Hello Everyone,
2 days ago there was a announcement that the one plus one would be available for 1 hour only to buy online. I was so hyped I went straight to the website and got my pre-Order ready and accessories sorted. However I am coming to a point where everything I read about the One plus is a Bug or a issue with it not booting ect. I would describe myself as a geeky teenager, I know my way around phones and computers but I still like to have a phone that will do its job without any/many issues. To any owners of a One plus please help me, Is the one plus one in a place where it is usable and can be used daily for all of my daily tasks (Browsing, Games, Calls, Lots of screen time) Or would you say at this current time there are to many bugs for the phone to be enjoyable?
I would really like to pre order this phone as It still has place in my heart however if there are a people thinking there are to many bugs id rather know and pick an alternative? Maybe a G3 for now.
Thanks all,
David
I have 2oneplus one and I know 4 other frds has oneplus one..not a single problem on any one of them. I also have note3 too. I like my oneplus one a lot more then my note3(its in my closet ever since I got my oneplus).
Sometimes I think people are having problems with the phone its because user error. And you gotta remember 97% of people who has the phone that are satisfy. Won't come online and post on forums telling you abt it. Usually its the people who has problems with there phone would post on forums trying to find a fix.

Exactly... No issues here whatsoever...
no issues (except with the yellowish bottom of the screen).
Sent from OPO.
Nah you right too many bugs if I were you I would not buy one either.... **snickering** gives me a better chance to get another one **evil laugh**
Man listen if you making up a thread for this you have already given up... Best phone I have ever had to date... No issues at all nor my half dozen friends with the phone.. Yellow tint - fix for that :good:
Hey David
If you are geeky and know your way around androids and Cyanogen Mod in particular you will have few if any problems with this phone as most of the errors that come up should be resolvable with flashes. That said unlock and root it upon receiving and get a custom recovery on the phone asap.
Those who do have hardware problems well... you can't blame them and though my own oneplus works great I don't knock the fact other people had problems. They got unlucky and oneplus self admittedly is swamped and hasn't handled the issue in a speedy way. It looks like they are dragging their feet compared to other companies when they are swamped. They should make a public announcement and put a pause on marketing. They haven't done that and I feel they justifiably received a lot of ire from unhappy customers.
In short, if you want to gamble the 1%-2% or greater chance you got a lemon you can try. There was a census on the forum that 7-8% who bought the phone need an rma. (forum census here https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/for-those-who-have-the-one-how-is-the-quality.95588/) I am being really critical and assuming more than half of the people who bought it had a software issue.
So perhaps that guesstimate is not correct but the majority IS happy with their phone.
And a warning that recently there was a spate of people who had random reboots and one plus has not made any announcements on the matter, also requiring people to send in videos of the random reboot.
So if you want to chance you will be out of shipping and handling at worst. At best you'll have a real kick ass phone myself and others really enjoy.
Hope that clarifies

In my family alone there are 4 OnePlus One's:
1.) Me (64GB International CyanogenMod version)
2.) Brother-in-law (64GB International CyanogenMod version)
3. Brother-in-law's brother (16GB Chinese version with CM11s)
4.) My sister (16GB Chinese version with CM11s)
Non of us have any of the serious issues reported such as random rebooting, bootlooping, multi-touch or ghost touch issues. We do have the yellow band at the bottom (all of us) but its barely noticable.
tl:dr : Yes you can very well use it as a reliable daily driver AND should you have any issues thats what XDA is for.
Got my OPO a few weeks ago and have no issues at all. If I did I would of sold it day 1. I still have my N5 running the dev Lollipop, its fast and smooth, i could roll right back to it, but really like the OPO. Buy it, if you don't like it, sell it. Maybe you lose 20$, if you do, but in my book its worth it.
No issues at all on two of these things.

