How's everyone doing today?
Happy that it's Friday
Me too. Looking forward to the weekend.
Anyone get their hands on a 128GB sdcard yet? Looks like they're hard to come by at the moment.

Too expensive currently would rather have 32gb class 10

Amazon lists the Sandisk 128GB at $120 while Best Buy lists it at $200. Think I paid $70 for 32GB card a few years ago.
I'm doing alright. Found out I need a third surgery on my arm which isn't fun but hopefully it will help the ridiculous pain. How are you? For SD cards 128 seems overkill especially with the read write restrictions on 4.4. I got a 64gb class 10 about two years ago for 70$ at best buy. Could've gotten it cheaper but with how quickly those can die I like to be able to swap them in a store. Saves time

Good luck with your surgery. With a 128GB card, I could put all of my music and maybe some other media on there. There are also a few ways to get around the KitKat restrictions.
Looking forward to the weekend.

devs for custom ROMs? The limitation still exists in stock. I'm using an Xposed module to get around that.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but has anyone found an effective way to remove small pieces of lint/dirt/etc. from the speaker grills? I just recently noticed that there is this tiny little spec (no idea that type of material) stuck in my top speaker grill, and my OCD is killing me right now... I tried to remove it via blowing on it, as well as trying to dig it out, though neither succeeded. Any suggestions?

I hope it has a warranty. It probably won't last 6 months. And I'm being generous with 6 months.

Quite a few of my speaker holes are blocked too. VZW is sending me a replacement anyways because of my display. I have backlight bleed at the bottom, and can actually see the LEDs at certain angles. Also I have faint spots and smudges that I can't seem to remove. Maybe the oleophobic coasting is defective? Hopefully I don't get a refurb since these phones haven't been out long.

Yeah, I agree with @Evocm7, I would be careful with that SD card. I imagine that it isn't SanDisk, or PNY, because of its listed price, so I would watch out in case it randomly "dies" (while this hasn't happened to myself, I have a friend whose SD card died and he lost close to 20 GB of pictures). I have been thinking of upgrading to a 64 GB SanDisk for a while now, and am trying to decide between that, a 128 GB memory extension on my Macbook Air, and a keyboard case for my iPad Air. Decisions, decision... I think I am leaning more towards the memory extension, as I have yet to even fill half of my M8's internal memory, much less the 32 GB micro SD card I have in it now.

Actually, I found a fix. I put packing tape over the left and right sides of my speaker grill (trying to cover as much as possible without overlapping the spec), and left my speakers on high volume for a couple minutes with the display facing down but raised from the surface below. For good measure, I chose to play hip hop (lots of bass, which by my understanding of how speakers operate generates the most air movement), and after I picked it up, THE SPEC WAS NO MORE! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

If it is through Asurion, you can expect that it will be a refurbished device. Otherwise, it will most likely be new (I cannot imagine THAT many people have returned their devices, after all it has only been out for such a short period of time).
So is this off topic still? Lol
Received my replacement M8 today. Looks like a got a CLNR according to the paperwork. Looks brand new to me.

There must be a hole between lcd screen which let an ant to go under it. Im sure that hole will cause some dirt to go inside as well which later can create something like a dust cloud inside. Those are common issue with htc device. Htc sensation exactly..but i never heard its happen to sammy product before..keep crossing finger..this is something to worry about

Have you been to the store to see if it is under warranty? And what they told you?
Supposedly the screen should be sealed. I think! Or not!
Just contact Samsung and ask them what you should do. Obviously this should not be possible.

I'll attempt blowing some can air into the speaker grill. If that fails ill contact Samsung cuz I bought this from amazon.
if it's still eligible to return, send it back to amazon and just say that it wasn't working properly and you'll get a replacement in a day or so.
ask me how i know....lol.

Could have got in the micro sd slot and crawled around. I worked in the field years ago for a cable company, a lady called in and said her cable box LED display was cutting off numbers so 8's looked like 3's and so on. I went to here house and noticed about 20 roaches inside her box!

Wow that's bad. I would not want to touch anything in that house. Would have to disinfect like the biochemist do.
Hold a vacuum cleaner hose up to wherever you think he got in and maybe it will suck him out?
the memory card slot has always been covered...and i honestly cant see him crawling in through the speaker grill. its way too tiny
Maybe the charging port? Either way tablets are not air tight, and the ant got in.
Pretty sure Amazon can work with you as well, I have always had good customer service experiences with them.

Bought a tf700 about 3 weeks ago and on my second tablet because the first one had weird imbalance of the screen. This one is significantly better but there is a small clicking noise a little below the sd card slot if I press on it. The click isn't loud but I do feel it and hear it. Would you guys recommend that I return it and get another? 3 times the charm? I would think by now the batches are improved somewhat. Any advice would be appreciated. BTW I bought this from best buy so I can just drive to the store but I feel like I would be risking a decent quality tablet for a one that may be worse. I just don't want this click to escalate into something bigger. Please chime in!

