Hi,
I'm new to this forum so I'm not sure how this works or if I'm posting in the right place so apologies if I'm not.I have a Samsung Galaxy s4. Im from Ireland so I have the I9505 version.
About a week ago, the screen froze and stopped working. Its not cracked or broken and it wasn't dropped. The LCD lights up but the screen will not respond to touch. Everything works as normal: phone receives calls, texts and emails however I cant access them because I cant use the screen.
I got my friends galaxy s4 and connected his screen to it and it worked perfectly so its definitely the screen at fault. I rang Samsung and they gave me the impression it will be covered under warranty. They are sending me out a padded envelope and I am sending the phone to their authorized repair center in Dublin.
My problem is that when testing my friends screen on the phone, I accidentally removed a small clip that holds the front facing camera and proximity sensor down against the sceeen. I didn't realise until it was gone and I cant find it anywhere.
I am sending the phone to Samsung next week and I fear that they will refuse to fix the phone because they will know there was unauthorized access because this clip is missing.
I looked on eBay for a replacement clip but I cant find one. Does anybody know where I can buy one?
Or do you think Samsung will refuse to fix the screen on account of them knowing the phone has been opened?
I would appreciate any help,
Thanks in advance

Hello,
My NS' on 2.3.4 (stock) left side of touchscreen becomes unresponsive at random times on any app or in any mode. Such as, sliding to answer a call, scrolling through contacts, texting, e-mails, market, etc. pretty much everything. In google maps, I can't drag from left to right, but going from right to left, the left side works until you lift your finger.
I sent it to Samsung twice for this issue, the Samsung Tech basically says he updates software and its repaired. I just got it back yesterday from repair and the issue arose within 20 minutes.
Why can't they fix it?
Isn't it a hardware problem?
Could my SIM be bad?
How many times do I have to send it in to get it fixed or replaced?
So far my experience with SAMSUNG Tech support is terrible.
Thanks for any input.
YOU NEED TO RAISE HELL IN THE STORE YOU HAVE ALREADY GIVEN THEM THE OPPERTUNITY TO FIX THE PHONE. tHE SCREEN IS BAD PLAIN AND SIMPLE. sry caps
Update on my NEXUS S in case anyone cares. Basically I called Samsung about 5 times to finally get the customer service person to make some good notes on my phone for their tech to read. I also placed a note in the package telling the tech that the simple "software upgrade" trick did not work twice. I also requested that they replace the touchscreen. I then sent multiple e-mails to the contract repair facility in Plano Texas (RSI) telling them the problem.
Anyway the phone came back with a new touch screen and works properly now. The new screen has a smoother curve to the glass, the old screen looked like it was bent in about 5 places, looked like corrugated roofing tin. I'm not a fan of the curved glass.
So I shipped the phone 3 times to Samsung and they finally fixed in (knock on wood). What a pain to be without the Nexus S for basically a month.
Hi there. I have a pebble blue16gb S3 that's currently on the fritz. Some people are recommending a jtag service to force a stock rom back onto my s3. I've got others that are telling me my emmc chip is probably bad and that a jtag probably won't help my issue at all. Anyway, I've been cruising craigslist and I found a 16gb pebble blue s3 that has a cracked screen. In the pictures I was sent the crack is right down the middle. The guy selling it says the LCD display wont show up at all, but in some pictures the back button and the other button light up as well as the blue notification light on top were working in the picture. He's selling the device for $90. I checked the IMEI he gave me on swappa.com/ESN and its said its ready for activation. I asked the craigslist seller how the device was damaged and he said he got into a car accident going 60mph and he was hit by a drunk driver and the phone hit the dash. I have a buddy of mine who is willing to take the motherboard from this phone and switch it out with my phone, but he expressed concern that the fact the LCD won't display anything and he thinks the motherboard may have suffered some kind of damage in the crash causing the device not to display. He also noted that he has seen phones with cracks all over and the lcd still displays something. Can anyone shed some light as to how much impact a Verizon SIII motherboard can absorb and if its possible for the screen to totally not work, but the board itself be fine? Thank you very much!
Im not sure if this was the right thread to post this question either, but I hope it is. Thanks!
Also just wondering, is the notification light at the top and the lighted back button and the function button by home at the bottom run through the same connection that controls the display?

