Anyone get the red version? - OnePlus 6 Questions & Answers

I was tempted but got the Huawei p20 pro last month. Love oneplus phones. I wish they work place a 4000 mAh battery in thier phones

I got silk white. That rose gold trim is just unbeatable to me!

I have a midnight black, but couldn't resist the red, so I bought one today.

Just ordered one today. Haven't used anytime but Google made phones since the Nexus4. What should I expect?

About the same speed as Pixels. Not as good support as Pixels, but who has better? Some nice extra features that Pixels don't have, but Pixel exclusive features would be missing. Camera is not as good, but pretty good - at least better than Pixel XL in low light imo. Hopefully some bug fixes that buggy Pixels still don't have - like the 2 Bluetooth device bug that Google hasn't fixed in years, but was fixed in at least 5.1.5 OOS, but was reintroduced in 5.1.6+. Pretty good screen but weak loudspeaker. The notch is surprisingly good - used to hate the idea of notch until I started using it, it's like free extra space that would otherwise be wasted.
Just don't order from Asia and only order directly from Oneplus. There seem to be serious quality control issues with hardware shipped to that part of the world - OP forums are littered with people complaining about hardware defects, and almost all of them have Asian usernames. Very few complaints from westerners.

I'm waiting it to be available on Amazon, but I'm really tempted to buy the midnight black and throw my G6 away...

Here you are

Yep, ordered the red yesterday, should arrive tomorrow, hope i get a flawless phone
I've been using sony devices for some years but i have ordered oneplus devices before for some of my friends and always liked them, great phones for their price point.
I will miss the sony community here in xda more than i'll miss not having a sony device anyway... but i'm sure the oneplus 6 will have lots of development and mods too, that's one of the main reasons i ordered the 6, i'll never buy a phone without an unlockable bootloader and community support, it seems like oneplus did a great job on that aspect giving phones to several recognized developers here on xda :good:

I'v ordered it for my wife.

I did. Should be here tomorrow. I'll check in when it does and let y'all know....btw this is my first post on xda but I have been following and reading xda forums since way back when I had a Motorola atrix4g and all thru my Samsung stages, missed being able to unlock bootloader and root and rom and whatnot so much so here I am. Lol my bad for thread jacking

I ordered mine it will be here tomorrow replacing Xperua xz Premium

Just received my RED OP6 today and it is AMAZING!

Got it today too, AWESOME phone and color. Don't like the notch that much but since i can hide it it's not a problem at all.
Phone seems flawless so far, screen seems perfect, camera and speakers too, battery life is still to soon to tell.
Already unlocked, rooted, and flashed franco kernel
Will have lots of fun flashing roms and mods for sure

Nice.
What OS version did you get? If it's 5.1.5 like mine, don't update it. Wait for 5.1.10. There were a few bugs introduced with 5.1.6+.

@nabbed Thanks for the tip, but i got mine with 5.1.8 already installed. Date on the box is 25/06/2018.
Didn't notice any bug so far, do you know what bugs are identified in 5.1.8?

There are a few. I have one that is a pain in my ass - when you connect two Bluetooth phone devices, the second one connects as "Connected (no phone)" - cannot make calls.
So, if you have a smartwatch that can make and receive calls, and you get inside your car that also has BT, the car unit will not work. Solution - disable "phone" function on the watch.
Sucks, since you can use both devices simultaneously in 5.1.5, with Samsung phones, and, I suppose, in theory.

Ordered my Red OP6 and it'll arrive tomorrow but I won't be home from a work trip for another week and a half!
I previously had a HTC Vivid and then Galaxy S4; both from AT&T but I was able to root both phones. I then went to this piece of &*!t locked LG G4. SO MANY HARDWARE ISSUES! That's the last time I buy a phone from a cell provider.
Can't wait to get my hands on this SEXY red phone and get root back!