This is above the speaker, right? If so, then no, it's been fine for a lot people and has been a known 'issue' for a long time. I'd say there is no indication you'll run into problems if you handle it with a bit of care (like you should with every electronic device ), and it should perform well. Have fun with the 700!
I had a small slicking waaaaay back when I bought my Infinity.
Never paid much attention to it.
After using for a while it seemed to not be there anymore.
I had this problem in the lower right corner. Just below where the speaker holes are. It has finally ceased. I can only assume whatever adheasive is used finally bonded. No click no mo!
Hello everyone,
my Photon Q fell two days ago and since nothing really happened except that the slider mechanism feels more lose than before, I wanted to ask you guys if 1) with your phone it is the same or 2) do you have an idea how to make it "tight" again?
I opened the phone but couldn't really find out what causes this gap on the left side (when the phone is closed and you are looking at the front). Even it's cosmetic (for some ) it bugs me a lot
Thanks
I've got the same issue, but I thought it could be an issue caused by a fall of the Photon Q.

I'm not experienced in hardware repair or mods, but if you can separate the two parts of the phone it looks like it has a single hinge with two rails for the slide mechanism. I don't think those would be damaged based on your pictures but there are also two pieces of metal, one on each side of the display connector. My bet would be that one of those got dented. The two pieces seem to be used as a stopping point for the slide as well as distancing/orienting the display.

At this point I do think it is beyond me and I'm a bit surprised someone more familiar with hardware hasn't stepped in yet. Might be worth a try PMing someone involved in the SIM mod.
The two metal pieces I was thinking of are on the keyboard portion of the phone. On the back of the display portion they create a mild groove the same size as the groove for the rails. One groove is left halfway up the phone and the other between that groove and the top of the phone. When the phone is together the display cable fits perfectly between them.
I'm sorry, all I can really do is speculate. I really don't know enough about this sort of thing. I may be mistaken as to what these parts are.

I think it is pretty impossible to fix a dent in the hinge, right? But would that http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-PH...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item20d0b14dc6 fix my problems?

My Q is suffering from the very same problem, though I got over it quite a while ago since it's kind of a 'minor' issue I actually have the same exact part sitting on my desk right now, my listing on eBay to sell it just ended haha. My M8 is being goofy and I need some advice. For some reason the thing keeps randomly kicking over to docking mode, playing my ringtone, and the diskette defaults to speaker which is getting real hard on my hearing.
I tried wiping and restoring to a NAND backup but the issues persist. I'm thinking firmware or radios are the issue.
If im wrong, can someone suggest a fix? If updating the firmware sounds wise, could some kind soul post a link to the latest firmware for the Verizon M8?

You aren't going to like my answer but this problem can be solved by replacing the flex cable inside the phone. I have had to do this for a few phones already. It's a $15 part plus you would be wise to buy the $11 speaker grill stickers to replace the ones you take off as they won't be reasonably reusable.
There are very small ic and smd on this cable that can break loose and cause this exact symptom.

You're right. I don't like that answer a whole lot. Then again, I do like that it can be fixed for a somewhat reasonable price. The phone spends a lot of time on the dashboard of a big rig and the harsh vibration made me wonder if something like that might be the case. Is is the flex cable for the USB port? I'm probably going to take it to a shop and have it done rather than try it myself.

I keep my phone on my body as little as possible. Its real uncomfortable to have a phone this big stuffed in a pants pocket all day and I almost never wear shirts with pockets. Even when I do I don't put the phone in them because its fallen out too many times. I'll probably lay it on a towel up there or something.
Mege-thanks!

LOL @ OCD.
Well, for all us OCD folks, I highly recommend the Otterbox Defender. We got them for free (normally $50 each) from a TMobile rep hook up via telephone sales. They also gave us Puregear Extreme Impact custom fit screen protectors too ($25), free, in case we did want to use the Otterbox (which also has a screen protector anyway).

For me, it's not a problem about what will happen to the phone if I drop it or anything, it's more about obsessing over there being a problem with it right after opening it up. Screen coloration issues, scratches, etc. And the worst part is having that thought that, "Well I could exchange it and get a perfect one. There's always that chance." That's never worked out. I've returned and exchanged so many phones just from obsessing. The solution is to just use the phone. Not matter what. The 4th R: (read the book Brain Lock for info on the 4 R's). Do what you would be doing if you weren't having this obsession.
Easier said than done lol.

I ended up checking it for imperfections, and....I couldn't take it. I swapped out for an HTC 10. =/
