happening after u tried to update but it failed...ofcourse you have to find another service centre
just prove this is happening due to software reason even though it isnt
As they say, bring it to a Sony care point.

My phone doesn't rattle but it's normal for cameras in phones to rattle a little sometimes if they have a mechanical (optical) zoom/focus mechanism. Check out the camera fully, exercising that functionality.

No zoom, but It can focus a lot. And sometimes you can hear that when you press focus button in camera.
This sound may or may not be sound of problem.
If everything is working fine, no need to service center.
P.s If I remember good, z1 have 172 AF focus points. So lens are movable.

Slight lens rattle is normal if you shake it hard enough. My OnePlus has a rattle as does my Nexus 5. Again, if you shake it hard enough... With my Nexus 5, the power button rattles slightly if I shake it hard enough.
I have experienced a similar power down scenario as you. My phone was plugged in to AC for the night using a Magnetic Charger and at some point it turned off. I changed to a different type of Magnetic Charger and the problem hasn't happened again.
I gave my Z3 a little bath in tap water in the sink. It was not submerged so this is more like a shower. I double checked and secure the ports. I don't even use the ports anyway because I have magnetic charging. I dried it and started using it. It was all fine until 5 mins later it just randomly turned off. Battery was good, tried using the power button and it wouldn't work. So I did the power button and volume + method and it fixed it. But the touch screen didn't work sometimes (randomly), there was a blinking red light before I booted it on, and there is rattling near the camera area when i shake it. I ran diagnostics and noticed that my screen was also flickering. Some of the tests used vibration as feedback and this made the flickering worse. Now the screen is struggling to stay lit. It turns on for 3 seconds and then it dies. You can only see parts of it too. I need help. This phone is unusable. I bought this phone (Sony Xperia Z3 D6603 black) from Worldwide Distributors on Amazon.com 3 months ago. I only took it into the water a few times. I don't think its water damage because I had the flaps secured unless Sony gave me a defective phone. I paid $700 for this and I'm not rich either. I was saving up. The phone has the standard 2 year warranty. Somebody please help. what should I do? Will Sony fix it or give me a new one?
UPDATE: Screen is dead. It still turns on and touch screen still works but cant see anything. It's like it lost signal . Kinda like how a tv loses signal. The tv still works but are no shows on.
IMPORTANT: I just found a little hole that shows part of the screen backlight. Its on the side but its more like a crack. I haven't drop this or anything. So this is possibly how the water got in. This is also Sony's fault. Will I get a new replacement or refund or repair or something?
Thanks for all your help.

Happened to me too! The screen is black but is showing the brightness and the touch works. It's totally weird!. i'm going to send the phone to SAT
Seems the lcd backlight is still working where the lcd screen is not;
not sure whether the warranty covers water damage or not...
Got around the same problem. happend in the water screen went black phone was still working. After a lot of reboots and resets it started to work for around 3 seconds then evantually the screen was staying, but is flashing now, looks like the flickering happens when the screen gets too much power. In light conditions it either flickers or is real dark.
What can I do to fix this? Or do I just contact Sony? I've also tried the pressure test and it is water resistant so it has to be something different.
If the screen is cracked they will charge you for the replacement for sure

Hi. I've noticed that my screen flickers when I put the brightness on maximum. Watching the behavior it makes me think that it happens all the time, but it's only noticeable the screen brightness is high. Tried to get it on film, but my camera does not seem to pick up the flickering.
I noticed this after a pool bath with my phone, but i don't know if it is related to that. I did not a chance to use maximum brightness before
I do not have any other issues though, just the flickering. Should i send it to repair? My phone is an 6633 Dual Sim Z3 (Brazilian, unbranded) with less then 3 months of usage.
Just bought Z5 dual in green.
Still brand new, 1 hour old.
A moment ago, power button got a bit sticky and would not pop back up.
Therefore could not turn screen on.
It has gone away since, only happened once.
But I am fairly sure that after this episode, power button started to make a tacky clicking sound every time I press the button.
QUESTION
does your z5 make this sound, and it's just that I failed to notice it from the beginning? Is this normal?
Was the power button getting stuck once a fluke, and won't happen again? Or could it be manufacturing defect?
Bit of a hassle to go back to the shop for exchange, and wanted to know if this sound is normal amongst other users or not.
Thanks for your replies in advance!
Any comment or opinion is greatly appreciated!
My power button clicks every time I use it which isn't often since I have tap to wake and the fingerprint sensor set up. Never got stuck though.

