Here in Holland we have to pay to listen to our voicemail messages.
I was wondering if there is an app that does the following:
Auto picksup after 15-20 secs, then plays a message + beep, and then records a message on your phone locally.
This would save me alot of cash.
So does anyone knows an app like this?
Thanks!
I have recently started using Tasker. It can completely (almost) automatically. It can auto answer calls, play files and record calls. It can be fiddly, but is powerful and should do what you want (and more).

Hmm, it's kind of pricy.
I would like to try if this program offers what I want before I pay this much for it

Sounds great, but not available in my country yet
Google Voice is not available in your country.
Thanks for visiting Google Voice. We're not yet open for users outside the US, but are planning to expand our service to additional countries in the future.
That blows, is your phone rooted?

But I need to connect it to an gmail account, I have one but I have set all language settings to Unitaded states and I still get the message "your country is not supported"
I understand, the only other app I can think of is YouMail.

Nice find. Thanks for the hook up
It's pretty wizard. I especially like the one-tap into compose GV TXT.
Been running this for a couple of days and have loving the widget, it's the one thing GV was missing.

So my father and I both have tbolts and want to make video calls. We tried tango, but the sound quality just isnt there. What are you guys using?

I'm using the new Skype mobile that was posted in another thread and have used it with another TB as well as a computer. Other than my image being a little dark (but I was in a slightly low light room) I was very happy with it.
The skype app leaks all your personal data. They have been able to take cache forms from market which equals your credit card number

If you both have yahoo accounts, you can use the official Yahoo Messenger app. Along with the video-chat plugin app, you can make video calls with other yahoo users. It works well on my TBolt.

They're working on fixes that already, hopefully soon.
The app itself works great.
This does NOT effect the Verizon developed version:

Although unfortunate, it doesn't really matter if the Skype app leaks your data. It's only available through your phone, which is perfectly fine as long as you don't download random apps without understanding who made that app. I relate it to leaving all of your credit card statements and social security card on the kitchen table. As long as you don't invite random strangers in the house no one will see it anyway.
Is there an app that can text messages using my cell phone number for Amazon Kindle Fire?
If u have sprint and Google voice u can do it.

Desk sms

Desk sms doesn't really work that well bc it just gets sent to your email and what not.. I would personally recommend tablet talk. Just make sure both phone and tablet are on the same wifi, run the program and sync. I use it a lot when I'm away from my phone

Google voice on everything.
Desksms works perfect. It will notify via google voice. This allows you to send and receive texts anywhere you have access to google voice as if it were sent from your phone.

Any other alternatives besides Tablet Talk and Desk SMS?
is there something in particular desksms doesn't do for you?
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
It costs money.
Not in the Android Market??
mightytext new version might do the job
i've signed up for the mightytext web beta which supposedly works in any browser... current version works only on chrome extension, but their web version is in private beta. maybe u can ask the dev for invite?
It is in the market. And it cost what 5/year I think it was, to cover his server costs... hardly spend for a solid app that adds such versatility to your phone
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Desksms doesn't work. I don't see where to go with it. In fact, I don't think it can do any sms. Also google voice requires you to have the Kindle Fire to be able to hear your voice. That obviously do not work because the Fire doesn't have a mic.
I use it daily. It does work. And its the only solution I've seen for sending a text from another device that will appear to the recipient as though it came from your cell number which is what the original post specified.
You need google talk on your kindle and desksms on your phone. Set desksms to notify in google talk. You will then be able to send and receive texts in google talk. What its doing is forwarding and then sending from the phone. So your phone will need to be on and in service. This works for any device that has access to google talk
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Does anyone have any ideas regarding alternative applications (besides sms/texting) that require a phone number working on the Fire?
Someone said in a different thread that you could have Whatsapp working by doing a Titanium restore, but it received messages on the Fire or the phone at random.
I am using desksms and it works fine. I use mighty text from the market and it works very well on my laptop. Hopefully they develop it further for tablets.

Is it possible to get google voice working with any other services besides the ones they have listed? I want to set it up with my lycamobile number. So is there a way to do this or is it not allowed unless they officially support it? I Google searched and all I could find was how to transfer your Google voice number but nothing about getting it working with other companies. Thanks

When I tried setting up google voice and texting and calling on my computer it said choose your carrier from a drop down list. The list only had certain big ones. Lycamobile wasn't on there but it supposedly runs on tmobiles network so do I just choose tmobil?

I never had to select a carrier but I set mine up a few years ago. Maybe things have changed. If your provider runs on T-Mobile network I would choose it

It didn't work. It says mmi something then error or something like that when I put in the activation code. It says prepaid T-Mobile plans not supported and my plan is prepaid so that might be the issue.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I don't understand what activation you are having to do. When I set mine up, I simply put in the number I wanted to verify from, what number would be used to forward to and that was it

They must've changed it then. Or maybe it detected yours was already supported. I wanted to set up the voice mail feature but it said. Your carrier may not be supported. Set up from PC or something along those lines and have me a link.

Se situation
Abdel, I appear to be in the same situation as you. I am able to receive calls/texts using my Google Voice number, but I wasn't able to make calls using the number because Lycamobile isn't on the drop-down list on Google's "activate Google Voice on this phone" page. BUT then I just changed the setting in GV to "Making calls: Use Google Voice to make all calls" and it works perfectly, showing my GV number on phones I call and ringing my phone when people call my GV number. It even seems voicemails are handled by GV and not Lyca.

Correct, nothing else onthe computer. I'm using the GV app for all my text messages, not the normal Android texting app (soon to become Hangouts, methinks).
If this is working for you, hit the thanks button. I don't know much compared to some people here, so I'll take any boost to my thanks meter I can get.

Does anyone know of a free app , that i can use that will take my voice messages for me , rather than using the one that Vodafone UK offer , i am on Pay as you go , they charge 35p for checking my voice mails , issue been , i need Vodafone , due to the poor signal from other providers in my area.
So a app that takes my messages for me would be ideal....oddly enough i have checked the google store for my android phone and can find nothing , i would of thought this would of been a fairly simple app and a good one for someone to of already written.!! I have tried to use a couple of them , but they tend not to work or have not been supported for a long time .
