Is there any way to change the camera app which is launched when the circle gesture is drawn on the screen while the phone is in sleep mode? Mine just goes straight to the stock Cyanogen camera app, i want to change it to Camera FV-5. Does anyone know how to do this?
Go to apps, all apps, then go to camera and clear defaults. Then lock screen and draw your circle and tell it which one to choose.
Can't say it will work with any camera app but I have the option between the three that I have installed on which one launches when I draw circle

Setup camera on lock screen.
Settings->My device->Lock Screen-> Shortcuts. There you have 3 options : None, Camera and Custom. If you choose camera you will have camera icon on Lock Screen... rest is self explanatory.
But... there is easier way to get camera from lock screen. Settings-> My device->Lock Screen -> Lock screen widgets, turn on Favorite apps or Camera, now tap on Favorite apps or Camera and choose Camera , click save on top right corner. Exit from Settings and lock your phone now touch clock or message on your lock screen and slide to left.
That one of them. Some people my not know how to get to some points in settings. This thread my help.. Please be free to post what you know and some my not.
PS. Mods if you think this thread is pointless please feel free to delete..
Have they fixed the bug where music stops if you have the Hangouts app open and a message comes in?

On my other devices (which run AOSP kitkat roms), I can access my camera with my pattern lock still enabled. All I do is swipe the pattern to the left, and the camera UI opens. It allows me to take new photos, and review them, but doesn't allow me to access any photos that were taken before the screen locked (i.e. it's not a backdoor to get past the lock and look at all my pictures). I always loved this functionality.
On my vzw M8, I cannot replicate this functionality. If I swipe in the same way, I just get a blank page where a widget can be added. Looking through the available widget options, I don't see anything for the camera. I even installed Google Camera just to see if that would make any difference, but no.
I know that the M8's gesture functionality allows something very similar (long-press vol-down while screen is off to launch directly into camera). I'd love to use this, but the gestures are all-or-none. Since I find the other gestures problematic (double-tap to wake, for example), I have all my gestures disabled.
So is there currently a way to replicate the AOSP locked-camera functionality on this device? Or do I simply have to wait for an AOSP rom?
For what it's worth, I'm running Skyfall 1.3
EDIT - story of my life... I figure something out just a few seconds after asking a question, even though I've been trying to figure it out for days.
Turns out I can swipe down (i.e. to hide the pattern lock), which causes the camera icon to appear at the lower-right corner. Then I just need to swipe up on that icon.
Nice work, Byron
Never mind. Didn't read your post close enough I guess. I see you know about the gestures.
Because of where i work i had to remove the cameras from my shiny new droid maxx. Front camera completely removed rear drilled out and filled with jb weld. My question is there a way i can still use the camera led as a flash light none of the play store apps seem to have a work around since my cameras are missing.
Phone is stock and unrooted
Take a look at the F-Droid repository. There are a few flashlight apps there that might not be on the play store which could work for you.
I have tried several, but would recommend one of these three:
Motorola Droidlight - First party, so it shouldn't need root. Ugly app. Works.
j4velin Notification Toggle - Puts a toolbar into your notification tray. Mine toggles rotation lock, flashlight, music, mobile data, and reboot. Some features may need root.
farproc Powerful Control - Puts widgets on your homescreen. Lots of settings for size/colour/choice of buttons. You can set how long the light stays on. I use a 1x1 toggle button on my main screen.
[edit: Wait, why did you "drill out" the back camera? It unplugs from the mainboard just like the front one. ]
Thanks both of you but neither one of your options work. I think it's because they all need camera permission
Hi all, I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 (920A) that is on CleanROM 1.1 OE2 but partly on OF3 firmware. It is running Android 5.0.2 and rooted. I modified the build.prop file to allow the on screen navigation (software) keys to be displayed, similar to Nexus 5: back, home, and app switcher keys. I would expect Android to readjust the screen resolution for the home screen to accommodate the navigation keys but the keys are just laid on top of the bottom apps area. Also, the camera screen is also not adjusted, such that the soft keys are covering some parts of the cameras' keys. Attached are three screenshots of the home screen where the soft keys aren't adjusted, the camera screen, and while in apps, such as settings, the screen area is adjusted. Anybody run into a solution to fix the home and camera screens to adjust accordingly for the soft keys?
You can change the build prop dpi value and the screen resolution with an app, but you will have to find out what values to put...
My tip is to use an alternative launcher, like Nova, for your home screen since touchwiz doesn't have native navbar support. And you can use an app called "all in one gestures" in which you can enable immersive mode and add a blacklist for apps you don't want to have immersive mode in, I.e. Nova launcher. If the UI glitch in the camera app is a deal breaker (I don't bother that much since its still fully usable) try a different camera app. Hope it helps!
Reflash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.

I tried this method, but unfortunately, as I found out, Samsung is horrible with their Android build where some of their apps (camera for example) depend on DPI values and not scale their apps according to resolution.

Thanks. I believe this was the best workaround proposed somewhere I've read before. I think I'll just live with the fact that my home screen will be invaded by the navigation bar by some margin and my Samsung camera app, well I'll probably use Google's camera app soon.
I just like how Nexus 5 was set up with no home button and now it's growing on me again such that I don't use the touch keys at the bottom of the S6.

That doesn't work with an AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S6. AT&T so far has released Android 5.0.2.
One of the few things I like about iPhone is its integration of lockscreen and camera.
On an iPhone, I can swipe up on the lockscreen to open camera. I can also view photos that are taken during that session without unlocking the phone.
On CM13, I can also swipe up on the lockscreen to open camera, but I have to unlock the phone in order to access the gallery. What's worse is that if I keep the gallery opened when I lock the phone, I can no longer access the camera from lockscreen. When I swipe up the camera shortcut, the lockscreen will get stuck (i.e. no shortcut, no unlock pattern), and I have to turn the screen off and on again to unlock.
I think some brands actually implement lockscreen camera in the same way as iOS. I wonder if I can achieve the same on CM13.
