okay guys so I just switched over from the Galaxy S to the S2, Skyrocket LTE
I had full reception at my house with the Captivate....Now, with the skyrocket I still have full reception....but with a catch
I'll have full service...then all of the sudden it will drop to 1 bar and be unable to send any texts. (Message not sent error). Then, like 45 seconds later it will turn back up to 5 bars and ill get texts.
the time that its off and on seems to be consistently repeating and switching back and forth between 45 second intervals. Also, sometimes ill get all my texts together (9 unread) out of nowhere with time stamps from 5-12 minutes ago.
I'm running STOCK everything:
Android version 2.3.5
Baseband: I727UCKJ2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.11
I wanna root my phone but I wanna make suree there isnt a problem with it.
I think its also important to note that this problem is ONLY in my house and around my house. not anywhere else.
Any ideas on what could be causing this, or any solutions? anyone else have the same problem?
I'd recommend reporting your thread via the upper right link to have this moved, you got it posted in the wrong phone section. I'd try to take a stab at helping ya but honestly it would just be a guess...
Thread moved from AT&T Galaxy S II forums to the Skyrocket Q&A forum...
anyone have any idea?

There have been some problems reported on the LTE network, but the biggest problem was/is.. people not being able to make calls when the network mode was set to lte auto. Depending on where you are, you might want to check the coverage map for your location... and call your carrier.

Thank you, do you have any links regarding the problems reported? I'm in LA, I dont think we have LTE here yet. Also the problems seem to happen only at my house, not even like 1 block down. I know I had full coverage here with no problems on my Captivate. It's just this phone, reception drops to 1 bar, then 5 .... like every 10 seconds, keeps going up and down, I gotta time when to send my texts so they go through lol.
I want to say lte is in testing for la. That could definitely cause issues if they are messing with the towers. The same thing happened to me while we were in Vegas...a few days later everything worked ...including LTE which Vegas previously did not have. Its also worth checking to make sure ATT has u on an LTE plan. Its been documented that if they have not done that it can cause some issues

the captivate is not a 4g or Lte phone...the phone is not trying to switch between 3g to 4g...i think thats the problem with your SII..trying to change from H+ to Lte without succes in an area doesnt have Lte
The only links that I have seen, are for rogers here in Canada.. don't know if that would be of any help to you? While my signal strength is all over the map, I have never had any problems making or receiving calls.

I went ahead and called. It seems the problem is, as everyone suspected, the phone trying to switch from H+ to LTE. the 4G logo seems to change from 4G to 4G (LTE) when it drops reception. Will rooting / roming help stop this? Are there any ways of turning off LTE until they get it fully working?
With regards to the quote above, I currently have Unlimited Data since i got grandfathered in. The guy at the ATT store told me I dont have to change my data plan and I'll keep my unlimited (so i did that). He gave me a new sim which he said "will help give you better reception". Will I still have issues because i dont have the new data plans? I want to keep my unlimited data.
**EDIT**
Just checked on ATTs website and I have "LTE UNL SMT VVMT" data plan.
Thanks in advance for all the feedback guys!
Also, I think its important to note that even if I connect to WiFi, the problem is still there, reception drops and goes up consistently. I've missed countless phone calls and have had to resend a vast amount of texts. I get all my texts together every 4-6 minutes. PLEASE help =/
Did you ever get this resolved. I have the same problem at my house, calls drop frequently and data seems to be not available at times.
Y did u resurrect this thread lol, a new post might have been better. None the less, try the telus KJ3 radio if u don't have LTE in your area, it has really good voice quality, and consistent data rates. If u do have LTE use the new UCLA3 one
Hi, I am new to the forums, and was directed here by a friend who works with roms. I have a Droid 3 running on Verizon networks, and I am tired of paying for a premium service that fails to deliver. My phone can be sitting on a table stationary and my signal will constantly bounce from 1x - 3g. for the most part it doesn't even get 3g. I am in New york, and the coverage is supposed to be excellent. It has been terrible for over 6moths now. My download speeds (as shown by speedtest.net) vary from 200kbps (as i write this) to 700kbps, with a 250+ ping. Something tells me Verizon is trying to force its customers to buy 4g phones and throttling those with 3g. Also, I am grandfathered into the unlimited data plan.
So, I am looking to terminate my contract with Verizon and switch to cricket. Cricket has better 3g coverage than Metro pcs from what I understand. However, I cannot find a recent guide for the Droid 3. I don't want to link offsite, but I have found guides from back in 2010. I have tried searching these forums and all I found was the jimmy guide for the evo.
Can anyone help me out with this? From what I am reading it can be done, but I am not familiar enough with this stuff to know if these guides will work for phones that have been updated to date like mine.
Phone info:
Android 2.3.4
Kernel 2.6.35.7
PRL 52522
System Version 5.7.906.XT862.en.US
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This the guide i used and it was easy http://www.cricketusers.com/verizon...a-droid-3-cricket-talk-text-mms-internet.html
i live in an LTE area, when i got my skyrocket and on all my cm9 rom experiences i was getting 20+mb/s all the time. im on the latest modem (uclf6) and a very recent version of paranoid android using instagatorX's kernel (v6.3.6) and i cannot figure out whats going on but i have done research for weeks and nothing is working, tried every version of the PTA apn, no results everything just gives me the same .5 mb/s result on speed test.net's app. called AT&T and they confirmed there are no tower issues in my area and my account is indeed verified to have LTE enabled and im not being throttled according to them but i cannot get ANYTHING over .5 mb/s no matter what, ive registered on the network countless times, i get full reception, the speed tests start by showing like 2.5 mb/s and immediately drop to .5 mb/s and sit there.. ive run out of options completely, researched every little thing that changes with the changes of apn settings, the only thing i havent tested is older modems but if anyone has any information that might be helpful i would be very appreciative, i just want my super fast LTE 4g back :/
I know they said you aren't being throttled, but it sounds like you are! When does your billing cycle end? Soon? try it after that.

