[Q] Planning to buy G2x.. but... - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello everyone,
Im planning to get this phone off craigslist but im afraid that the phone that i am about to purchase is going to have the reboot/freeze issue. Im not worried about the screen bleeding though. So can you tell me an easy way to identify if the phone has this problem? I know il come to know eventually once i purchase it but i wanted to see at the time of purchase from the seller. So please any suggestions are welcome. (some specific manufacturer date, or packaged date or location on the box etc ) any details that will help me if there is any specific pattern for this.
Thanks in advance.

U'll only know after u buy the phone.Save ur $ money,Sensation is just around the corner.

Hmm
Thanks for the response. yeah i have seen that it is coming soon (and i like the way it looks) but i dont want to wait for it a month more(to be available with out contract by the same way).
Also,
1) i want to have an unlocked bootloader as a precautionary measure just incase i get to start to flashing roms
2) Heard that Sense eats lot of RAM and i want an option to remove it if i feel the same
3) Im sure it is gonna cost lot more than the G2x.
4) And i feel G2x's GPU would be powerful than the sensation.
Wat say?..

Yeah tq for the link. it is indeed informative for choosing g2x vs sensation. I am biased towards g2x and stock android. (i have a G2 and i love it). So wanted to know if i can live with those problems incase i get stuck with a bad phone :S. I dont want that to happen

The only thing I can think to do to check the phone is ask the owner not to reboot the phone for any reason and when you go to purchase it look and see how long the phone has been on since reboot and If it doesn't match up with what the owner says it is probably rebooting. I have had two so far and had no real reboot issues plus from what I have read LG is aware of the issue and will be issuing an update soon for the bugs. I also debated on the Sensation but decided to stick with the G2X. Hope this helped

So here's a guy who has gotten both the galaxy s 2 and the htc sensation.
http://www.youtube.com/user/samjpullen
From what hes been saying on twitter and the videos Ive watched i think apart from the animations and ui I think id rather have the g2x
The ui is very ram heavy but its very beautiful so I guess its a trade off.

Apologies if I'm breaking any forum rules here, but Costco currently has the G2X for $49.99 if you are adding a line. You might use this info when dealing with your CL seller! Comes with a car charger and BT headset. I'm off to Costco right now to get one!

I have confidence that the sensation will get root access eventually, but the process to root may be harder compared to say the G2 or the G2x, and that's still an if it gets rooted. Htc and battery life is always an issue, and the sense ui plain sucks. It does not even look good and I don't know why htc insists on making it so you are forced to use it...it should be optional.

My take is I know the dev's will work it out if people actually back it.
but I am un interested....

Is someone trying to root this thing?

If this device is not rooted by Monday, I will just have to return it... I hate it when a device is locked down, and yes I am sorta hoping that Monday Samsung unveils the Nexus Two...
EDIT: Okay, a lot of you love this device, I am just saying that this may be another reason why I would return the device, I have more things I dislike about this device besides not having a root. So for anyone telling me to return it already, sure I just might, maybe because I have more other reasons.
About the Nexus two, I am just saying that any other device might have some things that I like more. I am simply asking if someone is working on it.

Be patient. The devs are working on rooting TWO 4G phones (this and the G2). I'm in the market for a new Android device myself and I'm on the fence until one of these gets rooted or until the N2 comes out.
Some devices are rooted before they are even on the market, I think I just might return this device if the Nexus 2 is real
Sent from my HTC Glacier
This phone is locked down the same way the G2 is. When devs figure out permanent root on the G2, we will have it too. It ain't gonna be by Monday though. You might as well return your phone today.
Damn OP, you really need to chill! Not all phones are the same, and not all get rooted right when they come out.
Yes, it sucks that we're dealing with a new chip, and it's gonna take time to crack, but that's the way it is. I assure you that we have some of the best Dev's working really hard to get this going.
You demanding to have root by Monday or you'll return the phone only makes you look like a fool! Hate to say it, but we're not going to see root for weeks, or even months for matter.
All I gotta say now is... walk your sorry ass back to T-Mobile, and exchange the phone for 2 tin cans, and a long ass string.
I hope you go return it and realize how silly you are for doing such a thing.

