Had the phone for over a fortnight not encountered this issue myself.
Have you tried removing any self-installed apps and seeing if this still occurs? Could be one of the apps causing the problem.
nope.. i didn't - but I only have "standard" apps.. so they just need to work.. otherwise i cannot use the phone..
I haven't had any random reboots yet, have had it for 4 days now. How often does it reboot?
I had it about once a week
Mine reboots a lot, but only when Im doing something. Just minutes ago when I was using the browser, and just before when playing some game. Also it stayed all night in some kind of rebooting state, had to unplug the battery.... Had also to remove an unlock app that I think it was causing constant reboots...
It has original os.

oh no... not again!
I went through 4 Desire HDs because of the reboot problem. You would think HTC would sort this on their newer devices. It was a well known problem in the past and recognised by HTC too.
This also affects Legend, Desire, Desire HD and now Desire S
I have my desire hd for three weeks and it rebooted only one time and that was caused by poor irc app. Perhaps you should first uninstall your crap apps before bashing htc?

are there any RUU files there that we can flash to have the phone s-off?
I have the same problem in my phone it restarts 3 times in the first day
really I am fried its general problem from HTC
pls anyone can advise me what I do
For me, HTC Sense have restarted maybe 5 times in the last 2 weeks. It is not a complete reboot, but some error in HTC Sense that requires a restart of the software. I have sent reports using HTC Tell and the error is an exception regarding some bitmap that does not fit in memory. I guess this will be fixed eventually.
We haven't got that issue ever, Maybe you can refresh your device with other customized ROM.
I've had this problem, seems to be with HTC Sense itself since it's not a complete reboot and it recovers fairly fast. All the more reason to root and flash Cyanogenmod when an exploit and build comes out, this is my first Android phone and I'm not really enjoying Sense at all.
I suspect it might have something to do with memory card access. I plugged it into my laptop through removable disk mode and got an error message, and noticed it crashed when I tried to launch gallery which obviously accesses the memory card to find pictures etc.
So far I've sorted out memory card errors and I've removed all Sense widgets from the home screen and I don't seem to have any problems anymore!
For me this seems to somehow relate to alarm / clock settings, usually reboots shortly after this...
I had a reset when I was talking for more than 5 minutes
I've noticed it seems to stop when I'm using one of my own wallpapers, not an HTC Sense one.
Hi,
my girlfriend got her Sensation this week and the phone got some strange graphic issues. They only appear on two of the homescreens and NOT in the lockscreen and NOT in other apps.
Please see the attachments for review. These lines change the position from time to time. The widgets used there are used by me too and i have no problems with them.
It seems to be a problem with the gpu i think. But it's very strange that these issues only appear on two homescreens.
What do you think? Do we have to send it back to T-Mobile to get a replacement?
Or is this a "known issue". Btw - The FOTA is not rolled out by ******* T-mobile.
Regards
Daniel
Try taking the battery out without turning the phone off first. Then put it back in and boot it back up. That fixed some nasty issues for my GF's brand new Samsung Exhibit.

Does this thread deals with the same issue?

Hmmm, a real reboot (disabled fastboot first...) helped...
Yea I just experienced this today and I've had my phone for about a month now... What apps does she have installed?... I'm think one of the recent app installations caused my issue

That's the problem many of us are having, especially with third-party widgets.
Someone here mentioned that the OTA update fixed the problem for them, but I haven't seen anyone else confirm this yet.
I have it recurring somewhat too. When it starts happening, often I can remove the widget and replace it and that will fix it. Sometimes I have to do a restart.
The interesting thing is that i use the "same" ROM as base on my Desire HD (Virt. Unity 1.27) and i have none of that...

its definately a software issue, and mostly related to 3rd party apps...this happens for me with; dictionary widget, current widget, and the stock connectivity widget
The widget in the pic is from HTC Hub
I got the widget from HTC Hub and it's powered by Google.
This happened to me and my buddy on our sensations this fixed it, havent had it since.
1.) Delete the widgets its happening too
2.) Disable Fast Boot
3.) Turn off phone and turn back on (not restart)
4.) Put widgets back
i am using Android Revolution HD 1.1.7, and i get this problem on -
BeyondPod
AudioManager
I had this problem on my stock rom and on the AR rom, it may be app related but not sure. What i am sure of is the problem is following me around
Same problem here on Android Revolution HD 1.1.7 (installed after Super Wipe). Deleting the widgets that caused trouble and adding them back seemed to cure the problem.
I am facing this issue since the first day, I took the device to HTC Care center, and after two days they informed me that the problem is not in the device. Those old widgets were designed for old resolution devices, and since our device has higher resolution with more advanced screen, then the widgets developers shall keep this in mind in their new widgets versions