that makes sense to try, but its been constantly .5 mb/s for 2 billing cycles now :/
okay, figured it out, called at&t (again) and talked to someone that was of more help, the first call i made to them told me i *wasnt* being throttled for some reason i cannot figure out honestly, the call i just made to the same number gave me the information that in my area at&t's throttling policy for unlimited data plans that are still around is 3gb and you get throttled, so i asked for my data usage, and i had gone through 12 gb i figured out this problem and it was exactly what my (and the post-ee above's) first guess was, i was just fed faulty information by the first customer service call i made, sorry for any confusion

Very frequently when I try to do download large-ish files (>10MB) when connected to LTE, the first few MB download very quickly (within a couple seconds) but then the download crawls to a halt (a few KB/s). At the same time, I can go start another download and it also begins to download quickly. And webpages remain snappy. So, it isn't that my connection has dropped.
The issue of downloads slowing to crawl affects downloads from the browser, the play store and other apps like pocketcast. So, it is not dependent on just one source.
I don't think it is an issue with writing to the sdcard or anything like that since the problem doesn't exist with WiFi.
I have T-Mobile in the East-Bay SF Bay Area. I am under my quota for the month.
Anyone else seeing this? Is it T-Mobile? Is it something with the Nexus 5?

Prepaid or Postpaid? Some users on HoFo are reporting that they're getting throttled on prepaid.

I am prepaid (with 5GB cap for 4G speeds - I am under this). I have heard of people being throttled after going over the cap, but I haven't heard of individual downloads being throttled after a few MB for people under the cap.
Do you have a link?
PM sent, as I am unsure if linking to other forums is allowed.
The gist of the conversation is that TMO may very well be throttling or placing prepaid customers behind postpaid ones via QoS.

Same here (t-mobile $30 per month prepaid) but actually it's worse then that. Run ookla speedtest around few different cell towers. I did this in different time of the day. What I found out is that download speed will show at around 10 to 25 mbps but I average 1 to 2 mbps regardless of cell tower or time of the day! It also seems that upload speed starts at 10mbps and after 1 -2 seconds will just stop, and then do like half mbps. 3G H+ does as usual, around 10mbps down 3mbps up. Sometime ookla speedtest will not be able to finish the test and report network problems. Something is not working right and I sure don't like it. Yesterday, while connected on LTE my music streaming got interrupted and buffered every 20 minutes, like I am on EDGE, LOL (no actually it's not funny at all). Hangout video chat on LTE unusually interrupted few times as well. I think I will return N5 and go back to my Gnex. In addition, I totally dislike LCD screen. Not only black is ugly bright gray, but on top of it - its blurry. I mean, reading small text is more difficult on N5 then on Gnex. BTW, did you guys figure that top left corner of your Nexus 5 is more bright then the rest of the screen? I so much wanted to like N5
I am also having same problem as thread starter. First few MB goes very fast then crawls to like 2G speed or less. Any way to get around this?
I have the exact same problem you describe on my N5 in San Francisco. Downloads start crazy fast around 20-30mbps then after about 10 second it slows down to a CRAWL. Like 2G speeds. But I'm on a postpaid family plan so it's not just prepaid. Does this not happen with other LTE phones on T-Mobile? I've found the only way to "kick" a download that has slowed down is to switch to Wi-Fi then back to 4G. Wonder if it's problem with the phone or T-Mobile... I have an unlimited plan so I shouldn't be getting throttled.
same exact problem. also happening in San Francisco. this is very frustrating but kind of good to know that it's not just me. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can provide some insight here =/
This is most definitely a T-Mobile issue, not a Nexus issue. Same thing happened with the Nexus 4. Unfortunately, TMO doesn't really want to help.
I'm having the exact same issues here. It's very annoying.

