SSHDroid is a SSH server for Android (more informations about SSH here).
This application will let you to connect to your device from your PC and execute commands (like "terminal" and "adb shell") or edit files (through SFTP, WinSCP, Cyberduck, etc...).
Windows users:
- File Transfer: WinSCP.
- Remote Shell: PuTTY
Linux users:
- File Transfer: natively supported by most file managers (like Nautilus or Dolphin), just enter the sftp address displayed as location.
- Remote Shell: run 'ssh' from the terminal
Mac users:
- File Transfer: Cyberduck
- Remote Shell: run 'ssh' from the terminal
Root is supported (in particular if you need to execute it on the predefined SSH port that is 22) but not required.
FAQs:
q: Why my transfer speed decrease when I turn off the screen?
a: Enable the option 'Lock Wifi'. If your device is running at least Android 2.3.x, you should get full speed transfer even when the screen is off, otherwise enable the option 'Lock screen' too.
q: How can I use a shared key with Putty/Winscp?
a: You have to generate a key from the application in OpenSSH format and use Puttygen to import/convert it in ppk format. A recent version of Puttygen (>= 0.61) is required!
q: How can I upgrade to the pro version?
a: If you previously purchased SSHDroidPro on Google Play, the new version will automatically detect it and upgrade to pro otherwise you can unlock it as in-app purchase.
q: How can I automate the application start/stop?
a: Use the following broadcast intents:
START: berserker.android.apps.sshdroid.command.START
STOP: berserker.android.apps.sshdroid.command.STOP

I don't agree with the app being "free" if it's ad supported AND forces itself to quit if Ads are disabled on the phone (ie... via Ad killers like AdFree).
I see you also have a 'Pro' version of the app for ~$1.30US, but now that there's a 15min only refund window, I was interested in trying out your software but I'm feeling a little "trapped" into having to either allow Ads or buy your app outright (no way any decent amount of testing can be done within 15min).
Sorry, but for me, I'm going to pass.
This is an ad-supported application (it won't start if you disabled ad on your device)

you're really shooting yourself in the foot with this. I won't disable my ad-blocking hosts file for this app and i'm not gonna buy anything that i didn't test first -> you've lost me as a potentional customer

I think that the market already gives you a great opportunity to test the "pro" version with the "refound" option: ask Google to change the 15min limitation if it's not enough for you, that's not a decision of mine.
In my opinion ad-free tools are a shame for Android and for all us developers.
Wow I've been copycatted

I'm not going to make a big fuss as the core part (Dropbear), for both projects, is open source and we're both setup on github posting the modified sources which is good.

SSHDroid's dropbear's github: https://github.com/berserker/android_external_dropbear
But I would appreciate it if you tried to differentiate a little more and wrote your own help page. The interfaces are also very similar, but that's at least a relatively natural interface for a program that controls an SSH Daemon and needs to provide information on such.

Hi Kevin, thanks for provide the screenshot of the help page (I missed that ) but...why did you post only the "bottom" part ? Wasn't the top too much copycatted for you ?
Btw yes: I was a customer of your application in the past but once a day I decided to write my own implementation for the requirements that I need and I take the terminal commands help from there: I don't see any sort of "stealing" in that (I cannot change the "commands" ). You can try to decompile the two apk and see if they are really similar before posting such words.
I find not very kind to spam your application here instead...
Peace, bye

I didn't accuse you of stealing my code and I have no interest in decompiling your APK as it's simply not worth the effort. It's obvious that you looked at my app and copied the ideas and interface and even the help. The top of your help follows the same format as mine as well, just with less details. I felt showing the bottom highlighted the similarities best.
The commands are indeed just commands, and of course I wouldn't try to claim owner ship over them, but you wouldn't have accidentally put them in the exact same order, and used this exact same unusual and funny command of:
Code:
ssh-keygen -t dsa -f ~/.ssh/id_dsa -N ''
ssh -p 2222 [email protected] 'cat >> .ssh/authorized_keys' > ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub
Why not just use scp to copy the key over?
Like I said, I'm not trying to make a big fuss, I'm not trying to get you to shut down your app or anything. By all means keep pushing it, keep improving it. I'm just pointing out that your app, in it's current state, is only a copy of mine. And again I encourage you to differentiate yours from mine. Give me some competition . Give me something to copy .

As a user of both apps (paid quickSshD and this ad-supported one) I must agreed with Kevin in that there's not really visible differences between them, actually.
Will stay tuned on this competition, always giving improvement to users.