I have had 4 in total, bought my first used and the guy gave me his two invites so I bought them as well. All three had a small amount of yellow at the bottom of the screen but no other problems. The forth one I got used and is has no yellow tint but it did have a small touch problem where I would sometimes have to tap the phone twice to get it to register a tap but after the 38R update it has gone away completely so I have no problems at all with the phone. Best part of it was that I got this one for £160 and it was only a few weeks old.
I thought that the yellow tint on the other phones didn't bother me too much until I got my G3 and seen the difference between them so I sold the last one of the first three I got but after getting this one I can see that the yellow tint really did bother me because even though I can see a difference between the screen on the this one and the G3 is not that great and I have been using it most of the time over my G3

Hi,
So.. Reading all these posts about this phone Im already contemplating returning it even though it hasnt arrived yet.
The main reason is the LCD bleeding mentioned by everyone. All the other battery inconsistencies, reboots, shutting down, wifi, whatever are all software and will be updated and fixed after all this is a new phone and as early adopters its part of the risk. BUT..... The LCD is a hardware issue, they purchased defective LCD screens and now they are going to have to sell all the units already manufactured before they make a batch with better LCDs.
Therefore, If I put so much money down on a phone, I dont mind the software bugs which can be fixed, I do mind hardware problems.
That being said I havent even received my phone yet but it does seem like returning it and waiting for the sensation would be a safer bet dont u think?

if your into rooting and customizing the sensation might have a locked bootloader. also your phone might not have those issues. you could be sending back a perfect or close to perfect device. this is the first batch so you have to expect the worst. you can always return if you have issues.
This is going to be my first android phone so what is rooting and locked bootloader?

oh okay. rooting is like jailbreaking a iphone. it opens your phone up to bigger and better things. a bootloader is basically security. without being able to unlock that you wont be able to use custom roms, and tweaks to make the phone better than what it is.

I would love to know that too since i returned mine a couple days ago and am waiting to get another one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062748 This poster said they received their phone and it was manufactured 4/29/11 and have not had a single bad issue thus far and everything is working better than before. Mine have been manufactured in early April, so perhaps this is an indication of a fixed batch of sorts.
See my thread of love thread. Manufacturer date of 4/6.

IMO this phone rocks... As suggested by @ScooterG check out his thread about "thread of love". And another thing sometimes internet and blogs hipe things. Most of the ppl use their phones for 2-3 yrs and they see no problems in it. I know some ppl who still do not know what is FLASH and why some websites do not work with iPhone?? But only advice i would give you is, don ever trust everything you read. Try it yourself... Once you get the phone check things out like battery, reboot issue, freezing issue, lcd bleeding. If you think that ur phone is not good enough, return it.
One more thing i wanna tell you is, about LCD bleeding i agree that some ppl have really bad issues, but as far as the regular use is concerned minor lcd bleeding is unnoticeable. PPL check lcd bleeding by going in the dark room and opening black wallpapers or some app on their phones, now tell me one thing are you ever going to keep looking at black screen on your phone??? NO. You are going to watch videos, play games and do regular stuff. So use your phone like you are going to use for daily use and see if you encounter any problems.
About the Sensation and Galaxy s II, I loved both the phones, but then I realised that I want to root my phones and install custom ROMs on it. I don't think any of these 2 phones will be as easy to root and install custom ROMs on them as G2X. On top of that updates come fast for stock android phones for sure...
This is all my point of view. Read and think. Decide on your own.
I read all the good, bad, and ugly here before buying my G2x (replaced my beloved Nokia N900). Oddly, I had just the opposite reaction than you did. All the chatter here gave me a huge amount of confidence that whatever I didn't like about the G2x -- I could change with a little root magic and some apps.
And so I did. I'm very pleased.
I was a religious crackberry user(used iphone 1st gen and 3g too), then switched to a hd2(first unofficial android phone running gingerbread), then g2 now with the g2x. Be honest with you, the lcd bleeding is not noticable. I'm very happy with it so far.
The LCD bleeding is pretty minor. You really have to be in a completely black room with the screen showing black to notice it.
There are some extreme cases but I think they are rare, even for here.
I suspect the battery issues are a result of what people are installing or doing on their phone. From what I've read, "I've exchanged it 5 times and they all have battery issues"... tells me they are installing an app that eats battery or they are leaving games running in the background or something.
We do know the battery driver is wonky but the developers are working on a fix.
My phone lasts from 8am-midnight on my normal usage which consists of:
Several phones calls, frequently texting, playing WordFeud and Kingdoms Live (both online games) several times throughout the day, Push Exchange email (I get like 80-100 emails a day), I usually look up my horoscope once a day, I also have Push Gmail emails going, and Twitter, Facebook, and a weather widget that updates every 15minutes.
I also use google maps + gps, Google Voice Search, etc. periodically throughout the day also.
That's a ****load of usage ^ I would love to know how your getting that. I'm texting and idling my phone and I don't even get my phone to have that much usage

