want advice on a case for 10.5 - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

I am looking for a case For my new 10.5 but don't like that the oem book cover doesn't protect all the sides so I am on the hunt for a better case for me. I live in Canada and so far one I like is the speck style folio case. http://www.speckproducts.com/tablet...efolio-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-s-8-4-10-5.html
does anyone own one and can give me a like dislike? Any other options?

I ask myself the same question, actually the original cover, do not give me the feeling of being very protective, I'll going to get one a more solid and comfortable at the same time

The Samsung Bookcover is awesome.

anyone use the moko or poetic ones?
those prices are much more reasonable... $15

Hi -- I use the Moko ultra-slim lightweight smart-shell.
It's not bad. Covers the sides about 75%, has a good, rigid feel, protects the screen.
The only weird thing is that it faces "into" the fold -- i.e. the home button faces the middle, so it constantly feels backward to me. It also doesn't stand in the "high position" very well -- the magnet is too weak and with any jostling or vibration like on a train or plane, it will collapse.

I read those thoughts about the moko as well, I will probably get the poetic in that case... seems like it is able to stand up with no problems. That feature is key for me.

yeah, i'm already thinking of getting the otterbox or maybe even the logitech s keyboard one next.
this case is good for holding up over your head in bed, but that's about it.

I have this moko - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...kCode=as2&tag=dcre-20&linkId=ELENJLCPWXEV3VJ5
I love it! Protects the tablet, I can stand it up, has sleep mode and great quality. Doesn't add much bulk either and protects the tablet all around.

OEM/Verizon Kickstand Case! (With matching pouch suggestion)

No separate thread on this case so I figured i'd make one, as IMHO it's the best out there for our device, and also the best solution to the slippery battery door issue. Here's my mini review:
The Kickstand case, I got from eBay, for $11 shipped w/ tax (just search for "fascinate kickstand"), which is half off the in store price you'll find. The case has a slight rubberized / soft touch finish, and has a grip pattern in it, which makes it much easier to hold onto. It's quite thin, except for a bump caused by the kickstand, which is leveled so the phone lays flat, by some "feet" on the back. That slight bump I actually like, because I can easily tell which way the phone is oriented in my hand without looking at it. It provides nice protection to the sides and corners and back, so I think it will provide added drop protection. It fits very tight, I wouldn't expect it to come off ever. What I really like, is that it barely protrudes above the front of the phone at all, it adds a very slight lip at the sides, and that's it. This keeps the phone quite flat/thin still and doesn't change how you'd interact with the screen at all. The slight lip should help protect the screen too. All the cutouts are excellent in positioning, and provide nice "cover" for the side buttons against accidental actuation.
Probably the nicest thing of all which I didn't expect, is that the Kickstand works in both Portrait with the phone vertical, and horizontal in landscape, due to the way they positioned the kickstand on the back. It works great - this takes care of one of the things I missed from my Touch Pro2 (the tilting screen). It also has a tensioner, which allows you to tweak the angle in horizontal/landscape a bit because it's "stiff". For the $11 I paid for it, it's worth every penny and seems quite solid/well engineered for the price.
Only downside I see is that it's a bit tougher to take the battery out of course.
Highly recommended!
Also, I missed the idea of using this with a holster, but found a decent universal horizontal belt pouch case that fits nice with even this kickstand case on. This auction is just one seller, there are many instances of this exact same case on ebay listed under multiple names:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270648647873
Just look for "carbon droid x pouch" or "carbon galaxy pouch" etc etc, to find one. The brand name is "Luxmo" on the package, the model is "LPHTCHD2CF1HBK". It says it's a "Leather Pouch for Google Nexus 1 / HTC HD2".
They're all the same case/pouch. What I like about this is you can use it with the belt hook for easy removal, OR use the belt loops for a more permanent one - it has magnetic closure, fits the kickstand case well, sits nicely on my belt, has good cushioning. It's easy to remove the phone using the hole in the bottom, just push up on it and the phone pops out. I also like the "carbon fiber look" it has, looks just like my holster belt I wear this on. There are plain leather versions just like this as well, that I'm sure are made the same way / fit the same.
I use this case as well. Being an employee ive tried every case we sell and this is by far the best looking one and adds very minimal bulk to the phone. I love it!

