These two kernels decrease the sensitivity of the touchscreen to small movements. This solves the problem of the overly sensitive right hand side of the screen on the HD+. It is made by applying my gerrit patch: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/54476/ "Add touch fuzz to improve ovation sensitivity." Fuzz is actually the official Android/Google term for this. I submitted this on November 23rd but nobody has reviewed it. (Am I the only home brewer?) There are no other modifications to the kernel, except enabling fstrim by reverting the disable fstrim patch for the fstrim enabled kernel.
I hope that this helps those of you who also find page turning and item clicking difficult. Small motions (less than 3 xaxis and 5 yaxis pixels) are not interpreted as a moving touch but as a stationary one. Touches should register as touches rather than drags.
Apply these using your favorite recovery. I take no responsibility for any damage to your NookHD+ or family pets. These should be applicable to any recent cm-10.2 build (since November 15th). If the build is not current then there may be wifi or other problems.
If folks like this change, I will whine to the powers that be to get it merged. I think that verygreen has been very busy with work lately.
Edit:
I have made more kernels with different fuzz values for x and y. For you information, x is the short screen dimension and y is the long screen dimension (B&N decided this for us). Larger numbers are less sensitive to touch motion. They make screen taps more stable but can make drawing jagged. Values range from 3 to 8. When a "best" set of values is determined, that is what I will submit as a patch to cyanogenmod.
Following are the md5 sums, file names and links, sorry about the formatting. This doesn't seem to like tabs.
Thanks for testing the different values. I hope this helps others with the twitchy touchscreens on the HD+.
These have been deleted because they don't work with current builds. The 3x5 fuzz patch is included in all builds now. Thanks for testing. Sorry to those who prefered other sizes.
Definitely going to try the Trim kernel, will report back. Thank you for the kernel!

Downloads work for me. They open up a box.com window ready for downloading. 16 people have downloaded so far. I make them open to anyone.
I have tried to add overclocking but TI really locked things down to 1.5. I't sure it can be done but it isn't as easy as on ealrlier omap processors. I'd rather get 16 bit color working for the increased speed. That huge screen takes a lot of data at 24 bits. Now, I am trying to get last_kmsg working and then debugging cm11.0.

Well I'm eagerly awaiting what you produce. Been pining for a kernel for this since I got it! Thank you for your work this far. No major flub ups so far and it does seem to help the hold jitter, not a whole lot though but it is noticeable.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I can make the touch hold even less jittery if it is wanted. I tested fuzz values from 2 to 25 and found these values of 3 and 5 worked best. The jittering was low enough that I can turn pages while reading, it sometimes takes a couple taps but is much better. If I make the values larger I can see the blockiness in a drawing program but that is only important to my granddaughter. I opted for the drawing program level. I can set it higher (like 4 and 8). Maybe I'll build up a family of different values and we can figure out the best.
Anyway, thanks for testing. I'm glad it works.
I did open up a drawing.app to test that as well and it did seem a touch more crazy, but I was using a Jot pro so I thought it was just that.
I would test multiple releases to see which one felt best, but I don't know how much work that is to recompile several kernels so I won't ask.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I added 8 kernels with md5 checksums to the OP. They have different fuzz values so we can figure out what works best for most people. I liked 3x5 with fstrim (live dangerously). Others might prefer the higher, more stable values. When a consensus is reached I will try to get those values pushed to the nightlies.
I like 8x8 the most. Thank you so much for this fix.

3x5 seems to work for me
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk
Testing the 8x8 TRIM right now. While using Google Book reader, highlighting words has been 100% accurate but it feels weird to use. Tapping and pulling to turn the page or scroll up and down there is a very significant delay, like a stickiness, before it jumps to your fingers position, after that initial lag it's smooth. This happens every time you lift and touch back down on the screen and it's just the natural of the best with the 8x8 I'm assuming. But what's odd, is using a drawing program I didn't experience that massive delay and it, for the most part, felt about the same aside from maybe a delay in registering when I was doing, but I never experience the same "sticky" nature.
Right now, I like that tap&hold is dead on. I'll keep playing and then try the 4x5 which I'm thinking might be the perfect one for me.
Some info. Using latest CarbonRom 10.2 which is JB 4.3

3x5 works really well for me, it's the only one I tried though. I have been having a lot of problems with touch and I was told to just wipe my screen before, but this actually fixed it. Before when holding an app icon it would shake like crazy and I had a hard time uninstalling or moving apps. I hope this gets merged.
Just wondering if we can make the fuzziness a build prop or local prop ?

