About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub. and on our Gerrit CarbonDev Gerrit.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.
Who is Team Carbon?

Carbon Team
Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Yes, finally!!
When should we start to see the KK nightlies for our device?

It's common (standard?) for KK ROMs on our device to have a problem related to data where APNs don't show up, baseband, etc. Refer to this thread for the fix! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551748
I would consider putting this in the OP, by the way and thank you for the ROM.

That is the question, isn't it. Note II seems to be claiming that he/she found one somewhere. ~Please do tell~

I've never had this issue. It may just be that they are using an old recovery. I have been flashing KK roms with TWRP 2.6.3.1 and I've never lost data or APN

LOL, well there is the port made by @Mod57 over at the old Carbon thread, you could give that a try. I flashed it and it boot and worked pretty much flawlessly, only issue is that I had a random reboot all of a sudden.
Also if you look at Note 2's signature, he has a T-Mo Note 2, and there is currently a nightly for that device. It's just our version t0lteatt that is missing the nightlies.

I love the smell of carbon in the morning...g

2 Questions.
1: Is there anything special I should do prior to going from 4.3 to 4.4. I am currently running MasterX with Devil kernel.
2. What is the best app to run so I can still use my S Pen and write notes?
Thanks

1. I didn't do anything special, just make sure you are running a recent recovery like TWRP 2.6.3.1. Also I recommend you wipe everything, including the internal SD.
2. There are a few threads that give alternatives to TW S-Pen apps. I rarely use the S-Pen but I've used Papyrus and it is really good.

This could be a stupid question, but can anyone here confirm that an AT&T Note 2 with the MK6 btldr can run an AOSP ROM just fine, with everything (including GPS) working fine? After taking the ATT MK6 OTA and re rooting, Jedi Master X1 is the only way I can have working GPS for some strange reason...TIA.

Any ideas? I then went and wiped again and try to install carbon again and the screen would not work. I could see the notification panal but could not see anything else

Building Beanstalk 4.2.2?

I have zero experience building roms but i have recently switched from an Infuse 4G running the Beanstalk rom from scott.hart.bti. The rom has amazing customizations and too many features to list. It is based on CM10.1. I was hoping maybe somebody could help me port it over to the skyrocket. The beanstalk thread does have instructions for porting to other devices but having zero experience in doing so i thought i should ask for some help and see what other people are willing to do on this as well. The thread is here ->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091900

I did read through that i just wasn't sure if i should post this here or in that thread. I was sort of hoping that somebody who knows how to do this stuff might try to build it as i cant even attempt to start for about a month as i am in the process of moving across the country. Figured if maybe people saw how many options there are in this rom it might spark some interest and get some more variety of roms to choose from (not that the roms available aren't already awesome )

I did notice, I just didn't think you'd appreciate someone else doing your job for you.
Lets keep on topic here ... if the mods want to move this, that's up to them.
And speaking of on topic, build is just about done. Had to restart it twice for a couple minor things that I messed up with the device specific inclusions. The vast majority of packages built just fine though, so it should be too much longer.
I also elected to build it with the Marla kernel, not the stock CM10.1 kernel.

[DISCUSSION] i9505 OFFICIAL CyanogenMod10.2 [4.3]

This is a discussion for anything cm10.2...
As we all know, the newly released cm10.2 for i9505 has no official maintainer yet to handle our silly finds & questions,so i created this thread for all of us migrating & testing cm fanboys & girls to freely dwell on...
For features, functions & all other things we all want to talk about the i9505 OFFICIAL CyanogenMOD 10.2 android 4.3 Nightlys....
Get the ROM --> get.cm/?device=jfltexx
For how to's & What work & not works yet?
Workarounds can be found in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44627299
For the bugs you may find or features acting weird in relation to the rom...pls post it in BillGoss buglist thread for review & reproduction for immediate workaround & fix...
Pls dont flood his thread w/ non bug or far out noob questions...
Talk about it here...
Lets learn from each other, happy bughunting & probing.

