G Flex 2 vs. Nexus 6 - LG G Flex 2

OK, if you had the opportunity to acquire ONE of these with an unlimited plan, which would you take?
Remember.. OBJECTIVE OPINIONS...thanks!

Flex:
- Design: Personally prefer the feel of the curve, makes one hand usage better (also helpful with drops)
- Perf: 810+LDDR4 is impressive, apps launch pretty quickly like the T-K1.
- Battery: While not as good as my Moto E or G2 it's sometimes 2x of how my Zenfone 2 performed. I posted a few screen shots, was getting about 5hrs+ SOT with LTE/HSPA (haven't really bothered with WiFi)
- Expansion: SD cards are a must, I use them frequently
- Cam: Don't care about this but the sensor is the same as G3's
N6:
- Screen: Larger, hard to argue against this.
- Development: Pretty envious of this aspect. I'm rather curious about the 6P though.
- T-Mobile WiFi calling + VoLTE (with T-Mobile ROM I think)
- Fast updates: Again, something that can't be argued. I also prefer vanilla because bloat is meh.
If I had a time machine I would honestly wait for the 6P or the 6 to drop to $200-250 range.

can only say from my preference, but i love the 810 chip on the flex 2.. it's very good now with manufacturer default on 5.1.1, and even better with a tweak here and there via root
nexus 6 has more development though here on xda, flex 2 is still pretty locked up comparatively

I'd probably choose the Nexus 6. The Flex 2 is a killer device and wicked fast. My only complaint is the display is too bright at night and you can't see it very well outside on sunny days unless you find shadow. Even if the Nexus 6 had the same issues, I'd still choose it of the Flex 2 to have a Project Fi compatible phone.

If money isn't an issue, the nexus 6 may be the better choice. In my country i can find a flex 2 for half the price of the Nexus 6. So, my choice was clear.

For me, it wasn't so much a money issue as a storage issue. No microSD is not an option for my main device.

no belgium, but last time i checked thats part of europe aswell... amazon.de delivers to switserland doesn't it? (cause it sure does to belgium, even amazon.es delivers to belgium)

Also, keep in mind that flex 2 is a one handed device and the nexus 6 is a two handed device

What about Flex2 being futureproof? This device probably gonna receive android M, and few fixes, but due to LBL its gonna be stuck with whatever LG makes. No custom ROMs, no custom kernels. I'm currently thinking about purchasing this device, but idea about LBL keeps me away.

I live in Switzerland. In my country I could buy a flex 2 for about 250$. A Nexus 6 would cost me here 480$. Therefore my choice was the Flex 2.
In the last days the prices in Europe droped generally. Here a good offer: http://www.ebay.de/itm/LG-G-Flex-2-H955-Platinum-Silver-/351557561976?clk_rvr_id=918905263557&rmvSB=true. It must be the European model H955 with 2GB ram and 16GB storage. But at least it's a free model and you get the updates quickly.

How's those are so cheap? Are these prices for new phones?
Btw, what about 32/3 GB version, was it only for US market?

That's ATT's H950 for US...the Sprint model might have those too, haven't looked into that one much. Internationally the Flex is 2/16GB, or perhaps it's just the Korean variant. In the US the H950 has been $250 frequently.

I may be about to join Flex2 family.

I have the Flex 2 H955 since yesterday, i bought it for 315 euro and i don't regret, i love this phone. Mine came with 5.1.1 out of the box, and did only 1 update (latest 5.1.1) and it doesn't overheat to much, first antutu run gave me 57k run it for 40 min and the score never went bellow 50k... btw the nexus 6 is 450 euro in my country

The phones are new! The phone didn't sell well here and the shops want to get rid of them.
From what I know the 32/3GB version never came to Europe.

Am I at the right place???

Wow!
Is this the moto g forum? I take it it is, but it looks so quiet!
I just got my moto g today 100 quid and I know the phone is very new on the market, but I thought it would have been a lot busier here. Not even the usual nice xda phone specs header on the main page?
Either I am very lucky in getting on of these phones quick or no one is buying them lol.

Today is the first day the Moto G is sold in germany officially, in other countries the same.
So enjoy being one of the first users
The Forum JUST opened which would be why it is so quiet. Also, it is just now being released in several countries. I am excited for when it finally hits the USA and I will probably pick one up!
Too bad the 16GB is not available yet. Btw: here in the Netherlands they ask 199 EUR for 8GB ...
Patience young one.
This device has only just been released, you got to wait till January when the US get it available. The flood gates will open then.

The other shops just said Moto what? idiots lol.
Anyway because my partner had an orange sim pay as you go it reduced the price to 99,95!!! and free white cover (phone is black) looks gorgeous with the white back and black front
I was shocked it was the last shop I was going to try as there seemed no chance anyone would have it :/ and bingo, they had it.
Good luck.

The dual sim 16 GB is around U$350 on the Motorola website, but you can find it for U$300 in other stores.