Wow, I just want to say that i think it is funny that people are complaining about blocking use of the app if you use ad blocking software.
Being a developer myself, I too block use if you run adblocking software. The Ad supported versions are free because of the ads. If you have ways to block how the developer potentially makes money off the app, then it becomes pointless for developers to place ads in their applications, and then the only way they can make any money is to charge for the application.
Do you feel that the developers should just release everything for free and their time, skill and effort is worth nothing? In time, I bet you will see either more apps that block use if you have these ad blockers.

Nice app, I plan on trying it out later this evening. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure most people here have some kind of technical background and know the value of a nice app. But also most of us want to test-drive an app before they buy it, just like you don't go into a record store and pick a random CD but you listen a few songs before buying.
According to appbrains list I spent $171.87 on apps so I'm really not someone expecting stuff for free, but I will not buy anything I didn't test before. And I'm not going to change my phones config just to be able to test some app, if you as dev think you can force your users to configure their phone in a particular way then I'm a lost sale for you.
It's really the same way that websites not working in my browser lose me as customer, there's more than enough competition, I'll just go use a website that wants me as customer.

I agree with you but...what's wrong with testing "SSHDroidPro" and refound it if it doesn't meet your requirements? The "pro" version does not check for adblockers so you can test it
I'll add this notice to the topic.
ROFL!
I was thinking about the same! I am happy user of QuickSSHd, I have paid it, and now I see this mirror picture of the same app!
I think that such behaviour is not fair...simply to copy other app, and without any credits sell it as own work...
So I am sticking with QuickSSHd, because I do not want to be part of this theft. I know that both apps are opensource, but the thing is the same...
Anyway, thanks kevin for saying it. Thumbs up!

Couldn't agree more.
If your app is good people will buy it.
Don't force people into giving you revenue
I do understand the flipside though - why code for nothing. I think googles really ballsed up with the 15min refund window

Hi, can you elaborate more about "copy other app"? Copy what? 4 terminal commands? Did you try the application before making this accusation? I don't think...
I know linux well, so I do know that command syntax is mostly the same. But I have aldo seen screenshots in zhe first post, and I can compare app design to one I have already installed. And they are pretty same.

A 15 min window is just not enough to test an app. Playing around with the config, testing commands, trying different stuff, that all takes way longer than those 15m. I usually test the free version of an app for like a week or so and then - most of the time - I either buy/donate or uninstall and test a different app for that task.

Disable your adblocker for the time required to test the free version, then enable adblocker again and upgrade to the Pro version
Take all the time that you need
Well you obviously don't want me as customer. I don't have any problem with that, there's 2 good alternatives out there that don't force me to use the phone in the way you want, so goodbye.

Tired of taking notes manually? This app makes life easier for you!
Set some keywords, and AutoNotes will automatically take text notes of interested information from your clipboard, typed sentences and things that appear on your screen!
E.g. Set "appointment" as a keyword, when "appointment" appears in a Gmail, the Email content will be saved into a note.
Due to Android's limitation, AutoNotes cannot process everything that ever appears on your screen. So please copy very important information into clipboard in order to make sure that AutoNotes has saved it for you.
This is my second Android app, your suggestions and feedbacks are very appreciated
Changelog
========
2.0
- Regular expression support
- Option to be notified when a note is created
- Minor performance improvements
3.0
- Ability to export notes to SD card
- Ability to search past notes by regex or keyword
- Settings are now saved upon app restart
- Minor user interface improvements
This is a fantastic idea. I had no clue this was possible without root. Nice work.
Oh, and look what we have here...
pretty nice app, thanks a lot
Gonna give this a try
This is a free app... why don't allow it to "sell" in China? Its bad enough that all us China Android fans can only get apps on dodgy alernative markets even if we have valid credit cards and/or paypal. But this is a free app. Please make it available world wide. Limiting market availability does not prevent piracy... it encourages it.

The app is on its first release. I can only speak English and Chinese and I know the way AutoNotes identifies and counting words does not apply to Chinese language. Better support for the languages other than English is a WIP feature.