I can't agree with that reasoning. One of the main reason you are seeing more Asians than westerners in OP forum is because OP sells a lot more devices in Asia than in the west, atleast AFAIK. Also I regularly glance through a few of those posts daily and lot of those seem to be about accidental damages or repetitive posts about known software bugs.
Very few posts actually describe legitimate problems.
Also here in India, OnePlus is exclusively sold via Amazon or OnePlus' online or offline stores. So the support is extremely good. My brother got his op5's display replaced under 5 hours when it developed a hardware issue. I too registered a complaint with Amazon based on the bug with "switching to speakers while on call" (it has since been rectified via OTA update). Amazon offered a full refund on return (after the return window was over) but I wasn't ready to let go of my Avenger's edition OP6. (they didn't have it in stock to provide a replacement).
And on the new Red edition, I kind of wish I had gotten that refund. I am such a sucker for RED. Or atleast they could have launched it a few months afterwards like they did got 5t. I could have lived with that. Atleast there is dbrand to mildly ease that longing for RED. All OP 6 colours are just so amazing in their own way but RED is the colour for me. Wish I had waited for a bit.
Maybe my next phone would be red. Fingers crossed.

Mine arrived yesterday, amazing color.

G2X back in stock in mid July? Get Healthy?

I stumbled across this while looking at some other things and I saw on this list that the G2X (the third line) has a "get healthy" date of mid July. Does anyone know if by "get healthy" they mean inventory will be available or could that be an approx. update date?
http://www.tmonews.com/2011/06/t-mobile-g2-about-to-hit-end-of-life/
We have plenty of them in stock at our store.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA Premium App
my guess is once we get a working update, tmobile is going to re-launch the device and advertise it as coming stock with 2.3(.4?) rather than 2.2.2 like we have now... i just hope its sooner rather than later...
Yeah that's the same thing I'm thinking too. All of the tmobile employees that I've spoken to have all confirmed that the G2X does not have any inventory problems and that it was indeed pulled due to quality control issues. So I'm figuring that mid-july date, is when they anticipate having everything corrected and an update ready to go.
Got mine at Amazon. Ordered on Friday and was delivered today. They did raise the price by $50 though. Wasn't pleased but I had to have it.
Sooooo much better than my G2!!! I actually think I might have found the perfect phone.
That article is about the the G2, not the G2x. But I did see the reference to G2x about mid-july. I also see references to the Sidekick also, which is already out too right?
So I don't know what "Get Healthy" means but I don't know if it has anything to do with our actual phones and updates. Perhaps it is just sales classes or something.
I ordered mine on Tuesday night at wirefly. It was suppose to come today except stupid fedex decided to leave it at the hub for a while so hopefully it will be here tomorrow.

So question....even with the bad press about this device, you ordered it anyway. Why? Did the problems not bother you, or, are the problems only on certain or a small % of devices?
I've been around devices for a long time. All devices are problematic. But I have never had a device that was completely unusable, nor have I had a device that was not fixed within a few months.
Why would anyone intentionally order this device now?
...I ask because, I too ordered mine yesterday from Amazon, will be here monday.

The G2X has it's share of issues, but it is far from being unusable. The main issue as I see it is battery life and random reboots. I know from trying to the leaked gingerbread rom that the battery life is greatly improved on that rom, so I'm expecting that to be resolved with the gingerbread update. Hopefully they solve the random reboots also. I have used a few different G2X's and at the most I've had my phone reboot once per day, but usually it happens once every two or three days (which I can live with until it's resolved). As far as screen bleeding, I think that really is people being kind of nitpicky really. It isn't something that you can notice unless you set out to notice it (turn brightness all the way up in a dark room and look at a black screen). So I hardly see that as much of a real issue. Overall, I am pretty happy with the G2X other than the battery life (which will be improved after the update).

Currently got a G3 and OPO is on its way

I've had the 32GB EU G3 for a month now and I've just bought (unfortunately) an invite on eBay after missing my invite from OnePlus but I am well excited! I can see me sticking with this phone, I am expecting to be disappointed with the size and weight but everything else should please
Are there any known faults to look out for?
Thanks!

