[i9001][BASEBAND] NO MORE ODIN! Flashing baseband in recovery - Galaxy S Plus I9001 Android Development

DISCLAIMER: I'm not responsible for any damage to your phone, i tested all these files personally before uploading them and I don't have problems, but just in case you cannot blame me for any damage, no one forces you to mod your phone, if you don't want to risk don't do it
I'm here to give you a good news (even if it may be a little late since there will not be new baseband for our device)... I have found the way to flash the baseband in recovery, so from this moment our phone can be completely modded using only recovery mode
First of all I have to say thank you to @alireza7991 and @broodplank1337 because they were the first one to think it could be possible in this way. I have to say thank you to @Rhonin86 for testing help (he has a spare i9001 ) and to @adfree because he posted this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52944982&postcount=29
Here is a list of zip files containing basebands, I will update it from time to time
I9001XXKPO (last Italian and German stock firmware no brand)
I9001BUKP7 (last Italian and German stock Vodafone firmware
I9001XXKPM
I9001XXKPL
I9001XXKPF (Stock italian 2.3.5 firmware no brand)
I9001DDKP9 (Last Indian baseband)
I9001XXKG3
me and @Rhonin86 tested this, it works on all custom recoveries
Thanks to:
@alireza7991 and @broodplank1337 for the concept
@Rhonin86 for testing
@adfree for the partition layout and names

I can't provide all the basebands for our phone because on sammomibile there are some rom not available, and they are really a lot so if you want to test a baseband available here, and then have the possibility to come back on the one you are using now and it is not available here this is all what you need.
The backup script take a backup of the current baseband and put it in /sdcard/amss.bak
The restore script flashes the file /sdcard/amss.bak on you baseband, so it restores the backup
WARNING
Dont play with amss.bak file and be sure it is in its place before restoring it
Backup script: http://www.mediafire.com/download/9xdm5rfaoz4x0yd/Backup_Baseband-signed.zip
Restore script: http://www.mediafire.com/download/7tn3dzz2zy9malm/Restore_backup_baseband-signed.zip

I guess XXKPO is the newest one (it's the baseband I'm using right now)
In your personal experience which one is best for signal specially GPS usage?

i used the two uploaded ones and i think they are quite the same, i stucked with bukp7 because is the last i tried and being quite the same as kpo i did not want to use odin to change it, now i will gather some basebands and make flashable zips, so who wants can try easily

im using the KPO baseband , yesterday i flashed release 6 of the ADC's cyanogen team , i love it !!! fast & smooth with ZERO bugs, then i flashed the KPO baseband ...i dont know but i feel much more battery life ...due to the baseband or the new rom & kernet ???
Rom: AriesVE DevConnection Team CM 11.0 [ION+PMEM ADSP]
Kernel: K^Kernel 3.4.x OC/EXUV 366MB [ION+PMEM ADSP]
Recovery: Team Win Recovery Project v2.7.0
Baseband: XXKPO
Governor: smatassV2
I/O Scheduler: SIO
CPU Frequencies: 196 - 1665 MHz

Looks good! I'm now on KPM baseband (general Europe), because I'm from the Netherlands. Curious if the KPO baseband works in the Netherlands too!:laugh:
Edit: connection with provider established! Let's see what it's going to do over time!

Ok, because I had it once upon a time with a stock gingerbread rom that it had issues after flashing a new baseband via odin and it stabilized after wiping caches. But maybe it was coincidence.

Im using XXKPO for almost 2 years now, and never had any problems with it. The batterylife is great and i also have signal everywhere (provider: o² Germany)
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9001 mit Tapatalk 2

[Edit] Problem solved. You can ignore the following post. The camera is working with the XXKPO baseband!
----------
hello guys,
i flashed XXKPO in recovery. Since then my camera (aosp & google) can't safe photos anymore. The pictures are taken but not saved. It worked with XXKPK before,
I am using CM11-20140808-UNOFFICIAL-dev_connection_team_arievse
Things i tried:
1. factory reset
2. download baseband zip a second time, flash the new file
3. installing CM rom image again
Non of these efforts made a change.
I was thinking about formatting the internal sd-card, but i haven't done this yet, because i have no difficulties to write on this partition.
Does anyone have an idea, what caused this strange behavior?

Just wanted to know what will happen if I flash baseband/firware on custom rom? I mean from sammobile. Thanks

So.... Do you have any idea.... What will happen when I flash my phone with another firmware!?
I really need answer for that...
Thank you...
Which other firmware are you planning to flash. You can flash XXKPE then XXKPQ over your existing firmware. Most mods are based on XXKPQ so I would recommend that

If you flash with another update firmware that is exclusively for i9003 nothing will happen the only thing is that you will be updated.

