[GAME][UNITY3D][4.0+] THE GREATEST TOWER DEFENSE - Android Apps and Games

Dear XDA community,
I'm presenting to you my new project on which I have been working for several months using UNITY 3D Game Engine.
This game belongs to classic TD genre. You have four towers with different abilities to stop your enemies and lots of powers to use.
I haven't come with a good title yet (I'm excited about hearing your title propositions ). For now its in early alpha phase, contains many bugs, not the best performance, poor gameplay and some things hasn't been implemented yet, but you can play and test it today.
It is highly recommended to run this game on mid/high-end devices, with dual/quad core cpu.
Game uses about 400-500mb of ram so your phone should have 1GB of RAM (at least ~780mb).
I already tested it on Nexus 4, but I NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Feel free to share with me your thoughts about this game, any bugs, performance issues (please don't forget about posting your device model).
Furthermore, questions, opinions, suggestions, gameplay ideas are more than welcome
If you are more advanced user consider running this command in console(terminal/cmd/whatever): adb logcat -s Unity (if you have ADB). ADB logs in case of any errors maybe very helpful.
KNOWN BUGS / THINGS TO DO:
- levels difficulty is far from perfect
- upgrade screen UI is messed up on some resolutions
- only 7 levels for now (in final version there should be about 16 levels)
- only about 20-25 enemies, final version should have 10-15 more
- power upgrades don't work, upgrading a power won't have any effect
- virtual currencies don't work
- no description for power upgrades
- performance... (not sure how much I can do about it, but I will be trying)
- characters don't have any shadows
- not enough sounds, some characters are completely silent
- 6th level(scene) is not working well, so just tap "quick win" button in order to unlock next level.
I would be happy to place some of you in credits section of my game for helping me with this project

Try MEGA mirror.

Shoot, can't play. Nexus 5, Mahdi ROM. I keep getting "Unfortunately Tower Defense has stopped" in the opening tutorial when trying to set up the archer tower. I'll edit with logcat in like an hour or so.

Suggested title: Tower of Power

Thanks for logs.
For now you can try to skip tutorial. Go to upgrades, than tap 'back' -> 'play' -> go to first level -> If something won't work (probably because of unfinished tutorial) tap on 'quick win' button and go to next level. See if you are still getting activity has stopped error.
Thanks for logs.

Ok, I'll try to fix this issue asap. Unfortunetly I can't reproduce this FC on my nexus 4.

Anything useful in the log I sent or not really? I took a look at the code, but I'm not a developer. I couldn't spot any obvious errors, but even if I could I wouldn't know what they mean

I saw sigsegv error which means that I'm referencing to null.

Lastly, while being in start screen you can try tapping on center of the screen (somewhere behind 'welcome...' popup there is active start button) and go directly to the map.
Let me know if you manage to do this or if you encounter any error.

only black screen right now before going on selecting stages.
as you said i pressed in center of the screen and selected first map.
In maps zooming and navigation is not so good but good for beta.
difficulty is moderate not so hard.
finding our archers and other players is hard.
I think give preview of map so that we can decide where to put archers and barrecks and mages and cannons.
Half time i was confused where did i put my soldiers lol
but great game.
depth is great and powers are good i use it quite often.
I could upgrade all soldiers/weapons to full all time with money i was earning.
Didnt play much after that.
I will review again soon.:good::good::good:
Nice job. Keep it up.

Very nice game. It runs smooth on my HD2. You may want to put up a screenshot or two and give a little description of what the game is.
I made an article for it, which will go live soon. This should provide you with enough feedback.

I have only compiled against 2.0 for now (and as a result there are some incompatibilities). In the future I will get around to making it work for 1.5+. This would also be why it didn't show up in the market for you, sorry.

This would be due to me catching and ignoring all back presses . The reason I do this awful thing, is that if you go back from the menus, it will go back to the game, which has finished, and crash the app. (The game itself happens in a separate activity). If anyone can give me a tip on how to avoid this that'd be grand...
Looks fun, I have a Galaxy S so look forward to it's support.
Any chance of helping me debug? I don't know anyone personally with a Galaxy S, so it's going to be impossible to fix otherwise!

