Dead pixel - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Received my moto g US version by surprise today. What a smooth phone. And then I found a couple dead pixels near the center. Still not sure whether to return it or replace it.

I've been using mine all day today and I love it. It sucks that you got one with a defective screen. I'd just get it replaced under warranty if you don't mind going a bit longer without one.

Did you pay for a phone with 2 dead pixels or did you pay for a phone with no dead pixels? Just replace it. I don't know why you guys wait so long or feel any guilt about asking for a replacement.

are you sure its dead pixel or stuck pixel?

It's white pixels on black background. I tried several apps to fix it but no luck.

Chatted online with cs and they gave me the phone number to call for a return tomorrow.

My second Moto G had a stuck green pixel right up top on the status bar. I used a dead/stuck pixel app on the market for a few minutes, it went away!

I just checked and sadly I do have ONE white dead pixel on the top right of my screen. WIll moto replace it for having only one dead pixel? Because i heard some hardware companies have a minimum amount of dead pixels your screen can have for them to be able to give you a replacement.
Also, does white means its dead or stuck?

Dead should be black, stuck should be green, red, white

Thanks for the answers guys, I don't think this issue is worth the hassle of sending the moto g back, it's only one dead/stuck pixel and the very corner of the screen where the status bar is. (I consider myself lucky, it could be much worse)
But good luck to you guys, I hope your replacement phone has a flawless screen. :good:

I have around 8 pixels stuck on my Nexus S, spred around the screen. I used all kind of apps to fix them but with no results. The only time i can see them is at boot, in rest i never see them around, i even forgot about them.

On my first 8Gb Moto G, I had no stuck pixels. On my second 16Gb Moto G, I also had none, but the earpeaker was buzzing. On my third 16Gb I had 5x stuck pixels (green component) but at least the rest was fine. Waiting for my fourth.

That´s why there are so few Moto Gs in stock

Found a single stuck white pixel last night and had my phone swapped today (got it from phones4u). The new handset has much more sturdy power/volume buttons also, bonus!
Sent from my Moto G

I know I'm reviving an old thread - but I found a single white pixel on my new Moto G LTE and Motorola is sending me a new phone. When I get it I can transfer all the data, sim card, etc., and send the old one back to them with a FedEx return label.
I tried one of the apps that revive stuck pixels and it did nothing except flash colors on the screen for 30 minutes.
So far that sounds like good customer service.

One Dead Pixel

Hey guys, I got my phone yesterday, and there were no problems with the screen. This was the last phone they had in stock of the white version.
Today I just noticed a dead pixel on my screen in the middle of the google search bar at the top.
It's very annoying, and its only the second day having this phone! If I go into another AT&T when they have the phone in stock, is it possible to replace it for free for a new one?
I mean a dead pixel is a defect, not my fault.
I dialed the *#0*# and when I click green, you can clearly see one red dot.
Any att store should warranty it, but hurry, time is ticking

Well ill be coming in tomorrow to a store that has the white version. What do you mean by hurry the time is ticking?
I don't know the exact specifics but they will exchange it in the store for a certain amount of time after you bought it. Any longer and they will mail the device. Not that big of deal really. I just hate waiting for phones in the mail. No need to be alarmed
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Ok, thank you. Ill post back tomorrow and update on the status of the phone. I really hope the new one wont have any dead pixels. I will check before leaving.
Good news, i was able to come in and they gave me a new one. I checked for dead pixels in the store, and its good.

So I need to replace my phone...

Sadly I shattered my X's screen :crying: and I'm going to get it replaced with my insurance, they send me the new phone and I send them the broken one back. As far as I can tell there's no way I can check or have them check that the phone's still on 1.85 and I absolutely can't live without root. Any ideas to help me out? (AT&T One X)
you may be able to this.. idk it was sure if you need root but maybe something along this line. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671135

If it comes with 2.20 you are toast. There is no known root or BL unlock for phones that come with 2.20. Its hit or miss what you will get.

Yeah I think I'm going to call AT&T today and see if there's any way we could work something out. Hopefully since one of the reps at my local store is actually knowledgeable when it comes to rooting and modding etc. he can help me out.

Your replacement will come from asurian. If you get a refurb find a flaw with it and they will send you a brand new one which will likely not have 2.20.

I dropped my current phone a few days before the screen shattered and it's just been buggy as hell, it's barely been usable since. Plus I got a defective model in the first place with the WiFi issue which at this point is getting to be the most annoying thing ever. I guess I shouldn't have waited to get a replacement, I was too afraid I'd get a new one with the update but now it seems like it's going to be a very slim chance of getting one without the update
I just got a refurb from AT&T today with 2.20 on it already.
Sending it back. Guess I'll live with some stuck pixels and root, I have 90 days to decide how much it bothers me.
Unless an exploit is found for 2.20...

Just realized how lucky I am... My phone dropped from 3 stories into wood... Amazingly I have no issues, just a slightly blue tint on a pinkie sized part of the screen only visible when there's a Grey background and a scratch on the top corner of the chassis. Of course it probably helped I had a zagg screen protector which is scratched slightly at the top.

Moto X Style Order Now Up.

I keep getting a spinning wheel on the Moto Maker page...
Had to reorder phone four times because it kept telling me, "Some items in your cart are no longer available."
...but the order is in. :good:
It appears they've sold out before they were even supposed to go on sale haha.

Ordered two about 10 minutes ago. No premium back and only 32 GB for me and it still came to 494.99 with tax . I wasn't expecting tax, and I also fell for the rumor that the 16 to 32 GB upgrade would only be 29.99, so needless to say it is a lot more expensive than I thought. If you got a premium back and 64 GB you could be looking at $570 with tax.

I've never heard of dead pixels after use. Usually it's something you get when you first buy a device. Problem from the factory rather than age.
thanks.

Very disappointed ! S7 Edge screen burn-in .

I am very disappointed with the quality of my S7 Edge screen, only 3 months of using and had 2 big problem. First it got black screen and could not turn in, i sent to warranty and they replace a new screen. Now the screen get burnin after a very little of using :

Not much because i bought this phone only 3 months ago. But even i bought it a year ago, there are no reason to active a home screen for long time we can play game, read book, surf web , but no one just let home screen stay active to look at it in long time. That why this is realyy weird to me )
I just wonder will Samsung replace the screen for me under warranty ?

since i bought the phone and i'm really afraid of this, i agree with you have no way to open the homescreen all the time and even though other icons should burn in :/
i don't know about the warranty but i hope they replace for you
Keeping your screen at full brightness with longer screen time out is going to do this. Never keep a static image on any non LED screen for a long period of time.

Because they never send a new phones... also most likely the screen they replaced was not new one either and thus it was used for quite a long time, maybe in a bad ways that set it close to burn out(yep, it's called burn out = pixels fade). It's not fair to have warranty only to be send/replaced with used parts and phones... but yes, if you read the warranty - it's legal.
Have a replacement on the way, told Att I just wasn't happy with the display. So hopefully the replacement will be better.
