**[p999 G2X ONLY) PRE-ALPHA- NO SUPPORT - KNOWN BUGS (NO CALL AUDIO)**
AS ALWAYS 'A BIG THANKS' TO THE CYANOGENMOD TEAM FOR ALL THEY DO. WITHOUT THEM NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE.
There will be no support provided for this release as it is still undergoing development. Do not contact support regarding bugs as we are well aware of the current state of each Service.
This is in Pre-Alpha so expect things to not work. This is a barebones Jelly Bean 4.1 AOSP build. Not everything will be functional to its usual capacity.

~THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED AND SUPPORTED US~
Several Known Issues / Things Not Working:
Code:
*Audio doesn't work
*Data tends to cut off at times. A "hot-reboot" usually fixes it and this is due to audio not working.
*Phone will not enter 'Sleep Mode', again due to audio malfunctioning.
*Mobile Data Network: Data IS working, but you might need to cause the phone to hot-reboot (...easiest way is by connecting to non-encrypted network, which in turn usually fails.) It's due to a SIM-card thing...
*On cold-boot the SIM card status is not correct.
AGAIN, SOME STUFF NOT WORKING - THIS IS A SNEAK PEEK -> NO COMPLAINTS, or BUGS, or EMAILS OR ANYTHING SIMILAR THAT GIVES US THE FEELING YOU DONT LIKE IT. -

EAGLESBLOOD™ ROM INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS:
========================================
**IMPORTANT** MUST READ CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW COMPLETELY.
1. Make a full backup of your current ROM. Then copy it over to PC if you wish.
2. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM). *Note* You should always flash CWM using a USB Cable and NVflash; do not 'flash CWM from the ROM Manager app'.
3. To begin start by clicking "Wipe User Data/Factory Reset", this will wipe all data off of the phone's memory (not SD card though).
4. Now click "Wipe cache partition".
5. Then go down to "Advanced > Wipe Dalvik cache".
6. Choose Install zip from "External SD Card". Wait for that to complete and confirm you see an "Installation Complete" message.
7. Now, you must flash the correct Google Apps - GAPPS JB (gapps-2012xxxx.zip) ...link below.
Once the gapps are installed you can now click "Reboot System". Failing to complete all of these instructions precisely can potentially leave you stuck in CWM Recovery until you manage to build your way back out. This is not fun, trust us.
9. Done. Enjoy your new ROM!

Hey a quick question... Does that mean that when we will have official ICS or drivers we might get a fully functional Jelly bean?

It should if a phone can operate ICS then it should. Galaxy nexus had ICS and now it has JB.

But I think Nexus got the official update from Samsung.
In our case however, we can hardly expect ICS from LG let alone JB.
So I do hope once we have ICS (fingers crossed) the devs here would be able to make a fully functional JB out of it.
The reason I am asking it because the recently we saw the Google now app ported to ICS but they couldn't get the talk back to work, as I read somewhere it was JB kernel specific.
Possible audio fix

camera doesn't work [i know its pre-alpha, just pointing it out],
Does not read external sd card
Two google music apps [music and google music]
Google Now/ Voice Search Fcs
Flashed back to paranoidandroid rom, will keep a eye out for this

Should be able to use Twrp
Kineto.apk not a priority at this point
Camera doesn't work cause of the SD card

We might consider removing aroma in the feature.

I was getting scared about 4.1 Jelly Bean! With no word from Ricardo but ah you're doing well it looks great!
Do the camera's work? No mention of camera's and the HAL has had alot of work since 4.0.x just interested be good to know, since I'm not flashing until the other major bugs are gone.
Also I don't see why Wi-Fi calling isn't an extra flashable zip I always have to uninstall it as its no use to me.
BTW when you get to your releases that are for me at least very heavily skinned will there be a way to de-skin it cause that's what puts me off about eagles blood and Hellfire roms .....
Finally will I be able to use my internal storage as an SD card at some point since my SD card reader is physically broken so otherwise my phones crippled without that ability
Cheers sorry for the moaning just questions
Thank you EB. No camera no WiFi no audio no Google search and no SD card detection. Lightning fast

But seriously, I got sound working to an a certain point using Cm10 sources and merging them in EB, I can hear ppl but they can't hear me only on speaker phone tho, weird, I got ringtones going for me also, but I doubt this well be interesting to EB as they build from source, So I don't think I can share

Awesome work guys, I claimed an article on this thread, let's see if I can finally get you guys on the portal. Everyone else, it's been pretty clean and refreshing around here and lot of the trouble makers have died, or moved on. We don't need or want any replacement smart asses. Also, I talked to Ricardo earlier at length and he now says lg is having problems with Nvidia, what I mean by this is that lg is experiencing the same thing we are. They are ready and wanting to release ics and drivers, but Nvidia is being Nvidia. We might not get drivers after all. Thanks for the thread space guys, back on topic, I noticed reboots when trying to connect wifi.

