Question S-Pen App for Using as a Mouse? - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

I checked the play store and no luck but does anyone happen to know of an app that I can use the S-pen as a mouse so I can point and click/tap from a distance?

Some of the Samsung apps can.
In settings search for "air actions"
Options vary depending on the app.
Universal spen mouse app
I haven't tested it...

I found that on a Google search already. It isn't compatible with either the device itself or the version of Android on it. I have seen the air actions, but I'm looking specifically for something that will let me use it while my phone is several feet from my face and I'm basically using the pen as an air touchpad.

Unfortunately, the S Pen isn't designed to work as a mouse for than a centimeter from the screen. The proximity sensor on the screen is the limitation.

It's an older app. Saw it first years ago, had forgotten about it.
Yeah I don't think that's happening. Air moves doesn't work that detailed, the gyros sense gross movement not fine.
I find that feature annoying and don't use it on my N10+'s, maybe the newer spens are better at it.
I'm good with the bt remote and other display based tricks though.

So then a change of pace for the question.... Is what I'm describing possible with something BESIDES the S Pen?
I've seen gyro mice before, would they work with the phone as a point and click cursor?

I actually just plugged a mouse into the phone, and the cursor appeared and I was able to move the mouse and click with it. I didn't know that was even possible, but I do have a gyro mouse that I'm going to test out tomorrow. Thanks!

Yeap, that works. It's a pretty cool trick.
The only hitch is having something hanging out of the C port. If you could use the phone's built in bt to link up with the mouse that be cool. Sounds like it should be possible but never heard of that being done that I can recall. However I haven't looked into it.
I'm still learning tricks that my N10+/Pie can do

Yeah it's a really nice feature. Honestly, my use case is so niche anyway. I tend to get a lot of massages(better than drinking or gambling, right?) but work from home and do so during work hours. So when I lay on the table, I can now put my phone on the ground and use an air mouse to continue to work

Just like Dex except it's wireless, uses wifi.
I'm still running on Pie on my N10+ so I don't have it. Lol, I never tried Dex as don't need it, I package disable it too... guess I should test it
If you can use it, you might like it.

That is because Android has supported mouse and keyboard (both BT and wired) for several years now. At least since 2017 when the Note 8 was released. Probably longer. I was doing it with a Windows Phone back in 2015 with Microsoft Continuum.
You just can't use the S Pen as a mouse more than a centimeter or so from the screen. It would cool if you could, but the way the current S Pen works is not feasible. That goes for DeX mode too. In DeX mode you can use the phone as a mouse, however, you would need to either touch the screen with the S Pen (or finger) or no more than a centimeter with the S Pen.
Honestly, spend a little more and get a decent BT mouse. That way you won't have to worry about wires. On a side note. The S Pen does work very well as a remote camera trigger. That is purely BT and you can trigger the shutter at 30ft or so.

I definitely do use it as a remote camera trigger, and it's quite nice. Can a Bluetooth mouse sync up to the phone directly or will it still need to connect to a dongle first?

It can connect directly, no wires needed. Some older BT mice may have issues. By older, I mean more than 4 or 5 years old.
Fun fact: If you have a newer Samsung laptop, you can connect your phone to it and control the phone from the laptop. I can do it with my Galaxy Book2 Pro 360. I can also use my Tab S7 as a second screen for my laptop.

[Q] Gtab as a monitor (is it possible?)

Hi, just had an idea and I thought I'd post it to see if there is any apps like this or if it is even possible?
Would it be possible to use a tablet pc as a monitor, either to extend your pc desktop, or to play xbox 360, or PS3 on? (no one cares about the wii, ha ha) The console controllers are wireless, it would be awesome if the screen could be wireless too. You wouldn't need to stop playing for a bathroom break, ha ha.
It has wireless and bluetooth, has nvidia tegra 2, and can play 1080p video, it seems as though the hardware is in place to do it... I'm not sure about bluetooth, but wifi should be more than fast enough to stream the video and audio.
There would most likely need to be software on both sides to get it to work.
Anyway, just thought I'd bring it up, any ideas?

I don't see it happening. Definitely not with the consoles, opens up a whole HDCP / DRM can of worms. As to a PC, you can always use a remote desktop app.
Would you really want to?
Tablets are a compromise between screen real-estate and portability. Their screens are half the size of the smallest desktop monitors you can buy and low-end monitors aren't that expensive.
If you want dual screens on your PC, buying a second monitor is a far superior option than slaving your tablet screen to your desktop PC.
Fair enough.
Just thought it would be useful.
You can!