Another one here! Had the G3 for a few weeks now and just ordered the OPO today...I have the ATT version. Looking forward to the OPO!
I just sold the G3 when I got my One. I liked the G3 a bit better in the form factor as it was smaller but honestly, the One is a better all around phone at this point. Battery life is better, development is better, audio is better and its much faster with fewer lags. If they get Cyanogen working on the G3 it will be a fantastic phone but for all the hope there is with it now, I just can't see them unlocking the bootloader anytime soon on the AT&T model. My one does not have the yellowing issue but you can see the digitizer plainly. There are just many small issues with the G3. They can all be worked out but they will always be behind the One with Cyanogen. The difference in price was a big factor for me as I wanted a new Ping driver and that extra cash made the difference.

Bro, you should do your research first before buying anything lol The only real hardware fault that I've found on the OPO comes in the form of a yellow band found on the bottom 1/5th of the display, the yellow tint becomes apparent on white backgrounds, but it personally doesn't bother me, or I should say that I'm at peace with it now. For the price and specs, I'm happy with the purchase and compromise. There are a lot of people whining about the issue, and OnePlus has been ****ty with their service, but just open the packaging check it out, and if you don't like it, just sell it as new on eBay for a small 40-80 dollar profit after fees

Yeah I'm really looking forward to modified Cyanogen, I am a stock android fan anyway and I love the speed and transitions also with Android L around the corner, I think there is a much better chance of the OPO getting it first

Thanks for the reply mate, am I right in thinking the OPO is shipped from the country that you order from? So mine is shipped from the UK?
also if it does have the yellow banding (which I hope it doesn't because I can't overlook faults haha) will they not just exchange it?
Just ordered my opo to replace my oppo find 5 personal device, have a g3 work phone that I'm really digging, but got the invite and I'm excited for the upgrade.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the G3. If they had the development over there it definitely would have been a keeper. I think most of the compromises would be easily worked out by some good developers. The only thing that would not be able to catch up is the battery life. The size and the screen is fabulous for a 5.5" device. I'm still thinking the perfect phone would be a G2 sized device with all the updates of the G3 and the 805 processor.
I'm getting 50+ hrs per charge and avg about 5 to 6 hrs if SOT stock Rom, rooted. I think the G3 is one of the best phones I've used to date.

I actually love my G3 but I have been wanting the One for a while. #33467 on the OnePlus forum and did get my invite but gave it away because at the time my wife had a major surgery out of town from us and we were strapped for money. I just got the money together so I got the One. Or should I say its ordered.
I love Cyanogen and with the G3 so locked down right now for ATT I am glad I am able to get the One. I do have my G3 rooted with some good mods, viper4android, titanium, xposed tweakbox, etc. and it is very nice. It isn't as bogged down like my Sammy phones were with stock so I am enjoying it. But, I need development! I will be keeping it around. Letting the wifey take it and selling her note 3.
Well, I feel good about my choice getting the OPO. Can't wait!
I've never got over 4 hours sot on my G3 with the exact setup as my one, this phone never has under 7. You can cook eggs on the G3 under certain situations so I respect the 4 hour sot, the energy has to come from somewhere
Im in the same boat, I have the ONEPLUS and have been using it for almost a month. I have had the opportunity to get the LG G3 which I really want to get but I have had one thing stopping me from getting it. 1.) The audio/headphone jack problem I heard about. Some users say they dont have it some say they do.
I prefer the G3 over the ONEPLUS because the screen is the same size but the phone form factor is smaller and easier on the hands and pockets. Also it has removable battery which is a HUGE plus and the external SD card which is pretty nice, even though I use Google Drive.
So..I probably will stick with the ONEPLUS for a while until I have to switch to the G3.

Just got an invite.. Is this phone worth it still?

Think you can get a Galaxy Note3, LG G2, Nexus 5 or other 800/801 spec phone for 350 (US) dollars?
I got the Nexus 5 and the OPO is way better(faster, better camera, quality materials, great design)
It's still worth it now and will still be worth it in the next 6-9 months and beyond.
But be realistic: it might have a band to some degree or it might not. You might have to use the supposedly poor after-sales service or you might never need to.
I have a very slight yellow band at certain angles. Being in China, it would be much easier and cheaper to send it back than those overseas but I will not. It doesn't bother me.
Overall: it's a big phone. It's a high-spec phone. It's a (comparatively) low-cost phone.

