Ya, they are going to announce HTC Sentimental 5G.
More likely a Honeycomb tablet announcement... which is way too late to the market.
As a former iphone owner and current galaxy S3 owner. Wondering how often android users buy or switch devices?
As we know with Apple we only update every two years. Seems like androids have a new king every few months. So how often for everyone?
I usually change on a year, Last year I had a Galaxy mini, Today I have Galaxy Gio
I think I will buy Galaxy S2 in next year
I change whenever I feel like my phone is starting to suck. I started using Android late in the game, so my transitions went like this.
Got first Android, 7 months later gets a better one, and I recently bought my third main phone after about 1 and a half months of using my second.
So I changed rapidly last time, but my first to second transition took more than half a year

I just change my phones whenever I see a new one that I want, which is significantly better than my previous one.
Last year I had an X10 mini pro for about 5 months until the Xperia S came out. I've still got the Xperia S now but I got an S2 last month aswell. I probably won't upgrade until a new OS comes out, considering both of my phones will be getting JB.

I keep mine longer than most apparently.

I am still using my Motorola Droid 2 that I have had for over a year and a half. It still does everything I need it to do. In my opinion, the question will be whether or not you feel the need to always have the latest and greatest gadget. I don't, obviously. LOL.
There will always be newer, nicer phones coming out than the one you have, especially since there are multiple manufacturers battling for your Android business, and I'm just not inclined to try to keep up.
2-3 years for me ... Using HTC One X with ARHD 9.3.1 haha won't change that fast XD
i only buy the new phone only until the now-using phone is broken, or i will never drop it away.
Usually every 2 years when my phone contract expires.
So it costs me a new device (like S3) a copayment about 50 € .... thats OK.
2-3 years for me :good:
Every year. I have it down to a science. Get first phone at a discount on contract. Wait a year and sell that phone for $200-$300. Come out of pocket $200 for a new phone. Wait another year and get another phone on contract. No point in me going to prepaid...I get such good discounts on T-mobile that it is completely worth me keeping my contract.
I got my first phone in 1998 and since then I'm on my 11th phone. 11 phones in 14 years. I'll try to use this atleast for 2 years. But you never know.

As long as I have money enough to buy a new one
A year and a half at the very least. And depends on new phones that I might like.
Late 2010 I bought my first phone (Satio & it's Symbian) due to some short circuit around August 2011, I decided to get a new one which is Galaxy S Plus that I've been using since September 2011 till now.

Nexus one
Trying to change my phone now but dont see my galaxy nexus dying anytime soon it still runs ics smooth as butter
I only change phones whenever my current phone gets broken or stolen. Otherwise, I have no reason to change it.
About once a year just to keep up with the latest tech and not get bored of a phone.
Hopefully the next HTC flagship / Nexus
1ST OG Droid
2nd incredible
3rd thunderbolt
4th incredible 2
5th Rezound
6th charge
Three of which have been repurposed as home modem, work modem, and 2 damn fresh Mp3 players.
Rezound is what I use for carry everywhere...and until it disintegrates or a four core , 2 gig Ram, no bigger than the thunderbolt comes out....Rezound it will be.
}}} my BUSINESS with Nils P was a REZOUNDing success on the ICS....uhmm 2.3 {{{
I buy 400$ phones every year sometimes 2 years
I don't change phone so often, just in case when i need it.
1st Samsung Galaxy 5 (DIED)
2nd Samsung Galaxy Mini (current)
3rd HTC One V (plan)
4th Sony Xperia P (plan)

Everytime I see a phone that is slightly better ( read better performance) I want to buy it.. It`s just an impuls. I have to withold me everytime when i`m in a electronic store / phone shop to NOT to buy a new phone. Because I actually can`t afford it
I went to my Verizon store yesterday to see the new HTC One M8 because I'm torn between the more stock android experience of the Maxx vs Sense. The verizon rep told me that their system indicates that the Maxx is now listed with an end of life product code or something. Basically it's on it's way out to be phased out or replaced.!
Does anyone have any insight as to what might be next. I'd hate to buy a Maxx this week to only find out the next phone is right around the corner.

Only rumors I've seen in regards to a Maxx follow-up have been Q4 of this year. End of life doesn't mean much other than they won't be restocking the phone. Some devices EOL in just a couple months.
Every year a new droid/droids comes out. I don't think the maxx is anywhere being done I could see a few more updates coming. This phone kicks ass and won't be over shadowed anytime soon.

we'll hear about it on july i think and have it on september.

