[Q] Note 10.1 + Bluetooth Keyboard&Mouse - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I have one question that I could not find answer on internet. I have note 10.1 and have been using BT keyboard - Canyon, and it has been working flawless with a bit disconnect here and there. But recently I have bought BT Mouse - HP and it works just great. But when they are both connected at same time they both misbehave a lot. If I use mouse my keyboard just dc and it won't respond unless I hit few keys and sometimes keyboard lags/button stuck like "dddddddd...." untill my mouse dc. When my mouse dc keyboard is fine once again and this apply to vise versa but with mouse it is not responded well like move around for 2s late...
So now my question is if there is any program or script that will help with this situation? I know tablets aren't made to be used as PC but on college my battery last for like 9-10 hours while others with laptops cant get 3-5 hours full writting. I can even play games and my battery wont be below 30% when I get home. I have rooted ofc and I am using android revolution HD 9.0 since it is most polished. I dont wanna go to other android stock roms cuzz s-pen does not work well. I do not use pen often but heck, if I have it I want it to work perfect.
I hope someone had similiar situation and had it fixed.
Cheers

I have the same problem. I did not find a solution to bluetooth interference either... so I am thinking to move to usb based keyboard and mouse for better user experience.

Yeq but i want BT i was checking utube for some tips. All i have got is that some brands dont have problem. Most problem cause microsoft products with android on other hand ms mouse is better...so yeah hope someone can help.
Cheers

I have found a way to help it. I bought external keyboard helper for 2€ and it works amazing now. I have also tryed Null keyboard which is free and it basicly just hides ur onscreen eyboard from appearing. Guess this was the problem.
I hope someone will also fix their issue with this 2 apps. Cheers

It's those devices. I have several BT Keyboards and Mice and they work perfectly together. There's no app that can really do anything about stuttering mice or duplicate letters, as the issue is in the RF layer of the BT protocol.

[Q] Wiimote

is anyone using wiimote for playing snes and psx games? if so how do you get it to work? i have the emulators and games installed, i have wiimote installed and bluetooth on. the wiimote is connected within the wiimote app but then when i exit the app it no longer does anything. i just can't get the controller to work in the game.
edit: figured it out, just had to map the keys within the emulator/game
Based on the lack of responses, my guess is gtablet users are not too much of gamers... Also the fact that there are not too many "past a few day" Gtablet owners
I could not get the Wiimote app to see my Wiimote. Bluetooth was on, of course. No fun retro gaming this device was born to provide, it seems. The v-pad for games is too awkward due to display size, device weight and response of the tablet in the corners (where the controls are- is not very responsive).
I was pumped due to the performance, but you are right that controls are not too good..... Need Wiimote to work. I naturally figured it would work, but given some of the other issues, I may be assuming too much.
I probably will return the Gtablet this weekend and wait for a refurb. $400 is too much with screwed up sensor and controller functions not working via blutetooth. $300 is more of a compromise
I get the impression NOTHING was tested on this device. Nothing appears to really work other than USB sticks and even those can not be hotswapped. "USB" must have some other meaning for the OEM of this device.
Even USB keyboards and mice work with the Archos devices. All this power constrained by pi55poor FW.
on zpad the wiimote works great, i got a usb keyboard working too. i really wish someone smarter than me could figure out how we can select other keyboards. anybody?

You're not using TnT 2.0 then (or did they used to work?)? I have tried USB devices with no luck. Ditto on bluetooth input control devices.
You think the keyboard is the root cause for failure on Gtablet in TnT based roms?
I can not even get the Gtablet to see the Wiimote, yet alone map it to work.

usb keyboard worked for me on tnt lite 1.0.2(i'm poretty sure theres a small chance it was zpad). on tnt i can install wiimote, the app will see the wiimote but i can't choose wiimote as my default input because tnt will stay on the tnt stock keyboard. so if there were just a way to choose another keyboard as default it'd be all good. this guy found where the problem may be http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9394102&postcount=3.

i would stay on zpad but i get uids inconsistent message everytime i reboot. it seems real laggy sometimes too. but i love how it is more similar to my incredible than the tnt interface.
I have the same problem with tnt lite
it sees the wiimote
the buttons work
but I can not change the keyboard input so I cant use it either
I have problems with my device - the screen completely stops responding.. im going to take it in and exchange it.. possibly get a refund.. Im not impressed with this.. everytime I run youtube.com it forces the browser closed..
not happy about the market place not displaying all the apps either tons of apps on the market place I use on my phone that dont work / wont install on this device.

