[FIXED] Screen & bezel - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My screen is a bit elevated close of sim card slot, they pass of the border of bezel, it's 'normal'?
I can feel the glass in this corner, different from all others corners.
Ty.
Glue, was the glue!
Heat and press the screen.
Tyvm ldriod!

I noticed this for the first time on mine yesterday.
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda app-developers app

I noticed this also...I have another P6800 and it wasn't as pronounced.
I applied some pressure to that side and it seemed to make some difference...

I applied too but they didn't lowered...and I don't have a Sim card inside...
The border is good to put they face down and don't scratch the screen, but with this protuberance this isn't good.
I thought mine was with issue.
Ty all!

Would you say this is a screen separation issue like with the nexus 7?
I've heard people try the clamping method where they clamp the elevated side then left some movie or app playing that heats up the unit so that the glue can re-flow...might try that.
Its near flat on my other unit, so this makes me wonder if this issue is on all units?

Wow it's true! Was the glue!!
I leave they inside the case and running NFSMW, they gone to 42c, I pressed the screen many times, while hot, and they gone down!!
When I pressed screen before heat, the screen make litle crack sounds, plastic sound, every time, now after head, they don't make sounds and the screen is perfect.
Tyvm!

Awesome!

Screen coating wears out fast, normal?

Was polishing the phone and noticed the screen coating is wearing out pretty fast, is this normal? I thought i took pretty good care of the phone, never put it in the same pocket with keys or coins.
Photo attached, had to breathe on the glass to make it visible.

.....what are you using to clean the phone?
please dont say windex, or anything that is in a liquid form
the screen has an oleophobic coating that helps reduce smudging, and by using any chemicals you'll rip it right off the screen.

if thats true, then take your phone back
holy crap, I was just looking at my phone today and noticed this as well (I noticed it this morning before I read the thread, not the other way around lol). But ya... only had it for a few days and I see some spots where the coating is coming off I think. If I run my fingernail over them I can feel a very very slight roughness... I'm quite unimpressed with this, as my Vibrant has been dropped many times and the screen has held up fine.
I'll try cleaning it a bit (I never use anything other than a microfiber cloth) and see if it helps out... if not maybe I'll exchange if more problems come up.
I just breathe out moist and wipe with clean cotton cloth. I think this is safe.
i hope this is only something on a few units.. pretty weird though never seen something like that before...
My God! I clean all my devices with a micro fibre cloth only and if that's enough to cause that, this thing will be going right back!
None of you are using screen protectors on top of the coating?

it does kinda look like when you get moisture under a screen protector
that sucks.....its a good idea to test your "coating" before 30 day return policy runs out !

Meaning what exactly? You would be happy for your screen coating to be easily removed with a wipe of a micro fibre cloth?

Good point ... only two posts from the OP and a strange silence following your question.
Yikes. Looks like I see this as well. 2 spots - lower left and lower right corners. No sp. Only cleaned a with a microfiber cloth a few times. Oddly the 2 spots are the 123 key and the enter key exactly. Seeing as how those are not the most often hit keys for me I wonder what is causing it to seemingly wear off.
Can we contact Samsung regarding this or is everything through best buy?

[Q] Pressing the Screen - LCD Distorts

Can anyone else press the screen semi hard with one finger and distort the LCD screen too?
I know it is not normal for anyone to be pressing that hard, but I just want to make sure I do not have a defect before my 14 days return window closes.
Thanks
ive done it before and that happens. It seems to have the same effect on all lcd/led screens with a bit of pressure. IMHO totally normal.

Thanks for the response. I know LCD screens do that, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't an issue with the glass flexing and pushing on the LCD screen.
So if yours is doing it, then I'm OK with mine doing it too. It's not like we are going to be pressing that hard anyway.
Thanks!
You do know the L in LCD means liquid? If you press hard on any LCD screen this will happen. you are displacing the liquid under the screen. You aren't hurting anything. It corrects itelf in a matter of seconds.
The xoom has a really thin glass panel, this is most likely the reason you can distort the liquid easily
How this distortion looks? It could help discern what type of LCD Xoom is using. (for example pressing my PVA screen show a dark smudge)
angry birds causes me to do this now and then!
I get white smudges. I thought that Gorilla glass would have less flex.
Does it look like this?
I returned mine, as the first one I have doesn't exhibit this. Yes, if you press if really hard, any LCD would show this, but this is barely a tap. I'm using my Wacom stylus here, but it's the same with just my finger. It's actually worst in person, but you can clearly see it happening on the video. And it's only on the right hand side of the screen also, so it's definitely a defect. On mine anyway.

Actually, if you look it up on youtube, there are some videos showing how tough it is that also show how surprisingly flexible it is. It's pretty impressive stuff.

Yeah...mine is mostly on the right side into the center. Center to the left, it gets really hard to do it.
it's easier on the right side than the left on mine too but i still kinda have to push a bit. if you push in on the back panel on the right side it does it too.

Factory screen protector verdict?