I will notice if I start flashing
Waiting for another replay...
And thanks for replay ^^
Follow all instructions carefully and read up a lot on how to flash before flashing. As long as you do that, there really isn't much of a chance for you to hard brick your phone. Also, juz don't interior the flashing process

Yes like he said, xxkpq. But I don't see much of a difference other than having more custom roms. Its really up to you.

Baseband is related with modem and with the data transfer. For example i am from Argentina and has flashed XXXKPQ with the baseband of this ROM i have no coverga 3G/H only 2G cos this baseband works in 1900 frecuency and it isnt working in my location so i have to flash trougth odin baseband from LUBKB1 wich is for Argentina with works in frecuecy 950 and in this way I have covergage of 3G/H. I hope will be useful. And remember always flash firmware for i9003 or you will brick your phone.
sorry for my poor english.

As many users said, you won´t have problems with the phone. BUT you won't be able to get back your firmware to take the phone to Technical Service on Warranty. I couldn't find your firmware in sammobile, here nor sampro.pl

That is beacause you have the ordinary Samsung recovery and not the CWM.
Flash the phone with the universal CF-Root of amitbagaria, and then you will be able to do a rom backup (nandroid) with the CWM.

Yes...i will try that tonight after work and post here.:good:
That doesn't work either....It starts to boot and freezes. The tablet is VERY hot. I cannot recommend this ROM to anybody. I have wasted more time trying to make this work than it's worth. I appreciate your effort and time, but this rom is completely unusable on our tablet (P5113 model).

FYI, I have installed this on our two here at home, been running flawlessly since the 7th. We also have the P5113.
It is no problem, I won't add any more time, effort into the tablet section. I'll stay compiling my I9000, I9100, I9300 ROMs.

[Q]AndroidArm CM-10.1D Android 4.2 & CЯEE v4[Samsung Galaxy Fit]

Hi there! I am a newbie and this is my first post in this forum.
I downloaded two roms for my Samsung Galaxy Fit and I have some questions.
The first rom I downloaded is AndroidArm CM-10.1 Android 4.2. I would like to say thank you to erikcas because he made a very good job. Regarding to this rom, my questions are the following: is Radio FM app installed in this rom? Is there a way to move the installed app from the internal memory to SD card (s2e app can not be installed)?
The second, and now in use, rom I downloaded is CЯEED v4. This rom is amazing and very well done, but I have a little problem: the Italian language is not in the list! How can I set Italian on my phone?
Thank you for replying to me.
Regards.

Well,hello welcome to GFit forum.
In the erikcas rom there is no radio app,and YES you could move the apps from internal to external only if you have partitionated the sd card.
In creed v4 there is no european language,you can use apps like More Locale from Google Play but it is not traducing the entire system just some apps.

Battery life is a bit poor..but you can use a different kernel with good battery life and performance.
Other than that,this rom is pretty good.
But sadly its not up-to-date because the dev has abondoned fit forum.

Download one of the kernels from Android developement or Orignal developement section.
Kernel of samsung based roms are different from Cyanogen based.Also 2.3.6 kernels don't work with 4.0.4/4.1/4.2 and vice-versa.
Creeds being stock based (samsung based) use one of these kernels:
Wilfred's kernel
Asad007's kernel
Yajnab's Kernel
Jana kernel
Make sure you have cwm5.
Then go into recovery mode
Choose install zip from sd card
Select the Kernel (use volume button to scroll and power button to select)
Install it and reboot. Thats it

Thank you Harryhades!
The installation of a kernel is easier than I thought.
Thus, can I indiscriminately choose one of these kernels without having bad consequences?
Which are the substantial differences of the kernels you proposed to me?

Yep..while on the contrary making one is more difficult than making a rom.
Yeah..choose anyone,but wisely! I havent tried yajnab's latest kernel on creeds4 but some users report it as not working.
I use willy's kernel because it has call recording.
You can choose according to your needs! (asad's kernel goes well with creeds)
Remember: Flashing kernel from different device would render your device uselss.
Flashing wrong kernel of fit will result in boot-loop (endless animation at startup)
In that case just simply flash the previous rom you were using..it will replace the kernel with the one you were using before
and you can have your device back without losing data.

