Hey guys,
I was wondering if Xposed framework can break/fail OTA system updates (currently running stock rom on Nexus 5).
If so, how can I get pass that and actually apply OTA updates in the future?
Thanks!
Tom

No it can't, you can update, but will have to re-enable the Xposed framework after you install the OTA
Just curious, why do OTAs? When it's safer and secure to just use USB to update.

Hi,
I Just purchased a nexus 5, which I rooted using CF-AutoRoot. Can I still apply OTA updates in the future? If yes, can I install CWM and still get OTA updates? I wont be changing the rom, or kernel. Just wanted root access for certain apps
Thanks
Hi,
All you need is here: [INFO] Nexus 5 OTA Help-Desk (should be a sticky thread).
And Question thread goes in Q&A forum, not in General forum
I short, if you change anything, you can't update via OTA

In the superSU app settings you can set/check survival mode for when installing an OTA. You should remain rooted after installing the OTA. If you have CWM you cannot install the OTA in the regular way. See post above OTA Helpdesk.
Just generally curious. I want to sell my Nexus 5 to a relative and I am running the Lollipop preview. Should I expect it to get the official release OTA update? Whenever new previews updates were available, you would have to manually update the Nexus 5, so will we have to manually update the Nexus 5 to the official Lollipop update or will it receive the OTA like someone who wasn't running the preview would?

Thanks, just needed to know before I sold it so I can correct the issue.
I'm sticking with KitKat, is there a way of preventing/stopping the ota update and the reminder.
Nearly pressed update by accident (shudder).

I made the same decision. If you're rooted, and you have Titanium Backup, you can freeze System Updates and your problem will be solved.
Did you update to latest KitKat? I have a new RMA device and it still on 1.0. Should I at least go to the latest before lollipop? @ALooneyGuy @funbob

I did update to the latest Kit Kat first. I use a lot of xposed modules, and until there is an ART version of xposed, I don't plan on running Lollipop.

I rooted mine and unlocked the bootloader. Is there a way for me to update to the latest kit Kat without losing root or locking the bootloader?
Cheers guys

I'm not sure, but I don't think you can update without losing root.
Hi,
If rooted do we still get updates from google? or you have to stay updated via the ROM's update?
Thanks
Of your talking apps then yes, if your talking the OS, you shouldn't. But if somehow is ask to update, pass on it, it will unroot your phone

Prepare your devices fellas , 7.1.1 is about to roll out cause there's an article on bgr said so
I personally wanna wait 'til Xposed is compatible for nougat.

I don't see how a benchmark entry suddenly means official Nougat is rolling out anyway.
Yeah, that headline is hyperbole. It's a good indicator that it's getting closer. Not that it is about to our is rolling out.
Oh look, another Nougat roll out thread with the same image as all of the others.

Your Phone will give the message that there is an update to new software. But as soon you will try to install it, it will fail.
OTA can't be installed on custom recovery, you need te be on stock rom, stock recovery and unrooted.
There are a few posts on the general section to go back to scratch, or just wait till a developer makes an stock based rom on 7.1.

Do you mean FlashFire? flashfire warns you that Motorola devices are Experimental.
Isn't it risky to from 6 to 7 with flashfire? And sure you may not have Xposed Framework installed.

Flashfire is of course what I meant, Doh on my part!! Never had any issues with it working with my Moto X Style. I would imagine that Motorola have factored in that the majority of their users will still be running an out of date version of Android and that it will go from 6 to 7 with little if any issues. I'll be giving it a try from a custom 7.1.1 rom first before wiping my device and trying it that way, once (if!) it comes out of course.