The past duration shouldn't matter, because Verizon very clearly said last year when the Ultra series was released that they were not going to replace it as quickly as they had in the past. They want potential buyers to feel that they aren't being ripped off, like Razr buyers did when the Razr Maxx came out a few weeks later, or Droid 3 users did when the Droid 4 came out 5 months later.
See http://www.cnet.com/news/motorola-now-exclusive-droid-partner-to-verizon/
Dietel said the Droid Ultra lineup would remain Verizon's flagship smartphone for a while, and promised a longer shelf life for the products than past "hero" products.
"They need to stand for something to customers," Dietel said.

My guess is that they will have updates at some point late summer or early fall. I actually think that the Droids came out a little late last year, based on the fact that they were a little low on the dpi of the displays and they weren't using Snapdragon 800 systems. My guess is that Moto took more time than planned getting the touchless controls and active display working right. I could be wrong about that, but, based on the hardware the phone used, compared with other phones that came out last year, I always wondered if the plan was to come out with the Moto X and Droids early summer?
I could be very wrong about that, of course...

The Moto X and Droids were never meant to have top of the line hardware specs. They were designed around features and software optimized for the hardware. The custom CPU's cleary show they weren't concerned about using the mainstream "best" hardware.

Yes, I've read those explanations. It's also possible that it was just PR.
It doesn't matter - Verizon wants these new Droids to not be replaced as fast as old ones were. So, sometime this year for sure, and probably this summer or early fall.
Everyone keeps saying better hardware its not better just faster. There is nothing substandard about the x or droids internals. If anything its just as fast as the 800 without the battery drain. I am a car guy at heart so I will use this analogy. Its better to have a 300 HP engine in a 2000 pound car then a 600 HP engine in a 4000 pound car. There both equally fast but the 600hp car is going to suck gas like a *****.

Hey guys, i looked up on the net for this but on news articles it says it will get the upgrade but on some forums people say they contacted LG and they say it won't get the upgrade. Do you know what will happen for certain? Please let me know.
I think its just matter of time when will they confirm it officially, LG PL said they cant give exact info, but LG Romania said they will roll update in H1 2016,so we got to wait. Also on LG Smartworld there appeared option for Android 6.0,so its close.

Well I hope they confirm it soon because I will choose to buy G Flex 2 over G3 if it supports Marshmallow. What do you think, which one would last me longer? I won't be buying a new phone for at least 2 years, so i want good specs on my phone.

Well, hard to say which one will have better support. Overall,G3 has better support from community, but i cant say anything about LG support itself. The G2 is unexpected to receive Android 6 for example and it went through 4.2.2 and ended on Android 5.1,and i think its good support, while G Flex 1 started on Android 4.4 just receiver 5.0 with no word about 5.1,not even 6.0,and thats what im afraid of with G Flex 2. But A 6.0 is almost confirmed,so its maybe better now with Flex series

u should buy a Nexus or a high end smartphone with unlocked bootloader
so you should get the newest version of Android from Google or CM
if you search a smartphone from a OEM u should pick HTC (90 days update delay to Google) or Moto
other OEMs have a bigger delay with new updates.

I was thinking about buying a moto x pure or nexus 5x but they dont sell it here in Turkey. And i don't have that much money to buy one of the lastest flagships. So with a budget about 400$ at most (here in Turkey latest phones are at about 600$ right now) i have options like lg g3, g flex 2, htc m8 and sony xperia m5 (won't buy a samsung phone anytime soon) and the first two are the best among these in my opinion. So what would you recommend from these ones?
Truth is , nobody can answer this question , we can only hope it will. But I don't mind 6.0 really , ux 4.0 is what I am after

Glad to finally see official announcement. Let's hope we get invited to the soak test.
Good stuff....and now we wait.
This is the announcement i've been waiting for. Now i'll pull the trigger and buy a Moto X Pure.
don't get me wrong. it is good to see an official announcement from Motorola but I'm pretty sure we will see the updates in the phones until next year.
Motorola is not what is used to be when it comes to software updates.
I just bought the Moto X Pure. I am glad to hear that it will get upgraded to 7.0.
Good news ...

I also want to point out that the post says "Starting in Q4 with Moto Z and Moto G (4)", which is now. They would probably roll down the list in device age - with some optimism, I would say we would get the update at the latest Q2 of 2017

Updates have been pretty much every quarter... Hard to say if we will get 6.0.1 and/or a simple security update this quarter or a full N release... My money is on a simple MM update and N toward end of 1st quarter of 2017.
We will get rumors of a beta, figure it will be 45-60 days after that barring any real issues.

I don't really think they will go for 6.0.1 it'll be easier to just release n on there part especially with the employee cuts they made

Will we get 7.1 if it's later on or will we just be stuck on 7.0? I hope it's 7.1 because that has the Google Assistant build in like the new Pixel phone.