[GUIDE] How to create a fully functional 4.3 TW Custom Rom/ The ORIGINAL WIFI TRICK

Hello my favorite Community!!!
The following very simple guide will guide you on how to create a 4.3 Based ROM (Official Android 4.3 Base or the earlier leaks) that will have have fully functional wifi and wifi-related functions. This Guide assumes that you are already in the process of cooking your 4.3 Custom Rom but you realize you dont have wifi, or wifi gets stuck all the time. However, it is also for users who want to experiement themselves because as you will see the changes are really simple. At the end of this Thread im providing a flashable. zip file that fixes the wifi issue on the 4.3 Roms...
UPDATE: As of 26 Oct 2013, unfortunately the following steps STILL NEED TO BE DONE in order for anyone to have fully functional wifi when they cook a custom ROM based on the Official Android 4.3 Base (or the earlier leaks):
Note 1: FOR THE EARLIER 4.3 UNOFFICIAL LEAKS YOU NEED BOTH STEPS 2A & 2B
Note 2: FOR THE OFFICIAL ANDROID 4.3 BASE YOU ONLY NEED TO IMPLEMENT STEP 2B
1. WHAT DO WE NEED
- The 4.3 Leak (either MI8 or the latest MJ3) or the Official Android 4.3 MJ5 Base
- A kernel compiled with the latest 4.3 sources (i.e. either ausdim or Kt kernel)
- A 4.3 GE ROM (I used mine http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369922)
- Notepad ++
2. PROCEDURE
A. FIRST CHANGE SOME OF THE BUILD.PROP VALUES (Note: With the official Android 4.3.MJ5 base you can skip this step)
. This way we "trick" the phone into thinking it is a 4.2.2. version. I used parts of the MGA build.prop. I chose MGA because it was the last one without the new bootloader. I tried with MI1 but i didnt get as satisfactory result. Below I show the procedure with pictures
I. ORIGINAL BUILD PROP:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
II. MODIFIED BUILD PROP
B. THEN WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF SOME WIFI FILES
I. Exctract the 4.3 GE ROM and go to system/etc/wifi. Copy the whole wifi folder and paste it in the system/etc directory of your custom Rom of the 4.3 LEAK.
II. From the GE ROM we need 2 more files: From system/bin the "wlandutservice" and " wpa_supplicant" files. Again copy them to the system/bin directory of your custom Rom of the 4.3 LEAK.
C. THAT'S IT WE ARE FINISHED!!!!!
I trully hope this has been helpful!! This COMMUNITY has offered me so much. I feel like im giving something back. This is not a thread for Q+A and please respect that. I think everything I wrote is self-explanatory....:good::good::good:
If you will publish your 4.3 Roms, please give credits for the wifi fix.... No need to pm me or anything like that

Brilliant

Excellent partner
So, old bootloader, no knox (no counter, so no 0x0 or 0x1), new 4.3 Rom? This will be excellent...

so users who have old bootloader can use the 4.3 if i'm correct,
well this is a awesome idea, but are they able to change it back to 4.3 in build prop so other apps only for 4.3 will be available? i don't think degrading the "build.prop" to 4.2.2 is the conclution but i might be wrong, so basically those who uses new bootloader can go back to older firmware? am i right?
Amazing. Thank you

I hate to have to be the one to do this, but because you did not change the modem or the kernel necessarily is any of this a step towards getting 4.3 on the at&t MF3 sgs4? Not enough people got stuck with this firmware for a real definitive answer to be obvious, or maybe it is and I just don't know enough, but any answer is appreciated.

I cant be certain... Unfortunately i know very little about the other S4 variants...
Maybe if you asked this question in the ROM's thread,, you will get a response. Other users with other variants besides the International one have reported success...
Has anyone tested this with MJ5 yet?
Does it allow us to have fully functional root and Permissive SE Linux status? I want to use Titanium Backup and Wanam Xposed Framework to make Touchwiz slightly less vile.

On MJ3 yes...
On MJ5... We will know pretty pretty pretty soon (Larry David reference there)
I am testing this now with MJ5, should know something shortly.
Thanks sir for this, you are awesome...
Sorry, but is it possible to list specifically what the builprop changes are in detail (before and after), because I can't really read them well enough from the images, and I am trying to not make any mistakes.

Sorry to bother you but I am trying to get a straight answer on some threads.
I have KNOX 0x1 and running MJ3 and its perfect.
I don't care about the KNOX thing because I am in the Netherlands and we can take our phones in for service even if knox is tripped.
I want to upgrade to MJ5 but don't want to mess around with Odin,
Is there a chance of making a Recovery flashable ZIP for MJ5?
I am using TWRP and rooted via CF-Autoroot, latest version.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Razr XT925 question

Since I've bought my Razr XT925 from an ebay like site where I live, I need to know the following question since I can't find it out anywhere:
How can I know if my unlocked bootloader is a JB or a KK one?
I'm running it with the following specs atm
Kernel 3.0.101-11512-g9511901
[email protected] #1
CM 11 KitKat 4.4.4 11-20140708-UNOFFICIAL(epinter's)-moto_msm8960 (I've read at epinter's OP and it is supposedly to be running on KKBLs only right?)
As a side note, I've tried to flash the moto_msm8960_jbbl version, which has installed without any error msg but, it always fail when I flash Gapps (error 7). It makes me think that Ive a KKbl but after taking a look at the date showing up at my Fastboot data
10.98(*) (sha9d3ad55, 2012-08-30 20:51:00)
Disc Info: 16GB
Device is UNLOCKED, Status Code: 3
it makes me think its not possible...well, as you can see I'm a bit confused here!
Thanks in advance and cheers!
Anyone?!?
Anyone folks?!?
your bootloader is unlocked as you stated it is code 3
And if you had 3.0.101 kernel is because you have jelly bean bootloader..
Kkbl roms has 3.4.x kernel..

