[Feature Request] Tasker Integration - AirDroid

Add a feature to remotely run tasks from tasker/ make your own commands with tasker
This would be a great feature to add to a very large feature list that airdroid already has

[APP] Out of Milk

Hello everyone,
I've been working on an app for the past couple of months. It's called Out of Milk and it is an intuitive and easy-to-use Shopping List, Spice Rack and To-Do List app. This is my first Android app, so any feedback is welcomed. I just released v1.3 to the Market (the first public version was 1.2 and it hit the Market last week for the first time). Android 1.5 and up are supported.
I've spent a lot of time making this app intuitive, easy, simple. Here is a summary of the feature from the Out of Milk website
V2.0.9/V2.0.10 Update:
This release focused more on getting our Pro features out there. Our next releases will be a little more balanced as far as free/Pro features are concerned. We plan on add lots of features to the free still.
Feature: Ability to specify a product as tax free. Out of Milk will remember this in the product history so that the next time around this item will be tax free automatically.
Enhancement: Spanish language support.
Feature: Sync/backup your list with our servers. (Pro only)
Feature: Manage your lists online on our website (http://outofmilkapp.com/) (Pro only)
Feature: Real-time list sharing with other Pro users. (Pro only)
Feature: Widget. (Pro only)
Feature: Ability to enter coupon information. (Pro only)
Pro stuff can be unlocked by installing the Out of Milk Pro Unlocker.
V1.6.2 Update:
Enhancement: Barcode scanner now recognizes more items that it did before.
Feature: Manage Product History. You can now manually add items to the Product History. This comes in handy for those who would like to setup their Product History manually.
Feature: Move items between Shopping Lists and Pantry Lists. Prior to the update you could only move items between Shopping Lists and only between Pantry Lists. Now it is possible to move an item that is in the Shopping List to the Pantry List and vice versa.
Feature: Scan items in the Pantry List. It uses the same scanner as the Shopping List.
Feature: Quantity and unit is now available on the Pantry List items.
Feature: Out of Milk comes with a barcode scanner included and no longer depends on the Barcode Scanner app from ZXing.
Enhancement: Menu icons don’t look blurry in Android 2.3
Enhancement: Various bug fixes and other improvements.
V1.5.1 Update:
Feature: The Spice Rack has been turned into a Pantry List. You can now have multiple Spice Racks. You can also create lists of essential items such as flour, sugar, etc... which aren't spices.
Feature: More complex editing screen. The Shopping List, To-Do List and Pantry List items can now be edited in a more complex screen that allows for more information to be edited.
Feature: Ability to set the quantity and unit. Current supported units are: lbs, oz, kg, g, L. If you think you might need another unit, let us know and we'll add it.
Feature: Ability to set the price on products. This can help users save money when shopping. The total amount of the list will be displayed at the bottom of the list. Out of Milk will remember the price for the next time you enter the same item. You can also specify a general sales tax in the Settings screen so that the total with taxes is also display. The total with taxes isn't accurate since not all grocery items necessarily taxed. For example in Florida, water and medications aren't taxed. We plan on expanding the price feature in the future.
Feature: Ability to set a reminder for To-Do list items. This has been a feature requested by a lot of users. Out of Milk will remind you by notification on the date and time you've set. There's also a snooze functionality that allows you to snooze the event for 9 minutes (this is configurable in the Settings).
Feature: Using a slider that ranges from empty to full, you can now set an approximate amount for Pantry List items.
Feature: We've added a Note text box to Shopping List, To-Do List, and Pantry List items. It's optional and you can just put in whatever notes you need.
Enhancement: Some users didn't like having their Shopping List sortable. They would have rather have it be sorted alphabetically. We added the ability to have the Shopping List, To-Do List and Pantry List sorted alphabetically.
Enhancement: We've improved Out of Milk's speed despite having added tons of features. Some of the slow parts of Out of Milk have had their speed increase by a factor of 3-4.
Enhancement: Lots of new Settings and configurations.
Bugfix: Keyboard doesn't pop up when editing an item.
Bugfix: "Add from History" list is sorted alphabetically.
V1.4.3 Update:
Speech-to-Text for phones that support it.
Enabled App2SD for Android 2.2.
Updated the UI a bit (no more cancel button, just click back or Done on the keyboard to dismiss the textbox)
Minor bug fix.
V1.4 Update:
Adding items is much quicker and smoother than before. Keyboard automatically opens now when adding new items.
Shopping List History: All items you add are saved to the history. If you scan a barcode and the product could not be found, then the item you typed in will be saved the next time that barcode is scanned again. You can also view the list of history items and add them to the list.
Ability to pick a smaller font size for all lists. To change the font size, press the Menu button on your phone on the main Out of Milk screen, then pick the Settings menu item. There you can set the font size for list items.
Cross-out/Uncross-out all items in a list.
Support for German, French and Dutch locale.
V1.3 Update:
Take your Shopping Lists with you everywhere in an intuitive and easy-to-use package.
Scan products directly into your Shopping Lists using the integration with Barcode Scanner.
An auto-complete database makes adding grocery items a breeze.
The digital Spice Rack means you always know what spices are in your spice cabinet.
The To-Do List lets you add and keep track of any other items on your daily list.
Multiple Shopping Lists and To-Do Lists.
Share your Shopping Lists and To-Do Lists by email or text message.
Reorder your list items on the fly.
Let me know what you think and what could be improved upon. Thanks!
This is a really nice app. Way better than the one I was using. Great job on this. The barcode scanner is an awesome touch.
Awesome app. Very easy to use
I like the idea of having a virtual Spice Rack, reminds me of Shelves which I use for movies.

