LG G Flex 2 Android 6.0 Marshmallow - LG G Flex 2

Hey guys, i looked up on the net for this but on news articles it says it will get the upgrade but on some forums people say they contacted LG and they say it won't get the upgrade. Do you know what will happen for certain? Please let me know.

I think its just matter of time when will they confirm it officially, LG PL said they cant give exact info, but LG Romania said they will roll update in H1 2016,so we got to wait. Also on LG Smartworld there appeared option for Android 6.0,so its close.

Well I hope they confirm it soon because I will choose to buy G Flex 2 over G3 if it supports Marshmallow. What do you think, which one would last me longer? I won't be buying a new phone for at least 2 years, so i want good specs on my phone.

Well, hard to say which one will have better support. Overall,G3 has better support from community, but i cant say anything about LG support itself. The G2 is unexpected to receive Android 6 for example and it went through 4.2.2 and ended on Android 5.1,and i think its good support, while G Flex 1 started on Android 4.4 just receiver 5.0 with no word about 5.1,not even 6.0,and thats what im afraid of with G Flex 2. But A 6.0 is almost confirmed,so its maybe better now with Flex series

u should buy a Nexus or a high end smartphone with unlocked bootloader
so you should get the newest version of Android from Google or CM
if you search a smartphone from a OEM u should pick HTC (90 days update delay to Google) or Moto
other OEMs have a bigger delay with new updates.

I was thinking about buying a moto x pure or nexus 5x but they dont sell it here in Turkey. And i don't have that much money to buy one of the lastest flagships. So with a budget about 400$ at most (here in Turkey latest phones are at about 600$ right now) i have options like lg g3, g flex 2, htc m8 and sony xperia m5 (won't buy a samsung phone anytime soon) and the first two are the best among these in my opinion. So what would you recommend from these ones?

Truth is , nobody can answer this question , we can only hope it will. But I don't mind 6.0 really , ux 4.0 is what I am after

Want to buy LG G PRO 2 , any advice

Hi,
I want to buy LG G PRO 2, but i want to know if it will get lollipop update and when or get LG G3 instead.
From where i can get a good online price for LG G PRO 2?
Is there a big difference between 16G and 32G ROM?
Thanks
this device will get lollipop for sure.. it's the matter of time.. i think in third quarter of 2015... you should spend more money to get g3.. 16gig model is not worth it.. and battery drain because of qhd screen is too much.. and for g pro 2 no difference between 16 and 32 .. just capacity.. you just can flash 32g rom over 16g..

Which is the best place to get the phone from? i found LG G3 32G at hi-mobile.net for 425USD, LG G PRO 2 for 395USD but not available.
honestly, i'd rather get a Nexus if you're paying that money. just save a bit more.
it's not guaranteed that LG GP2 will get Lollipop.

Get the 32GB version, the price difference is not much.
Sure you can buy a 32GB microSD for ~40$ nowadays, but having bigger space on "/" is useful, too.
Good online price? I don't know. Depends on where do you live.
I bought mine at a local GSM shop, but MAKE SURE you ask them about "which version is it".
They tried to sell me a Chinese variant with no English language available on it. So be careful with these shops.
I got the g pro 2. 32G, thanks for help.
Hi all, new to the forum and waiting for my new G pro 2 (d838) to come. I have a G3 32gb right now, which I believe is great, but I always wanted to try this "beast" of a phone, as they say it runs better than the G3. Hopefully I will get it before the end of this week, meanwhile I read a lot of posts in this section to get as many infos on it.
By the way, I see Lollipop is coming soon, on my G3 d855 I have the latest 20H firmware and it is awesome, LG is doing a very good job lately at updating its top devices, so I expect a great 5.0 rom for the G pro 2 too.

Expect better battery life than G3, Between the performance there is nothing to compare . I dont see any point of 2K displays .
LG is common underrated in my country so price is fair
In mongolia the "almost NEW" korean models
G2 cost 300000 MNT = 150$
GP2 cost 350000 MNT = 175$
G3 cost 500000MNT = 250$
G3CAT6 600000MNT = 300$ (very satisfying for a poor country)

my eyeballs nearly popped when I saw the price, still from 520 to 384 € is very nice
Thank you for your feedback! Actually I bought it online for 310€, a very good deal. Before the G3 I had the G2, which I loved, but it was kind of small for me, that's why I got the G3. As you well said, battery life is one of the biggest flaws of the G3 due to the 2k display, really useless on such a small screen. Also, I heard about a better signal reception on the G pro2, which is another good reason to switch.
Can't wait to receive it!!!