Where is the love for this phone

The one phablet that can go toe to toe with the Note 3, high end specs, great camera, great building quality and there is one ROM for it and as yet not an easy root method. Bugger all threads.
Why is no one loving this phone?
Rooting can be done via towelroot. No custom recoveries or roms though..

I'm wondering the same. My phone will be delivered shortly. But it seems that this will be my first Android phone without CyanogenMod. I can't believe this.I have already asked Ricardo with a pm but no reaction yet. May be somebody knows him better and could ask him to make a recovery and start a CM project for our sweet device? The hardware does not much differ from the G2 isn't it?
The problem is that LG decided to implement a stupidly secure boot loader, without an unlockable boot loader, not much development can happen. Being the flashing addict I am, I'm gonna sell mine and but an Xperia Z Ultra

I don't understand that business decision. Why would you not sell in one of the biggest cell phone markets?
Not releasing it in America is mostly the problem, without American developers getting their hands on it, no development can really happen. Not a smart move by LG is my opinion.
I have got my hands on one now.. and hopefully not very soon , but soon will be releasing something...
I sold my 16gb D838 a month ago as I just couldn't resist the temptation of the G3. Yesterday, I put my G3 on ebay and have ordered a 32gb D838  For anybody lusting after the G3, don't do it. The screen is beautiful (if you can find 4k content ) but, other than that, the G Pro 2 is a far better device IMO. The G3 is a lagfest with frequent launcher redraws due to bad ram management, (at least it was on my 2g ram version) it appears to have been rushed out with no software optimisation. The 801 chip cannot handle the resolution.
Anyway, can't wait for my new baby to arrive, I consider it to be the best device I have ever had and that is many.
OK Here we go

That is so true. I couldn't resist to try the G3 too. But I really regret this choice. the D838 is so smooth and fast in everything. Even the camera is very fast and makes really nice pictures. The camera of the G3 is for my idea not any better and the phone itself is lagging everywhere. I have the 32GB version and the extra RAM doesn't make a difference. Like you said the CPU or the GPU isn't enough to make this device to what it had should been. I'm now on vacation but when I'm back home I will immediately sell the G3 and keep my Pro 2.

I've had my LG G Pro 2 32GB for a couple of months now, it's the best phone I've had since my Sony Xperia Z Ultra 16GB. But now it's time to move on to another device so put it up for sale on Ebay at a bargain price. It's a shame LG messed up the D83810F update, looking forward to G Pro 3 if LG bother with it. I will say that I won't be rushing out to by the G3.
I hope a custom recovery will release for this phone soon, after that many Rom will appear!

Want to buy LG G PRO 2 , any advice

Hi,
I want to buy LG G PRO 2, but i want to know if it will get lollipop update and when or get LG G3 instead.
From where i can get a good online price for LG G PRO 2?
Is there a big difference between 16G and 32G ROM?

this device will get lollipop for sure.. it's the matter of time.. i think in third quarter of 2015... you should spend more money to get g3.. 16gig model is not worth it.. and battery drain because of qhd screen is too much.. and for g pro 2 no difference between 16 and 32 .. just capacity.. you just can flash 32g rom over 16g..

honestly, i'd rather get a Nexus if you're paying that money. just save a bit more.
it's not guaranteed that LG GP2 will get Lollipop.

Get the 32GB version, the price difference is not much.
Sure you can buy a 32GB microSD for ~40$ nowadays, but having bigger space on "/" is useful, too.
Good online price? I don't know. Depends on where do you live.
I bought mine at a local GSM shop, but MAKE SURE you ask them about "which version is it".
They tried to sell me a Chinese variant with no English language available on it. So be careful with these shops.
I got the g pro 2. 32G, thanks for help.
Hi all, new to the forum and waiting for my new G pro 2 (d838) to come. I have a G3 32gb right now, which I believe is great, but I always wanted to try this "beast" of a phone, as they say it runs better than the G3. Hopefully I will get it before the end of this week, meanwhile I read a lot of posts in this section to get as many infos on it.
By the way, I see Lollipop is coming soon, on my G3 d855 I have the latest 20H firmware and it is awesome, LG is doing a very good job lately at updating its top devices, so I expect a great 5.0 rom for the G pro 2 too.

Expect better battery life than G3, Between the performance there is nothing to compare . I dont see any point of 2K displays .
LG is common underrated in my country so price is fair
In mongolia the "almost NEW" korean models
G2 cost 300000 MNT = 150$
GP2 cost 350000 MNT = 175$
G3 cost 500000MNT = 250$
G3CAT6 600000MNT = 300$ (very satisfying for a poor country)

Thank you for your feedback! Actually I bought it online for 310€, a very good deal. Before the G3 I had the G2, which I loved, but it was kind of small for me, that's why I got the G3. As you well said, battery life is one of the biggest flaws of the G3 due to the 2k display, really useless on such a small screen. Also, I heard about a better signal reception on the G pro2, which is another good reason to switch.
Can't wait to receive it!!!