A huge reason for this device is old school gaming. No wiimote- no keep (At full price. Better gamble if will get fixed by paying less money).
Seems a fair analogy is the Gtablet has a Ferrari engine, but no tires (laggy UI).... or steering wheel (accelerometer flucked' up), or lights (LCD appears to be mounted upside down due to bad viewing angles).
I could throw in more car analogies about USB and blue tooth issues, but already a rough ride.
After installing zpad it is getting better. I have the device tweeked to the point I like it.. gotta factory restore right now though to get an exchange because of the screen.. one that is done though I think I,can really get used to this.. gotta get flash working though..

i agree as far as playing games. the on screen controls are a joke to actually be competitive in a game. wiimote makes playing old nes or psx game MUCH more enjoyable. i'm thinking this has become a deal breaker for me...

I am going to return mine and get another one with the 60 day holiday return policy. That way, plenty of time to see if a fix is provided and more vulture time for a refurb- While still able to use the G for other stuff
Who knows, the 101 may be better than expected with 2.2........ VS better fix the frickin' bluetooth function on the Gtablet!
There is a way to get the Wiimote activated on TnT Lite - it would require replacing the Settings.apk from the zPad, Nvidia dev kit or even the Vega.
But, there are issues. The ones I've noticed is that the new Settings.apk cannot change the brightness controls, and that new widgets cannot be created on the homescreen after the change - and this is why I leave the TnT Settings.apk in the Lite Build.

Catch 22
Returned my G yesterday. I will get another one with the 60 day return window for holiday purchases... and hopefully a refurb to boot
Need a controller to work or this device for me is a comic reader and web surfer. The Archos 101 will cover that and games.... just not PSX too well, but at least controllers work with the 101.
Perhaps we will see a stable FW build where everything works (not CM)- including things broken by Viewsonic's apparently semi-clueless OEM dev team.
I like how the Gtablet maps apps (that force data to microsd) to go the internal space, so that frees up the microsd for other things. Seems Archos has corrected the app space issue on their Gen 8s, but may have went from one extreme to another. They may have mapped ALL of the 8gb and 16gb for apps. This would mean a lot of wasted space, since 3gb is about max needed fro apps, since all larger apps force data to the microsd anyways.
If Archos mapped as reported, there is about 4.5gb wasted space on the 8gb and 12.5 on the 16gb. Ironic- that they may have gone from one extreme to another. Droid X maps this way too. Wasted space.

G2X as Android TV box

My G2X is currently sitting in a drawer, and I was wondering how well it would function as a dedicated set top box for my HDTV. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and has any suggestions on a good rom to use, as wells as accessories.
I was thinking it would be cool to use it as a DLNA client and possibly set up a NAS server. I would also want a keyboard and mouse for web surfing as well as a game controller for playing games. Netflix is also a no brainer. I can't see any reason why this wouldn't work just as well as those cheap android TV boxes coming out of china.
Any Advice?
This may just be my experience but I have had a lot of trouble getting a stable video from my HDMI on it. It may be the rom (EB, 4.0.4 AOSP) but I'm not so sure this phone was ever designed for that. It's possible, maybe, but I wouldn't hold your breath..
I am able to get stable HDMI output. I played some games with my G2X/P999 attached to an LCD screen via HDMI. I'm using the stock V21Y ROM.
Don't see why it wouldn't work. And with CM7.2 you can use a bluetooth mouse, too.

Any other suggestions on ROMs? Are there any ICS ROMs that have solid 1080p output? I used the HDMI out with cyanogenmod but if I remember correctly it didnt work that smoothly.
With the announcement of full featured XBMC for android I think this could work out pretty well!