I could yes. Right now during the day I don't have a usb cable, but if I can do it all on the phone using terminal if needed that's fine. Later I could hook up if needed. PM me what you need. I'll download the app now.

[GAME] Navy Wars (now in the Market)

Hi everyone,
I've been working on a multiplayer game for a little while now and it's about to the point where I need to get some more people using it. It's called Navy Wars and it's a turn based game where you try to take out your opponents fleet.
Here are a few screen shots:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The game is a work in progress, so there will be bugs and there will be changes. It was developed on a Nexus S, a Nexus One and a Nook Color. It hasn't had much exposure on other devices yet, so this should be a good test. If you run into any crashes, please email as much detail as you can to [email protected] and also use the built in crash reporter being as detailed as you can be when submitting a report.
I think the game is pretty straight forward to play. If you register, post your username here so others can challenge you.
A few notes:
Just a heads up before you install the game, take note that it does use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data as well it can also send anonymous error reports to the server if an unexpected error occurs.
Also, this being a beta, there will be a reset of stats before the game goes public.
The final version will have a few undecided limitations with the option of purchasing the full game.
The beta version requires permissions to access your logs in the case of a crash!
Where to download
Live in Android Market

Edit: The game requires at least Android 2.2

any issues yet?
This looks like Battleship. I'll try it out!
Mentioned some things in game chat, but another would be possibly some kind of fix so you can spin a ship if it's on the edge of the board.
My name is Boots in the game if anyone is looking for a match. I'll try and play as many games as I can

It is kind of funny that BootsSiR tried really hard not to mention that it's Battleship (well sort of).
You don't have to worry really, the game has never been properly patented (Hasbro own the board-game though).
Just Don't call it Battle Ships (Easy enough). Cool thing it's the same turn based style like words with friends and Wordfeud,
you are definitely onto something here, wish I could test and try it on my tablet (Honeycomb) but the link seems to be down .
EDIT: tried link via my 3G and it worked.
EDIT 2: Can't create Account. It doesn't matter what username I want to use, It's never available and won't let me
continue creating an account

Thanks for the testing. Getting lots of good bug reports
I gave this a try last night and played a game with Wayne.
Really liked the game and love the idea, I did however find some issues as I was playing.
One suggestion I would like to add is the ability to play against a computer if you are pressed for time or some place where you don't have good Wifi/Data coverage. I also noticed there is no way to disable to sounds, I generally like to do that on most games I play. I did figure out I could turn down the media volume but then need to remember to turn it back up later for anything that needs it.
I was playing this on my rooted HTC Legend running CM7. First thing I noticed was that when I was adding a friend to attack. The box for the name and buttons were being cut off, see screenshot attached.
The other thing I noticed was that it didn't show me the 'Enemy Accuracy' / 'Fleet Strength' / 'Accuracy' / 'Hits' levels for some reason.
Other than that it was really good and I enjoyed it. Going to try playing some more to identify issues.

There is an options screen in the works to control volume/notifications. I'll have to look into why the buttons are cut off on that screen like that. Single player will also come in a future version! I appreciate the feedback!

I have a question that is more technical. How did you decide to implement the multiplayer? I am researching the best way to implement turn based multiplayer for my game and any help would be appreciated

[FREE][GAME][Brain & Puzzle][2.2+] Pick Lock FREE
Hi guys,
Here is my new brain game Pick Lock.
Google Play link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.co.uk.dotstudio.PickLockFREE
The goal of this game is to match the target pattern using two actions - translation and rotation. The levels are generated randomly, so the player will face different challenges every time the game is started. The player needs to think ahead like in a game of chess. There is always a 'Key' button available, which shows a possible solution. Please read the 'Rules'. If the players hit wrong button there is an 'Undo' button, which goes one move back, and 'Init' button that clears the board. The 'Key' button is available only when the board is clear. The game features an original background music composed by Yordan Velichkov. The game does not have any competitive goals, but offers a relaxing atmosphere for players that want to exercise their minds. The free version features 30 levels with solutions starting from 1 to 4 moves.
Online web version of the game:

