Where is the love for this phone - LG G Pro 2

The one phablet that can go toe to toe with the Note 3, high end specs, great camera, great building quality and there is one ROM for it and as yet not an easy root method. Bugger all threads.
Why is no one loving this phone?

Rooting can be done via towelroot. No custom recoveries or roms though..

Agreed, i owned a Note 3, sold it for this and have not looked back. I like it more rooted to, xposed and text droider dpi are great root apps for this phone

I'm wondering the same. My phone will be delivered shortly. But it seems that this will be my first Android phone without CyanogenMod. I can't believe this.I have already asked Ricardo with a pm but no reaction yet. May be somebody knows him better and could ask him to make a recovery and start a CM project for our sweet device? The hardware does not much differ from the G2 isn't it?

The problem is that LG decided to implement a stupidly secure boot loader, without an unlockable boot loader, not much development can happen. Being the flashing addict I am, I'm gonna sell mine and but an Xperia Z Ultra

I guess the G3 has the same issue? So someone will find a solution soon I hope. Please @shellnut2

Becuase it isn't sold in the US which is where a lot of people in this site are from. I really wanted this device but got the g3 instead.

I don't understand that business decision. Why would you not sell in one of the biggest cell phone markets?

Not releasing it in America is mostly the problem, without American developers getting their hands on it, no development can really happen. Not a smart move by LG is my opinion.

I have got my hands on one now.. and hopefully not very soon , but soon will be releasing something...

I sold my 16gb D838 a month ago as I just couldn't resist the temptation of the G3. Yesterday, I put my G3 on ebay and have ordered a 32gb D838  For anybody lusting after the G3, don't do it. The screen is beautiful (if you can find 4k content ) but, other than that, the G Pro 2 is a far better device IMO. The G3 is a lagfest with frequent launcher redraws due to bad ram management, (at least it was on my 2g ram version) it appears to have been rushed out with no software optimisation. The 801 chip cannot handle the resolution.
Anyway, can't wait for my new baby to arrive, I consider it to be the best device I have ever had and that is many.

OK Here we go
check out the Android dev section I am uploading a first custom ROM for our D838 Model

Welcome back!!! :good: I love this smartphone but the only thing I regret there are updates. LG has forgotten this phone, is stopped alla 10f for several months without correcting the bug. I hope LG has not forgotten this beautiful smartphone..the best!

That is so true. I couldn't resist to try the G3 too. But I really regret this choice. the D838 is so smooth and fast in everything. Even the camera is very fast and makes really nice pictures. The camera of the G3 is for my idea not any better and the phone itself is lagging everywhere. I have the 32GB version and the extra RAM doesn't make a difference. Like you said the CPU or the GPU isn't enough to make this device to what it had should been. I'm now on vacation but when I'm back home I will immediately sell the G3 and keep my Pro 2.

I really can't see why people don't like this phone...it's amazing...

I've had my LG G Pro 2 32GB for a couple of months now, it's the best phone I've had since my Sony Xperia Z Ultra 16GB. But now it's time to move on to another device so put it up for sale on Ebay at a bargain price. It's a shame LG messed up the D83810F update, looking forward to G Pro 3 if LG bother with it. I will say that I won't be rushing out to by the G3.

I hope a custom recovery will release for this phone soon, after that many Rom will appear!

cannot agree more , I am on the same camp got G3 , sold and took the G pro 2 hahha

LG G3 Prime?

I was about a day away from upgrading my AT&T Samsung GS3 to the LG G3 until I heard whispers of the updated Prime being released for the US at the Berlin IFA show. Anyone else hear anything else more substantial about it? Best Buy has the G3s on sale for $99 right now but if the phone is going to get a prime version I'd rather wait for that to see what they update....
Every phone will eventually be replaced by better version. If you are going to always wait like this you are going to have bad time.