More than certain this can be done. I've used my g2x to play Game Boy / Game Boy advance games on my 55 inch TV before with a wii remote. Played for a good 4 hours. Although it did overheat and reboot a few times... Though I'm willing to bet that was due to the fact my phone was OC at 1.4GHz and I don't think that emulator had a frame rate limit. Also I've used it to stream from my NAS using es file explorer and mx player to get the best out of the phone. For streaming I watched 4 episodes of Pokemon approx 170mb each episode in one go.
What I did notice though is that if you are going to be using it for this it will drain the battery faster than it can charge. I've never fully drained the battery while it was plugged in during my use so you are going to have to experiment a little on your own to find out how long it lasts.
I finally went out and bought a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, and I can confirm that with an app called "Blueinput" (free but adds text ass your typing unless you register it for 9.99Eur) it does work. You can hook your phone to a charger, mini hdmi to your tv, connect bt mouse and keyboard via blueinput and sit back and use the phone via bt mouse and keyboard. I went full nerd. I bought a logitech keyboard that was made for ICS and has the google buttons on the keyboard, but I'm running cm7 and they dont register in the bt test section of blue input. The mouse is a little touchy, and there is no pointer, so no ability to click the background and add widgets, but any item on the screen can be selected with the mouse and the right click is back. I don't feel like loading ICS again to test on that, but next time I do I will let you all know how it works.
I also bought the wii classic that connects with a wire to the regular wii remote so I can map even more buttons and can now play snes and probably ps1 and better (haven't tried yet). Still think the G2X out does every other phone I have played with/rooted for people.
I have just purchased a g2x specifcally to try and use as a media player i will remove the mainboard from its case and put it into a 2.5" portabld hdd case for better ventilation, put a heatsink on the cpu and wire up some usb ports for extra connectivity, should it all work ok it should be a good little media box neatly packaged into a set top box type casing.
I do have a couple concerns
I have noticed people videos of mirroring from the g2x it only goes into fullscreen when playting a game or video but the desktop displays small, can that be changed and since I have no use for the lcd I want to have the hdmi permanent only output not mirroring.
will shows some pics of it all working when done, if it fails I will pretend I simply lost interest in the project and never be heard from again.
Just a suggestion, why don't you guys try xbmc android? Only problem is how to control it.

[Q] Noob with an Audio Issue

Hi Guys.
As you can see, this is my first post on here but I'm hoping you can help.
I picked up my first tablet, the great ASUS Infinity TF700T about a week ago, following which I read up on unlocking/rooting
& successfully unlocked, rooted & installed CHROMi-X (v4.6.6, which I have just flashed to v4.6.7). I'm now starting to use the tablet for the things I want to do, one of which is listening to music/watching films, & this is where I've come across my first issue.
I have a pair of superb Logitech V20 USB 2.0 speakers, which are powered by USB. These speakers work perfectly well with my laptop but when I plug them into the full-sized USB port on the Infinity's dock, the sound, which, when playing through the Infinity's own speaker is also perfect, albeit quiet & lacking any real bass, is awful. The audio can be heard but only just, as it is somewhat distorted & there is a loud crackling noise associated it. I've tried using different media players (VLC, MX Player, Meridian) & changing their settings (including decoders where possible) but nothing makes any difference.
Does anyone know what the problem is? I'm going to be gutted if I can't get any decent sound from this device, especially since it's so awesome otherwise :crying::crying::crying:
Thanks in advance
Just to let you know, I just thought to try my wireless USB mouse in the dock's USB port & that works fine (except that rolling the wheel down scrolls the web page up & vice versa but this is also the case when I use the touch pad to scroll. Any ideas why that is or whether it can be changed would be helpful too?
Oh, & if anyone knows how I can get my @ and " symbols to switch back to the correct keys (at the moment, the @ is on the 2 key where the " should be & vice versa), that would also be good?
Cheers :good:

The USB port on the Infinity's dock is not made to power speakers so you wont be able to get them to sound anything much, lucky to even get them working. If you want to scroll, try holding down both button and going up and down with the mouse, maybe it will scroll, because the keypad will scroll whatever it is on when you use 2 fingers on it and go up and down.