Wow, that's really cool.
That's actually exactly what I had in mind when I started this thread. Awesome.
Still don't have a tablet yet. Have one on the way though.
How does it work? Software on pc and tablet communicate over wifi?
Thanks
I got my Xoom now and the iDisplay does seem to work.
Here is a review of a friend of mine using it on his.
Yep, this was exactly what I had in mind when I posted this thread. It's slow and buggy, but I'm sure it will improve and it does work for certain functions.
Yes, this idea has been around in different forms for different OSes for quite a while. Sorry, but truly new ideas for apps are really few and far between.

Triumph HDMI out - to HDMI touchscreen?

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Android phones (with HDMI out) and connecting them to a larger touchscreen (rather than a TV), and can the touchscreen then control the smartphone via the HDMI cable?
I should probably mention that my end goal here is to drop a 10" HDMI touchscreen in the car, and each time I enter the car I simply connect the phone to the touchscreen and then close the phone in the glovebox, basically using the touchscreen to remotely view and control all the phone features.
I'm afraid that HDMI does not support touch screen input. The type of touch screens you are referring to use either a USB or Serial (RS-232) connection to the computer, in addition to the video interface, to provide Touch Screen input. While I'm sure with a little digging there might be something like this to control your phone through a computer (My Mobiler allowed for this on Windows Mobile 5-6.5 phones through either USB or Bluetooth), I don't see being able to do this without a computer (or carputer) as it was, being involved.
So basically, the Triumph would need a USB host to get it done?

Yeah, my guess would be that that would be the minimum requirement, as well as obviously some sort of driver support for what would essentially be "Mouse input".
I Think your best bet would be, if you could find an old netbook. One with a touch screen, you could use it as the link to you Phone. I know of 3 programs that let you output your Android phone to a computer monitor. All work on the MT and one lets you use your mouse and keyboard on the MT.
You can find the one I use here.
And if you want to try and make your on touch screen for a netbook take a look at this link. would make for a fun project.
For the other programs have a look at Ashot and [email protected]. All work with my MT.
Thanks, folks. I was kind of eyeballing this thing;
http://www.mo-co-so.com/Double-DIN-Lilliput-669GL-70NP-C-T-7-Touch-Screen-p/mcs-lil-669-dd.htm
But based on what's working right now, the Lilliput screen would still only be a display, and I'd still be controlling it from the phone somehow.
I'm not a programmer I'm afraid, but based on the current state of car stereos, I'm amazed Android hasn't progressed into this market rapidly. Let's face it, Pioneer's current $1000+ head units have just a fraction of the capabilities of my $129 Optimus V.
I considered an Android based head unit, but I think the better path is to be able to tether to the phone when you enter the car in some fasion, and then just simply use the larger in-car display to view the Android device and control it from the touchscreen. In this fashion, I don't need yet another Android device, and the in-car unit is basically without much logic. I'm afraid we might be a couple years out yet.
Yeah, such a panel like that wouldn't really work all that well for your application. The aspect ratio of the panel isn't ideal, and it appears the touchscreen works off a serial interface. Even worse, it is a resistive panel (which is leaps and bounds worse than the capacitive touch panels we're used to on our modern phones). Overall I think even if you did wire something up the experience would be fairly lack luster.

Todd, I hear what you're sayin'. I actually have an old netbook that I hopped up with an SSD. I'm wondering about stowing the netbook, rigging up some kind of start button, and then forming a MIMO monitor into the dash ...

[Q] Note 10.1 + Bluetooth Keyboard&Mouse

Hello!
I have one question that I could not find answer on internet. I have note 10.1 and have been using BT keyboard - Canyon, and it has been working flawless with a bit disconnect here and there. But recently I have bought BT Mouse - HP and it works just great. But when they are both connected at same time they both misbehave a lot. If I use mouse my keyboard just dc and it won't respond unless I hit few keys and sometimes keyboard lags/button stuck like "dddddddd...." untill my mouse dc. When my mouse dc keyboard is fine once again and this apply to vise versa but with mouse it is not responded well like move around for 2s late...
So now my question is if there is any program or script that will help with this situation? I know tablets aren't made to be used as PC but on college my battery last for like 9-10 hours while others with laptops cant get 3-5 hours full writting. I can even play games and my battery wont be below 30% when I get home. I have rooted ofc and I am using android revolution HD 9.0 since it is most polished. I dont wanna go to other android stock roms cuzz s-pen does not work well. I do not use pen often but heck, if I have it I want it to work perfect.
I hope someone had similiar situation and had it fixed.
Cheers
I have the same problem. I did not find a solution to bluetooth interference either... so I am thinking to move to usb based keyboard and mouse for better user experience.

Yeq but i want BT i was checking utube for some tips. All i have got is that some brands dont have problem. Most problem cause microsoft products with android on other hand ms mouse is better...so yeah hope someone can help.
Cheers
I have found a way to help it. I bought external keyboard helper for 2€ and it works amazing now. I have also tryed Null keyboard which is free and it basicly just hides ur onscreen eyboard from appearing. Guess this was the problem.
I hope someone will also fix their issue with this 2 apps. Cheers
It's those devices. I have several BT Keyboards and Mice and they work perfectly together. There's no app that can really do anything about stuttering mice or duplicate letters, as the issue is in the RF layer of the BT protocol.

