[Q] nexus 5 charging slowly ! - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA guy's !
I have a problem with my nexus 5 from few weeks that's when I charge it from 1% - 100% , it takes ( 2:40 - 3:30 ) hours
I charge it by the original charger
I think there are many people have the same problem !!
I think new update 4.4.4 is the problem !
Cause I didn't meet this before !
what is the solutions to fix the problem ?

solution? get a new charger or usb chord, as one of them is defective. and there are many with the same problem, until they replace their chargers/chords. no, its not 444.

When you are charging the phone does it show Charging (AC) or Charging (USB) in the power menu (tap on the battery in the quick settings pulldown)?

If you're looking for a cheap charger, check http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo.../hands-best-fastest-cheapest-nexus-5-t2729066
Charges way faster than the stock N5 charger.

Good news today
I used Samsung galaxy note 2 USB cable with nexus 5 charger it's doing well
It took 2 hours to charged 100% like before the problem

3 hours is not a problem.
If you don't have a nexus 5, you're in the wrong forum.

I bought it 3days ago. Before Nexus5 I had iPhone5 and it needed 2hours to 100%. That is strange to me.

Well, you may be able to get a faster charger but the key difference is the batteries. The iPhone 5 has a 1440mAh battery while the Nexus 5 has a 2300mAh battery. The Nexus 5 battery has more than 50% more capacity than the iPhone 5. So if the Nexus 5 is taking 50% longer to charge then it's charging at the same rate as your iPhone.

Check out some fast chargers. Some of them I can recommend.
Sony CP-AD2 USB 2.1 amp
ERD Mobile charger USB LP-27TC
Sony EP881 Quick Charger
Thread which shows nexus 5 fast charging works perfectly.

About chargers and battery durability

I have, like many of you, bought a Nexus 5. I didn't pay much attention to the problem with my former smartphone, and I'd like to do be sure this time.
So the charger that come with the Nexus5 delivers 1.2A, but I also have the charger from my Nexus 7 and I'm using it in my bedroom. The Nexus7 charger delivers 2.0A.
Do it will obviously be faster to charge the phone with the Nexus 7,but I'm concerned about the battery. Will it damaged it? Is it better to only use the Nexus5 charger?

Your battery will not be damaged. The phone will only accept as much of a charge as it can handle.
Thanks !

It's always good to hit the thanks button when helped.
You can use 2.3a maximum without any problem. A slow charge is better for night just to reduse the temperature of the battery... But is not a big problem.
Anyway mine original n5 charger is 1.3a and I found some problem with some cables. I use 3 different cables and not all of them charge the phone. All of them charge the nexus 7 2012 and Gs3
You've right, is 1,2a!

Z3 charger amperage?

Hi, I saw a review on the Z3 and they said the z3 has a 850mah charger? And it charges in 4 hours plus? Is it true? I am considering a Z3 and if its true, thats rly a con for me... Thanks in advance

stock charger is 1.5A
You can use other 2A or even Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 chargers to charge in a much shorter time.
My Z3 came with a 1500ma charger so doubt that figure is correct.
However, the 4 hour charging time sounds about right.

Ah I see. I am considering the Note 4 too. Guess the Note 4 will charge alot faster then hmm. The website says that the note 4 charges in arnd 1 hour 40 minutes due to that fast charger.
Is the Z3 compatible with quick charge 2.0? In theory every device with the snapdragon 800/801 is but my nexus 5 surely is not for example , have you guys tested it ?
According to Qualcomm it is:

Works. I'm using the Tenergy Turbo charger and the LED changes to indicate Quick Charge 2.0. Only works through USB though and not through the magnetic port.

Unfortunately no, and I'm not willing to run down my battery to test it. I can tell you that it charges amazingly quickly with the QC2.0 working.
Why you dont want to put your battery to 0%? Every month you should put your battery to 0% to calabrate it.

No, you shouldn't. Life of lithium batteries are shortened when they are brought all the way down to 0. Although minor, just not something I want to do. Plus, I don't want to not charge my phone for 2+ days

[Q] Rapid Charger 2.0

Does any one know if the charger come with the M9 is the Rapid Charger 2.0 or just a normal charger?
It comes with normal charger. Rapid charger 1.0. My m9 from 0-100% in two hours

Does anyone know if these chargers have any negative effect on the battery over time?
the iVoler car charger, I just bought this to try it cause the price was low and the reviews said it was quality made. This charger works exactly as promised. And the 6 foot USB cable is of good quality and really nice. It also fits into my m9 with a nice click, and fits well around my case. I will definitely buy more of these!

They will lead to battery at higher temp.
Mine Charges at approximately 2.5A I observed battery temp reach 43C before charging current was lowered until temperature came back down.
Likely to lead to slightly reduced lifespan .
No concern to me as I typically change phone every six months. Even to owners who change every two years it probably won't be noticeable. Good advice is to charge overnight with normal charger and use fast charger only when needed .

I have the original charger and the rapid charger from the nexus 6 and I can say the nexus 6 charger does charge my phone a lot faster than the HTC provided one.
I'm tempted by the rapid charger 2.0 but I'm not sure, because charging a battery more faster it reduces the battery life. What do you think?

I have the same charger but it doesn't charge any faster than the stock one.
Perhaps it's disabled in T-Mobile version?

Dang, that's fast. I don't really have a need for it to be that fast, since I sit at a desk and wirelessly charge all day, but that is great that that is an option

yes i am using oneplus one charger and also used other 2 amp chargers, but that doesn't help me.

Charge time?

Can anyone confirm how quickly their phones charge? Using the stock charger that came in the box, I was getting an estimate of 3.5 hours until full from 29%. Granted the stock charger charges at 550mah. Has anyone tried a 2.1amp charger?
On my old nexus 6 fast charger it was 2 to 2.3 h/m
(edit) literally the only thing I hate about this phone is the charging. Going to just charge it at night I been tinkering with it to much.

What h/m stand for? Sorry if it's a silly question, I've just never seen this abbreviation used before when it comes to batteries.
I'm weird don't worry. Hour / minutes.
