Any Android apps to act ask a Answer machine rather than using my Providers service ? - General Questions and Answers

Does anyone know of a free app , that i can use that will take my voice messages for me , rather than using the one that Vodafone UK offer , i am on Pay as you go , they charge 35p for checking my voice mails , issue been , i need Vodafone , due to the poor signal from other providers in my area.
So a app that takes my messages for me would be ideal....oddly enough i have checked the google store for my android phone and can find nothing , i would of thought this would of been a fairly simple app and a good one for someone to of already written.!! I have tried to use a couple of them , but they tend not to work or have not been supported for a long time .

thank you, but sadly googlestore says it is not available in my country, that been the UK.
But oddly enough, searching for Youmail popped up a app called PF Voicemail plus
Which looks interesting, I can't test until tomorrow though, but looks to have potential

[Q]Voicemail App

Here in Holland we have to pay to listen to our voicemail messages.
I was wondering if there is an app that does the following:
Auto picksup after 15-20 secs, then plays a message + beep, and then records a message on your phone locally.
This would save me alot of cash.
So does anyone knows an app like this?
Thanks!
I have recently started using Tasker. It can completely (almost) automatically. It can auto answer calls, play files and record calls. It can be fiddly, but is powerful and should do what you want (and more).

Hmm, it's kind of pricy.
I would like to try if this program offers what I want before I pay this much for it

Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.
That blows, is your phone rooted?

But I need to connect it to an gmail account, I have one but I have set all language settings to Unitaded states and I still get the message "your country is not supported"
I understand, the only other app I can think of is YouMail.

This looks interesting but doesn't support BlackBerry which is what most of my contacts in Indonesia use.
Ok...what's the catch? This cannot be this good and save me money at the same time!
TextPlus is awesome!
Before I cancel my texting plan on two phones....can someone tell me something I need to know?
It's just too good to be true.
I tried to install it on my transformer via market and it says its not compatible with my country. I live in Canada so guess its a no go for us canucks

It's a free app so maybe you could try and sideload it? (get the apk.file, install with a file manager)

I managed to find it from another website, I have tried a couple versions now and did finally get one to work. Textplus does work pretty well, sent a few messages to my g/fs phone and back and no lag at all.

This is really cool, but is there a way that I can have something such as google voice mirror my personal number to my textab number? You know, so if say, my wife texts me to mycellphone, that my phone still recieves the message, but it is forwarded to my text apps' number on my tab?

This is exactly what I need. I use a flip phone for my beater, so it would be nice if the texts that come to it would also come to the TF so I can reply there when I am near wireless...

If your using CM9 or 10, this works great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823701
yes
I was sick and tired of trying to find a straight answer, and ended up buying one without knowing.
Here's your answer : YES
The samsung galaxy tab 7 plus (the version with 3g, NOT the wifi only version) can be used as a normal phone to make calls and send sms WITHOUT any additional software.

That's interesting. I wouldn't have thought so. I believe the other responses on this thread are about the wi-fi only version of the Tab. I know mine is. The OP didn't specify which version, leaving everyone free to make assumptions. :silly:

Google voice with lycamobile?

Is it possible to get google voice working with any other services besides the ones they have listed? I want to set it up with my lycamobile number. So is there a way to do this or is it not allowed unless they officially support it? I Google searched and all I could find was how to transfer your Google voice number but nothing about getting it working with other companies. Thanks

When I tried setting up google voice and texting and calling on my computer it said choose your carrier from a drop down list. The list only had certain big ones. Lycamobile wasn't on there but it supposedly runs on tmobiles network so do I just choose tmobil?

I never had to select a carrier but I set mine up a few years ago. Maybe things have changed. If your provider runs on T-Mobile network I would choose it

It didn't work. It says mmi something then error or something like that when I put in the activation code. It says prepaid T-Mobile plans not supported and my plan is prepaid so that might be the issue.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I don't understand what activation you are having to do. When I set mine up, I simply put in the number I wanted to verify from, what number would be used to forward to and that was it

Se situation
Abdel, I appear to be in the same situation as you. I am able to receive calls/texts using my Google Voice number, but I wasn't able to make calls using the number because Lycamobile isn't on the drop-down list on Google's "activate Google Voice on this phone" page. BUT then I just changed the setting in GV to "Making calls: Use Google Voice to make all calls" and it works perfectly, showing my GV number on phones I call and ringing my phone when people call my GV number. It even seems voicemails are handled by GV and not Lyca.

Correct, nothing else onthe computer. I'm using the GV app for all my text messages, not the normal Android texting app (soon to become Hangouts, methinks).

So I was able to get Google voice working by using groove IP lite. It uses my Google voice number. It doesn't even need the voice app installed. In just going to have that set as a sort of personal home phone. What sucks Is in may apparently Google won't allow those apps anymorw

[Q] AT&T G3 No visual voicemail/ other Apps

Hello, I just got my G3 from AT&T on Friday and I've noticed some issues with the Play store showing apps that should be available. The AT&T Visual Voicemail app says that its not compatible, but if I download the apk from XDA, it works fine. Also, I can't locate the Amazon app (Regular Store App, not App Store app). Its almost like the phone is not an AT&T phone. When I put Visual Voicemail in the Play store, it shows TMobiles VV and allows me to download and install it but not AT&T. Any suggestions?
mine had vvm preloaded on it. i'm not seeing amazon app either, maybe a compatibility thing for the screen res?
Just find the att vvm apk online and install it. Working fine on my g3.
Same with the Amazon app apk. Not to be confused with the Amazon app store apk
Sent from my G3!
This is because of our screens. The play store restricts what it shows you based on your screen size/resolution. I believe there's an xposed module that fixes this not sure though

A friend of mine actually found an older apk for Amazon and installed it. It works fine, but Google Play says it incompatible. To me, the mobile Amazon page is very similiar to the app.

I actually prefer the visual voicemail app that came preloaded on my G3. I had nothing but problems with the AT&T app on my M7 and had to switch to YouMail to maintain that functionality. The "stock" app is speedy and clean.

Is anyone else continuously prompted to enter their password before they can check visual voicemail and download the messages? Mine prompts me quite often, then gives me an 'cannot perform login due to error in connection' message.