Honestly this phone has everything i need, honestly a phone with more power right now is a bit overkill cause i don't think there is an app in which you need all of this processing power but if you haven't upgraded yet and you can wait until it comes out then more power to you cause i can tell you that this phone is awesome and with more speed it will feel better if not the same, but a newer phone might also mean that the bootloader unlock will take longer to achieve and root to cause they might fix everything that was good to exploit right now we are looking close to bootloader unlock or at least there is solid progress, but it's your pick man get an awesome phone at a discount or get the same phone with a bit more power at a later date at a more expensive price

I disagree with some of these statements.
First you have to ask yourself, what will you get out of a new device which your not getting in your current one?
Now that you've answered this, browse the phones that meet these prerequisites.
Read reviews, see which one has better res., faster processor, whatever meets YOUR needs, not necessarily the markets.
Look at the manufacturors' credentials to get a feel for how well they provide things like updates, support, etc.
Once you've made a decision, go for it. I came from the S4 to this since I bricked it... but typically I will wait a processor generation(1-2 years). Went from having a single core, to dual core, quad core, but f*ed up my phone, so I got a beefed up quad that was appeasing.
WHAT ARE YOUR NEEDS is my main point, sometimes there is never enough processing power for someone who has 5 email accounts, all of the common social networking apps && a high-process running launcher. It all depends on what you do with your device, but 3-6 months after the release of the first generation processor of it's kind is my rule of thumb...
My personal opinion & 2 cents worth. If I knew there was a prime coming out in two weeks from the day I was about to get this phone, I would hold out as well lol
Lol well i just bought the phone and im not up for renewal until 2 years again so i have to stick with this amazing LG G3 regardless .
Pulled the trigger on the G3 and I'm definitely happy with the phone. Especially since it was only 50 bucks with the best buy sale and a gift card. Love it so far.

Personally, I think you made a sound choice. From what I've been able to gather, the only difference in the Prime version, if it is even made available in the US, is that it will have an 805 processor. It was designed for the markets that use the cat6 lte band, which the US doesn't have. The 805 is supposed to have a better and more efficient graphics processor, but that doesn't mean a whole lot to me be a use I don't do much gaming. You might see a slight bump in performance and battery life, but we're probably still months away from seeing it in the states. By that time, the G4 will already be close, as well as devices with the 810 (I saw an article about it on DL today). I'm perfectly happy with the G3, and once the bootloader is unlocked (which appears to be soon, according to posts in the Bounty threads), I will be entertained for several months until we see the next gen devices.

Agreed. Don't get caught up in semi generational devices. You don't get your $'s worth, your off meaningful product cycles, and frankly creating a satisfaction hole you will never fill.
As soon as this boot loader is unlocked. I'm selling my M8 GPE and sticking with this until next year when my "Next Plan" with the carrier is finished.

hoping for Xposed version compatible with ART and this is one smooth phone

There is no reason for LG to release it in the US. When it was released LG said they have no plans to have it outside of Korea. I think it should come to the US but I don't think it will. I have one coming from Korea in a few days which is what you should do if you want one. Also if you order it from Korea you get a spare battery, battery charger and headphones with the phone.

Who's Got one?

How many people have this device already?
Vodafone UK are doing a deal atm where you get a free smart watch.
Thinking of getting one of these and ditching my LG G3 D855

just got home with mine a bit ago, and all the sprint stuff is already frozen in titanium. (along with uber, ebay, nascar, basketball etc) maybe its because I use ADB a lot more often these days, but I swear it was easier/faster/more documented than when I first did it to my galaxy s3

Don't know yet as no other network sim in the house. I'll try as soon as I find another sim.
I have 32gb sprint g flex 2 in red . coming from the nexus 6 this is a much better option and for the price nothing compares. Nexus 6 has way too many issues for me i wanna gonna go note4 but with a new processor and slightly smaller screen this seemed better and i didn't even know it released yesterday .
Hopefully this phone has similar framework to the lg g3 which should hopefully mean development could be easy for it. Just porting stuff from the g3 over to this. Can't see this being a hugely popular phone for developers like the original g flex

Still worth it NOW?

Hello,
I had a Xperia Z1 before and it had some problems so I sent it to Sony just a week ago and they are going to destroy the phone and leave me with nothing (unless i pay, then i get the broken device back) so I'm looking for a new phone just after 3 months :/ The oneplus two seems nice but I don't really want to spend 400 bucks on a phone as i'm only 16 years old and don't have the money for it yet! I can get the 16gb model but my music library is about that size lol! The oneplus one seems nice but I'm not exactly sure if I should buy it or not as I've seen people post stuff about messy touch screens which is a problem I really don't want!
Has this been fixed in recent updates and is this still a good phone to get for 300 bucks(64gb)?
Thanks in advance!