I don't have a hummingbird so I haven't looked at changing the touch sensitivity. I didn't think that the HD had twitchy touch. Figuring out which file needs to be changed is difficult and I haven't looked at it for the hummingbird.
I'm afraid that this can't be made a build.prop feature. It needs to be compiled into the kernel. Maybe a much better kernel programmer than I could figure out a way to do it.
I'm glad it is working for folks out there. I'm hoping for the best comromise between twitchy and jerky movement. I want to be able to hold an icon and move it, turn a page, and select text. If the fuzz is too big, I can't select text. If it is too small, I can't hold an icon or set wallpaper. Thanks for testing.
And by the way, it seems like Verygreen's emmc trim fix works. I haven't seen any reports of bricks using the new trimfix enabled kernels.
Totally cool job man! If it works out fine some day we all want to see a version for hummingbird.
Being able to update these values from a menu would be pretty awesome. Do we know if any of the custom roms support variable touchscreen adjustments like this?
Thanks,
Dave\Esotic

I love my TB but there is one thin about it that bugs me. Comparing screen responsiveness when comparing to an iPhone the iPhone feels to be an exact immediate response when you drag a screen up or down or home screen left or right. The TB seems to take a little bit of dragging before it recognizes it. And in apps as well. When im scrolling in twitter it just seems to take a bit more dragging. This doesn't seem like a hardware thing (meaning the TB isn't fast enough) but a stylistic choice by HTC maybe? Is there a way to make dragging faster? I don't want to increase sensitivity of selecting icons.

part of the delay is an inherent weakness of Android. At this time Android doesn't have direct access for hardware acceleration. iOS does. That being said its coming soon.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about. Granted I'm on either cm7 or OMFGB, so I'm on gb aosp, my tb is totally responsive and not currently overclocked on either setup. Ios seems to have smoother transitions, but it's no more responsive per se than my tb.

It seems as if the tolerance to begin scrolling on the TB is higher than iOS. Of you swipe your finger left to right on the TB homescreen it has to drag about half a centimeter before you start pulling the screen. On iOS it seems as if it instanlty pulls it. Like I said earlier, I don't think it is a lack of phone power, but more a stylistic choice.

I also have problems with low responsiveness of the screen. Is there any way to boost it like in Ip4G or SSGII? Typing text on HD2 is very tiring as the number of mistakes and misspels due to microlags are great. I can type sms quite fast on Ip4G but on Hd2 it is a torture. Any idea, please?

Swift Key X is awesome!
And I'm on CM7 and everything seems to scroll beautifully.
Although I use SwiftKey X often, I have used Swype since day 1. I don't know how I would live without it now. I am able to use Swype deftly with my thumb. And that is the thumb on the hand that is holding the phone! (SlideIt, and FlexT9 work the same as Swype)
I also love the fact that with Android, you can switch keyboards quickly, without leaving the app you are in.
So I have been using this note taking app for the last few weeks and I thought I would share it with you guys. This is by far the best one for me because it differentiates between s-pen and touch inputs and also has continuous scrollable pages.
I use the pen to write and the touch input to scroll down. It automatically opens a new page under the one you were writing on when you reach the bottom of the page. So, it really is a proper notebook replacement for me in class.
Here are the settings I use it with,
settings>input> Use stylus(hardware detection) enabled.
settings>input> Allow one finger scrolling enabled.
settings>input> Allow two fingers zooming enabled.
settings>tools> Auto-forward page enabled .
settings>tools> Auto-forward page setup - bottom boundary selected.
Here's the play store link for the trial version, let me know what you guys think. This one really was worth buying for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acadoid.lecturenotestrial&hl=en
The trial version is limited in the number of notebooks (2) and the number of pages per notebook (8).
Edit - for CM9, landscape offset can be set in settings>input>Shift input setup
I love this app. Had it on a flyer before it died and it is fabulous on the note.

yeah I think I saw your post in the alliance rom thread.. very odd. Only the dev will be able to shed light on why it does not detect the s pen on the rom. What happens exactly though, the program doesn't start up?

