Tap to focus while take selfie? - Huawei Mate 9 Questions & Answers

When taking a selfie, I cannot seem to tap to focus on the screen. Instead, it starts to count down to take a picture. Is there a setting to disable that and do tap to focus instead? This only happens when using front facing camera.
Thank you,

Yes, swipe to the left while the font camera is active, and turn off "touch to capture". Those settings are specific to the front and rear cameras, and out of the box it's enabled for the front camera.

Thank you! Dont know how I missed that. Appreciate it

Getting Better Camera Performance

I now seem to fall into the "crappy cell-phone" category with the SGS4G, but have found a couple things that seem to help a bit.
I've found that turning on image stabilization is pretty essential
Tap left drawer
Settings from right pop-up
Camera tab
Scroll down to 4/5
Select Anti-shake
"Night" mode seems for me to be essential for any indoor shooting
Tap left drawer
Settings from right pop-up
Camera tab
Select "Scene mode"
Select "Night"
Click the disk icon to confirm
I tried "Party/Indoor" but find that it often doesn't find focus.
Has anyone found anything to help the horrendously slow auto-focus time?

Theres a camera Icon next to the zoom bar when you tap the screen with arrows indicating rotation. touch that and youre good
that sinple! when you use the cemera app, touch the "exchange" pic, and it will change to the front camera!

[Q] Lens Blur click to select focus vs default

I am playing with the new Lens Blur feature of the new Google Camera. I find the default focus and blur setting, to be quite good, and this setting, it seems that it can't be reproduced once I click to select the area I want to manually focus?
So I used the Lens Blur on my son, in the attached picture, the bottom is the default that Google gives me after processing of the picture. So I tried to click on my son's face to see if that changes anything, and to my surprise, it actually made the face more blur-er. I have tried clicking on his body and hands, but I can't seem to get the effect of the default picture.
Both the pictures are from screenshot capture on my phone itself, as I can't figure out how to make a copy of the photo and adjust the lens blur separately.
what happens when you reduce the blur effect to essentially nothing? (sliding the bar all the way to the left)

Thanks for the tip! I slide the bar to the left, and the face is still blurry, so now I am suspecting its the preview window.
I did a save after I click to focus his face. And save it. It seems pretty close to the default one after that.

I think what you're talking about is the camera setting that makes the camera focus then shoot. You can turn this setting off in the top right when the camera is on. It's a hamburger icon (3 horizontal bars). Opening the options will give you serveral options for changing things.

Camera Switching Idea

I'm not sure how possible it is to have this implimented, but when using a third party app such as Instagram or Snapchat, you're limited to the main sensor.
When the camera is active in an app, what if you could use the 3 state alert slider to change the cameras depending on the position?
Bottom, wide angle, middle main sensor and top telephoto. A sort of zoom control.
If your camera2api is exposed, you can access all of those camera on third party app
Only LG does this
I like the idea of being able to switch between cameras in third-party apps, but not so much a fan of how you would want it to happen.
Alert slider is pretty stiff so for me it would be annoying to have to physically move it every time I wanted to switch cameras.
Also, what would happen with sound modes? If the slider is in the middle position, would you end up in vibrate mode when you leave the app?
I'd rather have either on-screen options like the stock camera does, or some kind of on-screen gesture(s) in the viewfinder.
Just my two cents!
