[Q] Bright corner of screen [SOLVED] - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
So I haven't had my nexus very long, probably around a month or so. But the past few days I have noticed the bottom right hand corner of my phone is brighter than the rest of the phone even at the lowest brightness. (Cannot notice at full brightness) however it is starting to bug me. Just wondering if there is something g that could have caused this and how it could be fixed or should I just contact lg/ Google and see what they have to say.
Thanks in advance,
TryHard

Thanks mate,
I'll give them a call tomorrow when I find there contact details just another quick question do you think it would be likely for them to send out the new phone first before having to send this back or would I have to send it back for them to inspect. As I don't have another phone to use at this point in time + I need it for university.
EDIT: So i went to the google support page wrote a little bit of a spiel, and they contacted me right away. Got to say 10/10 for customer service. Getting a RMA on my device. New device being shipped to me and then i send my old device back. So stoked! haha
Thanks again,

Very high battery draw/camera issues

So a few days ago I checked my phone at work, had been off the charger for 4 hours not used at all and it was dead. Battery draw was ~300ma the whole time. The next day I noticed my camera wasn't working. Ill get an error message(activity camera not responding). Sometimes ill attempt to open the app and nothing will happen. This was all on gingerbeast. So I wiped all data and reflashed GB. Camera still doesn't work and battery draw is insane. I've since tryed AR, virtuous and cm7. For the record I've wiped battery stats, tryed without SD and sim card. I've been unable to find the cause of the high draw, although I think its related to the camera. Tomorrow I'm going to try and unroot and return to fully stock. Sorry for the long post any help is appreciated.

If your camera isn't working on any freshly installed ROMs, you probably have a hardware problem. As a last resort, try going back to the stock ROM. If your camera is still bad, then you'll need to do a warranty exchange with AT&T. The camera issues may very well be causing your high battery drain.
So HTC told me to send it to them within 30 days. And what do you know the next day my camera works fine! Should I still send It in or wait it out? Im also getting slight screen lifting in the corner so I might as well? I don't have a spare phone to use but I can buy some cheapo for a temp

Yes. That screen lifting will get worse before it gets better, so take care of it while you still can.

From what I recall, the inspire is about 20 times harder to replace the screen/digitizer, because the thing it honestly slapped together.
@ OP Sad part is if you do wish to repair it your probably going to have to go through HTC as I had some lengthy conversations with ATT and had to threaten to cancel and report them to the BBB on face book before anyone actually wanted to help me. MY phone was to the point where the bottom right of the screen had lifted and I could press on the bottom center and here clicking noises.
Edit: Try downloading watch dog lite to see if any apps are causing the battery draw before you unroot, a little troubleshooting can go a long way .

3rd time returning a Inspire.

Hey guy, so I'm gonna be returning my 3rd Inspire this coming week.
The 1st one had a few dead pixels and was returned within the initial 30 day grace period through at&t.
The 2nd time the actual screen started to seperate from the frame of the phone and would float near the corners and what I mean is you could lightly push down on the screen in certain spots and see it lift and rise.
When I got the second one, which I have now, it was fine then the GPS completely stopped working and I went to a warranty supper center where you would go after the original 30 day period.
I took it in there with the GPS issue and the guy wouldn't do anything for me and gave me the number for HTC and told me to call them myself and deal with them.
Now, the screen is floating again, and my phone has never been dropped or damaged.
I don't want to put up with this BS anymore and I want a new phone.
I got tired of my Inspire not correctly working and went and bought a Nexus S off contract. I'm happy with it.
What I'm asking is, should I just have it replaced and sell the new one to get some money back for the Nexus purchase or ***** and complain to at&t for a completely different phone?

I have till the 27th to return my Nexus to best buy, I'm sure they will give me hell for having it so long and wanting to return it..

Of all the forums I am on for the desire HD/inspire I can't recall one person complaining about their screen coming loose. I would say you are a little hard on your phones. Goodluck with your samsung product.
Very easy on my phone and always handle it with care, it cost a lot of money. Lol
I'm very anal which could also be my problem, but with cost of the phone, contract, insurance and everything else included, I should not have to deal with such issues.

Lots of us have had the loose screen issue. Lower right corner on my phone had it. Att covered it for me after the grace period.

Its hard for me to imagine such a solidly built device having so many problems, but yet all i hear is constant complaints from my wife about hers. Lagging or freezing, battery drains etc. it doesnt make any sense to me because I don't have any of theose problems with mine.
Hers was one of the first run as she got it on the day they came out. I wonder if that makes a difference?
I work at one of those device support centers you went to.
That screen issue is a manufacturers defect we've seen a couple of times.
I wouldn't bother calling ATT for a different model phone. They won't do it for you. I'm not saying it to be mean, but just so you don't waste your time. To warranty policy, that first exchange you did within the first 30 days doesn't count towards a warranty exchange. That guy at the device support center should have exchange it though.
If you don't mind, in a private message I would love your phone number so I can look up who handled your ticket in Opus and the date you went there. I know it's asking a lot, but a customer being handled like that needs to be reported to my bosses. Delgreco, and whatever the girls name that took his place at the moment while he's on leave, will not like that.
I would go back to the DSC and see if they will replace it. If they don't, get their ATUID and the managers name, as well as the location, and ask for their store code and shoot me a private message. If worse comes to worse I can do an XBM for you, but I would need pictures of your LDI and the screen stuff sent to me.
Anyway, PM me and keep your personal information, if you choose to go that route, of the forums.
Pm'd

Should you choose to send your phone number so I can look up the account notes in Opus (I can understand the hesitation to some stranger on a forum) send it to me via PM and not in this thread.
Mepis thank you for stepping up. Good on you!