Jotter doesnt start, Lecture starts instead but when I select "Use stylus" and try to write, it simply doesnt write.
By the way, if it works with Rocket, maybe I could change Rom.
How is the battery with Rocketrom?
Depends on the kernel you use I guess.. I'm very happy with rocketrom and the speedmod kernel. Rocketrom 4.1 comes with a cf root kernel by default but speedmod gives the best balance of smoothness and battery life for me. Definitely worth a shot.

thank you dude this is a really great app for note taking and you can rest your hand on the screen while you are writing without any promlems
i have been stuck with tw roms because of the s memo and i didnt find any great replacement for it yet
does it work in aosp and miui roms the same way it does with TW roms ?
if so , it would be fantastic
i would be able to flash any roms without sacrificing the functionality of the s pen

So, curiousity made me go on a flashing spree to test the app on aosp/aokp roms. I tested it on asylum, liquidsmooth and paranoid android and the result was the same (expected, but hope made me try all three).
What happens is, it detects the s pen fine and can also differentiate between a touch input and the pen input, which means you can still scroll with touch and write only with the pen.
The bad part is, it screws up when you try to write with your palm on the screen.. When a touch input is sensed you cannot write (writing is intermittent and buggy) whereas on a TW based rom only the pen input is sensed when there is a pen input and a touch input (your palm) together..
So, whereas you can write easily with your palm resting on the screen on a TW rom you cannot do so on a aosp/aokp rom.
All other features work without issues.

it seems like a good alternative for the stock Snote. I was using Snote during my courses for taking some notes, but i will give a chance to this alternative one, hope to be more practical then Snote
So I thought I would let you guys know that this app is now fully usable with aosp/cm9 based builds. CM9 has fixed the issue of the touch input interfering with the spens and you can easily rest your hand on the screen and write (the same should go for all other apps which sense hardware stylus input).
Lecturenotes also provides the functionality of setting a touch offset to fix the spen offset problem in landscape mode for cm9.

CM9 now has palm rejection working. I am on PA and it works well. That should not be an issue now.
...what?
I noticed that it generally is a request randomly for this feature or that option, or requests within dev threads themselves or random threads entirely (off topic type 'wouldn't this be cool!')
So what would be cool?
What's on the wish list?
For me i'd love to experience two things:
USB OTG. My S3 broke it for me. Not having it at all was fine, but after integrating that function so fully into my Android life being without it is ...beyond words.
Second thing i'd like is to have the tv-out be an additional display instead of a mirrored display. Plugging into a bigger screen is absolutely awesome - but sometimes it would be nice to have the option of increasing my digital work space instead of just seeing it bigger.
...so not exactly easy things to start us off with, but anything goes.
What do you guys want out of your ROMs?
Maybe this can help inspire devs to include popular ideas by moving the suggestions to a neutral place instead of having to search the whole doubleshot forum for random ideas. Maybe become a good place for someone to cruise by looking for something to do.
What do we like?
great idea to post this thread!
im not one in need of too much, but i do like options. i remember when ezterry came up with the yes no binary script to attach to roms/updates i was amazed we could run code during an update that takes over the screen and user input. it took like two years for someone to polish it up and make the aroma installer, now i find that to be a must in roms. being able to adjust so much prior to even installing a rom is amazing to me still.
so yeah, i look for what most else do, stable, good battery life, speed, nice camera, better than stock. so the only thing i would add to the list everyone else has is make a rom as customizable as possible!
Cm9.1 states in OP USB on the go works on experimental kernel
I would LOVE to see a rom with all of the senses. (A lot of data) or at least 3 sense versions. (Still alot) update with the other HTC sense devices. HTC one series of course, 100%. That's it. OTG would indeed be great.
I also like as many settings as possible--particularly colors and visual stuff. My old G1 had a CM rom that had options for every color and font used, I think, and it was great. You could change the sensitivity of the trackball and all that kind of detail stuff. That level of control is fantastic, and I'd love to have it back.