Yes, I like big phones since I'm 2 meters tall and have big hands.
I used to be a Note user, but I got sick of Samsung's touchwiz so I tried other phones, and LG was a nice discovery, much faster and fluid UI. Unfortunately the G pro 2 is not officially commercialized here in Italy, and I never had the chance to try it in stores, otherwise I believe I would have bought it way before.
I have 2 weeks ago bought a new in black 32GB.
The time now is my second GP2.
My first is the balcony fell down and did not survive.I bought it at Mobile Shop EU by 354 euros and one day it was there, good service
I bought the 16gb version on eglobalcentral IT because I wanted it white, and I couldn't find a 32gb version in white. But I have both an sd card plus a 32gb micro usb external drive, so storage won't be a problem.
Let's see how long it takes for it to get here, I ordered it yesterday.

The android 6.o is coming, will Flex2 have chance to update?

Hope our flex2 will get the updata~
http://en.yibada.com/articles/59349...lex-2-lg-g-flex-lg-g4-lg-g3-lg-g-pad-10-1.htm
some website said we will, but no official information about the update
Doubt it
Lg is unpredictable..... Lol
All i want is my unlocked blootloader, 6.0 will be cool, but all i can pray for is that Lg blesses us with a unlocked bootloader.
It's their fastest phone, but the chance of M is probably 20/80. Chance of an unlocked bootloader, 5/95. I'm curious about a stagefright 2.0 patch.

The article mentioned that the LG Flex may not get Marshmallow, the LG G Flex2 will get Marshmallow, no doubt about that.
And yes they hopefully fix the Stagefright 2.0 bugs too.

Do you have an LG source for your certainty that the Flex 2 will get M? LG has a pretty poor track record -- the first gen Flex never got Lollipop.

I hope you're wrong about 20/80 for Marshmallow. The phone is only ~6 months old and abandonment by LG would be a pretty miserable business decision. As far as unlocking bootloader, we'll more likely get that unofficially as a result of developer effort (highly unlikely without some LG tech leak) but overall the odds are probably even worse than 5%, especially for those of us with AT&T model.
If there will not be a 6.0 update for this device, i'm gonna buy a freaking iphone and never look back on android ... srsly, i'd be done with it and its fragmentation bs forever. Vendorlock me to apple crap.

Intuitively, logically, and reasonably we should expect Marshmallow and the rumors floating around on the android sites are a good sign, but personally I won't bank on it until LG puts out something official. The original Flex was release only 9 weeks earlier than the Flex 2 the prior year (Oct 27 2013 versus Jan 5 2015) and the first Flex never saw Lollipop.

The Flex and G2 had the same SoC, yet LG abandons it with no apology to users. I can't even find a reason for why they'd abandon a phone with those specs while it still had KitKat. Heck. I don't even understand why KitKat never came to the ATT LG Optimus G despite having the S4 Pro.

I see where you are coming from here, but I think that the flex 2 is much better and more popular than the original flex. I don't fully understand why the deep price cut, but it will dramatically increase sales no doubt.
Sidebar: Thanks again to help me confirm I had bad sensors. I sent the phone to LG for repair under warranty and they replaced the entire screen. When I got the phone back it was updated to 5.1.1, so now I don't have to worry about trying to coerce an OTA (sweet!). Battery life is stellar so far and no heat issues. Marshmallow would be a real treat (pun intended) on this phone, so I will stay hopeful that we'll get it (eventually)
Anyway if LG doesn't keep his word, I won't buy his device anymore
6.0
LG Flex 2 IS getting Marshmallow, U can bet your S'mores on it.

