Hey everybody i have a prob i think ill find a solution here,,, right now i have a lg venice from boostmobile today something weird happened the same as my other two phones that they somehow misbehaved on their own like if someone was moving evrything inside like for 2 weeks, then i have no idea how everyone knows who i call what i say nd who i txt nd wut i say its like the phones where a real person.. SO now its happening to my brand new lg venice i downloaded lookout for 5 nd some other v antispyware nd malware but it does change nothing ive spent over 50 on anti bs. So please brothas im tired of thhe same old buy a 300 dollar phone nd it messes up in a week i have no idea what technology they goti dont mind spending something as long as im free of this :/

After reading the title of your post then the content I'm confused.
Why would you want to change the IMEI? In a lot of areas it's illegal unless the manufacturer changes it.
As far your phone misbehaving. If it has happened on more than one phone then it is likely it's because of something your installing.
Do a factory reset after backing up to a PC / Cloud anything you wish to keep.
Try using the phone without installing any additional software for a while and see if the problem occurs, if it doesn't then it's down to a misbehaving app.
If the problem does occur without installing anything else then return it to where you bought it and ask for a replacement / refund.

LG Claiming COnstant Reboots "Not a Known Issue" with the G2X....REALLY LG????
I literally just called LG Electronics and the Rep told me that this is not a "known issue" with this device. OMG really??? I asked the Rep to Google it herself, and she will see 1000's of complaints from consumers, she told me LG doesn't pay attention to blogs???? So how is a patch coming if they are denying there is even an issue? Call for yourself 800-243-0000. They kept telling me that I must have dropped it or submersed it in liquid. TERRIBLE customer service!!! I most likely will be returning this thing today. I am a man with a sour taste in my mouth now.

Did you contact the mobile phone department? The number for LG mobile phone customer service is different thatn what's posted, it should be 800-793-8896.

Mine DEFINITELY rebooted for no reason earlier today. it was just sitting there.... i wasn't even using it for anything and it rebooted. *shrug*
Really? I'm on my 4th replacement and when it rebooted yesterday EVERYTHING was erased including gmail and the marketplace. The phone wouldn't lock, camera wouldn't work or the home and back buttons. They vibrated when you touched them but they wouldn't function, at all.
i guess its really just time to start complaining so they will push a OTA update out for us, its getting ridiculous!

We all know the kernel is wonky because it is a BRAND NEW PHONE. If you don't want wonky, then stick with your 2 year old phone and wait until the G2x is 2 years old and then buy it.

File is down, but did anyone try the update with success?
Could the reboots be the NSA using our cellphones as a bug to listen in on our conversations? Because you know a couple years ago when the patriot act was being implemented they spoke of using cell phones to spy on citizens. And the fast battery drain makes it even more suspect since it's a symptom of cell phone spyware or virus. Could it be that all the new smartphones are a tool for "Big Brother"? Hmm. You decide...

All these problems are because of how new the phone is, like others have said. The phone has bad drivers, LG messed up when writing them...it is the first tegra 2 device after all... give it some time... btw since I've installed CM 7 I haven't really had any problems other then the usual nightly/beta problems. I haven't had any random reboots or anything like that.
LG will bring out an update to fix the problems... hopefully soon

Im planning to get this phone off craigslist but im afraid that the phone that i am about to purchase is going to have the reboot/freeze issue. Im not worried about the screen bleeding though. So can you tell me an easy way to identify if the phone has this problem? I know il come to know eventually once i purchase it but i wanted to see at the time of purchase from the seller. So please any suggestions are welcome. (some specific manufacturer date, or packaged date or location on the box etc ) any details that will help me if there is any specific pattern for this.

Also,
1) i want to have an unlocked bootloader as a precautionary measure just incase i get to start to flashing roms
2) Heard that Sense eats lot of RAM and i want an option to remove it if i feel the same
3) Im sure it is gonna cost lot more than the G2x.
4) And i feel G2x's GPU would be powerful than the sensation.

The only thing I can think to do to check the phone is ask the owner not to reboot the phone for any reason and when you go to purchase it look and see how long the phone has been on since reboot and If it doesn't match up with what the owner says it is probably rebooting. I have had two so far and had no real reboot issues plus from what I have read LG is aware of the issue and will be issuing an update soon for the bugs. I also debated on the Sensation but decided to stick with the G2X. Hope this helped

The ui is very ram heavy but its very beautiful so I guess its a trade off.

I have confidence that the sensation will get root access eventually, but the process to root may be harder compared to say the G2 or the G2x, and that's still an if it gets rooted. Htc and battery life is always an issue, and the sense ui plain sucks. It does not even look good and I don't know why htc insists on making it so you are forced to use it...it should be optional.

so i called tmobile today since my g2x randomly turns off in the middle of the night and my alarm doesn't go off then and they said since it's a known issue they can't swap it out until LG comes out with an update . . and i've been with them since 2001 and they still said they can't do anything about it . . what kind of sh** is that I am so frustrated with them right now i'm not even in a contract and they don't even care if i stay with them .. pretty much i'm just wondering what i have to say to be able to get them to swap my phone with just another one cause i'm sure not all of you are having this problem with your g2x's . .I'm running the CM7 r2 and i'm sure it's not because of that it just over heats and turns off and it's really pissing me off
LG just put out an update for our phones within the last couple of days. It will update your phone to 2.3.4, using the LG support tool on your PC. Try that and see if it resolves any of your problems. You'll have to revert your phone back to stock 2.3.3 first. Do you have your phone plugged in overnight? I had the same problem once and having it plugged in seemed to solve it for me. I'm not quite sure if that will help you or not. Call T-Mobile and tell them that you want to cancel your service. They'll put you through to retentions and explain the situation to them. Let them know that if they don't replace the phone you are canceling your service. That should do it. Keep us update!
just got off the phone with them . . they agreed to send me a new one finally and agreed to sell me 4 HTC one S's for around a 100 a piece next week when they come out .. guess il just put this on ebay when the new ones come in and wait for the S's =/ depressing i really love this phone i don't know how i'm going to get rid of it. . i think il just keep it anyways
but yea i told them im going to cancel and that's when they helped me out the first few reps told me to call LG like i'm paying them every month or something
and ALA yea it happens when it's plugged in over night just wake up and its super hot and off
Used to happen to me, the getting hot and phone freezing like that is battery related.
Its not perfect, never is, but at least T-mobile replaced your devices, lucky