Think you can get a Galaxy Note3, LG G2, Nexus 5 or other 800/801 spec phone for 350 (US) dollars?
I got the Nexus 5 and the OPO is way better(faster, better camera, quality materials, great design)
It's still worth it now and will still be worth it in the next 6-9 months and beyond.
But be realistic: it might have a band to some degree or it might not. You might have to use the supposedly poor after-sales service or you might never need to.
I have a very slight yellow band at certain angles. Being in China, it would be much easier and cheaper to send it back than those overseas but I will not. It doesn't bother me.
Overall: it's a big phone. It's a high-spec phone. It's a (comparatively) low-cost phone.

OPO blows the Nexus 5 out of the water. But who knows what the Nexus 6 will bring. I suspect that, if you are a diehard Nexus/pure aosp fan, the Nexus 6 would be a better choice (if you can live with subpar battery life). But if you like CM, the OPO is the best phone available. I'd say get it, and if you don't like it, sell it and get something else. You won't have any problem selling it for what you paid, and you might actually make some profit.
Way worth it. Typing this message on it
Don't know, just got mine and the volume buttons do not work at all. Now gotta wait another few weeks I guess and hope they answer my replacement request. Really bummed. Seems like a nice phone, but I cannot even boot into recovery with the thing to check stuff out.

Honestly, its worth it for $350. But I might sell it and get he Nexus 6 depending what is the specs and price. CyanogenMod is always buggy. By the time its stable, then there is already next version of Android. I would pay $100 more for 64 GB Nexus 6
People keep complaining about the small issues here and there, but the updates keep rolling in every week or two, so I can't complain!
People say other phones are better built or designed nicer, or will just plain be faster, being released in the next few months, and they may be right too.
The point is this, to me anyway: If you want something for a great value with good build quality, and are willing to deal with a couple kinks as they continue to be worked out, then this is your phone.
If you want 100% cutting edge latest phone with 99% bug free, then wait and pay $800 for the next phone that comes out from someone else. But don't buy this expecting perfection, and then be pissy and complain about it like 25% of the people on here do
Just my opinion

This guys opinion is pretty damn spot on I might add. Also asking in a forum is this worth it is really not a great thing to do. You cant get a definitive answer in a place like this. Also if you are on the fence then leave it alone and pass on your invite to others. Some will love some will hate it but its an electronic device which can be sold easily. No real risk factor at all.
Do what you like and feel comfortable with. I personally have little yellow banding which is not a big deal and everything else works as it should...
Worth it. My Notes 1/2/3 and Nexus 5 are all collecting dust now. The OPO is a superb phone.
It's absolutely worth it. Especially for that price.

Be aware that it does have several hardware issues including the yellow stain/tint/hue in the bottom of the screen. Here are some reviews. If you think you can live with those issues the go ahead:

Not all devices are affected by the yellow banding. And what are the other issues you're talking about? Not a single problem with mine or my fiance's.

Agree, but if the one you get is affected Oneplus will not replace it. They will only give you a refund if the RMA is within 14 days and you have to pay return shipping.
There are quite a few of other issues like ghost touch detection, multi touch issues due to bad grounding, battery draining too fast, random WiFi connection drops, etc. Take a trip around their technical support forum.
Some of these do not affect all devices and some are supposedly going to be fixed by software ipdates . But still buying this phone right now is like playing lottery and it turns out you lose with a bad device then good luck with their customer support.
Again, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it, I'm just saying do your research before buying and know what you are getting into and what to expect.
Oneplus had a real winner in their hands but the way they have been handling things look very shady.
Here are some links:
This guy just gave up because Oneplus never had the decency to reply back to him. To my knowledge all phones have this issue including mine which really doesn't bother me but it those how the company handled the problem.