Kernel: GPLv2 = must make source available on request when distributing a binary, on XDA we consider posting a rom a request for source code, you normally get a few days.
ROM/recovery/most other bits and bobs google wrote/used from elsewhere: Mostly under the apache or BSD licenses, this means that as long as you GIVE CREDIT to whoever's code you are using, you are free to use the code without giving out source.
This means they are within their rights to not give out source for the OS.
So now lets get back on topic and stop flaming, I had to spend another 15min cleaning up this mess rather than sleeping, so thanks for that.

CyanogenMod 10 is a free, community built distribution of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.

* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please

* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
This phone isn't my daily driver, so I only tested a few things, and only slightly:
Known Bugs:
Screen of Death: This is a CM10 bug, many other devices are afflicted, not just the blaze. Many people are working hard to fix this.
UI action sounds may not work at first. Adjust the volume with the volume buttons, the sounds will then work fine. This is a known CM10 bug
BLN is wonky. Working on getting us merged with the stable version native to CM10.
Fixed 20121103+ : WiFi generates a random MAC address with each boot.
Camera: Flash can't be disabled
Camera: Storage location cannot be changed. This isn't really a bug, however if the interest is great enough, I might try and figure out a way to change the system default storage location.
Other things maybe? Discuss in the thread...
How to get it:
Download: http://get.cm/?device=t769 (ChangeLog)
Or download it directly through ROM Manager or CM Updater.
Google Apps:
Make sure to download and install the JellyBean GApps
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO DO A FACTORY/DATA RESET BEFORE USING THIS. This isn't up for debate. A reset of the dalvik cache helps too. If you do a dirty flash, please make sure to do a dalvik cache wipe. If you have searched this forum for a problem and haven't found it, please do a nandroid backup, then a full factory/data reset and check to see if you still have the problem. If it still persists AFTER the factory/data reset, then report it here.
Thank You!

The buttons is a fairly big issue... Figuring out how to get back home is troublesome to say the least. Plus, my zip doesn't have the right drivers baked in... I may re-package and include a link to a zip to enable the soft keys (like on a galaxy nexus), just to get some navigation....
I can't really test calls since this isn't my regular phone. I know the external speaker works because I get sound effects... lemme see about re-packaging. Maybe I'll upload something more tonight.
Otherwise, the front and rear cams work, the rotation is proper.. there are things in the log cat about the compass not working, I'll figure that out soon enough...

No... I'm fairly sure I borked the driver.
Part of the thing I did was to actually forward port the T769 (and I577, need to let those guys know...) changes from the Samsung source releases into the CM kernel proper.

I can tell you that the link I posted was/should be safe. I'm sorry Norton doesn't think so, but a number of others have downloaded and installed the ROM. The md5sum for the zip file is posted on the first page of this thread. If you're concerned, simply download the zip and then verify the md5sum. As long as they match, you should be safe.
Guys I am sorry but didn't mean to offend anyone.

Not concerned though but how do I verify the md5sum?

search for "WinMD5", it's a windows based md5 summer. You can put in the file and your expected md5 value, it will tell you the actual value as well as if they match.
It's generally good idea to verify md5 sums just to make sure you don't get bad flashes, especially with Radio's.
Turn off security then download, this ROM working for me, all except touch button
cm10 *****ES
Folks, I uploaded a temporary fix for the nav keys on the first post.
This is to be flashed from CWM ON TOP of an existing CM10 install. It overwrites the kernel, modules, and replaces the build.prop to remove the soft navbar.
This is temporary because I basically used the Samsung released drivers for the hard keys. I need to figure out what the hell I need to do to port into the cm10 version of the driver.
As a consequence of being the stock driver, there's no BLN or other niceties. Just the typical stock behavior. I don't know how this will play with the CM specific key backlight settings.
Enjoy!
If u call that temporary, then dats damn good bro..

You could probably do it if you just pull the kernel and kernel modules... you might be able to get something going that way... you'd have to watch a logcat to figure out which other libraries you'd have to copy in.