I also have this case and it is by far the best one I've tried on. The kickstand is really nice.
The OEM kickstand case seems to have a bad design IMO. The reason I say this is when you watch a movie the volume rocker is at the bottom and not easily accessible. Watching video is the point of the kickstand so why hide the volume controls at the bottom? This was the first thing I noticed when I saw the case at Verizon.

Um, that's more a fault of the design of the phone itself. I sorta agree, except Samsung shoulda put the volume should on the right side of the phone, and the power at the top. The normal rotation for landscape is counter clockwise, so the speaker is at the left, and the soft buttons on the right. This is because most are right handed so they're likely to want to use the soft buttons with their right thumb.
So it's no fault of the case that when the phone is rotated normally, the volume rocker is at the bottom. Not like that's a big deal ... just pick it up and change the volume lol.
Also this kickstand works when the phone is vertical/portrait, so it's one of the best kickstand designs I've seen for any phone, as many phone's built in kickstands or kickstand cases, only work in landscape/horizontal.
I third the rec for this case. Its much better than the hard silicone version I tried first, and it allows me to use the phone as a much more useful media screen when on my nighstand or plugged in on my desk at work.
Just ordered the Verizon one yesterday (thank you, 35% accessory discount) and should have it tomorrow or Wednesday. By the looks of it, I'm going to like it.
link to the actual case?
I've had this case since day 1, yeah it sucks about the volume being covered in horizontal but it's an awesome case, and I don't want to change it at all (I've changed cases roughly every month with my other phones)

Just search eBay as I mentioned for "fascinate kickstand" - there is only one case like this, you'll find it right away, sellers are selling it new for $11 shipped.
Got my case yesterday. Love it.
I really like it too, been through 3 or 4 others, this is the best.
I can vouch for the kickstand case too. Without the case, my phone felt flimsy and I was afraid I'll drop it any moment. Now it feels much more solid and comfortable.
On an aside note, do NOT get the screen protectors from Verizon. They suck.
I have the kick stand case too and i love it. i use the kick stand all the time.
nice
got this case based on your guys' recommendations and it's pretty sweet. It's not that grippy silicone that sticks in your pocket. It's got like a nice matte finish and feels pretty solid. Also, the edges don't rise up too high like other cases do so it doesn't get in the way when you're using the touchscreen.
Yeah. VZW(or whoever they get it from) really got this one right. Not to big, but it does add some substance. Good grip, but not sticky. Protects the phone, but doesn't hide the lines.
A+

I notice that it has pretty substantial cut outs at the top of the phone, any idea if this case is car or desk dock friendly by chance?
I picked one of these up based on this thread and I am happy I did. Very nice fit. Feels good and grippy in the hand - kickstand is a bonus. Great on my desk and nightstand.
Wouldn't change a thing.

I'm asking for this for the holidays. I've heard nothing but great things about it. I currently have the OEM silicone case, and it's nothing special.

Trident Aegis for Droid Charge review

Out of the four cases I have tried for the Charge I think I finally found my favorite. The Trident Aegis has some problems as did all the cases I tried but it is the best. It comes in 5 colors and they look great. I got the blue one and it looks as good in person as it does on the site.
The materials used are very nice and the surface has a great anti-skid finish that provides great in hand grip. The hard plastic outer shell covers all 4 sides of the phone for a tight fit. It is thicker then the Otterbox Commuter at the phones curve at the bottom but I actually like that. It gives the phone a great feel when using it in landscape mode. Even though it is a bit bulky it does fit in pockets easily. The corners of the case are heavily padded for drop protection.
All of the ports are covered to prevent dust, moisture or any other unwanted substance getting into them. I found that the usb port was hard to open at times (I have no finger nails) and that the hdmi cover opens a little to easily. The power button and volume rocker are covered as well and easily accessible. One of the things I really like is the dust filter on the speaker opening. The speaker is loud and clear and will not be getting dust in it. The lip that goes around the screen is not as big as the Otterbox but provides just as good of protection.
The protection this case offers is great. Its not as heavy duty as the Otterbox Defender or the Trident Kracken II but it is good enough for every day use. It comes with a screen protector that I did not use. I would recommend this case without a doubt. While its not perfect its does correct the things that I did not like about the Otterbox Commuter and provides just as good of protection. If I can get access to a camera at some point I will post some pictures to go along with the review.
Thanks for all of the info. both here and via PM.
I want to hold out for the Kraken 2, but my Otterbox is driving me nuts so I might just grab an Aegis.