Just wanted to check, that my button clicks in sensation when pressed, as well as making the clicking sound at the same time.
Hard to describe, but I would say it sounds similar to a pc mouse clicking sound.
If I was blindfolded and someone wss clicking my power button, I could have thought that someone was using a pc mouse
Yours sounds like this too?
Yeah, it clicks at a slightly higher pitch to the volume key click.

Yes, mine sounds exactly like that.
Got the same issue, it's like the power button is sliding down, and you have to push it up to make it clickable again.
Thanks for your input guys.
I went back to sony centre where I got it from, and checked other Z5's
Since they all made similar clicking sounds, I decided to wait and see how it goes.
If I get the sticky power button again, I will return it.
Other than that, it is running beautifully!
It runs cooler than my Z3 too!
I got this thing too and i dont know if take it back to support... I started to noticed it up when i disabled fingertip sensor to unlock it just to check some stuff.
So maybe its my paranoia lol

Are you talking about the power button not coming back up? Our the stake clicking sound?
Update in my situation
Since the initial problem, it had not happened or repeated again, so I can say that it has worn in nicely.

In the clicking sound
The Power button is clicky. It is not a fault!
The clicking sound is normal but even mine got stuck once, had to press it a few times to get it to come back up. Yours certainly wasn't an isolated incident.
I have been in a shop checking a new one and the button doesnt need to press so much like mine one. The girl has said me that if i send it to support they wont do anything to the phone because it does work well. Its just a little diference touch...
I will send it to support in december that i wil get a phone from a friend so i can use it while the checking thing
I have a gold Z5 (I know!)
They power button slipped downwards under the casing as I used it. EE were actually really helpful for once and replaced it as I'd only had it 4 weeks. Unfortunately the replacement phone has the same issue. It doesn't affect the function of the button at all, I just worry that it will slide down too far into the body and not come up again.
I don't think EE will replace it again as the guy was very nice and tried a few different ways to log the problem until it was accepted for replacement. It seems to be a problem for a few people, but as long as it keeps working I'm not too fussed! Just thought I'd mention it so anyone else with the same issue doesn't feel alone ?
I am having the same problem, Z5 gold rev2, got the phone on 5th february, wich is now 11 days old, power button gets stuck sometimes, thanks God I have double tap to wake, wich makes things less painful, but I am afraid that this could get worse by the time. Otherwise this phone is such a beatuy! works very well, but this with power button ruins good experience that I have with this device.

I am the OP.
My phone has not become worse. Everything the same, and is working all ok.
From my experience, pushing down on the button AND sliding the power button down towards the bottom of the phone at the same time makes it get stuck in that position. So as long as you avoid the sliding down bit, I never encountered a repeat of the problem.
If it does happen, and I have yet to hear of a power button on z5 that got permanently stuck, all you do is slide it up while depressing the power button.
Everything is still water resisting and perfect.
To add, I've been using it naked, and it is surprisingly scratch-free!
Whenever I turn on or off the screen, there's a faint click noise, almost like electrical bridging. Can anyone confirm if this is normal?
Could this be actually an intended sound effect, like the one that is default for clicking when you reset the device?

I don't think so; it's very very quiet and seems to be linked with the backlight being switched on/off, rather than simply the phone being unlocked or locked
It might be camera lens. My S10 does it when turn off and on.
Sent from my SM-G970U1 using Tapatalk
The sound is because the camera motor is making one small step to check if the camera is in the right position.

I have this same issue, a faint click sound on the top of my phone whenever I turn on or turn off my screen via the power button / tapping the screen. Pretty sure it's coming from the motor, not sure if this is normal among users though. And I just got my phone two days ago.
EDIT: Nevermind, I just checked the link in the above post. The Asus rep gave an answer, that helped relieve my concern.
Thank you for the information. Was very confused about what the sound was!