Guys. And gals? I am needing to snag an upgrade. I have note 4 ...The real reason is to get my bill down with the new pricing on easy pay. But on 16th they will go up 10 bucks. So ive been searching hard. 810 rumors are rampid. Id rather ask you users. Has the throttling stopped since the updates? Was this really the korean model? Or? How does the screen look compared to note 4? I ask because i love amoled. I also like the fact the flex is not seen much in the hand around my parts,of town. Lol. I see development is lacking. Guess no loki? Wonder why sprint would sell the flex 2 with locked bootloader? Oh well. 5.1.1 and up should fix all the lag. Please if you feel you might have some front facts on all this i hope u would give me all your opinions based on ownership. Thanks.

Sweet. So like myself youve had plenty of latest flagships. How crisp is the screen? Any pentile effect? Or is it as sharp as say note 3 or 4?

First thing I noticed was how much better the screen looked imo then the note 3 not as good as g3 sharpness but close and colors are better since its amoled.

G Flex 2 vs. Nexus 6

OK, if you had the opportunity to acquire ONE of these with an unlimited plan, which would you take?
Remember.. OBJECTIVE OPINIONS...thanks!
Flex:
- Design: Personally prefer the feel of the curve, makes one hand usage better (also helpful with drops)
- Perf: 810+LDDR4 is impressive, apps launch pretty quickly like the T-K1.
- Battery: While not as good as my Moto E or G2 it's sometimes 2x of how my Zenfone 2 performed. I posted a few screen shots, was getting about 5hrs+ SOT with LTE/HSPA (haven't really bothered with WiFi)
- Expansion: SD cards are a must, I use them frequently
- Cam: Don't care about this but the sensor is the same as G3's
N6:
- Screen: Larger, hard to argue against this.
- Development: Pretty envious of this aspect. I'm rather curious about the 6P though.
- T-Mobile WiFi calling + VoLTE (with T-Mobile ROM I think)
- Fast updates: Again, something that can't be argued. I also prefer vanilla because bloat is meh.
If I had a time machine I would honestly wait for the 6P or the 6 to drop to $200-250 range.
can only say from my preference, but i love the 810 chip on the flex 2.. it's very good now with manufacturer default on 5.1.1, and even better with a tweak here and there via root
nexus 6 has more development though here on xda, flex 2 is still pretty locked up comparatively
I'd probably choose the Nexus 6. The Flex 2 is a killer device and wicked fast. My only complaint is the display is too bright at night and you can't see it very well outside on sunny days unless you find shadow. Even if the Nexus 6 had the same issues, I'd still choose it of the Flex 2 to have a Project Fi compatible phone.
If money isn't an issue, the nexus 6 may be the better choice. In my country i can find a flex 2 for half the price of the Nexus 6. So, my choice was clear.

Also, keep in mind that flex 2 is a one handed device and the nexus 6 is a two handed device
What about Flex2 being futureproof? This device probably gonna receive android M, and few fixes, but due to LBL its gonna be stuck with whatever LG makes. No custom ROMs, no custom kernels. I'm currently thinking about purchasing this device, but idea about LBL keeps me away.
I live in Switzerland. In my country I could buy a flex 2 for about 250$. A Nexus 6 would cost me here 480$. Therefore my choice was the Flex 2.
In the last days the prices in Europe droped generally. Here a good offer: http://www.ebay.de/itm/LG-G-Flex-2-H955-Platinum-Silver-/351557561976?clk_rvr_id=918905263557&rmvSB=true. That's ATT's H950 for US...the Sprint model might have those too, haven't looked into that one much. Internationally the Flex is 2/16GB, or perhaps it's just the Korean variant. In the US the H950 has been $250 frequently.

Have you changed your device?

Hi!
I just sold my Moto G 2015, It was getting hectic and I needed a huge update. It was a great phone though.
I just want to ask
"Have you sold your Moto G 2015"
And

I moved mine to "backup" status several months ago, and move to a Moto X Pure Edition... It's a good phone but I wish I had gone Axon 7 (or now the Mini).
I will not own another Moto device.
hi,
i am very much liking my MotoG2015 as its doing fine despite of facing so many RAINS
if at all, i want to change my phone.. i would never buy a phone without IPXX ratings , i want a phone which can be used even in rain
if Moto has launched any G4 series with it, i would have bought them.. but sadly they lost me this year
... so expecting that they do for g5 , else i should have to look at other brands ,
finally, i would choose IPXX rated phones, not others even though if they perform excellent
I am still happy with my rooted stock G3. Although IPXX phones are becoming more common. some of my other favorite features are hard to come by such as FM radio and a 5" screen. It seems most new phones are becoming increasing large.

