Android OS bug - silent killer - Captivate General

When Android OS bug strikes it kills with no mercy
Since i got SGS2 i kept my Captivate as backup alarm for many cycles discharge in couple of weeks recharge ect. no problem ,no apps running in background , phone in plane mode with Cognition rom i get great standby time. Can hold out for weeks, but then, one night, out of the blue BAM Android OS kills it in two hours flat lol
Lesson: don't rely on your phone for mission critical stuff

Just sharing a story....

Yes this is odd. Hope it gets figured out

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that most likely the battery is either getting weak or isn't calibrated correctly. And just whatever is using that last little bit of energy, which, in your case, will always be the android os, is going to show using the largest percent of the battery.

I think this is a known issue...see above

Sounds like your battery went bad perhaps?

Haha maybe it didnt register the battery changing at the beginning.
Is it the sudden battery drop?

I have run into this multiple times but only when I listen to music. I can have it fully charged at 8:00 in the morning and then 9:00 its dropped almost 50 percent. I looked up how much battery the music player is using and its under 1%. I never had this issue with Froyo...LG should not of rushed out the GB update like that without figuring out bugs like that

I wouldnt exactly say LG "rushed" at getting us the gingerbread update.
It was the fact that my battery % didn't change for over 7 hours

What is this?

I have gotten this error on Zeus, Caty, Jetpack, and Galaxian. And not just once! It has happened while doing a variety of tasks, and sometimes just shuts down and goes to this screen when idle. Amy ideas?

....and I am not trying to single out any ROM, or claim they are bad. Just very curious as to what this is! I never seen it before. I am currently back to Sensation 1.1, which this has never occurred on.
I don't know anything about it, but use google to find your answer

That could be it. Although, it's never occurred on other ROMs. I've been using the same kernel/modem combo (whatever's the latest modem) for quite a while. It's just a strange occurrence.
Some stated it being some apps. Others say gps. And one said overheating. I hope someone can give us some insight on what it can be.

How do I stop these programs from running so often.

Here's a picture of the programs over 10 or so hours. First off WHY are some of these programs running so frequently; like music. Second how do I stop the alarmmanager proccess? Thank you in advance.

I can't stop the programs from turning on every 30 mins?
Some people have had good success with a Android Market program called Autostarts. I am thinking about trying it. It is a $1.
If you try it, please post back your results. I want to know if it only works for programs or if you can control individual processes.
See its keeping my phone awake
I think most of those need to be running in backround for the phone to function properly. If its a user app and you dont use it often just uninstall it or freeze it with TB. Task killers dont work and will just result in the app restarting itself.

Yeah I got to lookin at it a little bit and thought that myself. Didn't know right away because I've never actually used MIUI.

Why is my battery doing this

Why is my battery dropping like 5% when I reboot it? The second time I rebooted it it didn't do that.

I've noticed that on all my phones. Gets worse if you reboot with less charge. The way I think it was explained to me was; the phone uses more battery to boot and at lower charges it has to take more from the battery to boot. Why it happens sporadically like that I have no idea.

This is correct. It's like starting your car, more energy is needed to get it running than it is to maintain. When you reboot your phone, it has to do a whole bunch of thing such as start apps, find and connect to signal, mount sd, start launcher, etc etc... This is very battery intensive.

Carrieriq is back?

I removed the general bloat that this phone comes with, as well as the carrieriq ages ago. For the past few weeks I've been experiencing great battery life and struggle to drain it since I primarily am a casual user with no more than 2-3 hours of screen on time. However, today, I looked at my phone and saw that the battery had drained a lot quicker than normal - I had to charge it a few hours ago. According to wakelock detector, carrieriq appears to be draining it.
What gives?

Did you use a carrierIQ checker? Voodoo is often recommended. It will let you know if there is any files left on your phone

Just installed it and got this:
I'm not sure those consists of files I could just blithely delete without getting boot errors and what not. Is there anything I should do? My battery life is draining faster than normal and if this keeps up, I'm just going to sell this phone and get an international version.

Unless you specifically removed CarrierIQ when debloating, it's there. To remove it, check here