WiFi issues, I myself don't have that issue but I have seen several post popping up about wifi disconnects:

I posted already links about the yellow band but here is another one explaining why it is not glue and in fact a hardware issue as state Oneplus:

Honestly, a lot of the 'issues' I've seen talked about are just people not knowing how to use their device, or something that is out of the control of OnePlus (Google Play Services battery drain problem).
Where are you getting this information about OnePlus not replacing devices? It simply isn't true. I've seen multiple people report that upon opening a ticket for a valid fault they've been given the option of a replacement or a refund.
Don't get me wrong, I've also seen people complain about pretty crap customer support from the company, but that isn't the only kind of experience that people are having. Talking in absolutes like that is just wrong, and isn't really very smart.

Hi guys, so my friend needs a new phone but he also has a Dell chrome book which he carries around all the time. The problem is that he is very rational. He definitely wants a smartphone and loves stock Android... So he was going to buy a moto g 4g. After telling my friend about the miracle phone from one plus he really started doubting the moto but now he still wants to buy the moto because he has a got a chrome book and the one plus adds nothing to him over the moto g especially because it is so hard to get an invite and the first preorder ducked and it is 100 euro more... Can someone help me convince him to buy a one plus... Or is he right about his moto g being the smarter buy? Thanks!! Ps you got an invite you don't need, he is your guy

The OnePlus One a miacle phone ? Are you serious ?
The only miracle here is people still buying this phone with all the known problems it has.
this late in the game I would suspect that there are much better buys than the one plus one and the moto g for that matter.

I got my phone in october and it has a big yellow band at the bottom of the sreen. It cant be fix.
I also have various touchscreen problems, random reboots, app crash, custom settings that disappear, same for some widgets, terrible signal reception. Some people have a lot of problem with LTE (I dont). Some people have problem with battery draining (I dont).
They have a terrible customer service, Im still waiting for an RMA (2 weeks ), some people waited 6 weeks for an RMA.
This phone is ONE big mistake.

Not really. My rma'd phone still has a very slight yellow band and touch issues, although its much better now (on acceptable grade), is still far from perfect. My old s3 is far better regarding touch sensitivity.
Its still a beast of a phone in everything else - battery for 2 days and 3gb ram are a whole new level for me.

I said s4, of course the s5 is a lot more expensive, are you going to ditch the one plus? Or give it a last try?
I guess I am lucky to get a one plus one with no known issues. I only have access to lte band 4 but I did use the Qualcomm tools to enable the other bands and should be getting access to band 2 soon. I have no yellow colors and touch screen works great. I think most users that do not have issues are not posting in XDA or one plus forums. Only real issue I have is how slow it charges.
Other options might be a zte phone or Dell or other higher end China brands
I came form a N5 and my OPO build date is Oct. No issues what so ever. Love the phone, I still have my N5 to play with the dev version of L. The N5 runs fantastic with L, but I've not used it since I got my OPO. If you can afford the N6, I would certainly get it, but if you don't want to be under the thumb of the carriers, I don't think you can do much better for near the price/features of the One. Also, I got my N5 when it first came out and you would of thought it was the worst made phone in the history of phones. I remember the same thing with the IP5, antenna gate! Most of the people who complain, are very vocal. Most of the people who don't have an issue don't really post. Any of the Samsung have so much bloat on them and its such a pita to get the same functionality you get out of the box with the One.
Yeah certainly true, thanks man! But still they only sold half a million and I keep seeing these complaints pop up since the launch of the OPO in July, maybe part of it is true... And how is your battery life, is it consistent? I a almost planning on selling my LG g2 to my friend and buying the one plus myself if I can get an invite
With so many people having issues, I wonder why I don't have any issues, NEVER had a random reboot. No touch issues whatsoever with any ROM/KERNEL.
I have a very slight yellow band, but its not really noticable compared some of the pictures that I've seen
Hands down the best phone I've ever used

The OnePlus One a miacle phone ? Are you serious ?
The only miracle here is people still buying this phone with all the known problems it has.