Yup, there's no problem with it, I got one bought in January till now and it has no issues at all, no yellow tint or touch problem. Previously I got 1 early China batch one it indeed has yellow tint, but it doesn't as annoying or visible as you think.
Also vote for staying on KK, Lollipop the battery drain like nobody business. (Stock CM12S/CM12.1, Stock Kernel too)

I don't think they'll stop the sales anytime sooner. The phone is selling a lot even now, after a year of it's release. So take your time.
I'm sorry I didn't see the date of your query, but You will not find a better phone for the money. I won't ask how they managed to refuse to warranty the phone, but that is a shame. Hopefully you can save up some money and get one.

Yes its totally worth it. I bought my g3 in January of this year and as days pass by I started hating it. There was barely any development, the battery didn't last long, and it got pretty warm after sometime. I trade it for a one plus one and I'm not regretting it whatsoever I mean it doesn't have the fancy features like the g3 but the only thing I used on my g3 was the radio sometimes and rarely the ir blaster.

Its still a decent device, although I'm keeping an eye on the ZUK Z1 which has been announced for international release to day (available October), with Cyanogen OS. Its basically shares many of the same internal hardware with the OPO, but has some additional features like OIS, dual SIM, finger print scanner, USB Type C, bigger battery, (arguably) nicer build materials.

Oh, they're also working on a ZUK 2 for January! Featuring the Snapdragon 820..

I sold my 64gb One Plus One (only had it for a few months, got it after the invite system went away) to fund a One Plus Two but ultimately decided to get a Mi Note instead. Love it; far happier than I was with the One. The One had ghost touches, yellowing screen, crap and a half camera (who cares about 4K if HD and FHD still look bad) and horrible onboard sound quality. The Mi is fantastic. Giant LCD (I'm 6'6" so this is a plus), OIS camera, best audio DAC I've ever hear on a phone. And I really like MIUI. One Plus MIUI is broken.
The only downside is shipping from China, but mine arrived no problem (15 days, most of those spent in some sort of customs). 16GB are roughly the same, 64GB Mi Note is cheaper than comparable OP2.
Answer to your title: No! You can find better devices with the same money.

I heard that band issue can be fixed by using it in the sun or putting it under some UV light, so if I have it I'll try that
To be honest, I'd take the Moto x Style or Moto x Play. With the new style center from Motorola and the 20 mp camera on the Play edition, it really stands out and may even be better then the 1+2.

Well, low popularity doesn't mean dead. It's barely half a year old anyway. Great news indeed though.

I just got the H959 TWN version. I think I love it more than my G4 H815 except the Camera.
Flex 2 is so much more snappier than G4 and surprising not as hot the G4. The Curve and the RED back cover is nice. I don't really miss the leather back. Now I have 2 devices to play with. Best of the Best LG .......Life's Good!
Ya, I made a post a few days ago about it getting gooey goodness. This phone is a beast. I love it.
Of course this phone is going to get it. It's still new and just came out this year if there was folks thinking the opposite then idk what to say. Now the big question is when do you think this device is planning on getting 6.0? That's the big question, so far I've been running Android M on my nexus 6 for some time and it is great very nice update and I'm guessing it will roll out and be official around October or somewhere around there so I'm curious to know how long from there will it take the flex 2bto get it.
Good news will be when I find this fcking phone on ebay <270$ :'(
Anyway its good, but lock bootloader deprives custom ROMs.
Indeed good news! Some of us that called the phone "dead " we meant the lack of custom roms and in general the lg,s decision of not unlocking bootloader.
Even with m it will be also dead from developers perspective.

+1 for this hah. I'm also trying to get red one but literally no chance to find it anywhere.

Not feeling too comfortable and confident with the list. G flex? That never got Lollipop. And how easily it was forgotten, I wouldn't be surprised if G Flex 2 is also forgotten.
Kind if crazy how the list is so short. LG needs to unlock their bootloaders really. I don't see how it G4 flagship can keep the publics interest at all. Eeesh.

As I know on LG G4 international you can unlock bootloader, but not for the other versions.
So now I'm with G2 and it doesn't get android 6. I hope I will find G Flex 2 for the good price.

I can not get 6.0 if they will unlock bootloader in 5.1.1. There is lot of bad things on stock rom. Small difference between max and min display light, alarm volume and lot of more mistakes!
Hope this is true. Maybe by then we will have an unlocked bootloader figured out

The high minimum brightness is there for reason. Lower brightness = more grainy display.
I doubt LG will fix that in some update. You can use app called Darker - works great but picture gets more grainy..
Grainy display and no manual camera are my main issues with this phone.

