first off i would like to say im by no means the most tech person from it. but i have been know to to mod my devices most times cuz im bored and have nothing batter to do. but enough about me and lets talk about my ideal. i have the nexus 5 so i been looking in to how to have wifi calling. two things i notced was a post back when tmobile dodnt have unlited calling and text that wifi calling was taking away there mins and and other was someone tryied usibg his wifi calling and to call some one and was forward to tmobile.
so when someone is using wifi call it most connet to tmobile sevres vai the internet from my limited knowegle it make act some what like a vpn.
i was wondering what about unlock phones from tmobile or the ones that uses it servse does the wifi calling still works or does it call tmobile or just not work.
so what i think it does connect through to the comp throw the internet . it may work just like the free calling apps but insted of the app its just built in to the rom and connects to tmobiles sevres. we are talking software. some one some sould look at the codes of the apps and tmobiles roms. oh i was talking to tmobile and tell said they had to change the code on differnt froms but then again the people from tech supprot really know know what there talking about the just read of the screen and tells them what to tell u.
some one i know who has metropcs and there and can now do wifi calling so you sould be able to compare the roms and see what makes it. of and it most likly uses the sims card to help pull up the account. so i was thinking the costome rom could use the apn and the imei or sims card number to connect to the comply you are using at the time.

Your ability to get 3g will depend on if the phone supports the frequency american 3g is on. A lot of foreign phones don't
I had a hard time getting to cell me a data package too for my phone since I bought it unlocked. The a holes act like "if its not ours we cant guarantee it will work!" then they wouldn't cell me a data package except the crappy medianet one (I should have been dishonest and taken it, would saved $15 a month for the same service). Called back, got a different rep, gave him the IMEI number, told him it was a PDA, went smoothly.
I have an inspire that I use on Tmobile. The probem I have is my calls are not coming in. I have the data turned off. I have to keep calling tmobile to correct the issue. I was told today that the issue is my phone will not stay conencted to the network. I got the unlock code from ATT before starting service with tmobile. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I have been looking for three days on this issue and have not found anything.
thanks
have you started using your tmobile sim card and not the ATT one? also you will need the tmobile apn configurations.

Yes I updated to the APN codes that Tmobile gave me but it seems like the calls come through for a few minutes after turning the phone off and back on.
you also need to turn off 3g and 4g as those are not supported by the inspire. (uses different frequency ranges that the inspire doesnt have) so turn on 'use 2g only networks'
menu->settings->wireless and networks -> mobile networks
and also make sure youve deleted any non tmobile apns. (not trying to insult just covering all the basics)
I dont have an option to use 2g only. I was looking for that. I am new to having an unlocked phone so I am not sure of what to do. Tmobile jsut said the only thing i can do is turn the phone off and on throughout the day in order for it work. I am just checking because that seems to be too much work just to use the phone.
dial *#*#4636#*#* and go to phone information and scroll down to set preferred network, change it to GSM ONLY
it really sounds like its working, but then its trying to connect to higher networks as in when u first connect u watch to go from Edge to 3G then to 4G
Thanks for all your help. That did not work as well. I powered off and on. It is still not ringing. Looks like I will have to invest in a tmobile phone.
There are several threads for other phones out there to add Wi-Fi calling to non-stock ROMs. i.e. this one here:

Wondering if this could be done for our phone, too.

I am currently trying this out but i get an error. It says "ER05 Invalid Sim Card" but I am trying to fix the issue with t-mobile. The HTC One S is eligible for wifi calling though. Well I just went through talking to customer service to try get it fixed but they weren't able to figure out the reason. Because I just joined T-mobile today they told me to wait 24 hours to let it settle out. If problems still persist for me they told me to contact them again. They did mention something about an outage and was trying to get it fixed. If it does work out for me I will update you.

So I went to the T-Mobile store today after browsing the web and finding my answers. But I have successfully gotten it to work on my HTC One S. The problem with me was that I was not using the right sim card model in my phone. The model for my micro sim is TM9190. Also if you have the model TM9177 regular sized sim card I believe you can cut it down to make it work with the wifi calling. You find the model number in front of the sim card though. Although they advertise free calling... it is essentially calling through the internet and using the minutes in your plan. Good luck in getting yours working.
If it's new activation it could take 24 hours or so to register on the network.
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA

I am on the Monthly 4G $30 plan so it does not offer me unlimited calling for free. If you are on contract with them then you might be able to take advantage of this. And also if you aren't able to take advantage of this you might want to use the app, Groove IP. Use it with a Google Voice account to get yourself free calling
So exactly what would we have to do. This thread talks about updating the radio before flashing this. Is that something we would have to do since this works in our stock? I"m running CM9.
So I've been having some serious issues with network slowness on my phone. When on the mobile network, I'm not able to get anything near a reasonable internet speed. Speedtests show 0.05mbps or less. Wifi network speeds are fine, but anything on mobile data is trash. I've tried different ROMS, flashed a new radio (The stock one found HERE), different kernel, everything I can think of. I'm nowhere near my data limit - I've used maybe 1.5GB but probably less than that (confirmed with ST customer service). Anyone have any ideas of something to try? After 4 days of this I'm going insane.
Make sure your apn is correct. Maybe get a new sim, or better yet, pop somebody elses sim into your phone to see if your phone is the problem, or if its straight talk thats the problem.

Tried my fiancee's SIM card, and data speeds were fine - I'll be contacting ST in the morning to see if maybe it is some sort of provisioning issue or something similar.
I have an unlocked Pixel 3 on AT&T but the plan is through work. I recently got approved for Wi-Fi Hotspot and that works fine but I can't get Wi-Fi calling to work. I searched around and it seems that it's supported but I can't really find anything concrete. I'd call AT&T myself but like I said, the plan is through work and not in my name.
Our phone guy at work was told that they can't do it on Pixel 3 yet but maybe in the future. Is there something I can do or tell them to try or should I just sit and wait 18 months for my next phone?
Thanks all.
Answer: YES
I just swapped my SIM card for a new one and now Wi-Fi calling works on AT&T.