There is work being done into using Android in robotics. Also, at cheap retail you can get a remote controlled helicopter with app support for flight control.
We are devs here, so having that app interaction with the remote controlled device is a springboard to what we actually need.
So the helicopter bit gives us the interaction with the device, and the flight aspect with a solid base to build on for what we need.
We can definitely get a laser from overseas that will cut things, in a portable package like a laser pointer.
I'm sure we could build something in the shape of a shark. I'm thinking we can disassemble a doubleshot and use the tv-out function to mirror the screens, then use two for the eyes. (else write a custom home screen that splits in two with a small gap between on the screen, and fit into the shark head behind where the eyes would be.)
Then the processsor and stuff would be where the brain was, and you could install the keyboard to the top or back of the head. Retain the slide mechanism, and you could have it push button slide out of the mouth or something.
So our roadblocks now:
-Shark mold. Still yet to be determined in size based on some requirements:
-Amphibious. It's a shark, right? We need to look into remote control boats and subs to see how to do this.
-Maybe mount a second laser...

...since it was pluralized.
-Some way of targeting the lasers. I'd like to add some manner of aiming, so it needs to be able to move the lasers without moving the machine. Maybe a combination of GPS and accelerometer combined with the camera for output to whatever controller we have so we can make a targeting mechanism.
Lots of prior art exists to make this from so it's about a done deal.
-Power. Power is going to be our biggest issue. The doubleshot is self sufficent, maybe get a couple of mugens and build a docking bay for them where you could plug in 4 or 5 that the doubleshot could use just like the one in the phone while it's on. Heck, we already disassembled it and built the parts into the beast, so this upgrade makes sense. If we can use this battery bank for the rest of the machine - lasers and the flying/swimming bit, then 4 or 5 might not be enough.
-Weight. If it's gonna fly, it's already too heavy with the doubleshot. Add batteries and it's a serious hurdle to overcome. Helicopter blades aren't gonna cut it so this:

...translates the joke into the only logical blueprint to pull it off.
So now we are off to model rockets, and the solid fuel rocket engines. It's okay to refuel a one-burn stage of flight now because that's how that would work. We have many, many years of hobbyist activity to pull from for materials and knowledge.
We can set up a multi-stage flight mechanism and having the doubleshot in the machine allows us to control when those stages ignite, not just one setting off the next.
Hell, we may even be able to fit a rotating barrel or three of engines in the belly of the shark that will serve up stage after stage of engines to be ignited for continued flight. At this point we may very well be looking at orbital capabilities. Why not - go big, right?
Maybe a parachute would be a good thing to incorporate, and being as it's a frickin' shark, we can splash-down for landing somewhere. So play with it by a lake or something. You won't have to go get it, because it can swim, so you just pop out the propeller from the underside-rear, located internally behind the rotating top-serve engines, and drive it to where you are.
Bonus points if on a dock or boat so you don't have to beach it to get it.
(thanks for giving me an outlet for something creative to wander through while printing a ton of pictures)
+ 1 for full camera function. Also, not a huge deal at all, but the CAPS/ALT LEDs function would be nice too.
I might be alone with this one, but I remember in the G1 days, when I press the phone icon to make a call and just start typing the name of a contact, it would automatically search my contacts and start showing matching names, and I could quickly call someone. Some DS ROMs do this, some don't, but it's a cool, quick way to call someone who's not on the recently called list.
Really, I'm just listing the minor things in CM 9.1 that bug me in an otherwise perfect ROM lol
A little off topic, but since we're all speculating: being able to boot from SD card would be boss.

Why? CM9.1 is improved in almost every way over CM7.
I am also a fan of the bluetooth controller bit. Sixaxis app and a ps3 controller - especially one without the rumble pack - is pretty handy. Remote camera shutter trigger, for one, it's not just good for games.
Also think that codec support for a variety of audio/video filetypes should be built in. Working avi support for one. I have gigs and gigs of video i've shot and converted to avi because over the years digital storage space has not been as prevalent or as cheap as it is today.
One day i'll have everything converted to .mp4, but this is years of home video we are talking about. I'd like to play it to a tv through the device without it crashing sometime in the next calendar year, which won't be happening with having to convert it all to .mp4 first.

No detail too small - and i'd hardly dismiss any part of the hardware not functioning properly as no big thing. I don't think that's being unreasonable?
Sometimes it can be a convoluted process on the dev side to get the most basic of things working right. In the context of a wish list the various little things that bug people, or that they think would be cool to have are the gems this thread is aiming to find.
I like this thread! I agree with most people's answers.

