Good Day everyone,
I am a newbie here.
I am facing a problem. I had a notification that a new update is available for my software. I've downloaded it and installed it. Once the phone was rebooted, there was no signal. I tried several times but as if the phone is dead. Even when i charge it, there is no charging signal. When i press the power on button, a small vibration is made but nothing else.
What to do ? What are the steps? What might have happened?
Thank you for your support.

Try to run it through the software repair feature in PC Companion. Hopefully PCC can fix it for you. www.sonyericsson.com/pccompanion
In PC Companion go to > Support Zone > Software update > Repair phone.
Do this while phone is not plugged in via USB.
Now follow on-screen instructions.
Let me know how it goes.
I've been searching for a thread in wich this was allready posted, but I couldn't find one, anyways... as the title suggest I bought a SE Wt19i unlocked it's only 1 day old and it keeps reseting at random intervals, somewhere like 20 resets every 5 hours, I've done a factory reset, I've done a format SD card, I've searched the topic on official sony ericsson site and alot of people have this issue and sony suggested we take the device back to the shop and ask for a replace, well gj sony but a problem that occurs on more than 1000 devices is no coincidence.
If any of you found a resolve I would appriciate it if you would share it with us SE Wt19i loosers .... btw I did 3 factory resets, and I updated the phone
Carrier : unlocked
Having the same problem here. Nothing seems to help. I even reinstalled the phone software and it still restarts around 10 times every hour.
it stopped reseting as soon as I pluged in it's original card with 2Gb, now it's not really a walkman... with ony 2 Gb or music , so the issue may be the speed class of the card.
I'm using the SE provided MicroSd and I still have the problem. The only workaround I found for this problem is to switch on Tethering. Your battery will drain fast, but at least it doesn't have random reboots.
This one is actually new to me. I spend many hours each day in the official Sony Ericsson Support Forum and I have not seen this before.
If the only way to get the phone working again is to turn on tethering something's clearly wrong.
If you already have updated or repaired the software with PC Companion I suggest you try to start the phone in safe mode just to rule out the possibility of a 3rd party app/service causing this. Press and hold the Menu button during start up to get it in safe mode. This will bypass all 3rd party stuff. If the reboots still occur after this you might want to consider sending the phone to a service center.
I should also add that we're soon going to start a roll out of a new software (planned for week 2). This is meant to improve the memory handling to avoid reboots. Not sure your problem is related to this though but it could be an idea to wait for this to see if it solves the problem.
Check with the local support teams to get info on the service locations.

Hello Markus,
How can this be new to you when this is the exact same problem mentioned in the Neo V reboot problem thread in the Sony Ericsson Support Forum that you regularly reply to? In fact, I got the solution of preventing restarts by using tethering from another of the Neo Reboot threads in SE Support forum.
I've tried everything, running in safe mode, re-installing the software, repairing, uninstalling the uninstallable pre loaded apps. Nothing works.
The fixes that do work drain the battery in like 4-5 hours. But, this is a better option than having random reboots every 5 minutes.
I've found that having the walkman player always on and playing in zero volume seems to stop the reboots. Also, using an application that always keeps the display on also seems to solve the problem. Both these methods use battery too much and the phone heats up. I only hope that the update you're going to release on the 2nd week of January fixes this problem or you'll see a mass of SE Xperia handsets returning to Sony Ericsson.
I don't know why everyone says this, but this is not an uncommon problem. 2 of my friends have the same problem and both use different Xperia models. The problem is so common that searching for 'Xperia Reboot' or 'Xperia Restart' on google gives a ton of results pointing to discussion threads such as this.

The update does not help WT19i stop reboot.
(4.0.2.A.0.58)
What else can I do?
@darklift,
I have of course seen the issue or reboots since I've been quite active and keep track of that thread in our own forum. I can however not recall the tethering option to be a working solution. Fully possible someone have said it before but I can't remember that.
@thuhue,
That's a different update.
The software version we release to fix the reboots with is called 4.0.2.A.0.6x.
The global roll out will start next week.
Hey man, where did you get it unlocked from?

Not sure I am right, but I think you should use Sony's update manager (or whatever the name is) to flash the watch, or an other software, but mind if I ask, how did you get into this situation, what was the last thing you did when the watch was working?