I'm postpaid on a grandfathered plan and had this happen on my previous Xperia Ion (TMO LTE). I could stream netflix over LTE for 1-3 minutes but then it would sit in buffering hell. I had absolutely 0 problems when I switched it to 3G. Streaming was never interrupted. Only with LTE, weird.

I'm in Chicago, and have noticed that I am barely averaging a single bar on LTE with my S6 edge, whereas my Nexus 5 was fine. I've read a couple of posts elsewhere complaining of similar issues on the Sprint site. Anyone else? Could this just be a firmware/radio problem? My PRL and profile are up to date.
I too am having troubles with my LTE signal on my edge. I also live in Chicago. I recently upgraded from an HTC one M8.
Same here switched from non spark s4 and notice slower speeds loading google maps and other apps

I'll try that on my phone, I am experiencing the same thing in Milwaukee
Im having issues as well this is really pissing me off its an $850 phone for God's sake.
I guess it depends a lot on area. I live in SoCal, north Orange County to be more specific, and my LTE performance is way better than my Sprint GS4 in terms of speed, coverage, and stability.

Each manufacturer uses the signal bars differently in terms of interpreting strength of signal. I would suggest downloading signal check pro and comparing.
That being said, the s6 is generally worse RF wise than the n5 and s5, which was known before hand. Not alot worse, but slightly. Typically about -5db

With my Sprint Galaxy S4 and Nexus 5 on AT&T, I never reached such speeds.
First run. Band 41 (Clearwire 2500 MHz).
I'm also getting 4G LTE in more places than before compared to the S4. For instance, I would always fall down to 3G inside a Costco in Garden Grove I go to. But yesterday, I was on Band 41 and the speed was good. Same for my front porch and inside my home - from 3G to 4G LTE on Band 41.
I don't know i try everything, reset the phone, clean cache, switch to lte/CDMA, updated prl and firmware, new provisioning, still lag in opening any data dependent app
Chicago area
No problems before on s3 s4 and s5 witch is also spark

Same issue here in Miami, well similar. Some apps on Sprints Network take forever to load data, keep in mind it's only Apps. Like Google Music, Facebook, Instagram and a couple more. If I connect to WiFi it all works fast and information loads immediately. Once again on Sprints Network it loads and loads and loads you get the point....
The only thing that solves this issue is connecting through a VPN. When i'm on sprints network and on VPN it all works as it should. WTF Sprint.
I am constantly moving between 1 bar with spark, and 3G. I ran the speed test and don't even get near 1mbps. Last week my Galaxy s4 was at least 10 times faster than my s6 edge. hoping for updates that fix this.

Same here in Austin. My wife and I were sitting in the waiting room at the vet so our dog could get his checkup. I was trying to download a book on the Kindle app and had only 1 bar. I ran the speedtest app and was lucky to get a download speed of 100k. My wife has Sprint's GS5 and was showing 4 bars with Spark and getting 10Mbps on the Speedtest app. I had her turn her hotspot on and I connected via wifi. Then I thought, why doesn't the vet's office offer wifi since there always seems to be people waiting. Of course, it really wouldn't be an issue if my expensive new GS6 Edge worked just as well as the GS5. I really hope an update comes out soon that fixes it. Also sad that it suffers from the same 'you can't do data and voice at the same time' issue that the GS5 had.
Returned mine two phones, couldn't stand it .Called sprint they waived restocking fee .
I think you guys should start calling them the guy from tech support said they not aware of the issue.

We finally got 4G LTE in Springfield, Illinois
my samsung galaxy s4 was working amazingly.
But now with this galaxy s6 edge I wait around longer than usual to load.
****ing sucks..
any ideas?
I usually check sensorly.com
My speeds are like a third of what they were with my s5
Frequently even less than that
Heck even texts take a long time to send