This app is looking great but isn't the logic behind the game too simple ?
hi man,
thanks for feedback. yes the logic is simple in terms of user input. the resulted combinations are hundreds of thousands and that feature pleases me - simple input with complex results.
New update (1.0.2) is available now. The rules are described better, as suggested.
guys, are the levels too easy or too difficult? i was thinking about unlocking the moderate difficulty button and present 30 more random levels with 5 moves solutions.
downloaded the game and played a bit. lots of fun!
Hi guys,
I just decided to unlock all levels of the game and released version 1.0.3. Now 90 levels that are generated randomly every time you start the game are available. I hope that will bring more fun and downloads.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Love this game
Hi @dotstudio,
First impression - I love this game.
It's pretty, and clever.
The 1st few levels look too easy, but then when I tried medium I was confused by the puzzle...
So I went back to the beginning, and started moving through the levels quicker.
After finding that the 1st concept is introduced really slowly, I'm enjoying the way new concepts are introduced after that.
Totally love this game. :cyclops:
Thanks for giving it to us
Thanks @Hotfingers,
I was thinking of a reward system, where the user will have 1 key at the begining which can be used once to reveal a solution of one level and then will disappear. A new key will be obtained if the user solves a level with the exact or less number of moves the solution requires. So one can obtain 90 keys for all levels + 1 key that is given initially for total of 91 keys max. Of course that means that I need to also keep score and introduce some competitive goals...
Btw, thanks XDAdevelopers for the review of my game!!!
The game sound like fun but unfortunatley it does not work on my OneX with CM10.
I get to the loading screen but the the app closes down.
Graphic is incredible! Great work!
@Geggan I hope i will have more experience in the future to solve that kind of issues. If you still want to try the game it has a web version http://www.dotstudio.co.uk/game/
The graphics is amazing!
Really a great game! I like it! If the game would remember the last level I played it would be perfect.

Hi alexx,
Also running CM10 and the app works OK. I think it depends on your handset.
The few CM10 versions I know are still "under development" - so maybe you can hold out a bit until yours gets a bit more stable..?
(I know CM10 is so fast compared to CM9 that no-one wants to go back after tasting 10)
Also you can try different kernels to see which ones make your phone more stable..?
Finally you can ask your CM10 team if they will test this app for you to see what's going wrong. If your CM10 is still under development this should not upset the team too much.
good luck

I still dont have the experience to give any advise on that issue. Since you are the second one that reports issues with CM10 I guess I have to put that in the app description.

[GAME][2.2+] Pipix – free puzzle game (multiplayer supported)

Pipix is a small puzzle game I have done. It’s a combination of the two classic games Tetris and Plumber. It’s doesn’t contains any ads and is completely free.
The game has Google Play Games integration, which in practicable means that is has support for global leaderboards, achievements, multiplayer etc. Currently the leaderboards are a bit empty; if more joins it will make me happy .
The game is available at Google Play. I hope someone enjoys this. Let me know what you think about it.
Nobody tried this?
Before I made my latest release I have a small numbers of downloads every day, but now it’s almost zero . Has anyone expired the same?
Link may help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pekspro.games.pipix
Cool & new type of game and nice UI  (as i dont use google service i cant join leaderboard )
im just missing a pause button /edit ok its there but when i go back (press back button) it directly goes to shutdown dialog instead of pause. (Galaxy S2 / AOSP 4.2.2 SlimRom / Dorimanx Kernel)

its nice game!
:good: i try it, not bad realisation. good time killer. apparently little views because of the fact that there is no direct link to the game and all too lazy to look for it in the search.
seem ervingeg
Thanks, I’m very glad a few like it . I just tried to make a descent game so if you think this is a “good time killer” I’m quite proud .
Currently I’m not allowed to post links, I'm quite new to this forum, but I will be better prepared next time. So thanks for posting a link for me .
Regarding the pause button, you could trigger the game by pressing the upper “blue box” (where score/level is) in the game. I totally understand that this is a bit obscure and maybe awkward, but I didn’t have a better idea when I developed the game . You could press the home key, this will also pause the game so you could continue later (several days later if you want to).

