I recommend chaos kernel, comes with NXT app. You can downclock, undervolt, and change the governor. Very useful.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551441
But yes what the guys said above me, no best ROMs/ kernels thread. Reading and searching are your friends.

really, the best way to find your devices best kernel on battery is to try them out, decide on the one thats best for your device, and for your personal needs and usage. all our devices vary, so do our usages, and so do our needs. anyways..
battery life is determined by your personal usage, your person setup, your personal method of app management, and most importantly battery life is determined by the quality of your personal data/phone signal. everything else, including undervolting, only provides negligible results. thats why no matter what rom you are running, no matter what kernel you are running, no matter if you are using dalvik or ART, there are people that will say that it gives them great battery life while others say it doesnt give them great battery life.

Android OS bug - silent killer

When Android OS bug strikes it kills with no mercy
Since i got SGS2 i kept my Captivate as backup alarm for many cycles discharge in couple of weeks recharge ect. no problem ,no apps running in background , phone in plane mode with Cognition rom i get great standby time. Can hold out for weeks, but then, one night, out of the blue BAM Android OS kills it in two hours flat lol
Lesson: don't rely on your phone for mission critical stuff

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that most likely the battery is either getting weak or isn't calibrated correctly. And just whatever is using that last little bit of energy, which, in your case, will always be the android os, is going to show using the largest percent of the battery.

Google maps = battery sucker?

looks like every time I use google maps it sucks the life right out of my battery why is this? Ofc i know that navigation will use a lot of battery but close to half of my battery for 20minutes is just way too much.
By the way with moderate usage and games does my battery usage look ok?

With the amount of gaming you do, I'm surprised at how little power the display is consuming. It might just be because you apparently don't use the brower much.
Try reinstalling maps. If the battery consumption was a little less dramatic, maps might have been staying active with the gps left on or something, but 50% in 20 minutes is a little much for something like that.
Also, the stock battery monitor isn't very useful. Try an app called PowerTutor, it's pretty amazing for diagnosing power issues. It'll tell you how much juice is running through each app at that moment, the average over x time, total consumption over x time, etc. Play with that and see how much power maps is using in the background. But I'd just reinstall the thing first.
Google maps runs a lot because of some location favorite places or something like that. Its annoying.
G2x with CM7 and faux kernel. NONSENSE!!!!
Screen on plus gps plus data polling equals huge drain
Thanks guys I'll try all of these things

Ever since 5.0 update, there's a service running in the background that no matter what you do, cannot be stopped. This makes me want to try and find an alternative.

Best Battery Life Rom and How much You get out of it

Hey guys so i was wondering liek a poll on which rom you guys think is the best on battery life
ive used all of them and im currently on revelation with the ics theme
another question i have is does the ics theme drain battery faster or is revelaion just bad at battery
thanks so please just post whatever rom you guys think is the best at battery life and how long you guys get out of it
Thanks
I'm currently running zeus 6 and i can't ask for more.
The battery life is not the same for everyone, it depends on how the sync you have, the widgets the screen brightness, signal strength and others.
My best advice is to do a backup for the system and try every rom.

For me, NumasX has the best battery life of all the roms I've tried. But none of them were horrible.

Personally, I feel that Zeus, Revelation and Aeon are all he same because they are all from UCLB3 base. However, Zeus probably has the best battery. I use CM7 however.

Random battery drain. Please look at pictures

I have been running CleanRom 3.0 for about 7 months now and have been getting great battery life. For the last week or so I have been getting horrible battery life and i cannot figure out why. I have not done anything different or added any apps since the fall. I have done all the tips and tricks to saving battery ....display set at 10%/30 seconds, All notifications turned off, gps off, bluetooth off etc... I can usually get an average of 22 hours before needing to look for a charger.
Today:
10.5 hours and 12% left. Not even 2 hours of screen time. I have phone forced on 3g and get good reception at my home where I was for most of the day.
Can someone please give me some insight here? maybe I'm missing something??

Maybe your battery itself.
There are far to many variables that play a part in battery life.
Look into 5.6 and remember to toggle off data and WiFi when not in use.
Worth a try.
Edit: now I clearly see you toggle WiFi and data off when not in use. Haha sorry.

Agreed, try changing kernel or kernel settings, gov types, speeds, tweak options.
Sometimes it take alot of trial and error to figure out the best rom/kernel combos. May also have to change a few things in the rom and/or kernel to do so. Goodluck!
You can try an app call "Better Battery Stats"

How is my battery life? is it bad?

Idk how bad this is, you can see my screen time is barely on and my phone is barely awake, yet i get 8 hrs :l Idk if other people phone is the same. Plus half of the time I had my network disabled...
I'm still on 4.1.1 :l I heard that's a really bad for battery. If I upgrade to 4.4.2 will it make a difference?
That doesn't look very good. Can you provide more information on your device please? Stock/modified? Bootloader details? ROM/kernel?

Out of curiosity how many apps have you installed and uninstalled since your last flash? How many do you have currently installed? Have you tried benchmarking your standby times on a freshly flashed device with only stock/gapps installed?

Battery life will vary but for me this is what
I get on a 4.4.2 ROM. If you are in low coverage areas it drains battery way fast

What you're saying about battery draining quickly in a low coverage area is spot on. I don't think providing your own battery usage helps much though because battery stats vary wildly from user to use even on the same ROM, there are too many variables.

About 3 hours of on-screen time has been the average for me. Phone's about 2 years old.