Nexus 2 Launch Plagued by Hardware Issues

I hope this link helps you with your decision.
wow it amazes me how you can give a deadline... how are you helping to gain root access? what have you contributed? or are you just waiting around for other people to do all the work so you can just flash a rom :/
Also to be clear I dont understand how you can say you hate being "locked down"... say you did get root and flashed a rom then aren't you just locked down in a different way? (now having anything that dev personally likes on your phone, instead of what the htc dev's like)
sorry for the little rant it just drives me nuts how everyone seems to want things done for them around here these days...

Just because it's a new Nexus doesn't mean it's going to be as good, or better than Nexus One. And just because previous Samsung phones were root-able, doesn't mean this one is going to be as well.
If it's like the rest of Galaxy S phones, then go ahead and knock yourself out. Make sure you enjoy your functional GPS until Monday though.
I was just gonna say the same thing... from what I have read the N2 is basically a Vanilla Galaxy S phone... the major hardware issuing plaguing the announcement is most likely due to GPS hardware issues.

I just like to explore what my device can do, I love having the option to install this little fix or this ROM. It's freedom what I like... I understand everyone loved the device, I have my own reasoning, I came from a Galaxy S, I had no complaints other than 2.2 taking more than forever to come.
Most of you are insulting me rather than thinking if I have different reasons, I don't just simply dislike the device because it has no root, I have other reasons. You all may enjoy the device however I could probably name a couple of things that just make me dislike the device, mainly that Genius button.
Continue to tell me I should return my phone etc etc, however if it is not rootable more reason for me to return the thing and get another device.
I don't know if there is a Nexus 2, I don't know if it will be rootable, but as of now if it is real, I might get it.
I have a vibrant, and if Samsung is making the Nexus 2....I wouldn't dream of owning it. Horrible support and empty promises. Can anyone say Behold 2?

dude why do u need it to be rooted anyways? this phone is badass with out rooting it, u cant overclock it yet so for me there is no point until they first off can get it rooted and 2 if they can overclock it like the g2 and vibrant. but i can wait im sure they will figure it out. come on now they managed to get the hd2 running android 2.2 on a phone that doesnt even have android period, so im sure they will figure it out. i would rather them take there time then rush it and mess something up.

First and foremost, if you have other reasons for ditching the new mytouch, voice them. You can't just post a new thread demanding root OR ELSE. It makes you look like a major d-bag. However, I do agree with you. It's frustrating that it can't be rooted just yet, and there a bunch of other things I don't like, mainly the genius button, but I'm not going to get rid of it for that reason. That's retarded. You can't buy an unreleased phone and expect it to be rooted immediately. Devs put countless hours into making these things possible, and the rudest thing you can do is be an ungrateful snot by giving the developer community an ultimatum. We, as a community, DO NOT CARE which phone you have. If you want to get rid of it, go for it. One less whiner.
As far as root access is concerned, I'm fairly confident that the g2 and mytouch are close enough in hardware and mechanism that with one, will come the other. And as of this writing, the g2 has a bigger following. (and more patient people)
For me, root means removing bloatware, and cleaning up the stock rom. It looks good enough as is, and for now, I don't see much reason to change it. I'll do some experimenting with visual changes in the framework, but that'll probably be the extent of it. Did anybody else here miss the HTC dialer? I sure did!!!(though I'm not totally sure I like the way this espresso one works...)
Edit: if google chooses samsung as their odm for a follow-up nexus device then they're morons. Touchwiz sucks, samsung support sucks, samsung bugfixes suck, hardware planning sucks.
Reasoning: Touchwiz is annoying and the interface lacks a professional appearance...needs less form, more function! - Samsung is useless if you have a problem. USELESS. Kies..oden??? Really? - Everybody take a quick second and look up a picture of the galaxy s(at least the t-mobile version). Do you see a status led? No, you don't. Why? There isn't one. At all. You need to turn your phone on to see if there is an email, or a text, or a missed call. How about the epic4G...samsung made a desktop dock. Sweet right? No. Place the phone in it and it's resting on the volume keys. WTF? I'm sure an led wouldn't have killed samsung in production costs, and designing a dock that presses keys is a huge oversight, and should have been noticed by quality control immediately. It's an easy fix. I can't stand behind a company that puts out such half-finished products. Samsung: please complete the development process before you release your products to consumers. I'd rather wait an extra month and have something fully functional.
Summary: I've had a galaxy S and an epic 4g. Both of them had glaring issues, all of which were swept under the rug by samsung. Generally by a "updates and bugfixes are coming soon" type of response. Personally, that's just a terrible thing to do to consumers. Nothing brings repeat business more than a product that 'just works' right out of the box.
Sorry this was so long-winded...I'm tired and not thinking straight