Good question ... the answer is yes, you can flash your old recovery back to the device with the newer recovery from this thread. Then from there, you can go to your nandroid from your previous ROM.
I'm not sure I'd try to use this recovery to restore a previous CWM backup. Honestly, I haven't tested that to see what would happen.
So for now, here's what I would recommend you do if you want to have a known good backup to revert to ...
1. Take a backup with your current recovery.
2. Flash the new recovery from the OP
3. Reboot to new recovery
4. Flash Alpha1
5. Profit ...
To revert back:
6. Flash your old recovery
7. Reboot to old recovery
8. Format /data, /system and /cache
9. Restore your backup
That should get you back to where you were. It isn't ideal, we know. But right now we wanted to get this build out to you guys - it's been long enough.
For what it's worth, I've been running this as my daily driver for almost three weeks now. The only major issue I've had, and it's really not a big deal, is that Focal doesn't work.
Quick question @car vs driver . . . in the settings I tapped Selinux status and it changed from Permissive to Enforcing. . may I ask what that is for ?
EDIT: for anyone who has this same question read this > http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/SELinux/Tutorials/Permissive_versus_enforcing

It's been only a few minutes but so far so good! I have successfully let google restore my apps and have even tried the Camera app which is working pretty good with the only thing not working is 1080p videos. I have not tried making a call or the new focal app, but great job! I flashed the newer Gapps 8/13 even though I saw the post for the 7/29 just so I could try them and see if it works and so far so good. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the quick response CvD. That process is much more ideal than not being able to flash the older recovery and starting fresh again
Next question, and I hope this will be the first and last time it will need to be discussed here but, should we use this recovery to flash any other 4.3 variant of CM? I hate to ask about other roms in this thread, even if it is somewhat indirectly, but I figured that it will eventually need to be answered at some point, and want to make sure that the source of the recovery is the one to give the answer. Hopefully, being discussed so early in this thread, it will be seen by everyone and won't need to be asked again. (wishful thinking)

I'd say yes, with one caveat ... it should only be used to flash 4.3 ROM's that have the SELinux code in the kernel. That's where the major difference is. Worst case really would be a reboot of doom from what I've seen so far.
---------- Post added at 11:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 PM ----------
By the way ... I just want to make sure this gets on the first page as well.
Special thanks to @stoopendis on this one. He bravely tested whatever we threw at him with reckless abandon (even when we were risking bricks). Quick question @car vs driver . . . in the settings I tapped Selinux status and it changed from Permissive to Enforcing. . may I ask what that is for ?

IMPORTANT: Leave SELinux status in Permissive mode. If you change it to Enforcing, you will get weird crashes. We still have a lot of work to do to get SELinux 100%.

Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

I seen an article saying delta updates only applies the changes of a new nightly(I never used this). Does this mean that I can go into settings and do my thing, without having to wipe or flash anything?

Basically, it diffs the updates and a button will pop up.
You click that button and it will download a 20~ mb file to update with. It will then automatically boot into recovery and flash it and boot back. Pretty straightforward. Makes it easier for updates.

Funny.
I'm still using my Blaze. I've got a second one that I installed another ROM on during the hiatus. I'm happy to see Carbon back and better (with the updater app and diffs). One question - what bugs remain? speakerphone? camera preview? scanner apps? I know there are *some* apps that can be used despite these bugs (a better camera, qr droid) but curious about the old bug status. Thanks!

Yes, finally!!
When should we start to see the KK nightlies for our device?
It's common (standard?) for KK ROMs on our device to have a problem related to data where APNs don't show up, baseband, etc. Refer to this thread for the fix! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551748
I would consider putting this in the OP, by the way and thank you for the ROM.

That is the question, isn't it. Note II seems to be claiming that he/she found one somewhere. ~Please do tell~

I've never had this issue. It may just be that they are using an old recovery. I have been flashing KK roms with TWRP 2.6.3.1 and I've never lost data or APN

LOL, well there is the port made by @Mod57 over at the old Carbon thread, you could give that a try. I flashed it and it boot and worked pretty much flawlessly, only issue is that I had a random reboot all of a sudden.
Also if you look at Note 2's signature, he has a T-Mo Note 2, and there is currently a nightly for that device. It's just our version t0lteatt that is missing the nightlies.
I love the smell of carbon in the morning...g

2 Questions.
1: Is there anything special I should do prior to going from 4.3 to 4.4. I am currently running MasterX with Devil kernel.
2. What is the best app to run so I can still use my S Pen and write notes?
Thanks

1. I didn't do anything special, just make sure you are running a recent recovery like TWRP 2.6.3.1. Also I recommend you wipe everything, including the internal SD.
2. There are a few threads that give alternatives to TW S-Pen apps. I rarely use the S-Pen but I've used Papyrus and it is really good.

This could be a stupid question, but can anyone here confirm that an AT&T Note 2 with the MK6 btldr can run an AOSP ROM just fine, with everything (including GPS) working fine? After taking the ATT MK6 OTA and re rooting, Jedi Master X1 is the only way I can have working GPS for some strange reason...TIA.