Thanks. That's the idea. Whenever I was at the grocery store I could never remember if I already had a spice in the spice rack. This solves the problem. I'm thinking of turning the entire spice rack into a pantry with predefined lists such as "Spice Rack", "Dry Goods", etc... That way you can inventory your entire pantry (since it's stuff that doesn't change often)

Very slick app. I like it a lot. I've tried a bunch of apps for this very reason and it looks like I'll be sticking with this one. The virtual pantry idea sounds like an excellent item.
For the lazy, if there was a way for us to take a picture of our pantry and tag it on a list as a list by itself, that'd save some time.
Nice looking app there mate. Will try it out soon
What is that mod you are using for the % showing in the battery?

Thanks! I'm running Cyanogenmod 6 and there's an option for that.
Must say the app looks fantastic. Would like to have some sort of widget. Then it would be perfect

just what i was looking for. looks very neat i will try it out
Great App. We (My wife and I) love it!
Suggestion: Would be awesome to be able to share list from OOM to OOM. So that I could use the Done option from the list my wife sends me.
Really nice app. I think I will use it in the future.
One thing. How does the barcode scanner work? I mean.. with what kind of codes/database.
I'm asking, as I scanned some products and nothing was recognized:
book: Lord of the Rings
gummy bears
PS3 game: GTA4
Edit:
Ok, just tested it again and now at least GTA4 is found. And a bottle of Pepsi.
Don't know what the problem was in the first time.
However, I'm still interested in what database is used, as e.g. the gummy bears still are unknown.
Just a suggestion...
What about using a form in Google Docs to allow sharing between multiple devices? You could populate our Google Docs with the required field and then we could share it among those allowed within Google Docs.
Just a suggestion.
Widget would be great but I'll have to wait to switch until you add multi user editable lists. The app I use now isn't perfect but bring able to share an editable list within the app with my wife is key
UI is very good.
I have one suggestion to make which i have not seen on any shopping list apps.
Share Shopping list via Email or text message but with the same format.
let me give an example
my wife makes the list and emails me the list (if it can be a attachment) and then i download it and open it via your app then i can see the same list just like the way it was created and not as a unformatted list in the email...
is that possible?
lovely app, has the potential to overthrone Astrid Task as my main to-do app, grat work!

The database we're using is the one from upcdatabase.com. It isn't very complete. I'm working on getting a better database.

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't think about that. We've kind of already decided the route as far as how we're going to implement list sharing.

I'll look into that. It may be possible if I attach an .oom file to the email and then setup a way to handle .oom files using Out of Milk. Thanks for the idea.