Yea T-mobile's always been pretty good to me . . but yea i'm gonna keep it on the side and keep switching back and forth, I was never a big fan of Sense so pure android will be good to keep around and the 200 bucks id get for the g2x isn't even worth selling it personally

LG came out with an update two days ago.
People are saying it's buttf*ck stable (good thing). You could use that or flash any custom ROM here, any of which will fix the problem you are having. Also, set to stay awake while charging.

after talkin to three reps i told the last one i just want to cancel my **** . . so they transfered me to whoever does that and the girl asked me why i wanna do that and i'm not in a contract and have been with them since 2005 and i said i'm not trying to pay 230 for the s2's since that's the only phone i would even consider switching to at this point and she was like give me a minute came back and asked how many i would like and we have 4 lines so i said all four so she said she could work it out to be 479 for four of the SGS2's and then i was like what about that new phone that's coming out so she was like let me see if we have any info on that, she came back and said she knows it's coming out but doesn't have any price info but if i sign a new contract right now (yesterday when i called them) she can guarantee me them for the same price as the SGS2's she was giving me which is around a hundred for each one so i agreed signed up a new contract and she's calling me back next week.
before we got to the S2 convo i told her everything i told the first reps about my phone randomly shutting off while it charges and i can't keep living this way since i bought it for 500 bucks last year and it's bs how they want me to call LG and talk to them and on their screen it said LG's working on an update since 2011 so i guess she sympathized for me or something and wanted the contract renewal money ... she even sent me a new G2X which the other reps wouldn't do even though i'm sure a new battery would've maybe helped none of them wanted to just send a battery idk y but yea
Hi, I was going to exchange my phone for the 3rd time because of the wifi issues, losing signal, dust under screen,etc (I have insurance). Anyway, the main reason I wanted to exchange the one x was because it was stuck in airplane mode. When I was driving to futureshop, they said that they couldn't exchange it because they have to SEE the problem since I exchanged to many phones. Is there a way to put the phone stuck on airplane mode so I can exchange it? This phone has some serious problems. I'm with Rogers BTW.

OP, sorry, but I just hate seeing people post useless responses (which is ironic, because my post doesn't contribute to the thread either). Good luck finding a way to replace the phone though.
These are all clearly software problems (except dust under screen). Others are having the same problems. Why do you keep exchanging? I say buy a different phone if you can't live with these issues as this type of practice drives up prices for everyone. 99 percent of time itis not a hardware issue unless something (wifi etc) never works.

I do want to get an other phone, I want to get the galaxy note. The One X has too many issues for me. I'll probably buy the One X in the future, when the problems are resolved.
File an insurance claim and say your nephew or some other toddler took it when nobody was looking and just get one. You lost it. Don't know where it is. Then sell it if you like.

It is a software problem.
Nobody here knows how to resolve it.
I suspect if there is ever a firmware update it maybe a bug that gets fixed but I do not trust Rogers approve a firmware update.
Other than this minor pain i love the device.
Mine locked in airplane mode 4 times I purchased it I love the device.
When the annoying bug pops up, I just power off a reset the phone.
I say to myself .... minor issue.
I suspect anything I buy will have some minor bugs somewhere.
Hey guys i was facing touch problem on my phone. The problem started nearly 4 months ago, but at that time it wasnt that much of a problem!
I had to sometimes swipe 3-4 times in various launchers to scroll pages/had problem in typing too(tried various keyboard but the problem was still there). And then my phone used to get very hot even in normal use along with poor network reception! (The phone restarted once because of the heating problem i guess while i was watching videos at 50% brightness)
I gave the phone to the svc, they kept me waiting for almost two weeks, and then when i called them they informed me that since parts arent available with the co. they mostly will replace the cell!
Later i went on to give all accessories, i asked that if parts(lcd and motherboard) would be available in future, would they just repair the cell and give it to me? to which they replied that the product is discontinued and there's no stock of parts available for this phone!
Now my questions are:-
1. Will they give me another model since i dont want a phone whose spares arent even available with the co.
2. Whats the warranty duration on the replaced cell (same model/other model)
3. Some ppl on fb said they got refund for their phones! When i asked about refund they simply refused it. and later said i wont be getting another model either! I called the call centre, got my case registered, now waiting for their reply.Anyways i dont think they will provide a refund/other model.
So is there anything i can do? I still have a month and half warranty period left. Its been nearly 20 days and now i am really tired of waiting!
Who shall i contact to for getting help regarding this problem!
And lastly sorry for the long post, its just that its really frustrating for me to wait this long and stay without a proper cell!

Don't go too soft on them! You're the customer and you have every right to get the right information from them. I don't exactly know the answer to all your questions cause I don't work for Samsung but you should talk to them about it ASAP. Complaaaain

Finally after some trying they decided to give me full refund!
TBH do not bother to call at the toll free number, they usually have no idea abt what to say.Enjoyed using this phone, now will be buying galaxy nexus/atrix 2/sensation xe. Any other suggestions are welcomed. Btw price range is around 18-21k, will be buying without bill(grey market).
And yeah also liked infuse 4g/arc s! So really confused there!