It's Been Fun, Getting a SGS2

Call me old fashioned, but I expect a $500 device to work out of the box. It's also been pretty sad watching everyone's desperation in either getting a stable CM7 build or a kluge of the Gingerbread pre-release to try and make all the phone's functions work properly. I've been pretty vocal about my dissatisfaction which I know has irked some of you. There were others, but they already bailed when their remorse periods ended so as we all jump ship there should be fewer "haters" and nothing but the positivity you seek here in G2X-land.
I was going to wait until 6/8 and get a Sensation but the phone re-booted in the middle of conference call to Asia and that shall we say was the end of that. I'm getting an international SGS2 instead. It'll arrive next week. It's an HSPA+ phone so it can do 21MB down on AT&T. To get on to AT&T's network I'm getting an Infuse 4G for $99 on 5/15 which I'll eBay for $400 easily. I'd be lucky to get $300 for the G2X once the Sensation's out and the comments on this forum certainly don't help the resale value. The SGS2 is $725 so the net after selling the Infuse will be $425 - $75 less than the G2X. I also won't have to be dependent on any carrier any longer and will get updates directly from Samsung.
Unlimited voice, unlimited messaging, 4GB of data, and tethering is $99 a month and AT&T has terrific international data plans when you're roaming where T-Mobile has none. Also, I'd rather pay $8 a GB if I go over my limit than be throttled to dial-up speeds by T-Mobile. My relationship with T-Mobile's always been love/hate but the G2X did me in. I'll still lurk and comment on this thread and if you have any SGS2 questions just ask. Also, modding may not be a dead horse. Paul posted the SGS2 firmware this morning.
See you guys in a year on AT&T-Mobile
P.S. - Gamers beware of the SGS2, it's been determined the Mali GPU doesn't support x-frame

I am getting the GSII aswell but you don't see me making posts about it. I'm thankful that I got a working G2x from day one because I can tell you right now. Its the best Android device I've ever used. I haven't had a single problem with it. Lastly, every phone has problems when its released. If you don't think so then u haven't been in this game long enough. The G2x wont sell for anything less due to these forums. I think your giving these forums a little to much credit if you think they a driving phone sales on eBay down. LOL...where do you guys come up with this stuff?

Yea that gpu is going to bite a lot of gamers in the ass. This is why the SGS2 was never an option for me. I'd love that screen paired with a tegra but I don't see it happening soon.
Tegra looks like the most future welcoming chipset IMO which also deters me from the Sensation.
Sorry to see you have so many problems but you do what you have to do. I always have low expectations of stock rooms although the 2.2 stock did run great for me. I flash not to fix issues but to flash. I actually have more problems running custom then stock but that's half the fun because I know that it helps to get to that point we all would like.
So while a slight backlight bleed isn't viable for some, a gimped GPU for locked boot loader isn't for me. Aside that, the rest can be fixed and patched. That I can handle.
Also, good luck getting anything out of Samaung. Those guys never update their phones. Gingerbread was promised last august and they still don't have it.

I never said u weren't experienced in the phone world but if you are then you should understand no device is perfect within the first month of being released. I got my phone on 6/19 so I have a lot of history in this forum. I've posted lots of positive comments which still hold true. I like the phone's form factor, I like the way it's built, I like not having a UI, and it's fast as hell. I get a new phone every few months. I've never had a new phone that didn't have bugs - to your point, it's to be expected. My issue with the G2X (and I know there are those with different experiences) is that the basic connectivity functions are unreliable, at least in it's current state. The LCD does kind of irk me, especially since the iPad2 announcement, but I could have overlooked that. It's a pain in the ass to change carriers and swap out the phone so soon and I really wanted to like/keep it. But I can't wait weeks/months for it to be 100% stable.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you want a phone that isn't meant to be tweaked then you are better off with an iPhone. You will never be happy with any android phone because android is meant for people who want to personalize and make their device theirs.
The g2x is a guiness world record holding powerhouse. It doesnt help your case to write a pompous and useless post.