-Cyanogenmod & all other device git maintainers
-all testers & users "im one of them" so credits to me too.
-all the noobs attempting to reach their goals & passing the road to cm10.2
-BillGoss for his efforts in his thread...salute.
Just noticed this myself when I went to get the latest nightly and wondered why the file was so much larger than the rest. Awesome news!

Well, the i9300 has it right now, so I don't see how the i9500 will not. Perhaps the i9300 has a more established developer base I guess, but both of them are in the same exynos boat.

is not booting cm 10.2!!!
I got it booting by copying it to external SD first and using standard CWM recovery, not Philz
The two major issues I noticed where the keyboard constantly force closing and no 3G / signal at all.
damn after flash cm10.2 my imei and serial is gone!! please don't install!!
Hi guys, to upgrade from cm 10.1 to cm 10.2, it's better to make a clean install...(factory reset). I have no problem once make that.

Everything is ok after installing via last cwm and some magic
I had two minor bugs:
1. unable to update the software - fixed by readding the google account and cleaning dalvik cache.
2. crashes of keep, play music, google disc and youtube- fixed by reinstalling these programs.
Everything is working but cant enable 3g or 4g data connection.. Calling and SMS works.
I've started a bug list for 10.2 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44627299

apparently we are starting again. taking post #2
so, this thread is apparently just for my builds. since i already made it clear that i am not committed to actively working on the d2vzw, I'm assuming its to force the other devs into making their own threads for their roms.
quick faq:
I will probably keep building these for a while to keep people satisfied until cm releases official nightlies. no promises though
my builds will be given to cammykool, untested for him to post. I do not own a d2vzw, and cannot afford to go buy one. buy me one, and I'll be able to test and fix things.
my builds will almost always be only cm code, what they have pushed to github and fixes waiting to be merged. I don't feel like fixing bugs myself. the devs that actually own this device can do that, and I'll merge it into my builds as needed.
cammy wants me to push out new builds on a weekly basis. i have no idea why he likes my builds so much, but i can handle weekly or more frequent experimental untested builds

SD card was also still broken for me (I'm thinking it might just be my SD card at this point, I'm gonna try out another one), but everything else seemed to work fine.
I thought in the other thread I saw something about CM11 not flashing with TWRP... confirm/deny with this build?
This rom really needed this fresh new start Also, what is different from this build in the op and the 2013-11-13-unofficial by sspencer? Anything fixed in it that isnt in the sspencer build? Thanks
Gonna need a lot more clarity in the OP or else this thread will be exactly the same as the last one. I'll start by adding instructions:
THESE BUILDS ARE NOT 100% OPERATIONAL.
-They boot, I flashed it last night and everything worked for me (front camera, SD card, WiFi..etc) browser FC'd on me once but that might have been something else.
-You will probably get 2 galleries, not sure why or which one to disable, I didn't get that far.
Flash instructions:
-YOU MUST USE CWM, TWRP IS BROKEN
-Factory reset
-Wipe Dalvik / Cache
-Wipe system
-Wipe Data
-Flash ROM
-Boot up, let it sit for a minute
-Reboot recovery and flash the GAPPs in OP
-Reboot and sign in
-Profit.
These were pretty much the instructions last night, and the ones I followed and everything worked fine for me.

