RDF For Sprint Galaxy S5? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there an RDF for the Sprint S5? I tried searching on Google but couldn't find a thing! Back on the Sprint S3 and S4 we had an "RDF Discussion Thread" to discuss pending OTA releases.

I've tried to find one as well without luck. Perhaps @garwynn knows the internal name for the S5 link? For example, the S4 one ended up being yada-yada-chameleon, as you know.

http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SM-G900P-SPRINT/latest is the usual... but I did the old Nx1, Nx2 and saw NE2. Looks like they may be working on something...

I started a thread in the mainpage for the RDF dicusssions. Thanks for the link Garwynn!
I wonder if there is a separate one for the S5 that shows the development builds like was done with the S4?

They have all changed to the new naming convention, the old links are there to support older builds.

N00b question
So can you do updates via Kies air? Or only via the tethered version? Sorry, i DID search but with no luck. US AT&T user btw.
you may want to clarify in the OP... the models you listed are the phones that will be graced with ICS, but the article also says that "select phones" will get it today... not all of them today.

yeah its same issue here. i don't know why or what has happened with this update stuff. question is then how do we update then??
The reason it says cannot be updated via kies is because you likely had a custom rom on at some point. You have to flash your stock rom back on then format/master reset via recovery and then do the same from settings, privacy and master reset. it should recognize it then

[Q] Energy HD ROM without radio

Hello every one,
This is my first post here but I was trying to search Google in general and especially xda-developers but didn't find answer.
Ok, so I have new Galaxy S 3 from Polish provider Plus GSM. I rooted it and changed ROM at the beginning. I started with ENERGY HD 2.0 because it looks nice - and it's actually very good ROM imo, well done DakiX.
But one thing - why I can't find radio in it? I know, this might sound strange, but there is no radio. Yesterday I tried to change ROM, this time to MIUI Rayglobe. As you may probably know it has plenty of options before installation and there is one to install radio. I did it and it was working as charm so there is no problem with my device (as I hard some phones in US doesn't have this function at all).
Is it just my, I'm doing something wrong?
Thank you for any help and understanding.
Regards from Poland and best in 2013!,
Bartosz.
Dude, your posting in the Verizon S3 forums - that's why you haven't received any help. You need to post in the international S3 section.
Best of luck.

[DISCUSSION] Separate forums for GT-I9500 and GT-I9505.

I would like to propose that there should be separate forums for the development of the I9500 & I9505, just like with my last phone the I9100 which was separated from the I9100G.
The reason I think this is that the Galaxy S4 is quite new and there are not many threads yet, but as a I9505 owner from Australia I still find it difficult to find threads relating to my specific varient.
What does everyone else think?
I think its fine how it is but the idea will help the people who just simply cant read the title

SGH-i497 ROM compatibility?

I see that there are plenty of ROMs available for the P51xx's, and since the P51xx's and the 497's are both Galaxy Tab 2's, would it be possible, just to use the build.prop of the P51xx's on a 497's rom?

I know of none, the Tmobile one would be close, but you would still run into a few problems. Just keep checking back... Sooner or later some developer will come along and conquer the last hurdle....

The Canadian SGH-i497 (ROM appears on sammobile but I cannot find reference to a Canadian Tab2) may support phone calls and sms messaging. I downloaded the Odin ROM from here:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=20711
And checked inside and it seems to have the proper files. Since the i497 has practically no support on XDA I have been reluctant to install it. But recently another member posted the ATT 4.1.2 so I was thinking of giving it a try in the near future.
Canadian version is listed on Samsung of Canada but that is about it. No info is given. Why would they release a ROM for a tablet that just doesn't seem to exist?

I too have one of these things...Really want to Root it and install other ROM's....Found Cyanogenmod for p5100 but also reluctant to try it as it is not the SGH-I497...but it's so slow and laggy, I just am dying to at least give it a try, as long as I can back up current firmware....just need to research on how to do just that first...
I have a I497 as well but it is for Digicel Jamaica, anyone knows if the AT&T or Canadian 4.1.2 Rom would work on it? I'm thinking they should all be compatible since they are all sgh-I497.

AT&T gave us one for signing up for their cable service. sad to know that no custom roms available.
was able to get it rooted. was going to be a fancy toy anyways. amazing how under-powered this thing is.
I just wound up selling mine, wasn't worth it. If I remember right there was a Rom, but it was only a stock one that had the AT&T junk removed.

Are there still no roms for this model of tablet?

[PROJECT] PORT 4.4 Kit Kat to GE S4

Hey Everyone with less than a week away from the Nexus 5 Release I wanted to open up a Developer discussion thread for porting 4.4 Kit Kat to our Google Edition Galaxy S IV. Its hard to tell when Google will start rolling out updates for all of their GE phones so why wait!
What we need. I am going to pre-order the Nexus 5 once it goes up but in the mean time if you Get one or you find a System Dump please post the links or your download page HERE in this thread. Since it is stock 4.4 I am assuming the bloatless image will be small enough to port over to our phone and then we can start working out the bugs from there.
Please post your HELPFUL thoughts pertaining to port discussion, ideas, challenges here.

4.4
I remember being pleasantly surprised at how quickly 4.3 came to GE edition after being released. As best I remember, it was just three or four days for Samsung to adapt to the kernel we use and release.
I'm guessing it will be about the same with 4.4 and we will get it within a few days of when older Nexus devices receive the update.
Of course all root users will do well to wait until yourself or SamuriHL offers prerooted image.
In any case, I'm excited that it is coming soon.

I remember this rule:
Developement Section is only for developement and no placeholders
and i don't know how "big changes" there are on Nexus devices around but when its out there will be someone who will port it
Moved here, since this does not belong in the Development Sections....Thank You.
Porting it would be terrible.. I manage a 4.3.1 AOSP source that builds completely for i9505 without any problems. so I just upgrade to 4.4 and there we have kitkat. from source. source will release tuesday if the interwebs is correct
screw porting if you can compile from source
I also remember a rule about other members ( LastStandingDroid ) coming in and flaming or trolling other peoples threads! Maybe you did not notice this is a project post like our other Touchwiz coming soon thread bud or others that morphed into what WE the I9505G community has today....and no need to Quote OP's either.
Sorry I posted in our I9505G A&D section mahalo for looking out otherwise.
------------------------------------------------------------------
To answer Broodplank1337 yes a from source build would be the BEST I agree but in the interests of time ( mainly mine ) I might jump on a port first but we would love to have anything your working on 4.4 posted here

I assume he'll release it after 4.4 starts rolling...
i dont think there's any need for a port considering how fast the GE will get 4.4, problably a week or two after release

I don't consider this as trolling. It's just a rule. And before your port is completely bug free the most of us are using ge 4.4 for days without any problem. So a nexus port is a little bit... What shall I say... Pointless

We (i9505G users) received 4.3 exactly 8 days after the Nexus 4 rollout, and the 66Y update was roughly 2 weeks. What makes you think that i9505G users won't get their update "anytime soon"?
Also, the reason why your thread got moved is because the development section is for honest development, not for someone to place a useless placeholder thread for the sole sake of having their name displayed as the OP. The whole point of developing software for a device is to make something that doesn't otherwise exist for that device. Google/Samsung should have a stable/final release of 4.4 within mere weeks of the Nexus rollout, so there is literally no point in us doing all of that porting work when it's being done for us. Instead, we'll be using that as a base to provide mods/enhancements/etc.