I was actually upset because my Nexus 5 didn't have one. I've used My Media Center on my last few phones to control my media center setup but I wish I could control everything from it.
I use xbmc so I don't need ir as there are plenty of apps to do it via the Wi-Fi network.

im gonna say no for your exact purpose you want out of the box this probably only works properly with their proprietary software for camera controls.. but with a lot of software hacking around it could be possible.
any pre existing apps out there that will be looking for a device driver in the kernel for a built in hardware IR transmitter so any universal remote apps wont find this device. now in theory if you had a rooted phone and the know how you could possibly hack up a fake driver that tells the OS its got an IR transmitter so the software will find it and that driver redirects to an analog signal and sends the output to the audio jack.
Or your gonna need to write custom apps just for this device to work as a universal remote, the propriety app appears to only do camera commands.
I wonder if Tasker has a way to generate tones? maybe if you could use tasker to do pulses of tones and use those as the on/offs of the IR LED, would take some work but i bet you could do it if you either had a very small short audio sample played in quick succession or if there were a tone generator yo ucould turn on/off really fast.
looking around found this..
A Sony IR signal starts with 2400 microseconds on and 600 microseconds off; that's the first wide pulse. A "1" bit is transmitted with 1200 microseconds on and 600 microseconds off, while a "0" bit is transmitted with 600 microseconds on and 600 microseconds off.

ive not played with tasker enough to know if it can do timing signals that short, maybe you could pre build a library of .wav files of each code to play into the IR LED.. so you'd have a pre recorded one for on one for off one for vol up etc etc and just play them on demand via tasker.
ps the website for the 5 to 6 dollar app on the android market has a how to build your own IR emitter http://www.wegroo.com/photoirmote/diyirmitter/ also the website says a operating range of 3 meters FYI... which would probably be dependant upon the IR LED's one used too. also interesting that camera remote software appears to also work with hardware built in IR emitters.

looked around this morning... found this. http://iguanaworks.net/products/usb-ir-transceiver/ works in linux and windows.. source code for drivers is GPL.. so possibly again if someone ports the code to a kernel driver for android...??? the second model on the pull down has built in emitters the one at the top uses IR blasters like OP had linked to. looks rather large i assume its a very simple circuit inside so if someone actually put some effort into it could probably get it a lot smaller if they had a preferred circuit board fab and skills to re do the design smaller.

Using a galaxy s6 like desktop pc.

Hello everyone. Recently I was tasked at work to redesign and office space and attempting to use a program to lay out and then provide a 3d rendering of the proposed space. turned out to be a nightmare for me. I work in a facility that is not updated their computer systems since 2005 I ended up making everything work but I had to do it on my phone. My question without HML support is there any way to turn a smartphone reasonably to function like a desktop PC?
So far all I have found is Microsoft's miracast. Most likely have to buy a bluetooth keyboard mouse.
But I want to know if anybody else has tried this what worked what didn't. My goal would be to plug my phone into my monitor at work so I can actually do something. so HDMI is a must.
Hardware found:
https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/wireless-display-adapterPlease help
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Miracast-Video-Adapter-Supports/dp/B00HFAEBWG
what do you need to do at work and why didnt you onsider a hromeast?
Chromecast requires a wifi router. Miracast the phone communicates to the dongle directly. This removes some variables you can not plan for ie. Crappie or no wifi. I only need an HDMI display, a miracast device and my phone and I can work, display, present. Ideally with the two items that fit in my pocket. Especially without having to try and sign on to a WiFi network that may or may not work. Making it so I could walk into any room plug it into the TV connect with my phone and begin.
To be honest with you I recently got into it with my boss. I told him that I can do more on my phone than on the s*** computers they give us. And I kind of want to prove it.

This would be really cool. Only phone I have known of that has these features is the old Motorola atrix. Maybe look into one of those new devices like IBM's pc stick. It's basically a donggle that plugs in via hdmi and as a full OS installed on it.
Today I tested the screenbeam 2 http://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-ScreenBeam-Wireless-Receiver-SBWD60A01/dp/B00O14JG2Y
Watched transcendence and great picture only got jumpy 2/3 times. Very minor lag. Some ppl reported the dongle gets hot this is true. Uses a lot of battery wifi direct phone was placed on a wireless charger and still dropped 20% during the hour plus movie. Tomorrow I'm testing a method of making the display more "desktop like" for my proposed use at work. Need to connect bluetooth mouse and keyboard. Along with some phone system tweeks. I could not get connected to my chromecast without the router.
Still looking for input from anyone who has tried this.