No problem. I have enabled the app in all countries.
Here I also attached the APK file if you would like to install it straight away.
I already rated AutoNotes on the market, but I figured to make my suggestions (sent to Guo in PM) public here for review:
Question: are keywords searched for regarding case or case insensitively?
I'd like to have two options next to each keyword: "case insensitive" and "pattern", maybe off by default. The "pattern" knob should interpret a keyword as a regular expression or perhaps as a glob pattern like in Unix filenames.
Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
Just one other thing: keywords should also have a "negate" or "not" flag: if keywords with such a flag are encountered, AutoNotes should ignore the text. In case one needs to email passwords or other credentials. While such an email would be sent encrypted (of course!), AutoNotes sees the cleartext, so this is kinda important ...
Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
Got another one: every note has the valuable button "copy to clipboard". When I use it, the note goes to the clipboard, but then I need to use the back button several times to exit Autonotes.
How about a configuration option "exit after clipboard copy" that will immediately exit Autonotes and thereby return to the app where I want to paste the note?
Major update pushed to Android Market

Thanks houzuoguo! I already got it from market. The regular expressions are a good idea. I hope you stay with this project.
I love this app. It solves my biggest frustration with Android. This app is absolutely effective.
I want to export all the notes although TB does restore everything. I can't find the data file...although I haven't really put an all out effort to find it... are the notes encrypted or in a basic text file?
EDIT -- found it. data/data/net.houzuo.android.autonotes/autonotes.db
and then squlited my way into a text doc.

In the next update, notes will be able to be exported into text files.
A major update is ready
3.0
- Ability to export notes to SD card
- Ability to search past notes by regex or keyword
- Settings are now saved upon app restart
- Minor user interface improvements
Update: 7/13 - added free version (ad supported) to market.
I've always wanted a very simple app to let me have lists on my phone - shopping lists, to-do lists, etc, but it seems like the ones on the market have too many features that get in the way of easily creating lists, adding items, marking items as complete, and that's about it. So, I went ahead and wrote my own.
As of now, I'm happy with the app, and I've been using it for a couple of months now with no problems. But, being my first Android app (I am a professional programmer, but work in the web & desktop worlds), I'm sure there are opportunities to add features/functionality that would enhance the pure list-making experience. I had though about drag-and-drop reordering of the lists, but that seems to be more difficult to implement than I anticipated. Aside from that, I'm all ears about how to make the app better, prettier, more efficient, and more useful.
See attached for screenshots:
1) Main Screen - add/delete/backup/restore lists here
2) Back up is a simple SQLite DB file copy to the SDCard
3) Here are items in one list. Notice that some are gray - these have been "cleared" or "marked" as being complete by the user, via a simple click/toggle. An item's "cleared" status persists in the database
4) Once you're done clearing items, you can remove them from the list and database. Or, alternatively, you can unmark all of them.
See attached for APK file...
As I said, any suggestions or criticisms would be welcomed - but keep in mind that this app has a narrow focus, and I want it be very good with regard to that focus.
EDIT: Forgot also that now the app has a minimum SDK version of 8, so this app will run on Froyo (2.2) and above
I've done quite a bit more work, and now this app is available in the Google Play store. Since I don't have 10 posts yet, it won't let me include a hyperlink but here's the URL:
Code:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kozzer.lists&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5rb3p6ZXIubGlzdHMiXQ..
You can also find it easily by searching on my Google Play developer name: WebKozzer.
The additions include:
* drag and drop reordering
* 2 themes (light and dark)
* Optional numbering of list items
* Edit list name, or item text
* Delete contents of list without deleting list itself
* Configurable backup path
and more!
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!
Added free, ad supported version to the market. Any feedback or feature requests would be welcomed. I was contemplating attempting to integrate voice commands. Like, once the app is open, you can use voice commands to do everything the app lets you do via touchscreen. It appears that this would require a fairly significant coding effort, and I'm not sure how useful that'd be either.
Both the pay and free versions have been updated. Some UI changes, undo functionality, and ability to add items using voice.
Play links:
Pay version
Free (ad) version
Update: 12/12 - Removed ads from Lists! Free.
Also/including:
More general cleanup
Removed network state / access permissions (since they were used for ads only)
APK size reduced by about 100kB (removed AdMob library)
Improved error handling
nice job keep working on it

Hi, I recently took an Android Development at my school where I made this Flashcards Study App.
There's still a lot of work I want to complete before I call it finished, but it's a good start I think. I still want to add more quizlet functionality to it (since quizlet.com doesn't seem to have an android app yet.)
Download the App!
Some features:
* Offline Mode to study on the go without an internet connection.
* Adjust card flip speeds in the settings menu
* Long press on a deck to view options
* Shuffle your flashcards
* Search Quizlet to access millions of flashcard sets.
* Edit, Delete, and Create new flashcards with a breeze
* Text-to-speech integration
* Multi-language support
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card.
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
EDIT:
I attached an apk that you guys can use since I can't seem to post a link to the play store.
Or alternatively, You can search for "CardCloud FlashCards" in the play store to get the official app.
I'd recommend it since I'm planning on pushing a lot of new features in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks!