One thing is forsure, there will always be those that have a bad experience with a device no matter how super, duper, incredibly awesome it may be. Looks like you're one of those who will go down as having a bad experience with the G2x. You aren't the first, you won't be the last. And you can bet your ass there will be plenty of users over in the Samsung forum having the same frustrations with their SGS2's that you had with your G2x. That's just the way it goes with these things.
When I first got my Droid X I had a lot of problems with it. It took me a while to figure it out... it was my first Android device so I had to learn everything from scratch. But I finally got it to the point where it was a flawless device (all it was missing was an unlocked bootloader) for me. But that wasn't the case for every DX owner... plenty of the members of the Droid X forum took their device out of the box and the damn thing worked flawlessly without them having to tinker with it or do anything at all in order to 'fix' it. It might have been a little hard for me to swallow since I was experiencing so many random reboots, terrible lag, and constant freeze-ups... but it was true all the same. My poor performing DX was the exception, not the rule.
Same thing goes for the G2x. This time I'm on the other side of the fence (thank God). My G2x doesn't have the LED bleed issue, or the rebooting issue, or ANY issue for that matter. It has worked flawlessly right out of the box for me. And it's only been available here in the states for 3 weeks, so if there are still a few bugs to work out of CyanogenMod7 for it, that certainly isn't the end of the world. Nine months after getting my Droid X (at launch) and CM is nowhere on the DX's radar, and likely never will be. So just the fact that CM7 is working at all on this device is more progress than I was able to get out of my Motorola the whole time I used it (I still have it, just in case someone sneaks the bootloader keys out of Motorola HQ's I'll be first in line to beta test CM on it!).
Anyway my point is, if you like a device enough you'll stick it through the rough spots and see if you can't get it to work well enough for you to enjoy it. If you don't like a device enough to do that, then get another device, period. No need to explain yourself, you're a grown ass man. You can buy an iPhone, Win7, Blackberry, Palm... hell even a dumbphone if that's what you want. If it's a SGS2 that you want, go for it. I hope it makes you happier than this device obviously did not do.
But going out like you chose to do isn't going to go over well, I'm sure you understood that when you were typing that post out. What are you hoping to accomplish here, do you think you're going to convice those of us who are having a great experience with our G2x's to suddenly realize we got it all wrong? Should we all pack our LG's up and throw em on ebay pronto now too just because you didn't get along with yours?
No OEM is perfect, but for what it's worth I respect LG and Samsung the most out of all the manufacturers because they both refuse to give into the pressure the carriers have been putting on them to lock down their bootloaders. HTC comes in third in my book because while they do lock their bootloaders, at least they don't encrypt them. Basically they play both sides of the fence. They lock the bootloader to make it look like they're on the carriers side. But they don't encrypt them because they know that hackers will easily unlock them and still be able to develop on them at will.
What I don't get is your statement that you'll get your updates from Samsung... since when has Samsung rolled out updates in a timely fashion? For me LG is my top choice because they left the bootloader completely unlocked, and they left it vanilla Android. It's basically a Nexus device. Samsung would be my second choice since they don't lock their bootloaders either, but I'd have to get rid of touchwiz the second I got it.
All in all, I hope you have a good experience with your SGS2. No need to attempt to make us feel stupid for keeping our G2x's though. If we like our devices, why can't you just leave this community and wish us the best so that we can do the same to you?
Its safe to say Barry that no one cares. See ya

Wow. This forum has become the dear diary of threads. I guess since the galaxy is almost a $1000 it won't have issues. You said you doubt the g2x will be worth $300 when the sensation comes out. Lol that was a insult. I guarantee the g2x will have more support and roms than the sensation. How can Cyan develop a rom, when he said himself he won't if it has a locked bootloader. I like what the galaxy can do but once it launches in the US and carriers strip it down like the original it wont hold its international value. Ill ride it out with the g2x. I'd rather return until I get a close to perfect instead of paying mortgage prices on a phone.