Did it do the update?
So there I was watching a performance. Then I casually checked the time and BAM it was still stuck at 7:30 hen it was about 8. Then i did some quick research on my phone and saw about SUS then when I went home i tried and finally got it to connect. It was then stuck at about 1% and not moving at the installing (It said there was an update). Then overnight as my cmputer went to sleep the watch suddenly turned dead. It is now dead
List of Apps I installed:
WatchIt
TicTacToe
Smart Camera
Slideshow
Runtastic
Music Player

Hangouts
Gmail
Email
Custom Watch

Re: Flash F5 Message
I tried to update my smartwatch but it did not updating my watch, for thanks god my watch is working well..
After much cursing and gnashing of teeth, I got the Sony Update Service software to recognize the watch. I noticed that when I powered up my (bricked) SW2, the SONY logo would flash for a split second on the screen before the dreaded "Flash FS" message. So after powering down the watch, I plugged it in to my PC and hit the power button several times quickly. This triggered the windows device manager to successfully recognize the device as a Sony Smartwatch and the update software room it from there. About 10-15 minutes later... my SW2 was working again.

How did you do this? In my case sometimes it recognises it as "SmartWatch 2" using your solution, the Windows (8) installs it's driver and than it sais no device drivers installed in the device manager and neither the PC Companion notices it.
Could you help me somehow please?

To flash it power it on then quickly insert the USB. Should come up with something like a progress bar box. Utility should detect it maybe??
Any luck?
I've got it working by inserting USB just when SONY logo appears. It started normally the watch as if it never happened any FLASH FS screen. But after around 20 seconds of happiness, it froze again but this time I just cannot get it started again. Any other advice?
Thanks

Flash fs problem
please help Flash FS i tried so many time but its still showing Flash Fs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783426&page=8&nocache=1
This can be solution for Flash FS message when SUS is dead
and to get into DFU mode:
2. Turn the watch off.
3. Insert the cable into the watch and than into the USB-port of your computer (it is faster to insert the cable into the computer USB-port than into the watch).
4. Press and hold the watch power key for half a second immediately after you insert the cable into the USB-port (if the charging [in our case displays: Flash FS] begins return to the 2 step).

No I haven't seen that on mine, and I have run my battery down numerous times. As suggested above, I would look at restoring your phone or factory resetting it
I have gone through 3 Z3s and on 4th now, all were replaced for cosmetic reasons, none had any stability issues. All were rock solid no crashes.
Try removing all non factory installed apps, if that does not work try resetting to factory defaults. If that also fails then maybe your firmware/NAND got corrupted... happened to me with an HTC One X before (NAND). I highly doubt the worst case scenario though.
Thanks everyone. Ill do a factory reset today and see if that helps
Cheers
Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has had this issue... I've Googled, and some users have experienced this issue. So far I have factory reset my phone, but that has yet to work.
I'm getting random crashes, sometimes using the phone and sometimes while it's just sitting there... It happens like at least 10-15 times a day and I've only had my phone for like 4 days.

Same. Struggling.
i had my first random reboot yesterday phone was just sitting there.
hasn't done one since.
I've had the phone for 4 days (Software 23.0.A.2.93) and it randomly reboots 2-3x a day.
I've had the same problem as well. Sent it to Sony for repair. They said it had something to do with the software. Asked for more information, they said an app was causing it (I use normal applications: FB, Line, reddit, skype, dropbox). Sony said they "repaired" my phone by erasing all my data and re-installed the firmware. Happened AGAIN TODAY. BTW it shows up as a "system restart" in the diagnostics menu. Is this the same for everyone experiencing this? Btw i used the pc companion to repair my phone as you have mentioned before sending it to Sony; that DIDN'T work either
I'm seeing this maybe once every 1-2 days, after reading the program list above I'm trying removing Skype to see if that's causing issues.

Suggest you to update to .98 or even .105, do a factory reset and check how it works afterwards.

Yes, correct. I'm running on .98 since day one and never had any unintended reboots at all. As we speak, my Z3C runs since about 10 days.