Yes, I like big phones since I'm 2 meters tall and have big hands.
I used to be a Note user, but I got sick of Samsung's touchwiz so I tried other phones, and LG was a nice discovery, much faster and fluid UI. Unfortunately the G pro 2 is not officially commercialized here in Italy, and I never had the chance to try it in stores, otherwise I believe I would have bought it way before.
I have 2 weeks ago bought a new in black 32GB.
The time now is my second GP2.
My first is the balcony fell down and did not survive.I bought it at Mobile Shop EU by 354 euros and one day it was there, good service
I bought the 16gb version on eglobalcentral IT because I wanted it white, and I couldn't find a 32gb version in white. But I have both an sd card plus a 32gb micro usb external drive, so storage won't be a problem.
Let's see how long it takes for it to get here, I ordered it yesterday.

Does the phone still overheat?

Hi, I really love the Lg G Flex 2 and I'm looking to see whether to but it or not. I'm reading many reviews saying that is overheats and this is sadly discouraging me even though I really wish to buy it. Has the overheating issue been resolved since its been months if not a year since release ?

I have had my Flex 2 for just over a month now and I can truthfully say that I have not noticed any overheating. The phone gets slightly warm when charging but that is normal. I am running fully stock H95515D LP 5.1.1

if you want a good performing cheap phone, go for it
if you want a perfect screen, leave this one alone, heavy banding and mura on the screens, had 5 of them and even lg gave up, they said it was normal ...

Thanks for your input, I'll probably be buying it because yes as you said I do want a well performing budget phone since I suppose it fits my budget, I'll keep and eye out for the heavy banding and mura on my screen , let's hope it doesn't have!
Mine gets hot. After like 15 minutes of Asphalt 8, the phone begins throtteling.
But that's not a problem for me^^ Great phone anyways!

Thank you for replying so fast, I'll be buying my phone from Expansys and the reviews on that site don't mention overheating. In so worried because I had the same problem last year with the Nvidia Shield and 3 days after I had bought it the recall project was underway

What LTE bands does your carrier use? as I said, its sim unlocked. If this model supports the same bands youd be good to go.
Hi fellow g flex 2 user. I just recently bought my g flex 2 dec last year and so far the phone has been great in everyday task/use. I did try to push the phone to its limits through gaming and noticed that nfs no limits (ironically), the game does lag a bit. I also noticed that the phone is warm to the touch after running this game for a while, not that it is going to scald you or anything though. I compared this with other phones running the same game on youtube and theirs are running smoothly. It might be due to throttling or the game lacking some updates. Other than that, the phone is solid overall. all games are running great, try godfire for example or real racing 3. also ppsspp games run great, playing metal gear solid peace walker. LTE download speeds are amazing and battery life is better compared to my old xperia z ultra. hope this helps btw I have the g flex 2 32gb lg-f510l (korea) with 2gb of ram i think. stock 5.1.1 not rooted.
Thank you all for your responses, I have gone ahead and bought the game. Gaming isn't really a factor for me when it comes to phones since I mostly like to play hearthstone, other than that I just use 4G to browse the web
I have an h950 with 3gb of ram, running h955 firmware with modem of h950pr... I have no problems of overheating in downclocking but my screen brigtness are limited to 90% when phone is hot.... Mostly when is charging and gaming at the same time....

So I received my phone and what can I say, I'm really happy with it. It does tend to overheat and the screen is a little grainy but those are tiny setbacks in my eyes. Thanks for all the positive feedback you guys have given me!

How do you guys decide your next phone, they are so similar

So I need help. I've been shopping for that new phone purchase for over a month now. I'm a once every 18 months type buyer and to be honest indecisive. I have a price range and I have my must needs. Now its limited to like 10 different phones.
$300 or less, US. CDMA or GSM does not matter. All 4 of the majors are strong in my city. I require a 5.5 inch screen or more and possibly a tad smaller and must be 2GB or more and have a 615 or higher processor.
Options I'm down to now are.... Zenfone 2, Zenfone 2 Laser, Honor 5x, LG G4, Moto X Pure, Nexus 5X. Just removed a few others from my list. I'm not the spend my max budget so I of course know the G4 price vs the Zenfone 2 price and so on.
After this I require a phone that has development and at least some options. Root, Xposed but most importantly I want that UI that's awesome with options. Options and options are what I'm looking for. Until about 2 years ago I came from the IPhone World but price moved me into the intermediate android world. My last phone was a ZTE Boost Max with 1 GB ram and a dual core rooted on KitKat and this phone is just slow.
So how do you guys pick your phone. They are all so similar and 1 has something better than the other or missing something and one has something else.
Go with the nexus. It will give you the most options.
Thanks for the response. I was researching the LG G4 as a new candidate because the phone insides being 2 years old are still stronger than these 615 and 616 phones but the ever lasting G4 boot loop threads/comments kept me out of that. Seems the Honor 5X has low android support. The Zenfone 2 having so many variants again that just limits support. 1 version can get this rom but this version won't. So now I'm back to square one. It sucks because I feel like a troll. December 2014 to early 2015 had easy development options for my low cost ZTE. Its frustrating to target a phone and see lack of development.
Maybe try the one plus 3 (it's around 320 I think)