I repair these devices and I'll say that you should just stay away from an S3 with a blacked out LCD. The repair for the LCD is about $300. Just a cracked glass may run you anywhere from $80-$150 for repair. The motherboard could be damaged, but there is really no way to tell unless the screen is on. I doubt it would be broken, though... I would look at it to see if the metal frame around the screen were bent or warped. If not, I doubt it would be. If the soft keys light up, you should also hear the volume turn up.... this checks to see if the speaker works.
But with a busted LCD... too much cost to fix that and not worth it. May as well buy a new one.

So should I just pass on this craigslist phone? All I wanted was the board from it and switch it out with my motherboard that is on the fritz.
I somehow broke my Nexus 5 in my pocket today. The side buttons still work and it functions normally (gets messages, updates) but the touch screen doesn't work. I was researching possible solutions to fix it. I am wondering if anyone knows if my particular situation can be fixed. What kind of replacement package should i get if i can get one? I've seen ones with the LCD, digitizer for like 60 bucks which is much cheaper than an new phone! I think i uploaded a picture of my broken phone.
Cheers
I have a crack in my display almost exactly like that (roughly in the same place). It broke in my pocket as well (no cracks in the glass). I talked to Google support and it seems like they're willing to replace the phone at no charge but we'll see I guess (hopefully they don't receive the phone and decide it's not covered).
I've got to the conclusion that my S6 have some screen glass 'problems'. Whenever i tilt it the colors change a little, from that yellowish white it goes to some blue accent; and also the botton of the screen is more white then the top. This is very noticeable indoor with brightness on auto, at the outside i don't really notice some of these 'problems'... I know that all of these things are specific to the amoled category but sometime it's irritating.
I've send an email to the carrier from i bought the phone and they told that the phone will be send in service; and replacement its not possible(i have bought the phone online).
My question to you, should i send the phone to the service ? I mean, it is two weeks old.. will it be the same after a screen replacement ?
I'm knox tripped also but i think this it's not gonna be a problem since it's a hardware issue.
Thanks for your time.

If you're knox tripped, then good luck. You still have warranty (in EU at least) but got to fight for it.
I got pink dots all over my front camera (getting worse and worse) and Samsung say the reason of the pink dots is cause of root, even tho there is documentation for it being a hardware issue on SG6.
So well, if Samsung can get you to pay for the repair in any way, they will.
I wouldn't bother. A repair will come back the same or worse.
Colour shift is normal but still one hundred million times better than any LCD. The white balance is AMOLED all the way and they ALL do it (on S6 and note 4).
I would learn to live with it.
Hi
I got my phone on the early release date and it's been great until this morning when my camera has started to play up. The image quality has gone all blury and won't focus unless it's about 2 inches from the screen ? Anyone else had this and any help ?
If you tap the top of the phone when trying to take a photo does it do anything? Maybe the auto focus is faulty?
The camera module is broken.
This problem are very common, either on s7, s7 Edge. It do happens to other branded smartphone as well.
The only way of fixing this is by sending in to warranty for camera replacement. should be done within an hours.
Samsung promises and hold responsibility for providing complete warranty. Any imperfection after warranty process, User have the rights to further issues the problem.
Example scratches during warranty process.
This is very sad.
I have same problem. Im hoping the problem goes away.
Happen to another S model phone before. The camera broke.
The guy had to send it back in to samsung for repairs.
But if you got it from a carrier then you should be able to exchange it with them.
This is a failure of the ois mechanism. Replacement is the only route.