OPO blows the Nexus 5 out of the water. But who knows what the Nexus 6 will bring. I suspect that, if you are a diehard Nexus/pure aosp fan, the Nexus 6 would be a better choice (if you can live with subpar battery life). But if you like CM, the OPO is the best phone available. I'd say get it, and if you don't like it, sell it and get something else. You won't have any problem selling it for what you paid, and you might actually make some profit.
Way worth it. Typing this message on it
Don't know, just got mine and the volume buttons do not work at all. Now gotta wait another few weeks I guess and hope they answer my replacement request. Really bummed. Seems like a nice phone, but I cannot even boot into recovery with the thing to check stuff out.

Honestly, its worth it for $350. But I might sell it and get he Nexus 6 depending what is the specs and price. CyanogenMod is always buggy. By the time its stable, then there is already next version of Android. I would pay $100 more for 64 GB Nexus 6
People keep complaining about the small issues here and there, but the updates keep rolling in every week or two, so I can't complain!
People say other phones are better built or designed nicer, or will just plain be faster, being released in the next few months, and they may be right too.
The point is this, to me anyway: If you want something for a great value with good build quality, and are willing to deal with a couple kinks as they continue to be worked out, then this is your phone.
If you want 100% cutting edge latest phone with 99% bug free, then wait and pay $800 for the next phone that comes out from someone else. But don't buy this expecting perfection, and then be pissy and complain about it like 25% of the people on here do
Just my opinion

This guys opinion is pretty damn spot on I might add. Also asking in a forum is this worth it is really not a great thing to do. You cant get a definitive answer in a place like this. Also if you are on the fence then leave it alone and pass on your invite to others. Some will love some will hate it but its an electronic device which can be sold easily. No real risk factor at all.
Do what you like and feel comfortable with. I personally have little yellow banding which is not a big deal and everything else works as it should...
Worth it. My Notes 1/2/3 and Nexus 5 are all collecting dust now. The OPO is a superb phone.
It's absolutely worth it. Especially for that price.

Be aware that it does have several hardware issues including the yellow stain/tint/hue in the bottom of the screen. Here are some reviews. If you think you can live with those issues the go ahead:

Not all devices are affected by the yellow banding. And what are the other issues you're talking about? Not a single problem with mine or my fiance's.

Agree, but if the one you get is affected Oneplus will not replace it. They will only give you a refund if the RMA is within 14 days and you have to pay return shipping.
There are quite a few of other issues like ghost touch detection, multi touch issues due to bad grounding, battery draining too fast, random WiFi connection drops, etc. Take a trip around their technical support forum.
Some of these do not affect all devices and some are supposedly going to be fixed by software ipdates . But still buying this phone right now is like playing lottery and it turns out you lose with a bad device then good luck with their customer support.
Again, I'm not saying you shouldn't buy it, I'm just saying do your research before buying and know what you are getting into and what to expect.
Oneplus had a real winner in their hands but the way they have been handling things look very shady.
Here are some links:
This guy just gave up because Oneplus never had the decency to reply back to him. To my knowledge all phones have this issue including mine which really doesn't bother me but it those how the company handled the problem.

WiFi issues, I myself don't have that issue but I have seen several post popping up about wifi disconnects:

Honestly, a lot of the 'issues' I've seen talked about are just people not knowing how to use their device, or something that is out of the control of OnePlus (Google Play Services battery drain problem).
Where are you getting this information about OnePlus not replacing devices? It simply isn't true. I've seen multiple people report that upon opening a ticket for a valid fault they've been given the option of a replacement or a refund.
Don't get me wrong, I've also seen people complain about pretty crap customer support from the company, but that isn't the only kind of experience that people are having. Talking in absolutes like that is just wrong, and isn't really very smart.

