[Q] Lens Blur click to select focus vs default - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am playing with the new Lens Blur feature of the new Google Camera. I find the default focus and blur setting, to be quite good, and this setting, it seems that it can't be reproduced once I click to select the area I want to manually focus?
So I used the Lens Blur on my son, in the attached picture, the bottom is the default that Google gives me after processing of the picture. So I tried to click on my son's face to see if that changes anything, and to my surprise, it actually made the face more blur-er. I have tried clicking on his body and hands, but I can't seem to get the effect of the default picture.
Both the pictures are from screenshot capture on my phone itself, as I can't figure out how to make a copy of the photo and adjust the lens blur separately.

what happens when you reduce the blur effect to essentially nothing? (sliding the bar all the way to the left)

Thanks for the tip! I slide the bar to the left, and the face is still blurry, so now I am suspecting its the preview window.
I did a save after I click to focus his face. And save it. It seems pretty close to the default one after that.

Changing Gesture Activated Camera App?

Is there any way to change the camera app which is launched when the circle gesture is drawn on the screen while the phone is in sleep mode? Mine just goes straight to the stock Cyanogen camera app, i want to change it to Camera FV-5. Does anyone know how to do this?
Go to apps, all apps, then go to camera and clear defaults. Then lock screen and draw your circle and tell it which one to choose.
Can't say it will work with any camera app but I have the option between the three that I have installed on which one launches when I draw circle

Miui7 camera app white circle?

Hi.
I just got my Mi4c yesterday and while playing with the camera app I noticed a white circle which appears at different positions (next to the image border). Does anyone know the purpose of this circle? Is there any official or unofficial guide available for this camera app? It seems there are many cool options but a guide would help a lot.
Thanks!

Are you able to take a screenshot of the white circle?
Tap the edge of the screen where this circle appears to take the picture.
Expect the picture to blur because of the tap.
I think that is what it is
It's because of EDGE TAP - you can enable or disable in Settings/ edge tap. Not very useful.
You are right, sorry for my silly question. I have just disabled this function as I keep edge tapping by accident every time!

Tap to focus while take selfie?

When taking a selfie, I cannot seem to tap to focus on the screen. Instead, it starts to count down to take a picture. Is there a setting to disable that and do tap to focus instead? This only happens when using front facing camera.
Thank you,
Yes, swipe to the left while the font camera is active, and turn off "touch to capture". Those settings are specific to the front and rear cameras, and out of the box it's enabled for the front camera.
Thank you! Dont know how I missed that. Appreciate it

Camera Switching Idea

I'm not sure how possible it is to have this implimented, but when using a third party app such as Instagram or Snapchat, you're limited to the main sensor.
When the camera is active in an app, what if you could use the 3 state alert slider to change the cameras depending on the position?
Bottom, wide angle, middle main sensor and top telephoto. A sort of zoom control.
If your camera2api is exposed, you can access all of those camera on third party app
Only LG does this
I like the idea of being able to switch between cameras in third-party apps, but not so much a fan of how you would want it to happen.
Alert slider is pretty stiff so for me it would be annoying to have to physically move it every time I wanted to switch cameras.
Also, what would happen with sound modes? If the slider is in the middle position, would you end up in vibrate mode when you leave the app?
I'd rather have either on-screen options like the stock camera does, or some kind of on-screen gesture(s) in the viewfinder.
Just my two cents!

Hi... if you are in dynamic lock screen mode, swipe left on the lock screen to change the wallpaper and then you can take a screenshot and save your wallpaper one by one or whatever you like...
Thanks for reply.
But then I have the status bar and the navigation buttons on the screenshot...
Where are this dynamic backgrounds stored?

Lockstar forces me to use its own design with a "simple" wallpaper overriding the systems dynamic one. Or am I missing something here?
@nabeelahmad909, or could you be so kind to update your gdrive with the newly added images? In fact I am only interested in the milky way wallpaper which I attached a screenshot.

Hi... hide everything you can hide with Lockstar, activate it, go to Dynamic lock settings and also activate it ... then go to lock screen and swipping left any background will be "clean" and you can make a screenshot....

Thanks, that kind of worked. Unfortunately there is still the back button and option button visible, just like in your attachment.

Hello. If you use Microsoft Launcher is pretty easy. Take a screen shot of any of the pictures and change the wallpaper by using the Microsoft Launcher. You just have to resize the picture, so the top disappears. It will be a bigger picture but nothing that will change what you want to see. Hope it helps!

For clarification to other users who may be confused as i was about those instructions: What I did was:
First deactivate finger print unlocking in the settings (to hide the finger print symbol)
Press the lock button multiple times until you see your desired picture
Then swipe up like you usually would to get to the PIN unlock but not completely and leave your finger on the screen
When you are halfway through the swipe-up motion you will see only the picture without any other objects on the screen. While leaving the finger on the screen create a screenshot with your lock-button and volume down button
Optionally set your screen resolution to the highest possible beforehand to get the wallpaper in that resolution as well.

This works perfectly, thanks! Only other thing to consider is if you have Samsung pay enabled the tab shows on the bottom. Go into Samsung pay, settings, favorite cards and turn off the toggle for lockscreen.
I should have read page 2.
My solution was already given.
Thanks Konsi!

Hey, that's very nice.
I have a Samsung S10+, how can I save Dynamic wallpaper from my lock screen?
If you take a screenshot of any document text on s10, the text never comes out as sharp as it is in actuality because taking a screenshot blurs the photo a bit.
I want to know where these dynamic lockscreen wallpapers are stored so that I can get crystal quality sharp images as they ACTUALLY are, not a blurry screenshot even at QHD+