The android 6.o is coming, will Flex2 have chance to update?

Hope our flex2 will get the updata~

some website said we will, but no official information about the update
Doubt it
Lg is unpredictable..... Lol
All i want is my unlocked blootloader, 6.0 will be cool, but all i can pray for is that Lg blesses us with a unlocked bootloader.
It's their fastest phone, but the chance of M is probably 20/80. Chance of an unlocked bootloader, 5/95. I'm curious about a stagefright 2.0 patch.

The article mentioned that the LG Flex may not get Marshmallow, the LG G Flex2 will get Marshmallow, no doubt about that.
And yes they hopefully fix the Stagefright 2.0 bugs too.

Do you have an LG source for your certainty that the Flex 2 will get M? LG has a pretty poor track record -- the first gen Flex never got Lollipop.

I hope you're wrong about 20/80 for Marshmallow. The phone is only ~6 months old and abandonment by LG would be a pretty miserable business decision. As far as unlocking bootloader, we'll more likely get that unofficially as a result of developer effort (highly unlikely without some LG tech leak) but overall the odds are probably even worse than 5%, especially for those of us with AT&T model.
If there will not be a 6.0 update for this device, i'm gonna buy a freaking iphone and never look back on android ... srsly, i'd be done with it and its fragmentation bs forever. Vendorlock me to apple crap.

Intuitively, logically, and reasonably we should expect Marshmallow and the rumors floating around on the android sites are a good sign, but personally I won't bank on it until LG puts out something official. The original Flex was release only 9 weeks earlier than the Flex 2 the prior year (Oct 27 2013 versus Jan 5 2015) and the first Flex never saw Lollipop.

The Flex and G2 had the same SoC, yet LG abandons it with no apology to users. I can't even find a reason for why they'd abandon a phone with those specs while it still had KitKat. Heck. I don't even understand why KitKat never came to the ATT LG Optimus G despite having the S4 Pro.

The above post is exactly why I'm skeptical towards an official announcement. If you see news from LG please do share because their lips have been sealed on such details.

take it with a grain of salt, but this list seem logical to me..

I see where you are coming from here, but I think that the flex 2 is much better and more popular than the original flex. I don't fully understand why the deep price cut, but it will dramatically increase sales no doubt.
Sidebar: Thanks again to help me confirm I had bad sensors. I sent the phone to LG for repair under warranty and they replaced the entire screen. When I got the phone back it was updated to 5.1.1, so now I don't have to worry about trying to coerce an OTA (sweet!). Battery life is stellar so far and no heat issues. Marshmallow would be a real treat (pun intended) on this phone, so I will stay hopeful that we'll get it (eventually)
Anyway if LG doesn't keep his word, I won't buy his device anymore
6.0
LG Flex 2 IS getting Marshmallow, U can bet your S'mores on it.

Guys. And gals? I am needing to snag an upgrade. I have note 4 ...The real reason is to get my bill down with the new pricing on easy pay. But on 16th they will go up 10 bucks. So ive been searching hard. 810 rumors are rampid. Id rather ask you users. Has the throttling stopped since the updates? Was this really the korean model? Or? How does the screen look compared to note 4? I ask because i love amoled. I also like the fact the flex is not seen much in the hand around my parts,of town. Lol. I see development is lacking. Guess no loki? Wonder why sprint would sell the flex 2 with locked bootloader? Oh well. 5.1.1 and up should fix all the lag. Please if you feel you might have some front facts on all this i hope u would give me all your opinions based on ownership. Thanks.

ive owned alot of phones in the last few years includes iphone 6+,iphone 6, oneplus one, lg g3,note 3,lg g2 and down the line. And im guessing it was korean bloat along with 2gb ram...? cause i have the att gflex 2 with h950pr rom installed and this phone flies and i have not seen any problems with performance. this is my favorite phone so far, just really like the design and speed. :good:

Sweet. So like myself youve had plenty of latest flagships. How crisp is the screen? Any pentile effect? Or is it as sharp as say note 3 or 4?
Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Free mobile app
First thing I noticed was how much better the screen looked imo then the note 3 not as good as g3 sharpness but close and colors are better since its amoled.