[Q] One Plus - To Many Bugs?

Hello Everyone,
2 days ago there was a announcement that the one plus one would be available for 1 hour only to buy online. I was so hyped I went straight to the website and got my pre-Order ready and accessories sorted. However I am coming to a point where everything I read about the One plus is a Bug or a issue with it not booting ect. I would describe myself as a geeky teenager, I know my way around phones and computers but I still like to have a phone that will do its job without any/many issues. To any owners of a One plus please help me, Is the one plus one in a place where it is usable and can be used daily for all of my daily tasks (Browsing, Games, Calls, Lots of screen time) Or would you say at this current time there are to many bugs for the phone to be enjoyable?
I would really like to pre order this phone as It still has place in my heart however if there are a people thinking there are to many bugs id rather know and pick an alternative? Maybe a G3 for now.
Thanks all,
David
I have 2oneplus one and I know 4 other frds has oneplus one..not a single problem on any one of them. I also have note3 too. I like my oneplus one a lot more then my note3(its in my closet ever since I got my oneplus).
Sometimes I think people are having problems with the phone its because user error. And you gotta remember 97% of people who has the phone that are satisfy. Won't come online and post on forums telling you abt it. Usually its the people who has problems with there phone would post on forums trying to find a fix.

Exactly... No issues here whatsoever...
no issues (except with the yellowish bottom of the screen).
Sent from OPO.
Nah you right too many bugs if I were you I would not buy one either.... **snickering** gives me a better chance to get another one **evil laugh**
Man listen if you making up a thread for this you have already given up... Best phone I have ever had to date... No issues at all nor my half dozen friends with the phone.. Yellow tint - fix for that :good:
Hey David
If you are geeky and know your way around androids and Cyanogen Mod in particular you will have few if any problems with this phone as most of the errors that come up should be resolvable with flashes. That said unlock and root it upon receiving and get a custom recovery on the phone asap.
Those who do have hardware problems well... you can't blame them and though my own oneplus works great I don't knock the fact other people had problems. They got unlucky and oneplus self admittedly is swamped and hasn't handled the issue in a speedy way. It looks like they are dragging their feet compared to other companies when they are swamped. They should make a public announcement and put a pause on marketing. They haven't done that and I feel they justifiably received a lot of ire from unhappy customers.
In short, if you want to gamble the 1%-2% or greater chance you got a lemon you can try. There was a census on the forum that 7-8% who bought the phone need an rma. (forum census here https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/for-those-who-have-the-one-how-is-the-quality.95588/) I am being really critical and assuming more than half of the people who bought it had a software issue.
So perhaps that guesstimate is not correct but the majority IS happy with their phone.
And a warning that recently there was a spate of people who had random reboots and one plus has not made any announcements on the matter, also requiring people to send in videos of the random reboot.
So if you want to chance you will be out of shipping and handling at worst. At best you'll have a real kick ass phone myself and others really enjoy.
Hope that clarifies

Thanks all,
David

In my family alone there are 4 OnePlus One's:
1.) Me (64GB International CyanogenMod version)
2.) Brother-in-law (64GB International CyanogenMod version)
3. Brother-in-law's brother (16GB Chinese version with CM11s)
4.) My sister (16GB Chinese version with CM11s)
Non of us have any of the serious issues reported such as random rebooting, bootlooping, multi-touch or ghost touch issues. We do have the yellow band at the bottom (all of us) but its barely noticable.
tl:dr : Yes you can very well use it as a reliable daily driver AND should you have any issues thats what XDA is for.
Got my OPO a few weeks ago and have no issues at all. If I did I would of sold it day 1. I still have my N5 running the dev Lollipop, its fast and smooth, i could roll right back to it, but really like the OPO. Buy it, if you don't like it, sell it. Maybe you lose 20$, if you do, but in my book its worth it.
No issues at all on two of these things.

