Does anyone else notice a faint clicking sound when you touch your screen? It almost sounds like a tiny static charge. It doesn't happen when the screen is off and it doesn't happen when using the stock keyboard but it happens pretty much any other time I touch the screen. I can only hear it in a very quiet environment I'm using a Skinomi glass screen protector but don't remember if it did it before it was installed.

It under sounds called "touch sound"

It's exactly what runandhide05 said.
I wonder if there's a way to change this tone to a different sound?
If your rooted it's the
Effect_Tick.ogg
In /system/media/audio/ui
I normally change mine to a more aosp sound in the past because of the god awful Samsung touchwiz UI sounds but htc seems to have a less annoying sound for touch effect

That was it. Kind of an odd sound. Thanks for the help!
I'm having some weird popping sounds coming from my phone. I think its a hardware defect because during the boot animation I hear these strange popping sounds that aren't from the speaker. Just a second ago I heard this sound coming from my phone (not the speakers) that sounded like a click pendulum going side to side. I think I just got a screwed up phone

Yeah I had this too. I actually swapped my first m8 out. New one is fine. Many have had this issue. Hopefully there is nothing wrong with the glue that holds the screen and digitizer together.

I'm having very strange issues with my screen and would like to know if other people are experiencing the same with their Sensation.
When I press with 2 fingers slightly harder then I would normally touch on the screen, it looks like the screen consist of multiple 'layers' which stick together. When releasing my fingers it also sounds like a sticker is being peeled of a surface.
Next to this all I find the actual phone part fitting very loose in its "backcover".
Unfortunately HTC is close today and tomorrow, but as soon as I have been in contact with them I'll post an update.
Pretty sure that's the screen separated from the glass that people are talking about. It's the reason dust can get in there too from what I've read.
Yep, I've got it too. Getting my phone replaced.

The pressure thing or the loose fit?
Both, it seems.
yeah i have the same problem i dont know if i can get replacement cuz i buy my sensation from ebay
The screen issue is just the way its built, it happens on all of the Sensation's.

Yeah that's what I thought too, this phone is made that way. Just like the mytouch 4g screen.

I don't think HTC intended to build the screen with a defect. The same issue happened with the Nexus One with the bottom two corners of the touchscreen layer not sticking properly which resulted in dust getting in between the touchscreen and the amoled display.
What I mean is that it isn't a defect, that is just how its made.

Why would a screen be made to make noises when you press it hard?
No wonder why when I was playing with a Mytouch 4G demo the screen would press down like a resistive touchscreen. The layers in the screen is probably the reason for the dust entering, so expect similar dust issues like the Mytouch 4G.

It doesn't cause any problems and you have to really press hard to notice it, much harder than you ever normally would.
I imagine it has something to do with the contoured glass design, or it's a side effect of the manufacturing process.

As i said before, this sounds like a manufacturing defect similar to the Nexus One. There was a big debacle on the Google N1 forums with the initial batch of the phone due to the dust issues because the screen did not stick properly.
I would expect the similar issues with dust to appear on the Sensation which is really a shame. The N1 is now almost two years old and HTC has not learned on their mistakes yet?!
Well, no dust is under my screen as of yet and I can't see any reason that this would cause a problem. We'll see if more people have it.
I can't imagine HTC using such a bad screen design :S
I would assume off hand it is a defect.