yup :highfive:
thats why, i like sony's Style of launching 5 inch phones
but Other than the phone , everything feels crap to me
if at-least, Sony launches same phone with small processor at budget price range .. many people would buy it like we bought MotoG3

I will kind of retract that, although I still feel betrayed by Moto, there isn't a better device in the G's price range.

[OFFICIAL] Moto X Pure/Style is NOT getting Android Oreo update from Moto

Yeah, I know... we figured that already, but the official list is out...
https://blog.motorola.com/2017/09/14/say-hello-android-oreo/
Interesting that the G4/G4+ are missing from the list as well, many people thought it would get it. Glad I dumped my MXPE, just sold it yesterday for $180.

Yep. Kind of a given since the device release date was 24 months ago. I'm not mad though. I get by just fine with my mxpe for now. But I will be a little more picky with battery life next go around.
October 4th can't come soon enough!!!!

Did you sell it on Swappa? Just curious, I just got back a replacement from Moto Care and I am thinking of doing the same.
I guess it might as well be considered official that XT1575 will never see Nougat, either.

$180 eh... I'll be happy to get $100 for it when I'm done with it LOL This thing's insides must be melted by now and I'm surprised mine is still in working condition. I felt the screen today and it was hot enough to burn. It was really hot outside too. How do people in tropical countries use this phone??...

The 32GB model has recent sale average price of $171 on Swappa... I was asking $200 with 3 cases (2 never used, sealed).
Guys, I'm considering buying this phone after almost 2 years with Mot X 2014. My question is "how xda friendly is Moto X 2015?" Unlocking bootloader and flashing ROMs on Moto X 2014 was piece of a cake.
I'm on custom Android 7 based ROM now, performance is great and the only issue for me is storage. 16 Gb isn't sufficient.
Manually flashing custom Oreo ROM eventually on Moto X 2015 would be something I expect to do later next year... if I decide to buy it.
Muito Xt1575 not arrieved the 7.0 yet, the 8 only in dreams.
Android 8 custom roms is real future for moto pure ?
LoL i might buy new OnePlus 5 (soecial edition) which will be officially announced by next week
hope to see more Banger features in it

Nougat is still a little buggy for this device. Have no idea if it ever gets unofficial Oreo. Also, it's just a little old. Don't get me wrong, I'm using this phone, but if you want to buy another device, choose different model... from different company.

Noooo don't do it! D: What's your budget? There are better phones with better specs out there.

Unlocking the bootloader and flashing AICP nougat 7.1.2 was a piece of cake on my MXP, it supports unlocking the bootloader out of the box.

Honestly... Don't bother with a 2 year old device. If you like Moto, go Moto G5 Plus or G5S Plus, 3-4 times the battery life, equal performance, support for probably the next 18 months or so, etc. Or if your budget allows, go with something better, there are lots of options.
I would not buy another Pure, even if I could get a new one for under $100.

Yes, it's all about budget. I can't see right now things I need in a phone for 200 euro:
- nearly stock android
- amoled screen
- SD card support
- and I hate what Lenovo creates now under Moto logo.
Looks like I will need to resign myself to some the points above
----
Guys, thanks for the comments!

Well there's the Lenovo P2. LOL But it's hard to find phones with AMOLED screens at that price point. I was gonna say just go with the Mi A1 (LCD) when it comes down in price later this year because it's the best stock Android bargain you'll find. Why do you want OLED so bad anyway? The Moto X Style isn't OLED, but it's screen and colours are highly saturated, even for me. I think this is something most IPS panels can accomplish with the right settings. I have to say, though, the Moto's screen is really good for an IPS panel.

I was actually considering Mi A1 as a great option.
I love how OLED works with ambient display on my device. Experience of receiving notifications and unlocking the screen is addictive. When I see how my wife clicks power button each time on her Huawei P9, it looks like something from the past century