Works good. Is it possible to share own decks with friends? It would be amazing, also an option for read only and read write permissions for shared decks.

Thanks for the compliments!
Sharing is definitely a feature i'm going to be adding in the feature. Right now i'm torn between integrating some sort of facebook social network to allow for easier sharing. I've been busy trying to learn Ruby on Rails Development and Android Dev at the same time, so the cardcloud website is a bit lacking at the moment. But Sharing is definitely a big feature I want to implement.
Currently I'm in the middle of adding an ability for users to mark each card as easy/hard and then creating an infinite shuffle that will have a smart algorithm to show difficult cards more often.
That should be about two weeks out, and then I'll start working on the Deck sharing.
Great suggestion on the Read/Write permissions too! I think that would be an awesome feature, I've written it down on my notepad, so definitely stay tuned to this thread for any updates I make!
Thanks for trying out my app!
Redesign Icon
Hey buddy I think this app is great for studying and for group activities. Love what you have done. I also like the UI I made this icon for you just cuz i like messing around with Photoshop haha hope you like it

Hi. Great app. Is it possible to manually edit or create a set on a PC and transfer / open / import into the application?
A quick way of implementing this might be to add CSV or XML export and import?
Perhaps a link up to Google docs for cloud storage and on line editing?
Also, would you consider the addition of images on the flip cards? Perhaps a HTML format would make this easy to implement? A picture paints a thousand words and all...
Keep up the good work and I hope its a great success.
Steve.

Opening a quizlet with images renders nothing visible on the card
Steps to reproduce...
1. Search 2010 Honda Cars
2. Select any of the results
3. See the text (e.g. "2010 Honda civic") but on clicking the card to see the flip side - there is nothing.
Here is what is should look like... http://quizlet.com/1935486/2010-honda-cars-flash-cards/

CardCloud - Flash Cards
CardCloud,
Great effort thus far ... you've added the ability to create card sets! This is HUGE.
Some tips I hope you're able to fix in the coming updates, please.
1. Settings - there should really only be on 'settings' button for the app (the vertical elipses button; top right/bottom right corners).
2. Logon - should be a little more clear "what" service the logon pertains to.
- I thought the ability to logon to Quizlet would work with this ?? I'm an Android newb and I've already realized things are "assumed/presumed" to be known to new users, which its not clear on many applications or the OS itself.
3. KEEP the "skip logon" this is critical and I've come across many notes type apps that I cannot even create a note when in the subway because they require a persistent internet connection = total pain in the ass and useless! You've got a good thing going with this "skip logon" ability please KEEP IT Much appreciated.

Thanks! I'm planning on adding that feature pretty soon. Right now I'm on the verge of adding support for marking cards as either correct or incorrect. Also I'm adding in an in-app purchase to remove ads. I've also been working on the website portion of my app (cardcloud.net) which will allow you to upload your local decks onto a website (once you create an account) once it's uploaded, you'll be able to export from the site.
That's still a work in progress, hopefully in a week or two, I'll have that ready for you.
In the meantime, you can expect an update for marking the correctness of each card in the next day or two!
Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for trying out my app!

Hey! Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words.
I really like the idea of the skip button for logins. The reason the login is there is to allow users to sync their decks with the website portion of the app. (CardCloud.net) But I've been busy working on the app and haven't had a chance to get the webapplication completed yet. Hopefully in the next week or two You'll be able to backup your local decks/cards onto a website, where you can save them on a computer.
The settings functionality is a bit confusing, so I've done a bit of tinkering with it to make it more intuitive to use. Thanks for the suggestions though! I really appreciate the feedback.
In the meantime, I'm working on a v1.2 release which will allow users to mark cards as either correct/incorrect/half-correct/etc, to help with remembering your learning progression. Keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll be able to push that up to the google store by tomorrow. I'll also update this thread once that's complete!
Thanks again for trying my app!
Hey. Just uploaded an update to the current App on the Appstore.
Some New features:
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card. Mark a card as Correct/Incorrect/etc
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
* Settings AutoSave when changed, rather than having to hit a save button
* When Viewing a Deck from Quizlet, download the deck directly from the cardview for your convenience.
* Change your settings (flipspeed and question/answer reversal) from the cardview.