Thanks for replying...I've thought about that already but my doubt is, if it is running a JBBL, why did I successfully installed the latest Epinters ROM which is supposed to run over KKBL?
...and here is where I'm lost...do I need to upgrade Kernel separately or does the Kernel upgrade come built in into a given 4.4.4 ROM itself?
...anyways, can you lead me to the easiest/safest way to upgrade to a KKBL...and/or upgrade Kernel if needed? ...any tutorial link is more than enough! (I've done some digg job all over the place already but I couldn't find any about my specific questions/doubts!)
Thanks a lot for your time and attention!
Cheers

No, all Epinter's builds are jbbl.. He hasn't build for KKBL at the moment..
Just upload an screenshoot from "About phone" from your actual Rom/Firmware to be sure about your bootloader..
If you want to update to Official KitKat for the new bl you have to install via fastboot/rsdlite one of the firmwares updateable at the moment (Retail Brazil, Retail CEE, Retail Germany). Then, on the first boot, go to "about phone -> updates" and thats all..
Sorry for my English. :silly:

Thanks again...and np about your english, its as ok as mine!
I guided myself about the KKBL because there's sort of a warning in red colored letters on Epinter OP saying the following:
"This rom requires an unlocked bootloader. Recent versions (July/2014) requires an updated (KitKat) bootloader".
Since the version I'm using is dated July 8th, 2014, I thought it was right in the spot for the KKBL requirement!
Anyways, I'm running it without any issue...or almost any, since the cell phone restarts itself every now and then! So, as you stated above, in order to have a KKBL I need to install one of the updateable firmware options.
It brings some questions to my mind if you'd be so kind to clarify!
1. Are those firmwares you stated above the official ones?
2. Will I lost my root?
3. Will I be able to reinstall my actual Epinters ROM?
4. After the installation, will my new KKBL be unlocked or will I have to unlock it again?
5. Will this procedure change my 6.0.4.4 CWM touch recovey in any way? If not, can I/should I change it to TWRP (I'm looking into changing to TWRP because I've found a tutorial about partitioning my internal SD in order to solve the very well known "not enough memory/space on disk" issue almost all of us have and it's based on the TWRP recovery!)

As I can see on your screenshoot I have not doubts that you have JBBL.. Because you have 3.0.101 kernel build..
Like I said before all KKBL Roms has 3.4.x kernel.. There's no way to have a 3.0.101 kernel version on KKBL roms..
If you just want to update your Rom, you have to install the latest JBBL builds..
(or any other rom that you want with the name moto_msm8960_jbbl)
About your questions:
1. Yes they are official. you can download from here http://sbf.droid-developers.org/
2. Yes,you will loose root, but you have a unlocked bootloader so you can root it again with no mayor problems
3. No, if you update to KKBL you have to use roms for KKBL (or any rom named as Moto_msm8960) Like I said before, epinter just build for jbbl only (for now)..
4. No, if you unlock you bootloader with official motorola website your bootloader hasn't lock anymore..
5. Yes, will erase your custom recovery and you have to install a new recovery for KKBL.. I never have that problem with "not enough memory/space on disk", but I read that sometime LuckyPatcher is who causing that problem.

I was taking a look at which ROMs was available at Cyanogen download page and I just recall that I've tried to install a ROM with msm8960jbbl in its filename a while ago and it failed. Due to that I've installed the Epinters ROM im still using today.
I just took a look at my phone info and it doesn't have the msm8960jbbl in its filename as you can see at the screen shot attached.
I don't want to be repetitive nor I'm thinking you are wrong about what you said but you have to agree that something weird is happening here don't you think?
1. That message/warning in the Epinters OP where he warns that all his ROMs made from July 2014 and newer needed to be used with KKBL.
2. What you said that I'd need to download whatever ROM Id like to use as long as it has msm8960 jbbl in its file name.
3. I recall that this was my first shot ( msm8960 jbbl in the ROMs filename) like 2 weeks ago and it failed to flash like 3 times.
4. Epinters ROM doesn't have jbbl in its filename and flashed without any issue.
5. Any nightlies my built in Cyanogen updater is listing available for me to download as an update don't have msm8960jbbl in its filenames.
Maybe it's just me being noob or getting confused...but still...by this pov it sounds odd!
Anyway, sorry for asking that much but I don't want to screw it!
Cheers!