This.
Can we have a sticky? This is like the umpteenth thread about this issue.
I have the same issue, it is a sense issue, switched to any other launcher, spb or adw ex and there's no such a problem

NOT completely true, this happens to me with HTC's power control and google search widgets, and exclusively with those two widgets, removing and adding the widgets help but it comes back every once in a while, still don't know what triggers the issue though.
I have a HTC sensation (non branded european version) for about 5 months now, and lately its been crashing constantly, it just goes black and is completely turned off.
Most of the time this happens when its in my pocket.
I'm running the original rom, its not rooted, and i did a factory reset last week.
The problem was gone for a couple of days, but its back again.
I assume its an app that's causing it to crash, but i can't figure out what app.
I'm not sure because it seems that everytime it crashes and i restart it, a program that uses the internet has an update. For example whatsapp, twitter, wordfeud etc.
I tried disabeling wifi, that didn't help. I disabled the mobile network now to see if its internet related, but its not an option to keep that disabled ofcourse.
I removed a couple of apps, but that didn't solve the problem.
Hope someone can help.
If a phone reboots...its typically software related
If it shuts all the way off...its usually battery related.
Call HTC about them sending a replacement battery. Tell them Tmobile told you to call them and you need it for troubleshooting testing.

I can't help, however can report that I have similar issues.
Though I get crashes as well during normal operation such as:
- getting a phone call
- opening up Google Maps (or any GPS app)
- receiving SMS messages
- starting the camera
And all with stock software.
I have a same problem. I cant figure it out. When i turn on my phone battery is around %6 . but normally its around %70. When i restart again it turns normal %70. is it same on your device ?
thnx for the replies! I indeed have weird and incorrect readouts from the battery after restarting, and it doesn´t crash when on the charger.
I realy hope its the battery, i´l call HTC right away to see if they can send me a replacement battery.

Hey... I am facing exactly the same issue. Replacing the battery fixed it or not?
Same here. I also noticed that if I changed my wallpaper, it reverts back to the default phase beam wallpaper on the next boot.
Updating to this firmware
DOWNLOAD 3.32.531.14 710RD (TMO ONLY [THX GROGG88]): http://goo.gl/JCWEO
MD5: 79EDF95337826DF73083E227DB8DE7C3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 seemed to fix it for me.
It probably shouldn't have, because the firmware is supposed to be the same as previous except for the radio.
Maybe it'll work for you guys.
Had the same problem, it shutsdown when receiving phone calls.... Like the previous post said it must be battery problem.. i did this fix and my phone has not shut down randomly.. this fix will tighten the battery contact with the terminals...try it first, Its a simple fix

Had this same problem on stock sensation . Once I rooted and installed custom rom the problem went Away! Never to return.
I truly believe and its been proven that custom Roms are MORE stable than stock. After installation of the custom rom , the issue of restarting NEVER RETURNED! Not a problem anymore . It's a software issue. It can be fixed with different software . It's a known issue.

I rooted since warrenty is over, I had the problem on stock rom, hungarian t mobile one, and now the problem starts to come back on a custom rom also, but not form the first day, it must be something related to software... i have two batteries and it did not fix the issue, i dont think the battery is the problem, one is original the other (i mostly use) is an anker battery... quite cool since longer standby...
how can i debug and read logs or dumps about the error?
scenarios when my phone shuts off:
- receiving a call after ringing once or twice (not always)
- during talking on the phone
- when i call someone after ringing once or twice (not always)
- starting camera and using it to make a picture in the moment of flash
- sometimes just when its in my pocket, later i pick it out and wonder its again turned off: D´OH!
most stable workaround which lasts usually half a day (remove battery)
have you any ideas how I can read dumps or logs?
thanks

I would try factory reset then take it back if it keeps doing it . One of the good things about a non removable battery is its suppose to help with random reboots. I've never had one so it might be something wrong with your phone.

I'd be sending it back. I'm on my second handset due to the chipping MAO issue. My first one must have rebooted about 3 times in the course of 5 days. My current one hasn't done it yet. Sounds like a fault somewhere.

Only difference was I had installed Battery app with shows a number of remaining battery on top left corner on notification bar. Uninstalled it right away. Not sure if this app caused the reboot will report back.