I literally just flashed back to 4.3.1 but I ran this build for the past 3 days including the version from yesterday and today. It is seriously close to being able to be used as a DD. TVall, it seems like you are developing this until CM releases so I thought I'd say what wasn't working for me. I did not have the SD card problem but i know many do. I did have these things not working...
1. Certain apps would not reinstall from the Play Store. When I tried it said USB Storage not found
2. When launching Google+ it says network not found retry. I can view Facebook and other apps that have to get on network just fine.
3. Unable to connect to XDA using tapatalk, although I'm not sure that one is rom related as I am now back on 4.3.1 and it is still hit or miss.
4. Overall seems kinda sluggish and i'm sure that will get ironed out as the rom gets more polished. I don't necessarily mean the OS is sluggish but apps are and opening apps takes a little longer
I will probably flash back later or tomorrow as I already miss the launcher but nothing too serious here for me. Like I said it is extremely close to DD status right now and I really liked the ROM and appreciate all of your hard work.
All in all seemed OK expect WiFi and SD card issue, that's the only things I noticed. And (beepea206) yes that is true about the not flashing it with TWRP.

issue was fixed in twrp 2.6.3.1 or 2.6.3.2, i don't remember. twrp 2.6.3.3 fixed bugs in .1.
at the time of this post, i believe 2.6.3.0 is the most recent build officially available for the d2vzw. this is why i prefer the nexus line

this build is made blindly by me. sspencer actually owns a d2vzw and can test and fix things. all i do is build and upload. his builds will be mostly working usually. mine will be just cm and fixes they make.
Download link not working
The download link for the ROM reads this when clicked:
"The file you are trying to download is no longer available.
This could be due to the following reasons:
The file has been removed because of a ToS/AUP violation.
Invalid URL - the link you are trying to access does not exist
The file has been deleted by the user."
I'm running the 4.4 from the older post before this one and would really like to update considering the front camera currently doesn't work on my ROM and may fix a few things. I've the link on multiple browsers and even installed the mega extension and it still doesn't work. Could you reupload?

[N9005] Vanir AOSP Test Builds

The Vanir devs havent started a thread here on xda yet but the builds are being posted on their host and when i asked on their g+ they said they need testers. So feel free to try the builds and post your bugs here or on their g+..
PS- I have nothing to do with the rom itself or the team, I am just sharing so ppl can test it :good:

G+ Link
NOTE - This is for the N9005 and NOT the N900.
Which note 3 does this work with?

Indeedy, I'm in that silly flashing period again! haha, keep going back to Alliance though for the stability

yeah i think most roms will support ALL 3 variants as the differences are very minor. and as for the at&t/verizon varaints, it will be hard for them as they have locked bootloader
PS- i made 3 seperate threads in the n9005/tmo/sprint sections, you are more than welcome here but i would appreciate it if you would post bugs there just incase if they are device specific..

honestly this is my first android phone on which i dont feel like flashing roms, when i first got it i flashed all the different roms/kernels but then i got bored. even now i was on CM for a couple of days(wiothout updating to new builds) and then flashed tw to test a theme.. i will probably flash either CM or Vanir and stick with it.. LOL
I think I'll test CM a few times, (I tried temasek's build) til maybe it's Official/stable, but I'm happy with Alliance and just keeping with sparkyb's developments for now.
Yeah failed trying to flash. Oh well. :/

How is the battery life compared to the other AOSP/AOKP builds etc? - dropping 5-10% per hour idling?
battery is same as other beta rom... i think it s kernel relative... need optimization

Has any features been added since the unofficial release? And if not, will these nightlies finish where you let off?

I seen an article saying delta updates only applies the changes of a new nightly(I never used this). Does this mean that I can go into settings and do my thing, without having to wipe or flash anything?

Basically, it diffs the updates and a button will pop up.
You click that button and it will download a 20~ mb file to update with. It will then automatically boot into recovery and flash it and boot back. Pretty straightforward. Makes it easier for updates.

They're definitely not as active as it used to be, but us hard-core Blazer's try! No, but really, the interaction isn't as good lately.

Funny.
I'm still using my Blaze. I've got a second one that I installed another ROM on during the hiatus. I'm happy to see Carbon back and better (with the updater app and diffs). One question - what bugs remain? speakerphone? camera preview? scanner apps? I know there are *some* apps that can be used despite these bugs (a better camera, qr droid) but curious about the old bug status. Thanks!