Hi, my girlfriend wrote out 20 sets as study for her exam on Wednesday. Her phone updated your app and it seems her card sets have been deleted (or lost). :crying:
Is your new updated version deleting user inputted card sets?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick response if you have a way to retrieve them.
PS, where are the card sets saved? In files (what location in phone)? Perhaps we can retrieve them manually?
Thanks, Steve.
Hey sd00, I'm really really really sorry that happened.
I found a bug in my code that was clearing the sqlite DB on updates.
I fixed the bug, but unfortunately it looks like her cards have been wiped.
This is embarrassing, I'm a noob and didn't realize that would happen.
There's nothing I can do, but promise it won't happen again.
For what it's worth, If I sent you guys an ad free version of that app, would that help?
Again, I'm really sorry, let me know what I can do to try to make it better.
I'm working on the ability to create decks online and then sync them to your phone, so hopefully that'll make it easier in the future to recreate the decks.
(If you'd like, you can even send me the questions/answers and I'll type them back up for her myself.
if you pm me an email address, I can send you an apk for the free version too.
Again, I apologize for my noobness.
For such a new app - this was an unforeseen mistake by the developer. The fact that he's VERY apologetic and this app does offer some great features over the competition I'll still support this app!
As experience is gained and more testing directly by the developer we'll this app continually excel and grow in feature sets and less bugs. Not many people appreciate developers' hard work and even less developers are as humble as this one.

Hey Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words and support! It's been a lot of fun working on this app and I've learned a lot from the experience. Hopefully as I improve, so will the app. Sorry again to sd00 for the bug. I spent a few days testing and retesting to make sure it wouldn't happen again before I pushed up the newest update this afternoon.
I've been working on the syncing functionality the last week or so and I got it finally working the way I wanted. Not 100% yet, but allowing users to create their decks online I think is a necessary feature, since writing out individual cards on a phone is a pain. I'd like to tweak it a bit to make syncs work faster/better, but I'm slightly limited by my web server since it's a bit slow. Hopefully if I can generate any revenue through the app, I'll be able to put it towards faster servers. I'll keep an eye on the bug log to make sure nothing goes awry though.
I've pushed the new features up onto CardCloud.net allowing users to login to their accounts and create their cards online. Also, I uploaded the app updates to the google play store so users should be able to get the updated app with fixed functionality. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up this time .
In the meantime, I have a couple new features in the pipes that I'm working on that I think should improve the app. Hopefully I'll be able to get these pushed out in the upcoming weeks:
- Image support for flashcards. Definitely a top priority feature, should have an update for this within the next few weeks.
- Rich Text Editing. Another top level feature I want for the app.
- Better Quizlet integration. Search for usernames, and returning public decks, recently studied, etc
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. When I get new features implemented for this app, I will post them here.
Development stops?

Hey everybody!
To God be the glory, I've been making some custom roms on XDA for a while, but I have decided to try to learn some new things by taking an app developer course. I've made a few apps, and I thought I would share them here as well. This app is open source, you are welcome to go to the Github and post issues, review and or copy the code (it is Apache-2.0 licensed), or download the app and enjoy!
These are my first apps, and I know they need a little improvement. So please feel free to leave a comment! But please remember, the best criticism is constructive.
If you do check out my Github, note that just about every line of my code includes a comment as to what it does or why it exists, so if you are like me and new to Android programming, be sure to check it out to see how it works! Also, in my Github are many "small apps" in the "apps_small" repo, which are apps I either made for the class, or made on the side to test out some feature or function. Hopefully that would be useful to someone.
Without further ado:
Just notes!
This is a no frills, simple, easy to use note taking application for those times that you just want to get straight to the point. Make and take notes, as well as save and delete old notes. A confirmation box will open before you delete a note to make sure that you really want to get rid of it. You can also choose the color scheme from the settings menu with eight colors to choose from! Best of all, this open source app has NO ADVERTISEMENTS!
About the permissions:
Read and Write to External Storage - Import and Export your notes!
This will require you to grant permissions to the app to read and write to your SD Card.

@AlaskaLinuxUser, thank you for developing this nice app, which is simple, yet effective.
Here's a few suggestions:
- add the possibility to select multiple "tabs" to delete
- import notes without having to rename the file manually into import.xml
I've noticed following small issues:
- the import button seems to export too and it export before importing
- when importing the import.xml, there appear a new empty "tab"
Overall, it's a nice app.
By the way, I suggest you to add "open source" too at thread tags, as sometimes I'm checking the apps using that tag. I've found your app by checking your profile to see what you're developing nowadays. I consider myself lucky. I hope you still remember me .
I'm looking forward for your apps.
Good luck!