I have had 4 in total, bought my first used and the guy gave me his two invites so I bought them as well. All three had a small amount of yellow at the bottom of the screen but no other problems. The forth one I got used and is has no yellow tint but it did have a small touch problem where I would sometimes have to tap the phone twice to get it to register a tap but after the 38R update it has gone away completely so I have no problems at all with the phone. Best part of it was that I got this one for £160 and it was only a few weeks old.
I thought that the yellow tint on the other phones didn't bother me too much until I got my G3 and seen the difference between them so I sold the last one of the first three I got but after getting this one I can see that the yellow tint really did bother me because even though I can see a difference between the screen on the this one and the G3 is not that great and I have been using it most of the time over my G3

Should I buy this phone?

Hi Everyone
I'm looking to upgrade from a Oneplus 3. Previously it was a great price for good specs.
I noticed the magic 3 whilst looking at YouTube and the specs look amazing.
1 - Interested to know of those who have had it for a while would you recommend getting it?
2 - what are the main annoying factors about the phone?
3 - Are there any others in the price range I should consider? I mostly play pubg, do retoo gaming and watch films with my existing phone
Many thanks in advance
Jamie
1 - Difficult to answer....if you're not into rooting and customizing, but happy with a basic Android experience and raw power, you should buy it......otherwise,if you want 100% flagship bells and whistless for half the price, you'll have to search futher,as this phone does not 'has it all' for just €479.
2 - For me,the most annoying thing is that there's much more to squeeze out of the camera,if Nubia's app would match the capabilities......but hopefully, there will be a working Gcam release in the near future.
3 - Xiaomi Mi 9....but I fell for the RM3.....
Many thanks for the reply, I don't mind rooting if necessary.
Also happy with a basic android experience as my oneplus was pretty much that when it first came out.
Thanks for the suggestion I will look into that also ??

I can tell the battery backup is awesome. Only problem I have is the gaming buttons are too annoying when playing a video.
I have it unrooted without gapps and IMO its better then some flagships. Reason is the big screen and the big battery and the stereo sound.
Also I prefer metal over Glas backside. And NO Notch.
The camera is better than that on my Xiaomi mi mix 3.
this phone is amazing, the only bad thing i see it had is not hdmi usb-c to support
I would wait for two main reasons:
1) Asus is going to announce their new ROG phone at the end of this month. While it will probably be a good deal more expensive, It might have some cool features
2) Nubia just announced they are going to release an 855 Plus version of this phone.

Thing is,no matter how long you wait ,there will always be something better on the horizon after your purchase.......no matter which device you've bought...
Hi,
Considering the price and the specs, I think the Red Magic 3 is about the best phone you can have nowadays.
If you buy it, you should consider two things :
- Chinese UI has a lot of features but is ugly and themes are mostly paid ones ;
- Europe/US/Asia ROM has ZERO features.
Once I recovered from the disappointment, the second solution was clearly what I was looking for.
So here is my advice :
- take the Europe/US/Asia version and flash it to your device (if it doesn't ship with that as stock)
- unlock the bootloader
-root your phone.
All this is done in like 4/5 minutes...
Once done, install all apps to add the required features.
You will have a phone that has ONLY THE FEATURES YOU WANT.
No bloat, no unnecessary stuff...
A dream come true
Of course, it comes with a price : once rooted, you will get OTA notifications but won't be able to install them...
Regards.