The top and the bottom edges of the Otterbox are not covered by the hard plastic so it is kind of loose. The buttons are also covered which I don't like and the hard plastic is kind of slippery.

I don't like how the top of the silicon portion isn't supported by the hard case, so it easily separates from the phone if you lift the phone by that area.
I also find that, while it's nice to slip in and out of your pocket, the hard case is too slippery for my tastes. It slides off of sloped surfaces and I've almost dropped the phone a few times now.
Personally, I like having the hard buttons covered, but the silicon that covers the buttons doesn't seem to fit tight against the screen, so debris can work its way underneath.
I never use the HDMI port, so not having it protected by silicon makes no sense to me.
Don't let my dislikes make it seem like it's a bad case, it's not, but I think the Aegis will fit me better. The Aegis should arrive tomorrow, so we shall see.
I'm thinking of making a short video to show the differences between the cases. I'll let you know when it's up.
Moondrius and Romemo,
Have either of you had the Incipio case before your trident case? I'm wondering how they compare. I'm surprised to see the trident case so slim since I always incorporate trident cases to be monsters.
I had the Incipio double cover and the Feather and both were sent back. The double cover was alright until I noticed it covered the hdmi port. It did seem thin and less bulky. The Aegis is the most bulky of the 3 but in a good way I would say. Its slightly thicker at the bottom. I would say I liked the Double Cover more then the Otterbox but I used it for like 5 minutes. The Feather was complete garbage. Its a shame because I really liked the Feather when I had my Atrix.
Thanks. I have the Incipio double cover. I really like it since I never use hdmi, not sure I can handle anything that would be bulkier.

For the Incipio case? It's here:
http://www.myincipio.com/Samsung-Dr...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
Does verizon sell the Incipio case for the Charge? If so, how much do they ask for it? I really like the looks of the Incipio case and I am just trying to figure out if a covered HDMI port is worth it. I get 25% off accessories at Verizon so if the price is reasonable I wouldn't mind picking one up to try it out.
So I get my Charge on Monday. I have the cyclops series trident case for the fassy. It felt good. Overall I liked it. So I purchased the aegis. I bought it from the same ebay seller I got the fassy from: cyclopscase.
A good price too 23.33 with free shipping.

Yikes... Yeah, that's a definite weak spot. I was thinking that, if I go back to my Aegis, I would just remove that cover.
Is it easy to take in and out of the case? I bought the media dock and the car dock, which leaves no room for a case. So I've been using the zagg shield that covers the entire phone. Problem is with the car dock, the sides have been tearing off due to putting the phone in and out of the dock. It's pretty useless, so I want a real case, but I don't want to buy a new car or media dock for it.
Does the Aegis come off and on pretty easily?

IMHO no. The hard outer shell is designed to be a reeeeally tight fit around the soft inside cover. As a current owner I wouldn't want to constantly take it off and put it back on for a car dock. Plus I think it would eventually wear on the buttons and dust covers.

Leather Backplate or Case

I'm looking for a leather backplate replacement for my Galaxy S4. Really dislike the grimy feel and fingerprints of the stock plate, so I'm thinking a nice leather feel would be great. Don't want any kind of metal or aluminum to possibly interfere with signals. Also prefer it to be quality not cheap PU leather.
Also a leather back cover case may work as long as its not too bulky. I like the Spigen Argos case but don't want any flip front cover.
I've spent a few hours searching this forum, any recommendations?

Has it come in the mail yet? How does it look/fit? Thanks!
Been using this new Bear Motion leather case for several days now, and so far I'm very happy with it. Upon first glance and feel its pretty flimsy and cheap, and that's because its so thin. But after you put it on it looks and feels fantastic. I wanted a thin leather case that look and feels nice and this is just that. It claims to be buffalo leather and I suppose it really is. Looks like real leather, feels like real leather and even smells like real leather. Someone else's review on it was that the edges or the lip would start the fade or shred. I can see that possible happening as that seems to be the weak point. Hopefully it doesn't happen for me since I always have my phone in my right front pocket by itself.

Thanks for the review! How is the fit, is it really snug? If you have had any other cases could you compare the fit on them to this case? Lastly, what color is your S4 and what color case did you get?