Guess there are a lot of bad ones. My first inspire had a problem where if you lightly pressed the center of the screen, it would turn off. On my second inspire (one I'm currently using) haven't had any problem with it. And I got it early March or whatever

I thank you for that thank you. As I was explaining partially to the OP in PM, the way this rep handled him makes me and the rest of the company that handles the DSCs look bad. At the DSCs, we understand dealing with anyone over the phone is a very big hassle. In fact, we try and keep customers off the phone at our location. Sorry to them, but the script monkeys aren't that helpful. The idea of the DSC is to put the customer in a face to face position with some one both helpful and knowledgeable.
With that said, I will happily extend an open invitation to any XDA member to PM me with questions or concerns. I'm not going to lie and say I can help everyone, but I will try my best.
At this point I would like to help the OP get his situation resolved. If there is no liquid or physical damage to his Inspire, then he has every right to a working device and should no be treated with such disregard.

Look at getting it replaced, especially if the camera lens is not aligned close to center in the back of the phone. We have been seeing a trend with the first run of the Inspires with issues like the screen popping up, the bottom volume button becoming jammed, camera not working, and phone not turning on.
If you're willing to wait until tuesday I can send you a list of where the DSCs are in your area if there are any, if not the WSC line would, *hopefully* be able to give it to you quicker.
I'd like to know if there is a DSC in my area. Greenville sc.

My first inspire had dust under the screen and pinholes in the black around the capacitative buttons. At night you could see a few spots where the backlight shined through. The warranty guy looked at me like I was crazy, but hey I'm anal and it needs to be perfect.

One Dead Pixel

Hey guys, I got my phone yesterday, and there were no problems with the screen. This was the last phone they had in stock of the white version.
Today I just noticed a dead pixel on my screen in the middle of the google search bar at the top.
It's very annoying, and its only the second day having this phone! If I go into another AT&T when they have the phone in stock, is it possible to replace it for free for a new one?
I mean a dead pixel is a defect, not my fault.
I dialed the *#0*# and when I click green, you can clearly see one red dot.
Any att store should warranty it, but hurry, time is ticking

Well ill be coming in tomorrow to a store that has the white version. What do you mean by hurry the time is ticking?
I don't know the exact specifics but they will exchange it in the store for a certain amount of time after you bought it. Any longer and they will mail the device. Not that big of deal really. I just hate waiting for phones in the mail. No need to be alarmed
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Ok, thank you. Ill post back tomorrow and update on the status of the phone. I really hope the new one wont have any dead pixels. I will check before leaving.
Good news, i was able to come in and they gave me a new one. I checked for dead pixels in the store, and its good.

Very disappointed ! S7 Edge screen burn-in .

I am very disappointed with the quality of my S7 Edge screen, only 3 months of using and had 2 big problem. First it got black screen and could not turn in, i sent to warranty and they replace a new screen. Now the screen get burnin after a very little of using :

Not much because i bought this phone only 3 months ago. But even i bought it a year ago, there are no reason to active a home screen for long time we can play game, read book, surf web , but no one just let home screen stay active to look at it in long time. That why this is realyy weird to me )
I just wonder will Samsung replace the screen for me under warranty ?

since i bought the phone and i'm really afraid of this, i agree with you have no way to open the homescreen all the time and even though other icons should burn in :/
i don't know about the warranty but i hope they replace for you
Keeping your screen at full brightness with longer screen time out is going to do this. Never keep a static image on any non LED screen for a long period of time.
Just got my replacement phone from AT&T and it already has some burn in where the status bar is. ugh

Because they never send a new phones... also most likely the screen they replaced was not new one either and thus it was used for quite a long time, maybe in a bad ways that set it close to burn out(yep, it's called burn out = pixels fade). It's not fair to have warranty only to be send/replaced with used parts and phones... but yes, if you read the warranty - it's legal.
Have a replacement on the way, told Att I just wasn't happy with the display. So hopefully the replacement will be better.

Pixel 3a Random Shutdowns from lockscreen

Hi, my girlfriend and I both ordered Pixel 3a's from Google, and while mine is working awesomely, hers is experiencing a random shutdown issue. If its NOT plugged in and you let it go to sleep for long enough, the AOD goes black and you can't turn the phone on. All you can do is hard reboot the phone to get it back on again.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Or have any idea why mine is totally fine and hers isn't?

There have been reports of this. RMA the effected device. If you're in the return window from the store, bring it back, if not contact Google

If it's shutting down, RMA that sucker. They'll do an advanced return if you ask and send you the new one before you send the old one back. Just make sure you send it back or you'll get charged. Don't mess with a phone that's not functioning properly

Had the same problem took mine back got a replacement this one been fine for the past week.
I just bought a 3a on Craigslist after losing my 3 XL on vacation and on the first night it did the random shutdown. Hoping this can be fixed with a software update as I assume I have no recourse with Google for a defective second hand phone.

I would call them. They should stand behind their product regardless of whether or not you are the original owner.

Just got done chatting with Google support. They changed ownership of the phone to me and processed an RMA. All they needed was the email of the person I purchased the phone from. Well done Google.