Decent Audio?
HI Guys,
So, thanks for your responses so far.
berndblb, in answer to your question about the correct SKU, if by that you mean the bit where I had to choose either US or WW during the CHROMi-X setup, as far as I'm aware, yes, being in the UK, I did choose the WW option but is there any way I can check this or would I have to re-flash my device & start all over again after I've spent the last week setting it all up?
Tylorw1, with regard to my USB powered speakers, it doesn't sound like I have much choice in wanting to use them, which is a shame as they're superb & don't need any additional chargers etcetera, which is great when I'm travelling
However, if that is the case, which I imagine it is because I don't suppose that there's any way to make the tablet's USB power the speakers, what's the best way for me to get decent sound from the tablet? I've read about both Bluetooth & speakers that connect to the 3.5mm headphone socket but are there other types & which is the best option, that is, which gives the best sound?
I've read that the BT speakers can have connection issues but I don't really want to have to clip anything to the tablet & obscure part of the screen whilst I'mwatching films, which is how most of the other type of speakers seem to work. Plus, of course, I'll need to carry around seperate chargers.
Coincidentally, I was about to buy the Bose Soundlink II BT speaker for use with my phone whilst I'm at work. Would you recommend this for the tablet aswell, or is there another speaker/type of speaker you prefer. My main concern is the sound quality. Cost comes a close second but within reason, I can stretch a little if there's something worth stretching for
I hope you can help?

Cool, I'm not a moron It says WW/DEODEX. I'd already checked the options I knew about, so Language is set to English (UK) & keyboard is set to Swiftkey. That said, now I'm puzzled as to why those 2 keys should be the wrong way round. Your suggestion made perfect sense but if I've not made a mistake, why else would they be the wrong way round? As I said, I have installed the SwiftKey keyboard; it couldn't be that, could it?

Ok, I got it.
Under Language & Input, tab the Asus keyboard, set the language to English (UK)
Tap "Defaut", set the hardware keyboard to "on" and select the Asus keyboard as default for it.
I just switched to English UK under Asus keyboard and did have the " where @ belongs (for me)

That's the ROM version, not the bootloader version.
We're cross-posting here :sly:
I also use Swiftkey. I just tried what I believe is your setup:
Swiftkey as default for hard and soft keyboards.
Cannot replicate the switch....
The only way I can find to switch keyboard layout is by selecting the Asus keyboard as default for hard keyboard an changing the language for it to English UK :what:

To rule SwiftKey out, I've just downloaded the US Keyboard & tried typing with it set to UK & then US. Bizarrely, there's no difference either way; I still get @ on the 2 & " where @ should be on the ' ??????

I doubt that Swiftkey would have the functionality to re-assign the association for the hardware keys.
Swiftkey is build for software keyboards mostly, for a great variety of devices.
Probably the Asus keyboard is the only one specifically designed to work for the hardware keyboard.
Try the Google keyboard, play around with settings.... Good luck!

Actually, It Is SwiftKey!
So berndblb, once you got me thinking about bringing the stock keyboard into the equation, I've just played about with it & if I make the stock keyboard the default, my @ & " are the correct way round; if I use SwiftKey, they're the incorrect way round, regardless of whether I have it set to US or UK. Annoying but I'll get over it.
Anyway, I'm getting off topic. The main point of this post was to try & get people's opinions on how I'm going to get the best sound from my tablet, given that I can't use my USB powered speakers due to the Infinity's USB port not having the capability to power them!
Any suggestions/opinions would be most appreciated
Right, when you installed the rom it also included Keyboard Manager (unless you chose not t install it). The reason I include this is to fix this exact problem. Basically in keyboard manager set up the keyboard to be ASUS when you are docked and it will keep your layout rather than switch to the default US that swiftkey forces. Naughty swift key
Perfect