List Of All Thunderbolt Problems Since Launch

We all know the thunderbolthas been plagued with problems since its launch. First the launch date was delayed. Now the GB update that has been delayed for months gets released and pulled immediately due to more bugs. I have read about people who complain so much that they are given free replacement phones of their choosing. I would like to do the same and try and get the new nexus phone. So I need your help with making a list of all the thunderbolt problems since launch so I can make a good argument for why I should get a new phone. Thanks guys!
Just to add my 2 cents
You have to remember that as with most forums, you usually only see the problems and not the ones with good units and that one or two people talking in a forum thread or maybe a handful of people posting multiple threads can make it seem alot worse then it really is. I have never had an issue with my bolt since getting it on launch. I was first on line at bestbuy and it has worked great since the moment I activated it.
Also the launch was not delayed. Neither HTC or Verizon gave a specific date on release. Everybody was basing the release off rumors and a mistaken bestbuy ad...
when you say 'new phone', are you trying to get Verizon to allow you to exchange your TB for something else?
if so, that's not that hard. you just need to call and complain a few times(bring up battery life & call quality - data speeds couldn't hurt to) and after a few calls & complaining about how you wish you never got this phone they should offer to exchange it for you so long as you got the phone somewhat recently.
if you bought the phone back at launch though then the most they would do(other then offer a warrenty exchange) is allow you to get a different phone at the upgrade price instead of full retail, then you'd still have your TB to sell on craigslist or something.

I can tell you right now, no amount of *****ing will get you the Galaxy Nexus.
And if you don't actually have any problems with your phone, and are just *****ing because you want something free, you should head to wall street, I hear a lot of that is going on there.
Good luck is all i can say. I went through 3 Droids and 4 droid 2s, and an iPhone (on their suggestion) and STILL had to pay full 2 year contract price for the T Bolt. VZW isn't like att you barely get anything for free EVER

AT&T has to give things out for free just to get people to stay on their inferior network. Verizon knows if you leave, you will more than likely come back at sometime after you get fed up with inferior service lol

I think it would be pretty funny if you get no helpful list of "problems"

So lemme make sure I understand this. You want a list of other people's problems, so YOU can get a new phone for free?
"I deserve a new phone because forum members are having these problems which makes me unhappy with my thunderbolt"
Yep, sounds like a GREAT idea.

The thunderbolt was the best choice at the time and I don't see any reason to change it now. Nothing newer is too much better. I think the bionic looks and feels cheaper and that's before you consider the locked bootloader... major con for me... the grass ain't always greener. Just sayin.
My name is Revos I'm a recovering flashaholic running Liquid Gingerbread 3.0
Charge would be nice, but if I want one bad enough ill buy one. Trying to get one for free is lame.

You need to stop believing all the internet crap you read. I've had a couple of phones that were FAR, FAR worse than the Thunderbolt and I never got free upgrades to replace them. The people that say they did probably took an early upgrade on another line. I ended up going back to old phones with the POS devices. So yeah, if you think I calling them liars or misrepresenting the truth, that's EXACTLY what I'm doing. And I know for a fact none of them can prove it.

The ONLY reason why they gave me a bionic is they tried to charge me twice for not returning a defective device two separate times. Even then I had to fight them for it, first they offered to pay my data for a month. I guess their logic was "sorry we tried to steal $1200 from you, here's $30".
There was no early upgrade or anything, I told the guy to just cancel my contact. I had no intention of canceling, look what else is out there. If you really think you can get a free phone just because of the issues you've had with it good luck.