Well the screen isn't designed to ever be pressed that hard. I can only replicate this is the middle of my screen, and I have to press uncomfortably hard for it to do it.
But what about the loose fit of the back cover? You guys feel the same? HTC is going to pickup my phone tomorrow and hopefully they won't ignore my complaints.
yes I have the loose back cover too. Has like a gap when pressed? Trying to get a exchange from Walmart but no more in stock.
I am waiting for mine to come in tomorrow, got it with overnight shipping from T-Mobile, but dickheads sent it out via UPS Ground, so tomorrow I should get it, I have the MT4G right now, and I only have dust in the front camera, nowhere in the screeen and I've been pressing everywhere and the screen seems solid on this one.
Ughhh, I really don't want to get a new phone and go through shipping in and out, if I get dust in the one I'm getting tomororw *knock on wood*
This feature will add up to wanting me buy sensation, aside from dust proof, and touch responsiveness issues (hope its software related not grounding stuff):
knowing that LED indicator is behind earpiece grill, can someone describe the visibility:
* looking straight on the phone?
* looking at 45 angle at 2 meter distance from different sides of the phone?
Straight at the phone u can see it, at 45, a half of the flash? Well, it's okay...

It's noticeable to me! That was a feature which is missing on the G2x that drove me crazy every "smartphone" should have a notification light!
Thanks a lot, LED visibility should be no issue now for me.
I will keep an eye on dust entering beneath the screen and swipe not responsive issue..
I wonder if dust already there since phone was bought or dust can enter..?
The latter is worst, it is a screen sealed issue..

There is no dust under my screen. There is no way that dust can enter screen after purchase so those who have dust under screen must of bought a bad phone.
Hey all,
I was just wondering how everyone puts their Nexus S' on a flat surface. Like a table.
The curved screen allows you to lie it face down, but then BLN becomes useless.
On the flipside (hah.), lying the phone on its back leaves the camera lens exposed. :S
just like normal , screen up and butt down ....
With a good case, any way you'd like
If I'm in the range that I can hear the ringtone, face down for a little louder ring.
If I'll go someplace else that I won't hear the ringtone, face up so I can see if BLN is active when I come back.

Same strategy for me. The Nexus S doesn't have a very loud speaker, sadly.
I put my phone on the table with the screen facing up. Never occurred to me about the camera thing but I don't really care. I've been placing it this way as long as I can remember and the camera is fine.
At first face down (contour display) but now face up almost all the time. I'm too used to putting it down like that.

Hm, interesting.
I'm being really OCD in that I feel like putting it face down will scuff the plastic bezel on the top and bottom. No way will make it completely safe! D:
I have a BestSkinsEver on mine, but it still doesn't really protect the camera.
It's either in my hand (most of the day) or in my pocket.
I balance mine on an edge.
Face down so I can hear my alarm.
My screen is a bit elevated close of sim card slot, they pass of the border of bezel, it's 'normal'?
I can feel the glass in this corner, different from all others corners.
Ty.
Glue, was the glue!
Heat and press the screen.
Tyvm ldriod!
I noticed this for the first time on mine yesterday.

I noticed this also...I have another P6800 and it wasn't as pronounced.
I applied some pressure to that side and it seemed to make some difference...

I applied too but they didn't lowered...and I don't have a Sim card inside...
The border is good to put they face down and don't scratch the screen, but with this protuberance this isn't good.
I thought mine was with issue.
Ty all!

Would you say this is a screen separation issue like with the nexus 7?
I've heard people try the clamping method where they clamp the elevated side then left some movie or app playing that heats up the unit so that the glue can re-flow...might try that.
Its near flat on my other unit, so this makes me wonder if this issue is on all units?

Wow it's true! Was the glue!!
I leave they inside the case and running NFSMW, they gone to 42c, I pressed the screen many times, while hot, and they gone down!!
When I pressed screen before heat, the screen make litle crack sounds, plastic sound, every time, now after head, they don't make sounds and the screen is perfect.
Tyvm!
Awesome!

I'm having this strange bug when I make a call then notification panel pulls itself down about half an inch. Then when I try and end the call the notification panel pulls completely down. I'm not sure if it's a proximity issue and my cheek is hitting hit or its a bug. Anyone else experience this?

most likely your cheek i have it happen sometimes on my note 3
Yeah but it just sits there a third of the way down. It's weird.

Albeit intermittently, I am experiencing this also. Are you using a tempered glass screen protector by any chance ? I am... and i am starting to wonder if it might be the cause.