Thanks again for your feedback

I only got to play twice so far, so if this feature exists and I'm just an idiot please excuse me.
Is there any way possible to have a save state feature added? There are times when I'd like to play but have to take breaks (i.e., mother nature, screaming kids, boss walks in the room etc.). If so, thanks!

Ok thanks for info - but i would suggest to pause with "back" - button (one hit) and exit (two hits), if its possible.

Ah I should've been more specific. If the app is killed by governor or you reboot your device you lose your progress.

Aha, that’s an interesting point. If the OS decides to kill the process to release some memory, it should be restored properly when you start the game again. But maybe that’s not what you mean with “killed by governor”? Is this like when you kill the application manually (cause then it will not restored)? This is something that could be solved but I’m not sure I will add it .

Oh! You are absolutely right! Why didn’t I design it like that ? It should be a really small change to do; I will include this in next release. I’m feeling a bit embarrassed cause I haven’t been happy how the back key currently works, it’s has felt “wrong” but haven’t been able to figure out what it was .
Not bad, cool background! Tested on LG P970.

Thank you for sharing the game. Would you please add the apk to the first post so that people without access to the Play Store can download it as well? Thank you.

Thanks. I have now added a direct download for the APK to the original post as well.

Thank you. I have been playing it a bit and I gotta say it is quite good. The only thing I would add would be an option to retry the level regardless of outcome. There are people out there who don't like anything less than 3 stars
It will be featured in the portal soon

It's so damn addictive! Good job
Evil! just Evil!
Very nice and addictive game!
Just a few remarks:
- I don't see the purpose of the "Exit" item on the main screen. Is this a porting from an iOS version?
- You should remove the black menu bar shown on devices without a physical menu button
It's a clone of one of my friend's iphone games, but for android:

very nice game :good:
Super game, how would you feel about it being included in a rom? and is there a donate version to remove the ads?

I'm one of those sickos who keeps trying for the 3 stars, so I would agree. I would also like the ability to pay you a few dollars to remove the ads.
One other suggestion might be another way to indicate the goal/target without having to tap the screen to start the level (maybe something in the header).

Heh... levels 6 and 16 are the bane of my existence at this point (both of them on 2 stars and everything else on 3).
One last suggestion to add even more realistic physics to this... make the balls solid so that they can collide against each other instead of going through like ghosts. Collisions would add a huge amount of entropy in the system which will make it even better imho.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a rom. Do you mean being packaged with other games and offered as a download? If that is what you mean, I don't mind at all, feel free to upload it.
There isn't currently an ad-free version but it's something I am looking in to. I've never released a paid app before so I need to get up to speed on how to go about it but I will post back here when it is available.

Sorry about that, I have edited the thread title so it is no longer misleading. I had to upgrade the android version because it was taking a long time (up to 10 seconds on older phones) for the app to reload after switching to another app or homescreen and then back to my app (during this time there was only a black screen). The only resolution I could find was to preserve the OpenGL context which I think is only available on 3.0+.

In terms of how many dots you need to complete the level, this is displayed on the top left of the screen, how many dots you currently have made react is displayed on the top right. Although for an explanation of what the exact aim is (each stage has slightly different gameplay) it is true you can't see this after the level has started. In a future update, I might show more detail about the current level on the pause screen, which would help, I think.

That's an interesting idea. I'll try and see if I can implement this and see what effect it has on the game. I think it would add quite a lot more realism. Thanks!
The game is very good. Here are the few problems/ideas:
Turning the screen off hangs the game. To unfreeze it I have to minimize it and then switch back to it.
There is no "retry" option if I get 2 or 3 stars, though it would be much more useful than "back".
It would be nice to swipe areas instead of clicking "Next".

Hmm, the freezing issue has me slightly baffled. Have you tried waiting a short time to see if the game might be loading in the background? I have had issues with the app being minimised and loaded again in the past (although I thought I had fixed it before release) so I will see if I can recreate this bug.
I agree with the retry button for those rating-addicts so this will be coming in the next update.
Thanks for the feedback