Hey sbdags,
Thanks for that; it worked perfectly. That sort of support from the developer of the ROM I'm using is superb but part of the reason I installed CHROMi-X was that I learned, particularly from reading berndblb's posts, that you possessed a high level of attention to detail, so being a fellow perfectionist, that kind've swayed me I had already looked at the app but didn't fully understand what its' purpose was.
Now I've got that sorted & I'm used to the scrolling difference between the Infinity & my pc, might I ask one more noob question?
I presume you've read that my initial query was with regard to my USB powered speakers not working with my Infinity (that's not the question )? Tylorw1 replied that this was due to the Infinity's USB port not being capable of providing enough power. Given that I believe it unlikely that I could do anything about that, I asked if anyone had any recommendations of what speakers, of what type, would allow me to get the best sound from my tablet. However, whilst my questions about the USB port & now the keyboard have been answered, no-one has mentioned the actual speakers.
Is that because I'm asking in the wrong place, or even on the wrong site, as this is a developers site & you guys only help with software/performance issues? I figured that even if that was the case, that as you guys spend so long with your devices, your advice might be the most reliable & useful?
Thanks in advance
I doubt many users have USB powered speakers that is all. I've certainly never used any. It's possible it's an android USB thing but USB is an international standard so I suspect that it is more low level in the USB driver modules or kernel even.
It's unlikely to be an easy fix. You could try asking Asus if they support USB speakers but it is very possible they won't know.
What DO you guys use?
Thanks for that but if this is the case.......

I'm always amazed that the manufacturers of products seem unable to answer questions about them; if they don't know their products inside out, why be so against other people working things out & telling those who have questions?

Hi Guys,
I just thought I'd let you all know that I finally went for the Bose Soundlink II mobile speaker & it's awesome! If I didn't know better, I'd swear that the sound was coming from a much larger speaker & the accuracy of the sound from it, in comparison to my audiophile home separates system with floorstanding speakers & a 24 inch cubed acive subwoofer, is amazing.
Oh & I'm loving my TF700T more as every day passes
Thanks for all your help so far (& for all the help you'll hopefully provide if I ever come up against any more problems )

Check out this thread. People report that USB audio is working on different devices. But from what I have read you need to be on cyanogenmod.
Hopefully our kernel supports USB audio. I'm sorry I can't check right now if it does.
Good luck

Thanks for that.
Are you saying though, that if I want my USB speakers to work, I would need go flash Cyanogenmod? If so, given that I've now forked out for this superb Bose Soundlink bluetooth speaker & I love Chromi-X, I would be rather loathed to do it.
Thanks for the advice

Using a galaxy s6 like desktop pc.

Hello everyone. Recently I was tasked at work to redesign and office space and attempting to use a program to lay out and then provide a 3d rendering of the proposed space. turned out to be a nightmare for me. I work in a facility that is not updated their computer systems since 2005 I ended up making everything work but I had to do it on my phone. My question without HML support is there any way to turn a smartphone reasonably to function like a desktop PC?
So far all I have found is Microsoft's miracast. Most likely have to buy a bluetooth keyboard mouse.
But I want to know if anybody else has tried this what worked what didn't. My goal would be to plug my phone into my monitor at work so I can actually do something. so HDMI is a must.
Hardware found:

what do you need to do at work and why didnt you onsider a hromeast?
Chromecast requires a wifi router. Miracast the phone communicates to the dongle directly. This removes some variables you can not plan for ie. Crappie or no wifi. I only need an HDMI display, a miracast device and my phone and I can work, display, present. Ideally with the two items that fit in my pocket. Especially without having to try and sign on to a WiFi network that may or may not work. Making it so I could walk into any room plug it into the TV connect with my phone and begin.
To be honest with you I recently got into it with my boss. I told him that I can do more on my phone than on the s*** computers they give us. And I kind of want to prove it.