That's certainly above and beyond a few complaints about a device that works otherwise! Wow... That's pretty screwed up.
Problems with the Thunderbolt (STOCK)
Now granted i dont know if verizon has pushed any radio upgrades, i do that myself and the first radio upgrade i got fixed my issue.
1. GPS takes forever to lock. I walk in with a friend tried to get him a discount and showed him how MY thunderbolt wil lock in seconds where the thunderbolt, charge and nearly every other android phone they have took over 5 minutes to lcok (i never locked before we left).
2. Battery life on the stock is disgusting in comparison to clean ROMs. (my opinin you shouldnt have to root the phone to get all the specs to work correctly)
thats really all i can think of.
My main issue with this phone is battery life when on a sense based rom (any sense based rom sucks battery life a really fat guy with a milkshake), but I have an upgrade on my account and am definitely grabbing a nexus when it comes out

Lol its dumb but its life. I dont support it nor am i against it. I had HTC Touch Pro 2 i had for over 2 years. It was a fantastic phone for the era that the Iphone came out. Sure apps were very very few and far between but being able to get ROms that were similar to HTC's 2.1 or3.0 was awesome. The only problem i ever had with the phone was i was plagued with BSOD's constantly after unlocking. But as we all know its based on the phone you get, my brother and sister both had them and were unlocked overclocked and had 0 problems...again i know where the guys coming from we all play the system at one point or another to get what we want. He was just a little more blunt about it than most people would have been. Next time bro just be a little more incognito about the whole idea behind it. Its like Backtrack. Its a tool to "test your wireless security" and you know 80% of the people that use the tool are not testing their secruity with it.
It's threads like this that made me remember why I left in the first place. I had hoped things had changed... guess not...

Rogers Captivate price?

hey guys, i myself am a Desire Z user currently, but I have just come across a local deal on a lightly used Captivate (Rogers I896)
Talked the seller down to $50 without a charger (I have plenty of micro USB's)
I'm pretty sure this is a smokin deal, and I know the phone is stock and 99.99% sure it was never rooted or anything. With that being said this is an obvious jump at the situation and snatch it right? I'm asking because being an HTC boy for a long time I know nothing about sammy's, though from what little I did read in here it's unlockable, rootable, and no shortage of rom development.
just would love to hear your guys' opinion and any tips you may have, or something i should look at before buying, thanks!
maybe I will be around here often
Hmmmm..... I just bought one for my wife for $150...
If you don't want it, can I get that guys phone # and buy it for myself?
I call first dibs on it if you don't buy it!
Check kijiji.ca to see what the current going rate is if your still not sure........$150-$200 from what I can see...
As long as there is nothing wrong with the phone...broken glass/bricked unit, major scratches on screen, etc.... I say go for it.....or let me buy it!
I'll drive to wherever it is in Ontario today to buy it!
EDIT: Shoot! I just saw your ColdLake AB location....oh well. I guess I won't drive that far eh? I'll do paypal and pay for the shipping though....

I grabbed the HTC Desire Z for my Mom, and I have the cappy. Personally I think my cappy is much better, development wise and screen.
With 2.2 on the cappy I found the keyboard to be a little frustrating coming from an LG Eve which had a full keyboard. However, the TeamHacksung's ICS Build 9 for the cappy is pretty stable and the ICS keyboard is much better. If you like having the newest builds, a sweet screen and slim phone, I would definitely grab the cappy.
I am grabbing it today
Though it looks like a sweet device, I will be sticking with my Desire Z, I have fat fingers and just can't handle on screen typing lol. Though the Cappy will most likely be replacing my wifes Acer Liquid Metal, a POS IMO.
my question now is what is my approach to root/cwm/rom?
The HTC devices are a breeze to get used to (root, flash custom recovery, flash rom)
From what ive read the Sammys are a little different, should I simply just follow the wiki? my goal is to have Sim-unlock, custom recovery, ICS rom mentioned above, and obviously Root.
Thanks for any input, I will hopefully crack this baby tonight if i get an educated reply as to what the series of steps i should take.
thanks guys!
EDIT: I am fully capable of following instructions, I just need a general rundown of what needs to be done first
ie 1: root
2: flash recovery
3: sim unlock
4: flash rom
Would it be worth mentioning to call your provider and check the imei to make sure it's not been reported stolen?

I used superoneclick to root, installed clockworkmod, then rebooted into recovery and flashed. The rest is history.
As far as ROMs are concerned I liked Pheonix' ROM the most, mainly due to its built in call recording option - as I am an Editor and do over-the-phone interviews. Otherwise, Cyanogenmod's stable 7.1 ROM was good, fast and stable . Teamhacksung is making great progress on an ICS build for the cappy too, although not yet stable.