The fit is really snug, it locks in tight and you don't feel any movement once it snaps in. Its not really a case that you can depend on if you drop your phone a lot, the protection is very minimal.
Doesn't cover the entire corner, and I imagine the phone would still get damaged if it were to drop straight onto the top or bottom of the phone. But its still better than nothing, and the grip is good and I just don't drop my phone period. I only got the case because I needed something, anything to cover up the cheap awful plastic backplate, and this case just makes the phone feel really good in the hand.
The only other case I have for the S4 is the S View cover, more of a stylish case and I just got annoyed with having to open up the cover all the time, which is why I didn't want to get the spigen leather flip cases.
My S4 is the black mist so I got the matching black colored leather, simple and classy. I don't want the leather to get dirty or stained in the brown or the red, and well I just prefer all black phones anyways.

Best case with a stand?

Hey,
Whats the best recommendation for a nice feeling case that also has a stand? Ive seen Spigen tough armour but it looks a bit blocky
Samsung rugged cover. Many people are opting for the rugged cover over their usual favorites. @ $40 it is pricey but worth it.
Reminds me of a deck chair though. I adored it on note 8 then they did all them weird lines on the back
Those lines really aren't as bad in person as they seem in photos. They actually make the case quite easy to grip in hand.

They're subtle in hand. Look aggressive in pics.
Samsung's rugged case is my absolute favorite! To me, it even helps with one-handed reachability! Highly recommended!
I like this one from Samsung:

I personally use spigen tough armour. May look blocky but good protection and build in kick stand help to overcome that problem. Let's just hope they will release slim armour soon like for last few years...
I returned the Spigen Tough Armor, and kept the Samsung.
The stand on the Spigen has the volume buttons on the bottom, so you can't change the volume when using the stand with them.
The Samsung can be placed either way, and even in portrait mode.
OEM case hands down, best they released so far.

Umm, tough armor can be placed either way too. Don't know how you came to the conclusion it can't. I was kind of skeptical of the OEM Samsung case being in the middle but OLED reflectivity made that a non issue. I used my V20 in my tough armor case mostly and the offset stand came in handy depending on chair and if I slouched or not. Being offset made it user adjustable basically.
It can but I don't see why most people would want such a shallow angle. I've owned Slim Armor cases for at least half a dozen of my phones and I've never once used the stand like that.

It's all relative. I bought 9 cases for my Note 9 totaling well over 150 dollars in the past year trying to find the right one. I'd rather spend 40 on one case and never have to worry about it again. It's not cheap, but I've not seen one better in stores.

The tough armor packs the kickstand on the bottom right side of the phone while looking at it. If you were to try to use the kickstand with the volume buttons facing up the phone is laying nearly flat lol.

Yes. Good position if you're sitting at a desk and looking down as if you were reading.
I ordered this as it was really cheap, just 8.99. It's called the Orzero TPU + PC Hybrid Dual Layer Case, and I love it! The ring in back rotates so if can prop up the phone in both directions although landscape is pretty shallow. It doubles as a device to allow for one-handed operation by sticking a finger through the ring, freeing up the thumb to wander anywhere without worrying about dropping your phone. Downside: made of metal, can't use wireless charger with it on. I use it when I leave home and am not going to charge wirelessly anyways. I bought another case with no stand for when I'm at home.
Edit: Photo won't upload! ?

