Anyone else got this, I just sent my phone for LG RMA/Repair
Could either be,
1. Hardware problem (problem with the power button).
2. Software problem (ROM-related).
But since you already sent in your phone, you can't really confirm the problem. Had no problems with my N5 when it comes to this. But either way, a repaired version would fix you right up.

I Already Factory resetted the phone and it was doing the same thing, it's 100% stock so I would say HW
Even in the bootloader if I scroll and tilt the phone slightly it would register it as a press.

Then its for sure hardware. Nothing much you can do but wait for LG to send you a repaired n5.
Hope it comes back soon!

Google is being hard headed, Saying they only RMA Google Play Purchased Nexus 5's
Any repair should be free, from the seller of the device. It is defective.
Not all of us are in the US nor did we all buy our phones from google.
Unfortunately corporations don't care anything to screw there customers out legit warranty claims

Hey, so I got my nexus s a few days ago and love it, how ever I've been having some problems with it.
Randomly the soft buttons on the phone, mainly the search key stars pressing its self. As in I'm not touching the phone but the button is being pressed.
I'm running cm7, don't really think its a rom thing but any help would be great.
Sent from White Nexus S on TELUS.
I have the same problem with my Home button. Drives me crazy!

That used to happen to mine too, I found that by booting into recovery and wiping data and wiping cache and dalvik cache fixed that problem.
Give it a try and let me know if it also works for you guys.

Ya I reset everything and really flashed. Still doing the same thing.

Long thread on it at google support. If you have an I9020a, then it's a known "bug". it is associated to the modem and only happens when on 3G
Sent from my Nexus S
Maybe put it back to stock and exchange it for a new one. Tell them the phone is defective.
Ive flashed the older radio and it seemed to help, do I still have warrenty if I got the phone from the U.S.?

The problem exists I the kb2 modem also though not has bad.
The warranty is not good across the border your will ned to ship it to the US then have it serviced from there. Pointless in my opinion since it is a software problem.

I guess ill just learn to live with it then, thanks for all they help guys.

Anybody else have this issue? It's as if its very sensitive too. I can barely touch the power button and my phone screen will shut off, but immediately come back on. Also if you actually press the button, the screen will shut off than come back on. Anyone else have this kind of issue?
Yeah this happened to mine just two days ago. I ended up pulling the button off entirely and using the phone without it. Super frustrating.
Power button failure is a common known issue with S3 devices. Take it back in most cases they replace the device.

Hi! Yesterday I took my Nexus 5 on a trip on top of my car and he decided to take a jump to see what will happen... Anyway, after really exciting jump and after I've found him, he was pretty much destroyed, but still working. So, I ordered new display with side bezels and repaired him today. At first everything seemed to be working, but now WiFi and Bluetooth won't turn on. I've took the back panel off to make sure everything is OK, and then I could turn Bluetooth on. After putting everything together again, it won't turn on. And I saw that for some short period of time, just after I assembled the phone, it had WiFi. :-/
So, now I'm confused.
Is it possible to have software issue, or could it still be hardware?
How can I, anyway, check if everything works with hardware?
Btw. I'm still on stock unrooted ROM. (Wanted to see how it is to have a stable ROM after couple of years )

If anyone is interested how I saw the WiFi was on or how it shows now...

i'm 99 percent sure it's hardware. software is flashed into chips so that cannot be the issue. it's hard to find out yourself wich part is broken. the best thing you can do is send it to your seller or a near phone shop.
Did the screen flicker what so ever? This happen to me because the screen was not original and I end up sending it back to the seller. Where did you get your screen from? You might have broke something when assemble.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
wow! That's what I would call a well shattered screen.
I would suggest you to take it apart again if that's not too hard to do, blow the logic board in case some particles are rolling on it and reassemble it. It could do the trick eventually. Re-flashing stock Rom shouldn't be ignored. At least on a PC, a driver can get corrupted when a laptop falls.

I was thinking that too, but why it worked for some time then...
Maybe some of the connections are not connected well.
I'll try to see it one more time tomorrow...

I ordered my screen from vodafone repair service in Nürnberg, Germany and it came the day after. (It costs 140€, and if you want the repair too, then it's 199€. Not very happy about the price...) My replace screen is original from LG and works perfectly. I have to say- maybe even better than the old one. No flickering whatsoever. Backlight is also a bit better because it is equally divided over the screen. Plus, the bezels had new buttons on it, and now has smaller holes on the bottom and power button doesn't rattle any more. From the outside, only the back cover now has two small scratches. everything else is great.
I'm pretty much sure that something didn't connected correctly because sometimes bluetooth works. Tomorrow I'll disassemble it again and see.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Maybe its better to send it to lg for repairs? That's what I'm planning to do. I bought my replacement screen for 150 and it was just hell because so many issues. That's the same price for a repair by lg. Im going to sent it to lg soon but not yet because I been to lazy lol.

The service wanted to charge me almost 60€ more for their work, plus they said that they would most probably reflash the ROM and I would lose all my data...
And I only wanted to save my data. So, for me, this is the best solution.

Sounds like the antennas are not contacting properly. Seems it can happen to anyone upon removing the backplate.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I've just disassembled it and reassembled again. Everything looks good. All connections are good and nothing seems to be loose.
I even tried to press the back panel around the camera lens to make a better contact with the antenna, but still nothing.
Looks like this in the WiFi settings...
So, actually, I think it's a software problem and am going to root it now and flash the new ROM.
After that we'll see.
If there isn't any success after that, you all know where to find spare parts for your Nexus 5.

I just finished reflashing the stock ROM and it seems like it wasn't a software issue... after selecting the language it says "Turning Wi-Fi on..." and it doesn't do anything...
More suggestions?

i did a factory reset and still the problem persist.. isn't it considered as a defect ??
It's clearly a software issue. Reflash might help.

thanks for all the help! :good:
Very strange, a hardware issue which temporarily disappears when you reboot. Oh well, luckily it's fixed now.

I had prepared for two days waiting
but he had few repairable handsets and components in hand ready and pulled out one and repaired to mine instantly..
Hi, my Nexus 5 is rooted and was on cyanogenmod. That worked for over 2 months now.
But today it suddely shut down and started rebooting. I was able to rebbot it after 10 bootloops. Then it shutdown again half an hour later.
Now it is crashing at the bootloder "Google" logo and starts then rebooting. Sometimes it goes to the bootanimation. And when I try to access the bootloader it instantly selects boot system.
I think my power button is stuck, how can I fix it?
Can you rma the device? That would be your first option. If you can't take it to a cell repair shop. It shouldn't cost too much. Like US$35

If you have warranty through Google they're pretty cool about unlocked bootloaders and custom roms if it's a hardware issue.