How do I do that though? There are now more issues now. The necessary phone applications themselves are now crashing (ie. contacts, clock, walkman) I've included a photo for you. My current plan is to send my phone back to Sony for repair once again. The problems seem to appear out of nowhere.
Thanks in advance

Please use the search function, it's been explained a countless times already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/ftf-stock-firmwares-xperia-z3-models-t2886061
I did a repair (still on .93) and it seems ok since yesterday but we'll see. Here are the instructions Sony sent me:
Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia™ Online Support.
We have an extended guide that should help you fix the issue on your phone, please follow the instructions carefully:
Visit this link:
sonymobile dot com/us/tools/pc-companion/
Click on Download PC Companion
Run the software and install it
Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer
1. No matter what the program says do not connect the phone until you complete step 9
2. In the welcome screen you will see the different modules available for you including the "Support Zone" option. Click on "Start" below it.
3. On the next page Click on "Start" under "Phone Software Update"
At this point if you get an error stating that "Unable to install update components" or "Server is busy" , then please proceed to step 12
4. The program will say that there is no phone connected. Click on the option below that reads: "Repair my phone" the program will issue you a warning about the content that you will lose during the update
5. Choose the option to continue.
6. The program will issue a final message warning you of possible data lost during the update. Click on the checkmark and then on "Next".
7. After that, the program will download the necessary information (5 to 6 minutes) and it will present you with a list of phones.
8. Choose your phones model from the list then click on "Next" then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (don't connect it yet)
At this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC.
9. Connect the cable to the PC not to the phone, then while pressing and holding the indicated button (in the steps on screen an specific button will be shown for you to press on the phone) connect the cable to the phone and keep holding the indicated button until the program says "the update of your phone has started..." (in some cases a message of "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "the update of your phone has started..." is shown.)
10. If you failed to follow the steps correctly the phone will turn on and it will request that you "Proceed with the following steps, slide down the notification bar", If this happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 9).
11. If the phone is connected properly, PC Companion will proceed with the update ( It will tell you to let go of the back key) then wait for the update to finish and follow instructions on screen to disconnect the unit.
Dear Customer,
12. If "Unable to install update components"
1. Close PC Companion
2. Install Java from: java dot com
3. Start PC Companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more.
Note: If you wish only to update the unit wait for the program to open and then select the quick link on the upper left corner that says "Update Phone/Tablet" and follow the instructions to perform the update. (the PC may request for the phone to be placed in Mass Storage mode. Do this by going into Settings>Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode)

Same here.
i have the same problem but i have rooted min with Glade rom, works fine except for the random reboot.
Hi all,
2 days ago I purchased brand new Z3 and today the device started restarting every 15-20 minutes. There are no external factor that seems to be causing it – the phone restarts without being in use. What I’ve notice is that it’s doing a “Soft Reboot”.
Some additional info – after the phone was turned on for first time it asked for an Software Update to Android 5.0. After installation it rebooted and asked for another update. The heaviest app that is currently running is Facebook.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as I would like to avoid waiting for two weeks for the service centre to do something, that I can also do.
Thanks!

Hi all,
Firstly I've looked on all black screen help pages but none of them help. Last week my galaxy j3 2017 model died. The screen is just black, but the phone 'works', and by that I mean if I ring it the phone rings, notification sounds still happen but screen is still just black. I've charged it, let it die, tried all combos of reboots but nothing. Using an online guide, if I plug a USB keyboard in and tap my code followed by enter I hear the phone unlock (yes it has a pin screen lock). I then tried to plug into a laptop, but using Windows explorer, my phone is there but going into the phone, the folder is empty. I'm guessing this is because I can't enable file transfer etc on the phone. I'm at a loss wgag I can do. Samsung said I can take it to a shop to be fixed, but I have a few weeks of data and files I want to try and rescue first. Can anyone offer any advice please?

your screen is dead on your phone and your not going to be able to get the data from your phone. All you can do is send it in to samsung.
Ok, thank you. At least with this confirmed I can just get it fixed and hope a file recovery tool may help. Thanks again.

If you haven't taken this for repair yet then you can confirm a dead screen if you see nothing at all when restarting the device.
However it IS possible to rescue the data. There are various ways to do this with a blank screen. Obviously the easiest is via MTP. There is also Smartswitch.
Adb is also an option.
This would be trial and error until you hit the right spot to enable usb transfer.