We should have our Alt and Caps light working and all other capabilities of the harware keyboard as it was THE reason I bought this over Sensation at the time of purchase
DS camera should be included or at least an equal or better replacement. Losing face detection, burst shot, panorama, and 1080P is not a step forward.
What I hear people saying is...(or maybe it's just how I feel) our phone has some really great features out of the box and it would be nice if we could take that strong base and develop it further to add more options and tweaks without having to sacrifice the best features of our ROM. Maintaining these features and bringing ICS or JB to the table would be fabulous but honestly, if we just made our own base ROM more feature rich, I could live with that....maybe dress it up with some better themes.
It's those little things missing from ROMs that make me always come back to the stock based ROMs. I just brought Netflix to a friend's house last night by hooking my phone to his TV and I caught him up on Walking Dead. I'll personally take that ability over a few points on a benchmark or something.
Trackpad wake/sleep is another for me. I LOVE that when I'm on a stock based ROM like Bulletproof and MikTouch that when I hear a notifaction sound of a text, I can comfortably hit the trackpad to wake the phone but not unlock, read the text and then put the phone back to sleep with the same button.....same thing when I want to check the time.
It's the little things...
Oh yeah that sixaxis feature that Blue6IX has been hoping for since day one does sound pretty awesome!!

Just hit me (my bad if anyone else mentioned this) that annoying issue with the power button where at the same time to goes to sleep and pulls up the "power menu?" Not sure if that's what its called.

I know that was an issue on the GB ROMs. Which are you running?

Yes yes yes there is a version for Verizon gs3 available in case you have not seen.
I would have brought along some screen shots....but I don't think Ubuntu would let me :/
Anyways
I know my opinion is irrelevant because you guys do not care and the build is currently the definition of " Not a daily driver"
However,
One can still understand the flow and mechanics of the layout.
I use my phone for everything. Quickly moving from one app to another.
In this sense, Ubuntu flows like a river in how to navigate through the apps and home pages. Everything was smooth and no lag any where.
I did find a draw back to the easy access though.
Because of all the swipes in different locations at different times and the multiple spots to pull down different sections of the notification bar, you find your self

Also, because hard ware keys are broken. I found my self somewhere but lost. It would take me a minute to get where I needed to go only because I just didn't know how to get there haha
Coming from touch wiz and an AOSP ROM here and there... Ubuntu almost seems childish?
The layout makes me feel like an old man picking up a smart phone for the first time.
The colors and theme remind me of a day care.
Haha I know all of this is purely theme as not everyone will be happy with it.
But the idea and creativity into this is purely AMAZING.
One of the most refreshing (ROM?) I have used.
I will be coming back when it is daily qualified and might even think that day would be donation worthy

I'd love to provide the link. But I am sure it is against the rules somewhere to share links to other peoples work whom do not have it posted on xda.
It is available at roots wiki for the Verizon galaxy s3.
Sorry guys :/

I believe so. The file clearly has cm in the name Haha so it would make sense

It's not based on CM, from what I understand it requires that to be installed first to get this booting on our phones. The CM file is only about 50mb.

Yeah well it is a two part flash kind of lay out. And I believe that xda wrote an article about this.
Check the portal and read what they had to say.

It's definitely different and original, which I like. Hard to get a real feel for it since it's basically a non-working demo at this point. Lots of swiping all over the place to do everything. But it looks pretty clean and has some cool features like the favorite apps bar and easy app switching/multitasking.
for people asking about the link, it is on rootzwiki forum.
Saw an article on this and knew it would be posted about here. Not ready to try it out myself just yet. But I do like the idea and will be watching. Unfortunate that they put out a semi-functional build with flaws such as these but it's understandable.
I am definitely excited to see this up and running.
Make it so number one!

Builds for the GS3 variants is just a developer preview, I'm guessing we won't see a solid functional build for any device until the source code drops which will probably be around the same time the Ubuntu phone is announced/released. Truly unique experience, lots of swiping and great for multi tasking which I do a lot of. Wasn't too thrilled with the dock system but I suppose it's worth getting use to. The ability to dual boot ubuntu touch/android will be the selling point for most ppl.