You mean those problems that only affect a small percentage of the total units sold? The problems that have been blown way out of proportion? It's ridiculous to say the things you're saying about this phone just because you're having a bad experience. You're the minority.

That's because the overwhelming majority of these phones are perfect, just like any other smartphone, the problems only affect a small number of the overall devices sold.

Yeah certainly true, thanks man! But still they only sold half a million and I keep seeing these complaints pop up since the launch of the OPO in July, maybe part of it is true... The battery life is fantastic. The phone is fantastic. Don't listen to the whiners, they make it sound so much worse than it actually is. Every single smartphone on the market encounters bugs and the like. The fact is the people who have problems always stomp their feet and carry on like children, while the majority of the owners who have zero issues just enjoy their device. You don't see people creating threads just to say that their phone is working the way it should, and that's why the overly vocal complainers give the false impression that this phone is a lemon.

Got proof? Didn't think so.

I once did a poll, only about 5 percent of people couldn't use the phone at all, another 30 percent had small bugs but that's CM
I was waiting and hoping for something intresting to come out at MWC but nothing...
Im on the 50/50 boat on getting the OnePlus One
On one side, great hardware, good price, there is a decent amount of development on XDA, etc.
But just their forums are HORRIBLE (its like going back to kindergarden) but more important than that I still hear horrible stories about their customer support (or lack of). I thought it was getting better but I read somone had to wait 17 days from when they started a issue to get their phone repaired. He wasted 2-3 days convincing OnePlus that his hardware had a problem!
Also there is the issue of the "OnePlus Two" coming out. Obviously, even if it is more expensive, If I knew the OnePlus Two was coming shortly, I would wait it out and get that phone instead of this one. You can expect at least a tease from Sony/Samsung/Microsoft/HTC/etc. with their next phone but no idea from OnePlus.
I wanted to know good/bad/misc stories about the company and the product.
I have till Tuesday to decide which is when they sell their phone again.
If I didn't have 1+1 already, I'd buy it right now. One plus two is rumored to come out in Q2/Q3 of 2015 with oxygen os preinstalled (most likely). If one plus manages to resolve this new OS bugs and if the phone is phenomenal, then I'd sell 1+1 and go for one plus two.
The oneplus forum is a mess, but I feel like all the development is mostly happening on XDA/google+ community groups and most people repost these developments to the one plus forum.
The big headache is if you shatter/drop the phone screen or water damage etc. Their customer service is terrible and it will take a long long time before you get a response from them. Same thing goes for a defective unit and if you try to RMA it.
I received my 1+1 last year in November and am very happy with it. I don't have any of the above mentioned issues and have been running CM12 nightlies since the past two months with great battery life.
There's a review thread here, have a read:

Stay away from the OnePlus forums, you're right, it's like kindergarten, it's a circus of stupidity. My experience with this phone has been overwhelmingly positive, I have two (one for my partner). You'll see people complaining about things going wrong but most of the time it's their own fault because they did something to the phone without actually knowing what they were doing.
The phone is great. The hardware is fantastic, it's a real beast. The CM software is much freer than any other OEM software but it's not without the occasional bug. That shouldn't really matter too much though because this dev community is really active and we have some great ROMs available.
The OnePlus Two might be coming out, or it might not be. One thing is for sure though, it won't be anywhere near as cheap as the One.

For the price it is still the best thing you can get. CM12 right away and you will be fine.
I was tempted but got the Huawei p20 pro last month. Love oneplus phones. I wish they work place a 4000 mAh battery in thier phones
I got silk white. That rose gold trim is just unbeatable to me!
I have a midnight black, but couldn't resist the red, so I bought one today.
Just ordered one today. Haven't used anytime but Google made phones since the Nexus4. What should I expect?