I know there people who removed the factory screen protector when the Triumph first came out and it helped screen responsiveness. I held off because I wanted to see if there would be any adverse side effects.
I know there have been reports that the screen is gorilla glass, but it seems odd that they would add a factory protector if it was. So those of you that removed the protector, does it seem as durable as gorilla glass? Any scratches?
I left mine on and it may have one very minor scratch in it. but I know in my mind I can always take it off and put a new one on and always have a pristine screen underneath. I have no problems with responsiveness other than the processor being busy doing something on occasion keeping the phone from responding but I have never seen a phone that doesn't do that.
I know this is only incidentally related to the topic but I kept my factory screen protector on and the only time I've ever had issues with screen responsiveness is scrolling the stock dock.
Which immediately disappears if I use a different launcher/dock like Launcher Pro or Go Launcher.
So for me the effort/risk of removing it wasn't worth it in my eyes.

Same with me mostly. I've had more responsive touch screens, but even with the screen protector, I would say this is well within acceptable limits for me.
My phone doesn't do that

I've had much improved responsiveness without the factory screen protector. No side effects . I had crappy responsiveness regardless of launcher with that thing on there... Might as well have used duct tape on the screen, Motorola!

I handed someone my phone to show them how awesome it was, and he was like, "Oh cool," grabs the tab of the protector, and takes it half-way off. Dirt got in there so I had to take it off. Long story short, responsiveness is still on the weak side, but could be attributed to the processor being busy as someone previously posted.

Um, unless I'm completely blind the factory protector doesn't have the pull tab, however the SHIPPING protector did... you were SUPPOSED to remove that one.
As to the factory protector, I'm leaving mine on. Only input lag I have is when I've got the phone heavily loaded down doing something which will happen on occasion, after all it's only a single core... even my Tegra 2 tablet will lag occasionally...
This is a video of removing the screen protector we're talking about.

Don't know if this is a dead horse or not but I just got through removing the cheap plastic screen protector on my and my wife's Triumph. I didn't use a razor blade like is shown on an youtube vid but I just kept working my finger nail along the edge of the glass until the protector started to come up and kept working my nail further under it until I could get a grip on it and start pulling it up. It's not that hard once you get an edge going. I think it made a big improvement on how sharp and colorful the screen is. I think it is more responsive also.

Back Cover issue

hi guys .i got this phone about 3 days ago and overall im amazed . gots all i need great speakers great display and great battery . im not a camera guy so camera iis fine for me 2 . such an amazing phone.
MY only issue :as i was holding my phone with one hand i noticed with my finger a soft spot in the back cover, in the ''idol'' logo to be accurate. so i pressed it and it made a clicky noise. like a clicker or something...that means that there is a noticable gap between the plastic cover and the battery ... the whole back cover seems solid but the spot that idol logo exists there is a gap... which worries me . has anyone noticed that ... if you havnt test this and info me plz . .. i wanna know so i can decide if i have to return the device for another one or not ,,ty in advance
edit: this was going me crazy so thought if i could press down some seconds the plastic could stick back again ... so i pressed down the idol logo for about half min ,, its seems more solid now the click sounds almost gone... so assume that was a glue problem,,,so if anyone has this kind of issue try to aply a power pressure for half secs its shoulb be good (for now)
The clicking noise you hear is just most likely the adhesive sticking and then peeling back off. The tape must've just peeled off in that one spot. Mine does not seem to do what you described so it's just a minor defect. You should get it replaced if it will bother you that much or just buy a hardshell case.

Question Screen pop/snap/tap sound

Took my 3 weeks old flip to get fixed because of the popping sound it made. When opened, just below the grease, on the right edge of the phone. When I slide my finger or press on the spot, it gives a pop sound (and feeling to the finger). You can feel the screen moving up and down and after you lift your finger, it pops off from the residue/glue under the display. It is like there is a tape that does not stick.
There is a reddit post about this so this is just an extra data about the defect, just in case if Samsung won't repair or something.
So, it would be nice to hear if someone else has this problem too. Thanks.
Mine just did it last night, it's on the right side too, where I've seen the others. I'm gonna do my best to ignore it lmao
My first unit had this problem too, it wouldn't lay completely flat when open either. I think the popping/screen detachment might be related to the hinges not opening fully cause whenever I'd force it open flat, the screen wouldn't pop anymore. In the end I returned it and my new one is perfect, no popping and it lays flat. If this is happening to yours, either return it or get it fixed.

Never realized it was supposed to lay completely flat. No popping, so I guess it doesn't matter.
I'm pretty sure the root of this issue is hinge unevenness(if that's a word) side-to-side, I put a spigen hinge film on the other day and it's very noticable in the indent across the middle of the film from the phone pinching against it. The side with the pop is closing further and pressing a groove into the film while the other side is a barely visible line. I'll try to post a pic later I traded in all of my old phones for this one lmao

Also mine went away today, screen 100% back to normal. I got my phone thoroughly wet in the shower today trying to get dust out of the edges, might be related might not. At any rate, good to know that it's not a big deal, if you have this issue it just might fix itself after a week
I have the same on mine. It only affects the lower left quadrant. Pretty annoying.