I would love to test once they work out some more bugs.
I'm curious how come there are still no AOSP or CM derived ROM's for the Note II that used Cornerstone. It would provide the same features offered by Samsung's own multi-window implementation in touch-wizz.
I've seen several ROM using this on the ASUS tablets.
If anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about , Cornerstone is an open source framework and launcher that offers multi-window support for AOSP and CM based ROMs. http://www.onskreen.com/cornerstone/
Source code here : https://github.com/Onskreen/cornerstone
Corner stone had issues with Google iirc because some apps don't behave well with it an resulting in bad ratings on the play store.. So cornerstone was blamed I haven't seen much progress on it since then..

Cornerstone would cause CM to break the Android CTS. Knowingly breaking the Android CTS is a no-no for CM maintainers. (As to PIE - my opinion is that should never have been merged for that reason.)
Samsung worked around this by whitelisting a small subset of apps with the permission of the app developers - as big as CM is, I don't think we'd be able to get app developers to cooperate in this manner, and the end result is the effort to try and integrate Cornerstone just isn't worth it if it can only be used with a small handful of apps.
I'm not talking about official CM as I am aware of the issue it had with the CTS. I was referring to our ROM devs that make custom unofficial builds of AOSP , CM , AOKP and so on.
@Entropy512, I was curious how PIE made its way to CM. Surely there mustve been some debates regarding it. Could you please, if its possible, share some insight as to what points went against it, and in the end what was it that clinched it in favor of adding the feature?

Much of that is private... I would prefer not to go into detail on it.
What I will say is it was highly controversial and a number of people (including myself) still think it should be reverted if it can't be made not to break the CTS. (There was discussions of possible ways to make it less breaky, such as removing edge/top triggers.)

Isn't this just like Samsung's Multi-Window? When I flashed the mod that added all apps to Multi-Window, I found that some apps just don't work that well with it- it doesn't stop me from using it, but I've changed the way that I use Multi-Window. If we could adopt that kind of mentality perhaps we could use Cornerstone... What kind of reported bad activity was happening with Cornerstone?

Samsung's multi-window only works with certain applications that have been tested to work well with it. Anything not whitelisted won't work with multiwindow.
And NO - CM will NOT implement a "whitelist everything" hack like some people here have.
So since any app that gets used with Cornerstone would have to be approved by its author for use with Cornerstone, it then becomes an issue of - too much effort for too little reward. (There were, as I understand it, also some issues with Cornerstone's maintainability in the long-term, but the primary reason was application compatibility issues.)
I use multi window with every app (except games of course) and it is a breeze to use. Apps resize themselves very nicely. For me it is pure bliss to be able to have plume running side by side with tapatalk and use pop up browser for links. My dish anywhere app also works great with it as well. How can there be app compatibility issues if there are android phones with many dif size screens out there, basically the same issue no? The htc chacha had a 2.6 inch screen yet was google play certified. Thats not even half our screen size.

What entropy said
In the end one Dev can build it.. Get 2 - 300 DL then users move on and the interest fades away I personally been there done that.. Not for corner stone in particular but the idea is dev are building what they wish to run in their device .. Maintaining it becomes lots of effort for minimal results/interest..
Android is moving so fast great things get left behind all the time..

This is reminiscent of the times when webpages slowly started adapting to multiple devices, and thus was born the concept of responsive designs.
Previously they were built as per a definite CSS structure (Fixed-960 Grid it was called) But with analytics pointing to more and more variety in viewports, designers were forced to re-think their strategy towards responsive structures.
There were many who had a penchant dislike for it though. Creativity - they argued - suffered a lot at the hands of flexibility. Not many would know, but the introduction of responsive designs was ALSO one of the major reasons for the demise of flash-based websites.
So again, it boils down to how things pan out in the near future. If something similar comes along the way with regards to multi window development, and the demand/advantages far outweigh the difficulties in adapting code - I see no reason why the project could be back on track.

Yeah, but the screen size NEVER CHANGED.
It's changes in aspect ratio and dimensions that can do really bad things - and in some cases, the Play Store (I believe) can actually serve up different APKs depending on the device.
With any normal device, the app knows, from the beginning, what environment it will be running in. With multiwindow - it can have its environment changed out from under it.

the play store cannot let you have different apk for same app but it can let a developer upload app com.app.xhdpi
and com.app.hdpi (technically separate apps) and let the developer make the first one visible only to large devices
and the later one visible to smaller ones. an xhdpi phone will never be able to install the hdpi app and vice versa