True
If you live in North America, I'd steer clear of this company.
I ordered one of their phones last week. I still have yet to receive my shipping notice. I ordered it with priority shipping, and according to their website, it should have shipped within 24 hours of payment.
4 days after it failed to ship, I contacted support, and was told "Be patient". Ever since then, they've stopped responding to emails. They won't give me any sort of clue as to when my order will ship. Apparently this is a frequent occurrence with Red Magic.
They're one of those companies that are only interested in getting devices out to reviewers, everyone else is to fend for themselves.
The support page on their website doesn't work. Apparently they didn't pay for it. Nubia cannot give any answers either, they just argue back in forth in the support email with several of the employees arguing about who's job it is to deal with.
If you ever receive a phone from them, and have an issue, good luck with that. Their current company (if you can call it that) shows that can't deal with supporting their devices. They can't even deal with fulfilling orders.
Stay far far away from this company, for you own good.
Is there likely to significant difference between the 8gb and 12gb ram? I think I'm going to get it but wonder if it's worth the extra money. Also just seen they mentioned the magic 4 by the end of the year. So maybe prices will come down
Well I'm in N.A. and I bought it from the site day it released. Great phone, few bugs at the moment and its a gaming phone at heart with stock Android, easily customizable. Honestly any game task you throw at it handles like a boss. It's an emulation dream with built in buttons. My controller and case should arrive the 22nd and I'm sure it will be great. I can tell you any Bluetooth controller works well on it too. The choice to buy is up to you, basically do you want a gaming phone or something else.
I have had this for two days in the USA and I love it. Usually I have buyer's remorse and would be looking for a new phone by now so I can say it really is great. Battery life is better than my S9 with a Mophie pack so far. Even with playing with it constantly I can't kill it in one day and usually my S9 needs to be plugged in by late afternoon. I have not rooted it yet, and may not. I love a clean version of Android. Not sure why people think that is bad. All the random customization sometimes comes with a speed cost. This phone is just plain fast. Usually I root to get rid of crap so you can see where I stand. If you hate big heavy phones, don't buy it. That is the negative. I had a ZTE Axon 7 and updates were slow so that's another negative. Other than that, super fast, great screen, great battery, strong data signal...it's a buy. Reminds me of the original OnePlus, or the Axon. Phones that were surprising values, but were big and heavy.

I'm coming from the OnePlus 3(T) as well, looking for a new device. What I didn't like at the Oneplus were the original ROM (luckily Lineage helped a lot) and the sound and position of the speaker. I loved the front facing stereo speakers of my HTC One (m7) years ago.
So I'm thinking of purchasing the RM3, but at the moment there are no alternative ROMS. Another device I'm looking at is the Black Shark 2, but situation with ROMs and support seems to be even worse.
For the RM3, I have concerns, if a fan inside a mobile will really last for some years, or break down at some time...
I also had the 3T and 1 and the 6T obviously this is just a better phone due to the increases in tech. No way to tell on the fan, I will say...and not sure how ZTE vs it's company Nubia will work, but my Axon 7 had a couple of screen issues due to my dropping it and the speaker stopped working, not sure if it was due to that and ZTE fixed it every time free of charge within the first year. I was very happy with their service on that phone. ROM support will be lacking but it's a clean version of Android so I prefer that

To me...a clean, lean ROM, which the US version is, rooted with Magisk and other mods I choose myself is always the best option. Some custom ROMs can get pretty bloated themselves

It depends on what you are looking for an what you want to do?
If you are a person who is happy with stock ROMs an just leaves cellphones in the state they are in out of the box then yes buy it.
However if you are a person who likes tinkering modifications an custom ROMs the please do not buy this cellphone.
I tried to install TWRP over 2 months ago an got stuck in a fastboot bootloop. Every xda suggestion to fix this plus paying a cellphone repair center an trying heaps of suggestions an it's still non functional.
It has horrible software an is rediculously sensitive to any and all attempts to FLASH ANYTHING.
If red magic 3s break you might never be able to fix them at a software level.
Mine lives in a bag by my bed to remind me not to bite off more than I can chew.
I have a xiaomi Mi9 now an have no real issues with it.
Good luck with your decision
So the options are to buy on Ali are with a stock Global Rom or a Chinese ROM. I see some other posts about people flashing to the Chinese one. Is that the best option to choose? I take it you can still select the language as English and support here etc? Thanks for everyone's responded it's been really helpful. I was thinking of holding out for the 855plus but not sure if I can afford which will be most likely an additional cost for it.
I also have the same question but mine is a bit different. Im convinced i am going to buy it but...
Should i buy it now or wait for the 855+ version? Idc if its gonna be a bit more expensive

I would of thought it would be more expensive as they still have the original to sell. Probably will stick another £100 on it or so I reckon ?