This would be really cool. Only phone I have known of that has these features is the old Motorola atrix. Maybe look into one of those new devices like IBM's pc stick. It's basically a donggle that plugs in via hdmi and as a full OS installed on it.
Today I tested the screenbeam 2 http://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-ScreenBeam-Wireless-Receiver-SBWD60A01/dp/B00O14JG2Y
Watched transcendence and great picture only got jumpy 2/3 times. Very minor lag. Some ppl reported the dongle gets hot this is true. Uses a lot of battery wifi direct phone was placed on a wireless charger and still dropped 20% during the hour plus movie. Tomorrow I'm testing a method of making the display more "desktop like" for my proposed use at work. Need to connect bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Along with some phone system tweeks. I could not get connected to my chromecast without the router.
Still looking for input from anyone who has tried this.

Question S-Pen App for Using as a Mouse?

I checked the play store and no luck but does anyone happen to know of an app that I can use the S-pen as a mouse so I can point and click/tap from a distance?
Some of the Samsung apps can.
In settings search for "air actions"
Options vary depending on the app.
Universal spen mouse app
I haven't tested it...

I found that on a Google search already. It isn't compatible with either the device itself or the version of Android on it. I have seen the air actions, but I'm looking specifically for something that will let me use it while my phone is several feet from my face and I'm basically using the pen as an air touchpad.

Unfortunately, the S Pen isn't designed to work as a mouse for than a centimeter from the screen. The proximity sensor on the screen is the limitation.

It's an older app. Saw it first years ago, had forgotten about it.
Yeah I don't think that's happening. Air moves doesn't work that detailed, the gyros sense gross movement not fine.
I find that feature annoying and don't use it on my N10+'s, maybe the newer spens are better at it.
I'm good with the bt remote and other display based tricks though.

So then a change of pace for the question.... Is what I'm describing possible with something BESIDES the S Pen?
I've seen gyro mice before, would they work with the phone as a point and click cursor?
I actually just plugged a mouse into the phone, and the cursor appeared and I was able to move the mouse and click with it. I didn't know that was even possible, but I do have a gyro mouse that I'm going to test out tomorrow. Thanks!

Yeap, that works. It's a pretty cool trick.
The only hitch is having something hanging out of the C port. If you could use the phone's built in bt to link up with the mouse that be cool. Sounds like it should be possible but never heard of that being done that I can recall. However I haven't looked into it.
I'm still learning tricks that my N10+/Pie can do

Yeah it's a really nice feature. Honestly, my use case is so niche anyway. I tend to get a lot of massages(better than drinking or gambling, right?) but work from home and do so during work hours. So when I lay on the table, I can now put my phone on the ground and use an air mouse to continue to work

Just like Dex except it's wireless, uses wifi.
I'm still running on Pie on my N10+ so I don't have it. Lol, I never tried Dex as don't need it, I package disable it too... guess I should test it
If you can use it, you might like it.

That is because Android has supported mouse and keyboard (both BT and wired) for several years now. At least since 2017 when the Note 8 was released. Probably longer. I was doing it with a Windows Phone back in 2015 with Microsoft Continuum.
You just can't use the S Pen as a mouse more than a centimeter or so from the screen. It would cool if you could, but the way the current S Pen works is not feasible. That goes for DeX mode too. In DeX mode you can use the phone as a mouse, however, you would need to either touch the screen with the S Pen (or finger) or no more than a centimeter with the S Pen.
Honestly, spend a little more and get a decent BT mouse. That way you won't have to worry about wires. On a side note. The S Pen does work very well as a remote camera trigger. That is purely BT and you can trigger the shutter at 30ft or so.

I definitely do use it as a remote camera trigger, and it's quite nice. Can a Bluetooth mouse sync up to the phone directly or will it still need to connect to a dongle first?

It can connect directly, no wires needed. Some older BT mice may have issues. By older, I mean more than 4 or 5 years old.
Fun fact: If you have a newer Samsung laptop, you can connect your phone to it and control the phone from the laptop. I can do it with my Galaxy Book2 Pro 360. I can also use my Tab S7 as a second screen for my laptop.

One final tidbit. The S22 Ultra also supports BT keyboards.