Warning to those with T-Mobile Warranty

Last week on Tuesday I decided to get a warranty replacement, now... I'm well aware that these are refurbished phones and that they can be damaged, etc. T-Mobile, however, assures you that they are to appear "Like-new". Well, the device came the next day as promised and what do I see? 10-12 dead pixels and... spotting behind the screen... like WATER DAMAGE! At this point I'm thinking... "Wtf T-Mobile?" So I give 'em a call, they tell me they'll send out another and that they are sorry for the inconvenience... Well, this time Friday rolls around and the delivery comes... I grab the box and get ready to open it with my Partner, jokingly I say to him... "Let's see how messed up this one is!" and I open the box... Well, the second one they sent has a LARGE chunk out of the MAO in the bottom left corner of the device... like it had been dropped. I'm pissed at this point... I call T-Mobile and because it's a defect in the "hardware" I had to take it down to the store to get a rep to verify that the device was damaged (also still in the warranty box they send out) and at this point they take $25 off my bill and offer me yet another warranty replacement!!! UGH!! So, the new one is coming today... If it's messed up I am demanding that they send me a new one. I'm so upset at this point... My device I sent to them to begin with was damn near flawless other than (from what I could tell) software issues.
What do y'all think? I'm starting to believe they don't even perform these so-called "Quality checks"
Been there done that I had to go through 6 phones. they offered me a brand new Galaxy S 2 . But it's backordered so I decided not to do it

If I even get one more messed up one I'm gonna make them give me a new One S... I bought this phone, I'm sticking with this phone. They WILL give me a new one. Heh. Also, I came from the GSII... Don't do it... the DPI is weird and everything is HUGE on the screen. Lol. I didn't like it mainly because with the default TouchWiz roms you can't change DPI or the UI is all diff sizes and messed up... Now... On custom CM10 roms, etc you can change DPI and it looks amazing at like 200 DPI or so... but back then the bugs were too much to stay on custom roms.
Went through these with my wifes amaze. I demanded a brand
New one s and got it.

what are you going to do if they tell you to go pound sand?
I don't understand why you are warning people about their warranty...they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. I understand the frustration of having to keep getting a replacement, but at least they are cooperative and doing it. ..sounds like a good warranty to me.

they sent me 4 defective replacement sensation 4g's until i demanded a comperable android replacement... after a couple of other rep's and explaining to them why a nokia lumina is not a comperable device then asking for a supervisor they sent me my One S free of charge, I offered to send my sensation back but they didnt send a box to return it in.... Thats a Win in my book. I did have to call back twice to get them to take the charge for the One S off my bill, which they did
Yea, I've never had an issue with T-Mobile warranty...that's how I got my One S...I had a Sensation, then complained enough, and they upgraded me to the One S at no charge. It might be a pain to go through numerous phones before getting a good one, but you can't beat the fact that they overnight you a phone with just a simple phone call, great service.

Your talking about assurion right? cause theyre their own company. theres a big difference. and yea id be pissed to pay a deductible and get a messed up phone. the last time i had my phone replaced by them it was pretty much brand new so im sorry for your luck :/
Im more curious as to why you sent your original back, if all it had was a software issue?

Agreed. Doesn't make any sense. You would figure that since he's on XDA, that he'd try to flash a new ROM, reflash the original, etc, to get it back to normal.
Then again, some people are hardcore about not wanting to touch their phone's ROM. I on the other hand, am absolutely disgusted by HTC Sense and all the fancy pants bull**** it has. Simplicity, minimalism, and speed are where it's at.

It stopped saving screenshots (not a big deal) however, it shortly after started saving all photos taken with the camera as 0byte files. NOTHING fixed it. I even put the phone back to S-On and unlocked, re-rooted, redid the S-Off... Nothing helped. Kinda useless if I can't take pictures. I also tried many different roms.
Also, the warning was to say that if you need a replacement... make sure you can deal with going through 4-5 before you get one that is fully intact. The last one they sent me (#3) had the screen popping up out of the device. You could see the button backlights fron the side if you looked at it, got yet another coming tomorrow.
