Ok. So, Sprint is giving me the boot for excessive data usage (13 gig in November & over 20 gig in December) plus I'm roaming. The area I moved to isn't serviced by Sprint. So, I was double time slapped on the hand. I know Straight Talk uses Verizon..aka CDMA. So, I was wondering if anyone had a tutorial or knew if it was possible to flash my phone to work with StraightTalk. Thanks!
im working on this too
i will keep you updated as i research, do you have the cdma workshop software or something compatible, i know little of this, and is your evo unlocked at the moment, you need to find the compatible prl file for straight talk, these guys in here are adept at this stuff, i will dig around and repost what i find in here
cdma workshop software is the best so i know
Straight Talk CDMA
So anybody got any info of this or hows is it going, if it did work would I have 3g speeds and what would be the download limit before they cut me off every month I use around 3 to 6 gigs a month on Sprint. Thanks for any all info.
straight talk is capped at 5 gb a month

It's not a cap. They harass you if you go over 5gb.

I need some help regarding data speed on my Sensation. I only get about 85 kbps download at my home. I have all 4 Bars and 4G logo all the time. But somehow I never get above 85 kbps. I have try all possible fix I could found on XDA (Thanks XDA) , like removing Plastic case I am using toggling ciphering, which seems to help lot of people here , but no go for me .
I have been in contact with TMO from last 3 days regarding this. i used my land line to call TMO so we can troubleshoot the issue on Sensation. Very first time I called TMO , She have me remove the battery and SIM card form the phone. At the same time she setup something in her system and asked me to put SIM, battery back and turn on the phone. When I turn on the phone again, I got amazing 3Mbps speed (at Home). I thought speed problem got resolved. But next morning it went back to 85 kbps.
I called 2nd time yesterday, this time I was on the phone for like 45 min, first she checked my data plan(I have unlimited data), the we checked on SIM card (I am using New SIM came with the Phone) but nothing worked. The she wrote a ticket for technician to go and check tower. She promised to call me next day. I also told her that previous Rep did something in TMO system which got me 3 Mbps speed. she told me that Previous rep must have fixed my Phone to a single Tower and when i left the area Phone lost the connection and picked up the nearest tower to my home. (useless solution)
Today I did not see any speed improvement, When TMO rep called I told her no Improvement and I am still on same Slow 85kbps (with 4 bars and 4G). she will have technician go one more time tomorrow and have technician call me directly.
This is so frustrating, I am tired of this thing. I like the sensation but lousy data speed is spoiling the fun. I am seriously considering leaving TMO.
Any thoughts ??

Both GSM/WCDMA. I did checked before i called TMO
Thanks
Have you tried selecting wcdma only? I am not sure if that will work or not but worth a shot. It kinda sounds like the network has your account/phone throttled as that is right around the speeds I get when I am. Keep calling tmobile, I know its a pain in the a$$ but it sounds like a problem on thier side. When I had a problem last week (no 4g service at all in my house) they tried to tell me I was not in a 4g area. I had to call back to get a different rep because the previous one just wasn't listening to what I was saying. They ended up having the completely wrong address that had them looking at towers 5 hrs away from me.

HI
I did tried WCDMA only mode, No Signal both (Phone and data)at all when i use WCDMA. so thats not gonna work. well i am waiting for TMO to call me back today.
Thanks
I have the same problem here in Stockton Ca. The rep at tmo never got back to me after 1 week so i called back. Rep oppened another ticket and promised to get back to me within a couple of days... No call after 1 week. When I called the third time complaining they said they didn't call me back because the slow data was a software issue and had nothing to do with T-Mobile, so I should wait for an update from HTC. Then after mentioning I was thinking of switching to Verizon they switched me over to customer loyalty, who immediately offered to cancel my account for me. Where is this great customer service I hear about?

When i call TMO, I always ask the person for his/her Rep ID #. this way i have something with me to follow up later. and if they open a trouble ticket, i also ask for Ticket #. thats how i was able to get TMO rep called me back to update me on my data Problem
i live in an LTE area, when i got my skyrocket and on all my cm9 rom experiences i was getting 20+mb/s all the time. im on the latest modem (uclf6) and a very recent version of paranoid android using instagatorX's kernel (v6.3.6) and i cannot figure out whats going on but i have done research for weeks and nothing is working, tried every version of the PTA apn, no results everything just gives me the same .5 mb/s result on speed test.net's app. called AT&T and they confirmed there are no tower issues in my area and my account is indeed verified to have LTE enabled and im not being throttled according to them but i cannot get ANYTHING over .5 mb/s no matter what, ive registered on the network countless times, i get full reception, the speed tests start by showing like 2.5 mb/s and immediately drop to .5 mb/s and sit there.. ive run out of options completely, researched every little thing that changes with the changes of apn settings, the only thing i havent tested is older modems but if anyone has any information that might be helpful i would be very appreciative, i just want my super fast LTE 4g back :/
I know they said you aren't being throttled, but it sounds like you are! When does your billing cycle end? Soon? try it after that.

that makes sense to try, but its been constantly .5 mb/s for 2 billing cycles now :/
okay, figured it out, called at&t (again) and talked to someone that was of more help, the first call i made to them told me i *wasnt* being throttled for some reason i cannot figure out honestly, the call i just made to the same number gave me the information that in my area at&t's throttling policy for unlimited data plans that are still around is 3gb and you get throttled, so i asked for my data usage, and i had gone through 12 gb i figured out this problem and it was exactly what my (and the post-ee above's) first guess was, i was just fed faulty information by the first customer service call i made, sorry for any confusion

Yeah, glad you found out. I had a strong feeling you were throttled.