ArmadilloTek Vanguard Series Case

I just got my Galaxy S10 (work phone) and work did not provide me with a case for it. So I set out to find a case, however, since it's not my phone I wanted to make sure it wouldn't end up cracked, but I didn't want to spend $40+ for an Otterbox. I saw this case on Amazon when I searched for Galaxy S10 case, and figured I'd give it a try. Disclaimer: I was chosen by ArmailloTek to test out their case at their expense, but this is a %100 honest review, so please read it if you're interested in this case - also this was the first time I've been chose for something like that, so I was pretty excited! :victory: Here's the link to the case on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MLZY39Y/
The case arrived at my house earlier today, and I can honestly say, after installing it, it is a really solid case! It's a bit bulky, so don't expect your nice, shiny, sleek new Galaxy S10 to still be thin and sleek with this case on it, BUT, it is well protected! I personally just use a Wellci Clear Love Series Ultra (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CB9VQK7) for my OnePlus 6, personal phone, as I prefer my phones to stay thin and sleek, however, it does not offer any kind of protection on par with this ArmadilloTek case on my S10. The packaging is very similar to that of OtterBox, in clear plastic with military personnel on the front, and though it says "Military Grade Case" I don't stand by that claim for ANY case, as it's still a fragile piece of glass, aluminum and PCB's, it can't withstand a bullet .
The case goes on with a plastic bumper all the way around, then the rubber/plastic side and backing slips over that. I will say that it is very difficult to remove once the case is on, but then again, if you need a case this tough, you're probably not removing it often. It doesn't get in the way of the curved edges of the phone, though I don't use the edge features of the S10 anyway, they're just gimmicky to me. The case has a kickstand on the back, which is great for standing the phone up vertically or horizontally to watch YouTube and other content. The only downside to it is that it is a little tough to lift out of the back of the case without nails, as it does click down into place when stored away - which I love, so that it doesn't just fall out and end up breaking.
The volume/bixby/power buttons are very easy to press with tactile feedback through the case, and it doesn't interfere with the stock screen protector on my phone at all! Doesn't rub on it and make it lift or anything like that. By far my favorite features of this case are when you lay it on it's back, there are rubber feet (in the shape of fake hex head bolts) so the plastic back isn't rubbing on the hard surface getting scratched up; and if you lay it screen down, there is a pretty big gap between the screen of the phone and the table. See the pictures below as I tried to show the light coming through, as just the top and bottom edges (which are the case) touch the table, not the screen of the phone, and there's a few mm in between the screen and the table - I love that, as I like to put my phone face down sometimes, and now I don't have to worry about scratching that beautiful Samsung display. The case also has nice covers for the 3.5mm and USB-C ports that press in firmly, stay in place, and don't feel like they're going to tear off after being opened/closed repeatedly.
tl;dr
Overall I would rate it a 9.5/10 (the only reason it's not 10/10 is because of the kickstand issue for me, though that's a personal preference thing)
Pros:
Great protection at a great price
Keeps the screen off the table when face down
Rubber feet on back for face up placement on table
Useful kickstand for content consumption
Secure and precise fitment
Covers over the 3.5mm and USB-C ports
Tactile, easy to press Bixby/Volume/Power buttons
Useful side grips for holding the phone and not slipping
Cons:
Kickstand is tough to open from the back of the case, without nails, which is also a pro as it won't fall out from the back of the case and break unexpectedly
It is designed in Texas and the company claims to be all Texan, though the poor English in all documentation doesn't re-enforce that (also the packaging says, "Designed in Texas" "Made in China", just FYI, but then again what isn't nowadays

This is a great case, made in China is a must for all small business.
And you forgot one con, the edge app is a little bit hard to activate with the case.

Everything nowadays is made in China, lol, so no big surprise there. I didn't comment on the edge app as I don't use that feature on my S10, but I'll take your word for it, thank you for adding that
Yeah, I'm cool off armadillllioliolil. Also, hard to not be biased when you're "chosen"

That actually is a pro for some people who do not like the curve and edge display. I am glad the edges are much higher on the sides.
I do like the supcase unicorn beetle kickstand better than the vanguards.

I get that, but honestly they saved me $18. Was it nice of them? absolutely, especially because it's my work phone so I didn't really want to pay for any accessories, and my company didn't provide me with a case or option to be reimbursed for a case. However, at the end of the day it was less than $20, which I'm sure I spend on dumber things throughout the week. So my review was %100 honest.
Also, now that it's been a few days I will say, the case is holding up well, and the edges are tough to use with the case on, but again, I don't use any edge features so I don't mind.

The edges on this case are really high, I had my credit card sitting across the phone earlier and it's neat how much you can see right between the card and case when you look at it from the right angle! It's really nice knowing I can put the phone on the table face down and not have to worry about it.
thank you for the review
I am wondering about the power sharing^^^

I just tried it, I couldn't get my note 5 or galaxy watch to do wireless power share. It does work on my wireless charger though.

Sorry, wish I could test it, but I don't even own any devices that support wireless charging, aside from this Galaxy S10. I wish my OnePlus 6 had it If I can find a friend who has something I can give it a go.

This doesn't make my attempt sound promising when I find someone with a wireless charging device, but I am not surprised at this finding either. The case is pretty thick, so I would imagine there is a lot of space and plastic for the power share to have to go through - which it probably isn't strong enough to do.
great review.