[App] Terminal Helper

Hello, i made application which helps people who work in terminal/ssh client on android powered devices like me with long commands. You can set variables in the middle of the command and then just replace changing part of whole commands etc..
Full description, screenshot and QR code pointing to Android Market is on my blog http://josef-rysanek.blogspot.com/2011/01/terminal-helper.html
Hope somebody find it useful like me and if you have a reasonable improvement suggestion, feel free to write it here. Apk is here as attachment or on Android Market.
Like the idea. Cool and helpful for Desire! Will try, once I get back home.
*Updated*
Tried it and have few suggestions.
* Instead of a single list, can you make a folder structure of label?
* Ability to change the font.skin background colors would be nice
* word dictionary for commands or something where we can pickup command quickly?
Anyway nice tool. Keep it up good work
I'll think about "Folder structure" oranized commands, it make sense when you have a couple of environments with a lot of servers in each. Thanks.
About that quick pickup of command i will add search posibility to GUI.
And at last, thinking about sync to some server, but don't know if "Internet Access" permission will be security issue or not for admins.
Anyway thanks for comment/ideas.

[Q] Tasker Integration VIA API

Hi All,
I'm trying to use Tasker to build a widget and track usage metrics for MX Player. I'm using Tasker's "send intent" function along with a few extras to launch particular files at particular positions.
What I'd also like to be able to do is detect when MX Player stops playing, save the current file and current position to be resumed by the widget later. From the API it seems that this information is available (refer Result: com.mxtech.intent.result.VIEW) but I can't get Tasker to see this information. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the way MX Player broadcasts or with how Tasker listens (and the associated configuration)
Can anyone confirm that com.mxtech.intent.result.VIEW is a broadcast intent, and if so how I might get Tasker to react to its status changing?
Thanks,
Michael
x-posted on the Tasker help forum also: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/tasker/GvbDy9jMGzI
the Tasker dev says:
It's not clear to me if the result intent is a separate broadcast or just the results from
a call to startActivity.
If the result code is sent with 'startActivity' i.e. the target is an activity, you won't be
able to pick it up in Tasker.
The sample code is a bad link.
I would contact the devs for clarification (and fixing the link).

bumping this.
further comments from the Tasker dev:
Looking at the sample it seems they made the common mistake of assuming they would be called by an activity
via startActivity.
Result is apparently only obtainable via onActivityResult in the calling activity.
The result intent action is defined in the sample code but never used....

Hmm, it would definitely have to be @bleu8888 that could answer this question.

[Q] Location/Events Mapping App

Hi All,
Complete newbie to this forum and not an app developer... I simply come up with ideas and get people far more capable than me to develop them!
An associate has asked me if it would be possible to create an app with the following functionality:
1. Utilise Google Map UI.
2. Search by event type.... drop down list.
3. Update events available.
4. Provide info on event when marker is tapped.
My background is in games and productivity apps... hence my post here.
I know how to integrate GMaps in app... so no issue there. The question is how to include the functionality of displaying events as markers (colour coded to type of event possibly?) based on a defined list, including search - filter - display function and how to define the list of events.
This is a complete brainstorm at the moment so any comments would be great!
Thanks everyone! :good:

[APP] Assistant for Google Now Reminders

Easily add reminders to Google Now without having to speak up or typing queries.
We can add reminders to Google Now by typing or speaking something like "remind me to..." followed by the description and time. But if we have to add reminders again and again this becomes a hassle to type or speak long sentences like this. This is where this Assistant for Google Reminders comes to the rescue!
This Assistant helps you to input your reminders in a much friendlier and easy manner, then it makes the perfect query and opens the default Google Now where you will only need to press the blue tick icon and you will be done.
This saves you the hassle to perfectly speculate the query which Google would want to listen to. You can also add a home screen shortcut on your device if your launcher supports it.
The Assistant does not act as a reminders app, but rather as a mediator app between the users and the Google Now reminders. The reason it uses Google Now reminder mechanism is that Google Now is a product made by Google and hence updated and supported regularly. Plus you get all the benefits like sync, availability, etc.

Like this , not sure about the icon though bro
Good work
Thanks! I downloaded the icon in a hurry, didn't give much thought to it. I made and published the app in only few hours
In your work on this, did you discover a way to create a shortcuts to the list of reminders? Both the google app and Inbox can interface with the reminders, but creating a direct shortcut has proven difficult.

I haven't looked into this, but there must be a definite Activity (screen) for this. Maybe the ROM developers would know.

I've looked, but havent been able to find one that works. Found one mention of the Google app having shortcuts on 7.1.1, another mention of the reminder creation confirmation screen sometimes offering to place a shortcut, but that's the extent of it.

If the app allows to create shortcuts, then someone might be able to get it. Not that it may happen soon, but it is there in the device, so it doesn't look entirely impossible.