So, the issue I can't seem to wrap my head around is the fact that my data speeds on straight talk (verizon towers) are about the speeds of being throttled. Slightly better, and I mean a very miniscule slight. My MBPS is around .46 download, and 1.00 or less upload. But I see people testing their straight talk speed for verizon at at least 5-10 MBPS download and 5 upload. I've managed to bring my ping down by adjusting my apn to actually use servers in my state. So now it's around 60 instead of 200. But my download and upload are still completely unreal. My service is usually 2-4 bars. But signal has no effect on my speeds. I'm just trying to find some way to fix this it's been like 4 months and I'm still using straight talk. Wondering why I am.. any insight would be appreciated. And I apologize for posting in terms wrong place if I have and also if this doesn't meet guidelines my first post and it's asking for help more than giving help but maybe the thread could provide help to others who have this issue.
Android Version 5.0.2
Same issues but I have a Galaxy Sky Pro J7
Please someone help. Same issues and 7 calls to straight talk with no solutions!
I noticed that the data speeds on my OP6 have become increasingly slow, especially so over the last couple weeks on my OP6. Tonight, I'm posting this from a desktop because my OP6 is unusable without wifi, unable to do even google searches without extremely long wait times.
I'm getting between 5kbps and 50kbps (in small bursts). Am I being throttled?

Have you asked T-mobile? Possibly your plan mandates throttling speed after using certain amount of data, even on "unlimited" data plan. I don't use much data, may be 6-8gb per month and have not noticed reduced speed in the DC area.

I'm on the prepaid 10 gb plan. I've used no where near that limit, but recently had to get a new SIM card to get a lower rate for the exact same service. That is when I really started to notice. I'll call them.

So far, not so good. Two calls in, one online support ticket unanswered.
I cannot access my account online either. Was told I would need to use a NEW EMAIL address to access it due to the difference between the "legacy system" and the new "rebellion" plans. Unreal. I refused and let them know they need to fix it. I'm not using a different email for T mobile compared to the hundreds of other accounts and services on my main personal email.
Also, speeds are still slow. I got a whopping 9mbps download on one speed test, 10 mbps upload. But since then, speeds have been lower then 5mpbs in either direction. Tried across a variety of tests like speedtest.net, dslreports.com, and fast.com
The second support guy said they refreshed my number's signal and I turned the phone off for a little over 5 minutes while they did this as instructed. Turn it back on, no difference yet.
They will call me back in 2 hours (like they said they would do yesterday when I did the same thing as above - never got a callback.) Here's hoping. Support is based somewhere offshore like the Philippines. Hard to understand them.
If they don't call back or if I don't see improvements later today, I'll consider this strike two - and go to a store to voice my concerns. If the store cannot fix it, I'm going to AT&T once my month of prepay expires on the 28th and stop my autopayment. Maybe I'll just sell this thing and get a OP7 or OP7 pro and move back to Verizon if I have to. I'd hate to do that - but I effectively have a paperweight when not on wifi.
Try plugging your SIM into another phone, or try using a friend's SIM in yours. You will be able to tell pretty fast if it is your network carriers fault or your phone's fault.
Just to test, I swapped sim from my wife's phone who is on mint mobile (pre paid mvno of t-mobile). I got true LTE speed (around 16 mbps) which is comparable to my own t-mobile sim. IMO, it's not pre paid or post paid issue. Like suggested in above post, try another sim card. There is a remote possibility that you got an old 3G sim pre paid card. I hope you get it sorted out soon.

I'm going to a store to get a new SIM. I chatted with someone at Tmobile's T-Force (US based social media support) and they think it could also be a SIM issue, and that I'm not being deprioritized as far as they can tell.
Got a new SIM. Instantly got full LTE speeds in the store. Of course, the instant I got home, speeds dropped. It must be a combination of the old SIM, my location, or something else. I give up. I never use LTE at home or work, so it will really depend on where I am. If it keeps staying this slow when I'm out - I think I'll go to AT&T prepaid for a couple months and see how that network is around me.
I went around to a few places tonight and it was night and day compared to my home/work. Getting speeds that are very fast - nearly 100mbps down in one test. I never saw those speeds before, so the new SIM really helped. Still slow at home/work - but those locations have never given me the best speeds, so I'll rely on wifi there anyhow.
Consider this solved. If you have the same issue - get a new SIM.