About the same speed as Pixels. Not as good support as Pixels, but who has better? Some nice extra features that Pixels don't have, but Pixel exclusive features would be missing. Camera is not as good, but pretty good - at least better than Pixel XL in low light imo. Hopefully some bug fixes that buggy Pixels still don't have - like the 2 Bluetooth device bug that Google hasn't fixed in years, but was fixed in at least 5.1.5 OOS, but was reintroduced in 5.1.6+. Pretty good screen but weak loudspeaker. The notch is surprisingly good - used to hate the idea of notch until I started using it, it's like free extra space that would otherwise be wasted.
Just don't order from Asia and only order directly from Oneplus. There seem to be serious quality control issues with hardware shipped to that part of the world - OP forums are littered with people complaining about hardware defects, and almost all of them have Asian usernames. Very few complaints from westerners.
I'm waiting it to be available on Amazon, but I'm really tempted to buy the midnight black and throw my G6 away...

Here you are
Yep, ordered the red yesterday, should arrive tomorrow, hope i get a flawless phone
I've been using sony devices for some years but i have ordered oneplus devices before for some of my friends and always liked them, great phones for their price point.
I will miss the sony community here in xda more than i'll miss not having a sony device anyway... but i'm sure the oneplus 6 will have lots of development and mods too, that's one of the main reasons i ordered the 6, i'll never buy a phone without an unlockable bootloader and community support, it seems like oneplus did a great job on that aspect giving phones to several recognized developers here on xda :good:
I'v ordered it for my wife.
I did. Should be here tomorrow. I'll check in when it does and let y'all know....btw this is my first post on xda but I have been following and reading xda forums since way back when I had a Motorola atrix4g and all thru my Samsung stages, missed being able to unlock bootloader and root and rom and whatnot so much so here I am. Lol my bad for thread jacking

Just received my RED OP6 today and it is AMAZING!
Got it today too, AWESOME phone and color. Don't like the notch that much but since i can hide it it's not a problem at all.
Phone seems flawless so far, screen seems perfect, camera and speakers too, battery life is still to soon to tell.
Already unlocked, rooted, and flashed franco kernel
Will have lots of fun flashing roms and mods for sure

Nice.
What OS version did you get? If it's 5.1.5 like mine, don't update it. Wait for 5.1.10. There were a few bugs introduced with 5.1.6+.
@nabbed Thanks for the tip, but i got mine with 5.1.8 already installed. Date on the box is 25/06/2018.
Didn't notice any bug so far, do you know what bugs are identified in 5.1.8?

There are a few. I have one that is a pain in my ass - when you connect two Bluetooth phone devices, the second one connects as "Connected (no phone)" - cannot make calls.
So, if you have a smartwatch that can make and receive calls, and you get inside your car that also has BT, the car unit will not work. Solution - disable "phone" function on the watch.
Sucks, since you can use both devices simultaneously in 5.1.5, with Samsung phones, and, I suppose, in theory.
Ordered my Red OP6 and it'll arrive tomorrow but I won't be home from a work trip for another week and a half!
I previously had a HTC Vivid and then Galaxy S4; both from AT&T but I was able to root both phones. I then went to this piece of &*!t locked LG G4. SO MANY HARDWARE ISSUES! That's the last time I buy a phone from a cell provider.
Can't wait to get my hands on this SEXY red phone and get root back!

I can't agree with that reasoning. One of the main reason you are seeing more Asians than westerners in OP forum is because OP sells a lot more devices in Asia than in the west, atleast AFAIK. Also I regularly glance through a few of those posts daily and lot of those seem to be about accidental damages or repetitive posts about known software bugs.
Very few posts actually describe legitimate problems.
Also here in India, OnePlus is exclusively sold via Amazon or OnePlus' online or offline stores. So the support is extremely good. My brother got his op5's display replaced under 5 hours when it developed a hardware issue. I too registered a complaint with Amazon based on the bug with "switching to speakers while on call" (it has since been rectified via OTA update). Amazon offered a full refund on return (after the return window was over) but I wasn't ready to let go of my Avenger's edition OP6. (they didn't have it in stock to provide a replacement).
And on the new Red edition, I kind of wish I had gotten that refund. I am such a sucker for RED. Or atleast they could have launched it a few months afterwards like they did got 5t. I could have lived with that. Atleast there is dbrand to mildly ease that longing for RED. All OP 6 colours are just so amazing in their own way but RED is the colour for me. Wish I had waited for a bit.
Maybe my next phone would be red. Fingers crossed.
Mine arrived yesterday, amazing color.
