Has anyone had any success in rooting Sony Xperia Z3 D6633 dual sim?
I don't want to install custom ROMs or kernels, just rooting.
I installed a custom ROM on the Z1 and it turned it into a brick.
.....Also, is there a way to add permissions to use sd card without rooting? (android 4.4.4)
You cant root it without unlocking BL.
Be advised, unlocking BL will wipe your DRM and it camera will be worst.
Thanks, i don't want to unlock BL. Just rooting
probably just have to wait a little longer until somebody figures out how to do it.
Hope they will solve it soon! Going to buy a Z3 Dual in a few weeks!

I bought the Z3 recently coming from a rooted Galaxy S4 and damn do I miss a lot of the little features of the custom ROM I had. I thought I could do without the root but I really would like to have Carbon ROM again but on my Z3. Sorry if this has been asked many times before.

The D6616 has a locked bootloader, so no custom roms as far as I know. Only Sony knows how to unlock it. As for root, we must wait for another exploit that would allow root access on this version of the Xperia Z3. There's nothing else to do but wait.

Another exploit is not needed. In theory giefroot would work. However the parameters of the memory allocation are needed in order for the exploit to work. They can only be found from rooted devices (Hence why unlocked bootloader devices were asked for in the development of the tool)
As the D6616 has no unlocked bootloaders that info can not be found. It could be done by trial and error, if you have several years to try each one....

Damn okay. What phone would you recommend that I can root right now?
I have an Xperia Z3 D6603 running android lollipop 5.0.2 and it says in my service menu that im not allowed to unlock my bootloader. ive heard that its posssible to change this on multiple occasions and seen phones of the exact same model and firmware as mine that have unlocked their bootloaders and rooted their phones and i would like to do the same. i have tried different methods of unlocking from both official and unoffical sources, with no success. if anyone can please tell me how i might change the status or how i can unlock my bootloader and root (yes ive heard the risks a million times, no i dont really care about losing the drm keys that allow better lowlight conditions with the camera, and my phone actually has slowed slightly since the lollipop update) it would be much appreciated and of course if any additional info is needed, i will of course provide such as quickly as i am able to. thanks in advance and all input is appreciated.
you cant unlock the bootloader then, if you want root then you will need to downgrade to kk and root the device and install a pre-rooted lp rom
Hi guys, just a couple noob questions:
I'm planning to update to Marshmallow but, if I don't like it can I go back to Lollipop?
This is because maybe I'll have bugs like most people here and also because I want to root it(when they find an exploit) and that can only be done while in Lollipop am I right?
Thank you for your help.
Yes you can go back to lollipop if you want by flashing lollipop firmware with flashtool.
There is root for MM.
Is there root?
But I have to unlock the bootloader right? I'll just wait until there's a way to root without doing that.
No that's not right if an exploit is found on marshmallow then there would not be need to go to lollipop unless the exploit was found on lollipop. Also marshmallow has far less bugs than lollipop. But as @gm007 said there is unlocked bootloader root and you can downgrade by flashing firmware with flashtool

In case if you didn't know, if you're waiting for root without unlock because of the loss of functions e.g x-reality etc., check this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/development/sony-credentials-restore-unlocking-t3296383
(Sony credentials restore after unlocking the bootloader), It simulates the sony credentials to get the sony functions back.
If you are waiting for different reason, just ignore my post.

If you use systemless root, you should be able to take updates; you'll have to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom kernel. Take a look at either SuperSU or Magisk.
Why would you need OTA, just flash newest version with flashtool and that's it.
And the most easiest way to root, is to :
unlock bootloader, flash latest 32.2.A.5.11 firmware using flashtool, and then flash patched stock kernel( twrp included), and flash latest supersu using TWRP (it will be installed systemless). Cheers
You won't receive any OTAs once you unlock your bootloader.

As far as I know, there is currently no way of rooting Xperia Z5 without unlocking the bootloader. If you decide to do so, don't forget to take TA backup before doing it.

Sony Z5 black
Nah, it just fails to unlock.
BACKUP DRM KEYS BEFORE UNLOCKING !!!!! Just in case anything goes wrong and you need to take your phone to service center (so you won't void your warrenty)
hello i'm new with sony phones i want root xzp and don't see good way to do so..
i had lg g3 and i rooted it with kingroot someone try this method or sameway similar? and for don't get a break for root do i must unlock the bootloader or its only for install different recovery???
It's currently not possible to root without unlocking your bootloader, and if you do that, you'll lose various features (notably most camera modes). You'd be wise to wait.