My one-s did this a lot from new. Seems to have settled a bit - desperate to find out if it's a hardware issue or not as I need to return it in next day or 2 if so. Seems to be happening to too many people to be hardware unless something is majorly botched!
Is wifi on?
My router was acting up and my phone would reboot every time I tried to connect to it. Factory reset did nothing.
I reset the router and updated the firmware and all is good. It was a Dlink 614+ or something like that.
Yes, wifi on. My router is a 'draytek', a new model and up to date though. My desire running CM had no issues with it.
I have noted however that there appear to be other wifi issues with the oneS. It doesn't always disconnect from wifi even after leaving the building, eating up the power and leaving you with no data connection. I've had to put the wifi widget on the home screen to turn off and back on again to get it functional. It's a pain. Still pondering about returning this.
I have a stock HOS, and Yes I get an RR a few times a week, not 10 per day. This weekend it just went to a power off state for no reason, pressing and holding the button the first time just gave a short green line flash across the middle of the screen and it failed to boot, releasing and holding the power button a second time did boot the phone again.
I also have the same Wifi problems described by others, but worse it can not find my router (2wire 2700hgv) when the SSID is not broadcast and my neighbours SSID is! This is my only HTC or Android device with this problem.
HTC One S in the UK, stock everything, no root
I also encountered regular reboots (approximately hourly) during my first week of use. My theory is that in my case this may be related to the radio issue reported in other threads - that of the connection jumping rapidly between different connection modes.
Since WCDMA coverage in my area is terrible anyway, I switched the radio to "GSM only" under Mobile network settings > Network mode. In addition to fixing the connectivity issues I was experiencing, my device has not reset once in the weeks since.
Not ideal, but since I'm on wifi nearly all of the time, the slower speeds aren't an issue for me. I am hopeful that when HTC roll out a firmware fix for the radio, it may also put an end to the frequent resets I experienced using the "GSM / WCDMA auto" mode.
4 days old and no reboots
rooted--no custom roms yet
i too have the battery % icon and will see if i get any reboots now
any of you guys have the "tampered" in bootloader that shouldn't be there and getting the reboots
I've had two random reboots. The first while using chrome, the other one right after it had booted after the first reboot then I updated to latest firmware, and I haven't had any since that. Maybe that's what the update does ?
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
I also had random reboots but took it back and got a brand new unit. Its rooted and running custom ROM. So far no reboot issues. Though when my first unit was rebooting it was after an app froze up and I back out of it. From testing other units it appears to be a RAM issue. Sense uses to much memory. Seems the restart occurs after dropping below 165 mb available RAM.

Take your phone back to to T-Mobile and have them replace it. I had the same problem with the one I bought my wife. It also had a problem with WiFi calling and they replaced it on the spot.

I have noticed that if I am streaming music with wifi and go to 4G, it tends to reboot. Either its plugged in to my car stereo and I drive away from work, or I have a set of bluetooth headphones paired with the device. In both cases, beats audio was turned on. But. I am used to random reboots with HTC phones.

I concur. The only time I've experienced any issues with phonus interruptus is when I turn on the Gps while using the Sport Tracker application. For some reason it reboots right after starting.

So, I was listening to Google Music, playing Words With Friends, and all of a sudden my phone's screen went a little crazy. Wish I could have grabbed a screen shot, but the best I can describe it as is it got "blurry" or "fuzzy" looking. I was able to click and go to other apps, but the screen was still not right. I managed to reboot the phone and it was back to normal.
Has anyone else experienced this? My first instinct is to take it back to AT&t and try to get a replacement, but I don't want to take any drastic action if this is something that is already a known issue (thought I couldn't find any posts about it) and might be fixed in an update, or if it could have just been a fluke...
What would you guys do? Everything else about the phone is fine (working wi-fi, no light bleed, etc.) so i'd hate to get a replacement that has issues, but at the same time if i'm going to keep getting this issue every so often, I'd rather replace it...hmmm, what to do???
I would try getting a replacement but good luck getting one with the current apple law suit.

had a similar "screen" experience when i tried to use Ivona Voice for TTS. when i selected Ivona Voice as my TTS option, the screen would move up and down like i was scrolling up and down. i removed and reinstalled the app only to see the same behavior. i removed the app and have not had any screen issues since then.

I noticed after using the camera on the black and white setting, gTalk was stuck in black and white until I quit and restarted it. It only happened once and I've been unable to duplicate it.
I'm wondering if this might actually be a problem with android 4 and sense 4. I have noticed the weird graphical issues but have never been able to duplicate them. I came from the HTC evo 3d and was rooted running newts HTC one port. On that phone I was having the same issues. Screen flashing randomly while texting and a couple other weird things. This is 99% likely not a phone issue and is software related. Too many people immediately returning phones without thinking or investigating. This may be free to do and is your right to do but it just drives up costs for everyone in the long run. Just my two cents.
Edit: sorry, I know you are trying to investigate now...I'm mainly referring to the peeps that always instinctively recommend exchanges.
